And I thought about how many people have loved those songs. And how many people got through a lot of bad times because of those songs. And how many people enjoyed good times with those songs. And how much those songs really mean. I think it would be great to have written one of those songs. I bet if I wrote one of them, I would be very proud. I hope the people who wrote those songs are happy. I hope they feel it’s enough. I really do because they’ve made me happy. And I’m only one person.

Okay, I think we can all agree that the world is seemingly a little more blessed when our reigning queen Meredith decides to rise, whilst Taylor simultaneously looks youthful and luminous in yellow, and when her highlighter gives off a lit from within warm glow.
There was a time I thought I had the maps to
all the lost kingdoms, everything is in my notes… this desert is dry; a mirage
of a beautiful ocean with high tides and sea creatures that were the color of
my blue hair once… but I swear they were there. So many times I think of words
and how they can seduce each other and dance in luminous lullabies upon ones
heart, dreaming in verbal babble and forever doomed, or so they say, is that a
cliché? I dyed my hair blue for a moment in time, it became overwhelming
to me, I didn’t recognize myself nor did anyone else, so I took it out.
Blue is for peacocks, pretty feathers, strange cats, or mid life crisis
attacks… No? It’s just for hipsters?
I was listening to the song "O' Sister" by City and Colour (I've heard it before but was really listening to the lyrics today) and it reminded me of Jon and Arya. Not necessarily in a romantic way, but it reminded me of what their relationship might be like after they meet again (or after the war). While the tone of the song isn't perfect for them (in my mind) it still has a sadness and a haunting feeling that fits. (Part 1)
[cont] It’s reminiscent of what thoughts and questions would fill Jon’s mind about where Arya’s been and what she’s gone through. It specifically made me think of in ISHLAT when Jon thinks of how secretive Arya is and sometimes how cold she seems (which fits what might become canon in the books). Some lines in particular that parallel Jon and Arya (even though I think the whole song does) are: “What have the demons done? With the luminous light that once shined from your eyes”
“What makes you feel so alone Is it the whispering ghosts That you feared the most” “Those lines etched in your hands They’re hardened and rough like a road map of sorrow” “There is a sadness on your face You’re like a motherless child who’s longing for comfort” If you haven’t heard the song before you should give it a listen. It’s really good with or without the Jonrya parallels. What do you think?
Yeah, the song was lovely and seemed to really fit Jon and Arya, and what they might be after the war; I enjoyed it all, but for the beginning:
What’s wrong with your mind? You used to be so strong and stable
I don’t see Jon getting Arya back and thinking of her as unstable. That’s more of fandom interpretation than what I think we’ll get. But everything else - the wondering about what had happened to her, thinking about her demons, etc. - was really beautiful. I wrote Jon in ISHLAT as wondering about Arya’s secrets/seeing her as this new person/feeling like she’s different but also the same because I predict that’s the way the books will go.
I don’t think Arya will be jumping up and down to tell anyone about her Faceless Men experiences; and judging by Mercy, GRRM is ready to turn her into a femme fatale type who is capable of being both cold and caring at the same time. It’s a lovely contradiction of old Arya and new Arya, and I think she will really intrigue her family.
