PRODUCTS I’VE HIT PAN ON

I picked out five of my favorite products that I’ve hit major pan on to share with you guys.

+ The first is my most used Urban Decay eyeshadow in “Sin”. I purchased the single shadow a while ago when I ran out of the one in my Naked palette. It’s such a beautiful highlight / all over the lid shade, it lights up your eyes and makes you look much more awake.

+ Next is my most used blush, MAC’s “Well Dressed”. I’ve always been a sucker for baby pink but this shade has to be one of my favorites. I find that “Well Dressed” looks super natural, which I love.

+ Next is another MAC product, their Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. I love this powder because it sets make-up while giving a little extra coverage without being overly powdery.

+ The next product is the Victoria’s Secret Radiant Face Trio in “Head Turner” which has unfortunately been discontinued. Unlike most highlighters, this contains three different shades: a baby pink, light bronze, and light gold which combine to give off a beautiful warm glow.

+ Lastly is the Rimmel Stay Matte powder. I’ve probably gone through at least five of these because they’re inexpensive and do a great job of setting and mattifying foundation.

This is my typical everyday makeup look.
#1— Bare face, wet hair.

#2— Pixi Poreless Primer all over; Make Up For Ever full cover concealer in no. 4 applied under eyes, on eyelids, sides of nose, and on blemishes; clear Vaseline on lips.

#3— MAC Pro Longwear foundation in NW20 mixed with some Rimmel Clean Finish Matte foundation in no. 440 to match my body’s tan; Skindinavia Finishing Spray spritzed all over; MAC SkinFinish Natural presses powder in Medium; bareMinerals Mineral Veil loose powder in Original; NARS Light-Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder to last all day.

#4— Cargo Bronzer in Light to contour; Milani Baked Blush in Delizioso Pink applied liberally; for eyebrows I used Stila’s eyeshadow in Sandstone mixed with Bliss.

#5— First I apply L’Oreal eyeshadow in Seashell all over lids; then Stila “In The Light” eyeshadow palette with lots of the shade Kitten in the inner corners of my eyes and lids and dark brown shades in crease; draw severe cat eyes with Maybelline Eyestudio gel liner in blackest black.

#6— Two heavy coats of L’Oreal Power Volume Black Matte Smoke mascara; for lips I used Revlon Sky Pink Matte lipstick; and by then (a little over an hour) my hair air-dries :)

WHAT’S IN YOUR MAKEUP BAG: Indigo
OCCUPATION: Artist
MAKEUP ESSENTIALS:

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter
I’ve been using this lotion for 15 years at the very least! Their lotion hydrates/moisturizes but also has just the right amount of oil to seal that moisture in. I like it for the face and body.

Claires/E.L.F Cream Eyeliner
I originally bought this liner from Claires and really loved the creamy, no-smudge formula. It turns out E.L.F sells the exact same liner (but for 2 dollars less!). I use this on my brows and my eyes almost every day.

Ruby Kisses Luxe Colour Shadow in Center of Attention
I love red eye makeup, and though it’s very hard to find, I just happened upon this one day. It is only a dollar and comes ready to be put in a customizable palette.

Boots No. 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Lotion
This is my first step to makeup removal. I just rub it all over my face and it does a great job of lifting all of my makeup, making it extremely easy to rinse away with soap and water.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (Deep Dark)
It is very hard for me (and other brown skinned people) to find a good powder that won’t make my face look chalky. I love it ‘cause the powder is so satiny and has a slight shimmer to it that gives my face a natural glow. Coverage is also buildable, which is a great plus!

what products would you recommend for beginners when buying high end products? sorry I'm sure you have answered this many times before..

Some high-end must haves for people who are just starting off with makeup:
• urban decay beauty balm
fits any skin type, very sheer to no coverage, and smooths out the skin
• makeup forever hd foundation
if you’re looking for a foundation that has more coverage. this has a huge shade selection too
• nars radiant creamy concealer
great coverage, thick and creamy but lightweight at the same time.
• mac mineralize skinfinish natural
a natural looking powder that can also give a sheer coverage by itself
• hourglass ambient lighting blush
subtle and glowy but gives a natural flush of color to the cheeks
• becca pressed shimmering skin perfector
best highlighter ever in my opinion. gives a natural but AMAZING glow to your face
• anastasia brow wiz
easy to use, and has a fine tip so you have more precision
• urban decay primer potion
not too sticky or too dry, a great base for eyeshadows
• too faced chocolate bar palette
has the best combination of matte/shimmer/glitter and neutral/colorful eyeshadows. its great if you want to branch out with the eyeshadow shades you’re wearing
• kat von d tattoo liquid liner
lasts all day and the brush is so precise and thin so it’s easier to use
• ysl glossy stain
stays put for SO long, it’s a glossy finish so it’s harder to make mistakes (unlike super opaque matte liquid lipsticks). you don’t need a lip liner for this either but it gives your lips the prettiest look

Hey :) What are some good high end products i should invest in and last quite a long time? thank you :) xx

Hi! :)

Personally I think you should save on eyeliners, mascaras, lip gloss, lipstick and spend a little more on base products like foundation, powder, primer and skin care. If your skin looks good anything else will look pretty good!

