Bridge House by MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple

Hovering between two granite boulders in a wooded area, the Bridge House is a four-bedrooms family weekend retreat, provides a variety of perspectives for the glaciated landscape in Nova Scotia.

The form of the house is a steel skeleton supported a rustic wood box, which sheathed in vertical cedar boards, creating a pronounced lantern effect in evening. A granny suite has been insert beneath the bridge, as the ‘belly’ of the building located the ravine.

With its generously outdoor living areas (outdoor decks, covered deck, covered balcony bridge and screened porch), the retreat deconstructed to create a wide variety of indoor-outdoor conditions.
