You posted a response to what make-up you use, do you mind telling us what products you actually use, please? Brand etc. I'm so new to make up it seems scary! Thank you xxxxxxxx

Of course!!
Well here is the list of products I’d currently use Day to Day:
- Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue tinted gel cream
- NARS radiant creamy concealer
- Estée Lauder pure colour lip and cheek
- MAC prep+prime transparent finishing powder
- Becca shimmering skin perfector in champagne pop
- Too Faced better than sex mascara
- Benefit gimme brow tinted eyebrow gel

The tinted gel just gives my skin some hydration and sun perfection in addition to that bit of tint to even out my complexion, the concealer helps blend dark circles under my eyes (hereditary- thanks mum), Estée Lauder colour adds a hint of rosy colour to my cheeks and lips, and power sets those products a spot so they don’t slip and slide!
Becca is a highlighter, so I pop that on high points of my face to reflect light - cheekbones, brow bone, and then across my eyelids.
Mascara opens my little almond eyes right up, and brow gel colours the little blonde hairs in my brows to match the rest and sets it all in place! :-)

Do you know what face powder can keep the face matte but not too matte? Just enough to set the face and still keep the face shining? I luvluv your blog btw xx

First i’d suggest only powdering the t zone so you’re more matte where you need it keeping the rest of the face more dewy/radiant.

I’d recommend translucent powder! Translucent powders actually keep me shine free longer than regular pressed/tinted powders and they look extremely natural over foundation (or alone). Since translucent powders are so finely milled they go on like silk and make your skin look like silk, NEVER cakey! Awesome for oily skin gals who want to set their foundation without looking too dull or powdery. Also great for any skin type even dry because it really blurs imperfections making your face look extra flawless.

Try translucent powders like

  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Smooth Operator Finishing Powder
  • MAC Prep & Prime Transparent Powder
  • Makeup Forever HD Powder
  • Laura Mercier Translucent Powder (slightly tinted, great for deeper skin toned complexions)

The only downside is they provide no extra coverage as they are white and go on colorless so if you use powder for a little extra coverage it might not be for you so check out some natural looking mattifying powders like

  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
  • MAC Blot Powder
  • Clinique Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder
  • Maybelline Fit Me Powder

Also p.s, don’t apply too much if you plan to be taking pictures with flash because they can make your face look white in pictures. Apply a thin layer or avoid using all together prior to taking pictures with flash.