A few products I think you should invest in are

An every day blush. The drugstore blush department is really slacking to me so I would suggest getting one or two blushes from MAC or Sephora that you can use every day like a light pink or coral because blushes will last you years! I have some MAC blushes I use nearly every day for the last two years and they’re still going strong.

A long wearing foundation. Try spending a little more on foundations for days when you need to look nice all day long. You probably won’t use this foundation for an every day use and thats why it’ll last you for a long time. Use it on days when youre going on an adventure and will be out all day, for a long day of classes, a special event. Just something where you don’t want to have to worry about your makeup. I’d suggest Estee Lauder Double Wear cause the staying power is insane and a little goes a long way!

A matte bronzer. Bronzers will generally last a long time because they come with so much product. The drugstore doesn’t have as large as a selection of matte bronzers like Sephora so this is why I suggest spending a little more on one. Matte bronzers are great for contouring, all over bronzing and even using an eyeshadow for blending out shadow. Matte bronzers are great for all seasons and all skin types.

A flat top foundation brush. Brushes generally last years if you take proper care of them and typically you’d apply foundation every day so investing in a brush so your foundation will look flawless is a good idea! Try a brush like the Sigma F80, great for all types of foundation and for all skin types.

Some other products I think are generally worth the price because they are fabulous are

  • Benefit Hoola Bronzer
  • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
  • MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural (setting powder)
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Smooth Operator Translucent Powder (makes your makeup last forever and look flawless)
  • Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer (great for all skin types)

wildfaze  asked:

I love your blog so much!<3 What setting powder(s) would you recommend? xoxoox

There are 3 main types of finishing powders/setting powders that you can use over foundation

  • Translucent Powder. Translucent powders are white powders that go on clear and provide no extra coverage. They are great for those who want their foundation to look “invisible” and natural because powder can often look cakey and look like youre wearing makeup. They still set your foundation so it lasts all day and is super finely milled so it blurs out imperfections and makes you look more flawless.
  • Light Coverage/“Natural” Looking Powders. These sort of powders give a very light coverage and feel light on the skin. Good for those who still want a little extra coverage.
  • Full Coverage Powders. These powders are often powder foundations used over liquid foundation. This gives super full coverage. Not really recommend because it can clog pores but if you have pretty problematic skin I get sometimes super full coverage is needed.

Translucent powders I recommend are Makeup Forever HD Powder, ELF HD Powder, NYX Studio Finishing Powder, Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder (great for oily skin) and Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (not completely white so good for those with darker skin).

Light coverage powders I recommend are Maybelline Fit Me Powder, MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural, Rimmel Stay Matte and Urban Decay Naked Powder.

Full coverage powders I recommend are Loreal True Match Powder, Benefit Hello Flawless, MAC Studio Fix Powder, Milani Multitasker Powder and Makeup Forever Duo Matte Powder.

Hope you find a powder that works best for your skin needs :)

So I got a 50$ sephora and Mac gift Card for Christmas.... What are some good products to get at Mac! I've never really been there.

From MAC i’d recommend

  • Mineralized Skinfinish Natural Powder because it’s such a light weight, natural looking powder but still gives good coverage.
  • Any lipstick or blush really, it all depends on your skin tone but i’d get one blush you can wear every day! My personal fav is Dainty (mineralized warm pink blush) because it will work on so many skin tones yet it’s still a natural looking, every day blush.
  • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, great for spots or under the eyes. Great coverage but still feels light weight and not heavy/cakey.

From Sephora i’d recommend getting good face products like foundation, primer and powder. It all really depends on your skin type so you should def ask a Sephora employee for good foundation recommendations for your skin type. But i’ll tell you some of my favorite products :)

  • Benefit Hello Flawless Powder which is my favorite face powder because it has great coverage so it can be used as a powder foundation or use lightly to set foundation. Makes your skin look so nice and poreless!
  • Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
  • Matte bronzers like Benefit Hoola Bronzer or Too Faced Chocolate Soliel Bronzer. Matte bronzers can be used for contouring or bronzing, great product to have!
  • Urban Decay Naked foundation

Hey love! What are the best Foundations/Powders? that don't make you look powdery?

