Shaving 101: ultimate guide for extra sensitive skin.

Ladies gather up. For years I’ve suffered from ultra sensitive skin especially around my bikini area and inner thighs. I know a lot of you deal with the same problems so I’m making a very extensive post about NATURAL and SKIN FRIENDLY ways to combat these issues as well as share my personal shaving routine.

Firstly let me clear this up: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, PUT ALCOHOL OR DEODORANT ON THESE SENSITIVE AREAS.

I’ve seen many posts online about girls that use alcohol as a toner, or apply cream deodorant and Nivea aftershave balm to prevent razor bumps. While these products will help alleviate the symptoms they will harm your skin in the long run. So stay away!

In my experience there are two types of problems:

Immediate: these appear during or directly after shaving. (Pain during shaving, cuts, irritation)

Post shave: these appear hours or days after shaving (irritation, bumps, ingrown hairs)

So let’s take it from the start.

Baths and soaks: now this is not a totally necessary step but soaking in warm water prior to shaving will help soften both the skin and the hair and provide a more pleasant experience.

Avoid using any body wash or bubble bath as it will disturb your ph levels and is especially unhealthy for your vagina.
Prefer ingredients like salts(detoxifies, provides minerals), baking soda(detoxifies), apple cider vinegar (balances ph), herbs & teas (soften skin, smooth, hydrate, calm and so on), milk (hydrates skin, mildly exfoliates, softens), honey (hydrates, softens)

Exfoliation: this is an essential step if you suffer from ingrown hair and additionally helps give a closer shave.

You have a few different options. You can either use a glove/loofah/mitt/sponge or a scrub

Again avoid commercial scrubs as the chemicals in them are extremely unnecessary and unhealthy for your skin. Invest in a quality natural product or create your own with ingredients you already have in your kitchen in the fraction of the time and cost.

A simple scrub recipe I enjoy:

Sugar (brown or white)
Oil (I use coconut but any oil will work)
Lemon juice
Lemon zest

Add the desired amount of sugar in a container or mixing bowl. Put in the zest. Slowly pour in the oil until all sugar granules are coated but not saturated in it. Finally add the lemon juice until you reach the desired consistency.

Both the lemon juice and lemon zest are completely optional. The juice helps lighten any marks while the zest gives a refreshing smell.
You can substitute cinnamon and vanilla extract for a sweet, more wintery smell or just leave it plain.

Use the sugar scrub around your kitty but be extremely cautious not to get it inside as it might cause imbalances and yeast infections.

Do not substitute salt for sugar as it’s too harsh and will sting during shaving.

DO NOT USE BABY OIL. I can’t even believe that this is a product intended for babies! The ingredients are disgusting and extremely harmful.

Here’s why:

“Traditional baby oil is typically mineral oil, a petroleum-based ingredient. Mineral oil coats the skin just like a plastic wrap and messes with your baby’s natural immune barrier. This inhibits the skin’s ability to breathe and compromises its capacity to release toxins.”

Keep it away from you and your coochie.

Shave: if you chose a scrub just rinse off the granules with lukewarm water but DO NOT wash off the oil. It will protect your skin from the blades and prevent burns, cuts, irritation and discomfort. If you are using an oil free option to exfoliate you will need to apply oil afterwards. (Again choose the oil that suits you best.)

Choose a men’s razor with four blades (My favorite is Gillette fusion pro glide) and change the blades often.

Typically the oil is more than enough. If though you have supah sensitive skin and especially if you are shaving for a second day in a row you might wanna try shaving UNDERWATER. Yes you read that right. This method saved me!! Just sit as comfortably as you can in the tub and submerge the parts you want to shave in the warm water WITH THE OIL ON and shave.

Aftercare: use a gentle body wash to remove the oil from your body and a feminine wash or plain water to rinse your kitty.

Use a clean towel and pat the shaved areas dry.

I use alcohol free witch hazel as a toner on the areas where I’m prone to breakouts and bumps to naturally and gently disinfect the skin and close the pores. You can also mix apple cider vinegar with water in a 1:3 ratio and use that instead.

As a second step I like to slather on some aloe Vera gel to hydrate and smooth the skin.

Once it’s soaked I top everything off with some natural aftershave balm (my favorite is the bulldog original aftershave balm, it’s super cheap and all natural)

The following days: you can apply some moisturizer or oil with a few drops of tea tree oil on the areas where you get razor bumps and post shave breakouts to eliminate them. I like to use Aloe Vera gel consistently to moisturize and smooth sensitive areas.

This is it ladies! I hope it’s helpful!!

Ethan “The Crust” Nestor’s Pizza (biscuit? croissant?) Recipe

•one packet of yeast

•a few capfuls of olive oil

•some lukewarm water

•2 fistfuls of flour

•a sprinkle sprankle of granulated sugar

•a handful of salt

•another gigantic fistful of flour

TASTY TIPS: Always make sure to stir that dough with your hands. Never use utensils: spoons are for the weak. You have perfectly good spoons attached to your shoulders.

