One Direction Fans Launch ‘Fifth To A Million’ Campaign
Those One Direction fans are bloomin’ amazing.
When they’re not launching campaigns to get album tracks to number one, or dedicating their time to reminding folks about the hugely important #Action1D, they are kicking off projects to show OT4 just how much they mean to us.
We mean, it’s all seriously impressive stuff.
The newest in ‘1D fans being ruddy awesome’ comes ahead of the release of their fifth studio album, and the mission, should you chose to accept it, is for said album to reach one million sales in its first week of release.
TOTES DO-ABLE, RIGHT?
Explaining the heartwarming reason behind the campaign, fans Sophia and Sav posted in a statement: “We decided to create Fifth To A Million to get the fifth album to a million sales with the first week of release because of one major reason:
“This album is the first album One Direction will be releasing as a four-piece band.
“To deal with the departure of a member was hard enough on us and the band themselves. After Zayn’s departure, everyone began saying how ‘it was the end of One Direction’, ‘now that they’re down a member it’s not going to be the same’, ‘they’re going to give up and half *ss their music.’
“To prove everyone wrong, we’ve created the campaign Fifth To Million.”
We’ll drink to that!
If you’re wondering, the boys previous albums Midnight Memories and Take Me Home sold 549,000 and 540,000 copies respectively in their first week, which makes us think that this feat won’t exactly be impossible to achieve.
Especially when you bear in mind the fandom’s utter dedication and loyalty to the boys and the fact that their surprise debut single of the new album, ‘Drag Me Down’, sold almost 300,000 copies within the first 24 hours of release.
Oh, and then causally went on to reach number one in the iTunes chart in about a gazillion different countries.
Rounding up their statement, the campaigners conclude with: “Overall, we’re doing this to show our never ending support for these four boys.
“Showing them that we aren’t going anywhere soon and we aren’t going to start letting them down. We know they’re not giving up on us when they easily could have called the entire band off with Zayn’s departure, and we’re not giving up on them.
“They deserve this more than anything. Harry tells us we’re are legends, let’s prove it.”
And imagine the look on our four boys’ faces when it happens, eh?
We just hope that we haven’t ruined the surprise…

I wanted to do my part for Project Drag Me Down and get the boys to number 1 on the billboard charts! I did a little coding to make a tweet generator! When you click on the link it helps generate a tweet with a radio station handle and a random message like Please Play #DragMeDown1d or I request #DragMeDown so that the radio stations see this and the message is changed up automatically so it doesnt look like spam! All messages include the hashtag #DragMeDown1d or #DragMeDown. all you have to do is click the link and it will pop up the twitter box to tweet. refresh the page and a new message will be created you just have to hit the link again.
Liam: Our album was finished yesterday! And it hasn’t leaked yet. Yes, c’mon! No leakage, no leakage. Please don’t leak stuff. Please, don’t leak it. C’mon! Niall: Leaking is for idiots. Liam: Well, I hope you’re all going to enjoy it because Drag Me Down is just the beginning […]
