lurking-in-darkness

Why are colds like

One Nostril: I’m cool

Other Nostril: They have taken the bridge and the second hall. We have barred the gates but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes, drums… drums in the deep. We cannot get out. A shadow lurks in the dark. We can not get out… they are coming.

Castle Hushabye is riddled by a deep network of dark canals. And beneath the surface lurks a large dark shadow.

Meg is one of the oldest inhabitants of the castle but no one knows anything about her as she doesn’t like talking about herself. She’s real nice though! A real buddy! As long as you don’t get into the water, or too close to the edge. She’ll snap. But it’s ok, she’ll warn you about it if she gets the chance!

It’s different for Marble though. Being a bloodless Golem has its benefits.

Late night starters

“The stars are amazing tonight. Don’t you think?”

“So what should we do tonight?”

“I’m pretty sure skinny dipping is frowned upon, no matter the time of day.”

“Let’s go clubbing, tonight.”

“Come on, it’s just a horror movie. I’ll hold you if you get too scared.”

“Don’t tell me you’re scared of the dark.”

“You never know what could be lurking in the dark.”

“Do you know what time it is? Go to bed, before I knock you out so I can finally have some peace.”

“Even if we went streaking it’s too dark for anyone to see anything, so you’d be fine.”

“I love campfires.”

“Anyone know any good ghost stories?”

“Haven’t you heard the stories of young girls walking home alone in the dark?”

“Don’t worry. No boogie monster is going to get past me.”

“Funny. The night is as dark as my soul.”

“Shh… Listen.” *pauses* “Hear that?”

“It’s the sound of the night.”

“I’ve always felt more comfortable in the dark.”

“I swear you’re nocturnal.”

The Blair Witch is the most terrifying villain in film history because, ultimately, the audience never *saw* her.  She’s an unknown entity.

And then there’s the sick implication at the very, very end of The Blair Witch Project movie that Heather actually did see her. Off-camera, of course

And Heather fucking lost it and kept screaming and screaming for her life. Dear God, her insane yelling in the final few seconds of that film. It terrified me at 14. I didn’t sleep for days.

The point of the Blair Witch: Your imagination does all the work for you. More than any filmmaker ever could.

It’s about the individual and their very, very worst nightmare

burden

no matter what mood i find myself in i can always feel something dark lurking in the back of my mind. even when i’m in a great mood it’s always there and i can always feel it. always having dark depressing thoughts looming over me from things i’ve been through or things i’m going through. i thought it was a terrible burden that i would never escape, and i was partly right because i will never escape it. i tried to fight it, i tried to get rid of it, i tried to run from it but i couldn’t. finally i just accepted that it will always be here. i stopped trying to push it out and let it become a part of me. now it’s less of a burden and more of a reminder. it reminds me of where i’ve been, what i’ve been through, and what i don’t want to go through again. my life is constantly changing going up and down, sometimes it sucks and sometimes it doesn’t. having that reminder shows me just how fast my life can change and how it will always change.

PTSD feels like

Walking out of the house and thinking you left a candle burning

Like someone is following you

Waking up covered in cold slimy sweat

Being backed into a corner

Like missing a stair

Like bumble bees are stuck in your skull

3am

4am

Pressure on your eye sockets

Twitching leg muscles

A bowl of soggy cereal

A break up

Being surrounded

Being in a room full of people who can’t see you

A monster that may be lurking under the bed

A dark closet door that is open

  • me, first hearing Dr. Bright mention Agent Green: what a shady piece of trash, he probably wears black suits and lurks in dark hallways, he is so sketchy he must be utterly cold if he works for the AM and probably a mean person
  • me, after listening to him talk more: get it together Green, you're embarrassing yourself you lovesick agent of doom i bet you wear goofy ties and blush easily you sketchy piece of trash god i hope someone gives you a hug

Higurashi series

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

Synopsis:  Keiichi Maebara has just moved to the quiet little village of Hinamizawa in the summer of 1983, and quickly becomes inseparable friends with schoolmates Rena Ryuuguu, Mion Sonozaki, Satoko Houjou, and Rika Furude. However, darkness lurks underneath the seemingly idyllic life they lead.

As the village prepares for its annual festival, Keiichi learns about the local legends surrounding it. To his horror, he discovers that there have been several murders and disappearances in the village in the recent years, and that they all seem to be connected to the festival and the village’s patron god, Oyashiro. Keiichi tries to ask his new friends about these incidents, but they are suspiciously silent and refuse to give him the answers he needs. As more and more bizarre events occur, he wonders just what else his friends might be keeping from him, and if he can even trust them at all.

When madness and paranoia begin taking root in Keiichi’s heart, he will stumble straight into the mysteries at work in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, a story that is told across multiple arcs.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai

Synopsis:  Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai continues the story from the first series and sheds light on many of the dark mysteries prevalent in the first season. The young group of friends in the town of Hinamizawa continue to have terrible conflicts with one another in their never ending summer of 1983, often ending with the brutal murder of one of their members. With the help of her spiritual friend, Hanyuu, Furude Rika tackles these challenges over and over, trying her best to keep their lives from coming to a tragic end. With no end to the torture in sight, Rika must call upon the bonds of friendship and trust among her friends to discover the true villain of this eternal June.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei

Synopsis:  The infamous series of unexplainable murders in Hinamizawa have been solved and the chains of fate have broken due to the efforts of Rika Furude and her friends. Rika believes she has finally obtained the normal and peaceful life she desired with her friends; however, she is proven wrong when the wheels of fate begin turning once again after an unfortunate accident.

Rika suddenly finds herself in a “perfect” world, the constant cycle of brutal killings having never taken place, where all of her friends are content and satisfied. Not wanting to abandon the world that she fought so hard for, she learns she must destroy an essential “key” to get back. But can Rika abandon the faultless world she is given the chance to live in, after all of her battles have brought her this far?