Hi :)

Try foundations like

  • Loreal Magic Lumi
  • Lancome Tient Miracle
  • Neutrogena Healthy Skin
  • Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination Skin (has medium to full coverage)
  • Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation

Try powders like

  • MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural
  • Benefit Hello Flawless
  • Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Finishing Powder (either their loose or pressed version)
  • Physicians Formula Nude Wear Glow Powder or their Youthful Wear Boosting Spotless Powder
  • Maybelline Fit Me Powder

You might also want to try translucent powders! I love translucent powders because they set my foundation so it lasts all day but never looks cakey or heavy because it’s so finely milled and weightless. The only down side would be it provides no extra coverage since it is a clear/colorless powder. Try translucent powders like Makeup Forever HD Powder, NYX HD Powder, Laura Mericer Translucent Loose Setting Powder or NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder.

What are some powders you recommend, mostly drugstore but some high end? I am desperate for new powder because I have Rimmel Stay Matte, Revlon Nearly Naked, neutrogena skin clearing mineral powder and MAC Studio Fix and I need just a good powder that won't cake up my foundation and looks natural

For a natural looking powder I really love Maybelline Fit Me powder & MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural. They arent too matte and don’t have too much coverage. The key to have natural looking foundation is trying not to be too matte and applying too much powder. Skin naturally has a slight sheen and isnt super matte/powdery so powder is usually what makes someone look cakey.

Translucent powder is AWESOME when trying to not look cakey because it sets your foundation so it lasts all day, blurs imperfections and pores yet looks so natural because it goes on colorless.  Theyre often called finishing or setting powders because you can use them over regular face powder to make your face look extra airbrushed. You’ll never look cakey with translucent powder. However it can make your face look white in flash photography at night so I usually use it as an every day powder not a night out powder if I plan on being photographed. Laura Mercier makes a great slightly tinted translucent powder so it’s not too white. My other favorite translucent powders are ELF"s HD powder & Tarte’s Translucent powder :)

sonandoamor-deactivated20140529  asked:

what powder is best for a sheer smooth finish that doesn't go too cakey ? xx

For a super velvety, silky finish I love translucent powders because they never look cakey, make you skin look more flawless and set your foundation so it lasts all day. It’s great for oily skin because it helps control oils yet great for dry skin because it’s so silky and finely milled it won’t catch onto dry patches and look dry. The only problem is they don’t add any extra coverage because translucent powders are white powders that go on clear. I even like to wear them over my normal pressed powder to make my skin look extra smooth!

Some of my favorite translucent powders are ELF’s Studio HD Powder, Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder (slightly tinted, great for darker skin tones or those who are afraid of a white cast), Tarte Smooth Operator Translucent Powder (best one for oily skin) and Makeup Forever HD Powder.

If you want a little extra coverage i’d stay away from “matte” powders because those are aimed for oily skin so they can be more chalky and look more dry on the skin. From my experience more matte, powdery looking powders look more cakey than ones that are a little more on the silky, “moisturizing” side.

  • Maybelline Fit Me Powder
  • Urban Decay Naked Finishing Powder
  • Benefit Hello Flawless
  • MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural
  • Maybelline Dream Wonder

freckl3d  asked:

What foundations would you recommend for somebody with normal to combination skin wanting to look dewy but not oily? And then what powders would you recommend to set the foundation that won't take away from the dewiness but also not make your whole face shimmer? Thanks so much!! xx

If you want a more dewy yet long lasting look I’d recommend still wearing a long lasting foundation thats more of a satin/matte finish and then adding glow to where you want it. Usually a dewy foundation will look dewy all over which is good if you’ll only be out for a few hours or have dry skin but if you’re going to be out most of the day or have more oily/combo skin you’ll need to make a few adjustments. Oily skin gals can still get that dew and radiance without looking oily! :)

For a long lasting dewy look start off with a long wearing or more matte foundation and use one or some of the techniques listed below

  • Cream/powder highlight. Apply highlight on the cheek bones, down the bridge of the nose (or just the tip of the nose) and the upper lid/cupids bow. The rest of your face will be relatively matte but adding shimmer and glow in just those areas will give your face a more dewy effect. Powder highlights tend to be more shimmery/intense and cream highlights tend to be more natural and “wet” looking like skin’s natural oils.
  • Illuminating primer/base. Using an illuminating base under makeup will glow through foundation making it look like you’re glowing from within. You can even mix an illuminating base/primer with your foundation to give your foundation more of a glow but still keeping the long wearing properties of the foundation.
  • Cream blush and bronzer. Cream blush and bronzer don’t dry to a powder, matte finish so they will add a bit of glow to the skin.
  • Setting spray. Setting sprays help the foundation and powder melt together taking away any cakey or powdery finish.

To keep a more dewy finish with powder i’d recommend only powdering the t zone, not the entire face, and using a powder that’s not too matte like a translucent powder. Some other great face powders that won’t look too matte or too shimmery are MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural, Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder, Maybelline Fit Me Powder, Physicians Formula Spotless Youthful Wear Illuminating Powder and NYX Radiant Finishing Powder.
