mac blot powder

MAC Blotting Powder

I got this in light since it sets translucent, and any make up on my skin oxidises up to 3 shades darker.

Pros:

Finely milled

Good oil control

Matte finish

Compact

Cons:

Use lightly or it will cake

Pat off excess oil first before applying especially if you’re really oily

Better use a brush instead of the applicator that comes with it

Fairly expensive

Verdict: Must have but bring a kabuki brush along

Do you know what face powder can keep the face matte but not too matte? Just enough to set the face and still keep the face shining? I luvluv your blog btw xx

First i’d suggest only powdering the t zone so you’re more matte where you need it keeping the rest of the face more dewy/radiant.

I’d recommend translucent powder! Translucent powders actually keep me shine free longer than regular pressed/tinted powders and they look extremely natural over foundation (or alone). Since translucent powders are so finely milled they go on like silk and make your skin look like silk, NEVER cakey! Awesome for oily skin gals who want to set their foundation without looking too dull or powdery. Also great for any skin type even dry because it really blurs imperfections making your face look extra flawless.

Try translucent powders like

  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Smooth Operator Finishing Powder
  • MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Powder
  • Makeup Forever HD Powder
  • Laura Mercier Translucent Powder (slightly tinted, great for deeper skin toned complexions)

The only downside is they provide no extra coverage as they are white and go on colorless so if you use powder for a little extra coverage it might not be for you so check out some natural looking mattifying powders like

  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
  • MAC Blot Powder
  • Clinique Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder
  • Maybelline Fit Me Powder

Also p.s, don’t apply too much if you plan to be taking pictures with flash because they can make your face look white in pictures. Apply a thin layer or avoid using all together prior to taking pictures with flash.

Hi! What is your makeup routine? You always look flawless in your photos!

I am definitely not flawless, but thank you! :)

Because I get this question so frequently I decided to make a detail list with links and specific shades!

On a normal, daily basis:

If I go out or have a special occasion I will use these additional products:

As for brushes, I only own probable three brushes.

For tinted moisturizer/foundation/cream blush:

For bronzer/powder/blush:

For eyeshadow:

  • urban decay brush (came free with naked palette)

Hope that could help!
