Derek Hale is going to South America with his sister.

Derek Hale is going backpacking through Chile, and he drinks green and orange cocktails with umbrellas on the beach, sleeps underneath the stars, goes kite surfing.

He sends a postcard to Scott with a picture of Valparaíso on the front and signs it D.

When he comes back to Beacon Hills in the fall, he wears cardigans and drinks chai lattes and falls asleep on the couch with the book he’s reading spread over his lap.

And he clasps Scott’s shoulder, speaks softly and laughs at Stiles’ jokes.

Which makes Stiles stop and look at him, really look at him and say “I missed you.” Meaning not the Derek they used to know, but rather the person Derek really is.
