anonymous asked:

idk if you've been asked this before but could you tell me about the "essentials" every newborn radiohead fan should know? i feel like a fuckin baby cuz they're so huge and i know nothing

Oh yes, i understand completely. When i got into Radiohead i had to search everything by myself because i really didn’t know anything about them so i had to listen to every album since the first one, Pablo Honey. I think that listening to Radiohead starting with Pablo Honey to A Moon Shaped Pool can be very fun to listen to because you’ll see and listen to your and hopefully soon-to-be-your favorite band grow up and become a better band musically with every single album that you listen.

Naturally, of course, i was obsessed with Pablo Honey and i thought that their first albums were the best, you know, i thought they were the kind of band that only had their old records as their best ones but silly me, thank god. Also, i don’t know why but at first it was a bit hard to understand Kid A-The King of Limbs to me at first so i had to give them a second or third listen to understand them musically, so please, give them a few tries if you don’t get the music in the first try, you won’t regret it. TRUST ME!

Now the essentials:

Pablo Honey:

Recommended B-sides: Inside My Head

The Bends: (Check out My Iron Lung EP)

Hail to the Thief: (Check out: Com Lag: 2plus2isfive)

Not necessarily B-sides but listen to These Are My Twisted Words and Harry Patch (In Memory of)

The King of Limbs:

Recommended B-sides: The Daily Mail, Staircase, The Butcher, Supercollider

A Moon Shaped Pool:

Recommended B-sides: Spectre

Now that we finally have lp9 a.k.a A Moon Shaped Pool, we are excited to see how they are going to play the new album live because they just got a damn orchestra and choir in it and it’s one of their best albums! The best thing it’s that the tour starts next friday! I’m gonna die.

And for Radiohead, that’s it. If you have time, check thom’s solo projects like his 2 studio albums: The Eraser (2006), Spitting Feathers (EP), Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes (2014). Extra songs like: Hearing Damage, YouWouldn’tLikeMeWhenI’mAngry. And of course his other band, Atoms for Peace with the Amok album  from 2013.  Don’t miss the song S.A.D!

Some of his colaborations with other artists include, Björk (I’ve Seen It All), Pj Harvey (This Mess We’re In) Burial, Four Tet, (Mirror, Ego,) Flying Lotus, (And The World Laughs With You…, Electric Candyman) Modeselektor (Shipwreck) UNKLE (Rabbit in Your Headlights)

Anyway, I’m sorry if this took me hours to reply but i’m always happy to get more people into radiohead’s music because they are totally worth it. I hope you like them!
