From the US Armor School: THIS DAY IN ARMOR/CAVALRY HISTORY; 1991 - Coalition forces began their ground offensive into Iraq after Iraq’s refusal to withdraw troops from Kuwait. Coalition forces offensive reached within 150 miles of Baghdad on 28 February when Kuwait was officially declared liberated and a ceasefire was declared.