Also, direct eye contact with a friend is recommended to achieve that notoriously flaky consistency. If your dough begins to get a little dry, lube that sucker up with olive oil (your dough may turn an unsightly gray, but that’s fine) and work oil into the ball of dough. If all else fails, bury your disaster in flour in order to conceal your sorry excuse for pizza. @markiplier @crankgameplays

GUYS guys omg!! so i started a new skin regimen not even a week ago and my skin is GLOWING like it’s soft, it’s moisturized but not oily, it’s bright, AND my acne scars are fading. i wanted to share what i’m doing with yall bc it changed my life so maybe it’ll change yours.

(DISCLAIMER: my skin isn’t naturally oily or dry, but it is prone to getting scars even though i don’t pick at pimples. that said, i don’t know if those of you with different skin types will benefit from this, but for those with acne scars it may really help. (for those with dry skin types, i would be careful, bc a lot of the stuff i use is abrasive and might really strip your skin if it’s already dry.))

FIRST OFF, get yourself a facial cleansing brush. it doesn’t have to be expensive – i literally got mine from walmart for seven bucks – but just get your paws on one. it offers a lot deeper cleaning that’ll make sure nothing’s in your pores.

MORNING ROUTINE:

  • before you do anything with your face, brush your teeth. (as a side note, i now rinse with hydrogen peroxide after brushing and my teeth are whiter after about a week and a half. just rinse with hydrogen peroxide, and then rinse with a little bit of water. (if you have sensitive teeth your teeth may get more sensitive, so be careful.))
  • lightly wet the brush head of your cleansing brush and lightly wet your face.
  • put some facial cleanser on your face (whatever cleanser you use – personally i use two different cleansers for the morning and the night, and the one i use in the morning is clean & clear morning burst skin-brightening cleanser, which you can find at walmart). spread it evenly over your skin.
  • turn your brush on (for the mornings i usually put it on the low setting) and move it around in circular motions (moving up and outwards) until the cleanser looks like it’s blended into your skin a little bit.
  • rinse your brush head off and set it on the side of the sink to drain a little bit while you rinse your face off. (USE LUKEWARM WATER. hot water is too abrasive and strips your face of ALL its oils, which is bad.)
  • pat your face dry. also pat your brush head dry. (be gentle with your brush head or all the bristles will go haywire and it won’t be good anymore.)
  • now tone. for a toner i use burt’s bees natural acne solutions clarifying toner (which i found at target), but it’s a little abrasive and drying (it has salicylic acid and witch hazel in it), so those of you with dry or more sensitive skin may want something more soothing with ingredients like rose water or aloe vera. just grab your toner, grab a cotton ball, put some toner on it and swab it all over your face and neck, always swiping upwards.
  • moisturize. (personally i use two different moisturizers for morning and night, and for morning i use spa naturals coconut oil moisturizing cream, which can be found out dollar tree for, you guessed it, a dollar.) just rub it into your face – keep in mind, a little dab’ll do ya. if you go hog wild, it’ll be too much and your skin will be gross.
  • i finish off with a facial mist – i use garnier skinactive soothing facial mist with rose water. it gives a nice soothing finish to my face, and although i don’t wear makeup, i’ve heard it makes a nice setting spray.
  • for my lips during the daytime, i use burt’s bees beeswax lip balm. i constantly chew my lips (thanks, anxiety) and this lip balm still manages to keep them soft and smooth.

NIGHT ROUTINE:

  • brush your teeth, then wash your face just like you did in the morning. i mentioned that i use two different cleansers, and i do – at night i use st. ives fresh skin apricot scrub.
  • tone.
  • moisturize. as a night moisturizer, i use cosmetic lad from lush.
  • finish off with your facial mist.
  • i also put vaseline on my eyelashes – it takes a while for results, but they do get thicker and a LOT longer.
  • before i go to sleep, i put on carmex lip balm. it keeps your lips moisturized while you sleep and you wake up with them soft. careful, though – carmex lip balm is really thick, so don’t apply a lot of pressure when you put it on.

MASKS:

  • i do masks twice a week: wednesday nights and sunday nights.
  • on wednesday, i wash my face with let the good times roll face and body cleanser from lush, then use the mask of magnaminty from lush. let it sit for ten minutes, then wash it off, tone, moisturize and mist.
  • on sunday nights, i apply birth of venus jelly mask from lush, let it sit for ten minutes, then apply let the good times roll on top of it and wash my face off. then i tone, moisturize and mist.
  • on the nights i do face masks, i also use bubblegum lip scrub from lush on my lips to get all the dead skin off, and then apply carmex lip balm. sometimes, if i’ve been biting my lips a lot recently, i’ll do it more often than twice a week, but i never do it two days in a row, bc that’s a good way to get your lips really dry and cracked.
  • on nights i use masks, i also use apple cider vinegar with the mother (find it at just about any grocery store) – i put it on a cotton ball and use it almost like a toner, but after i’ve toned, moisturized and misted. it evens out the ph of your skin and helps clear up acne scars – it smells horrible, but it’s worth it. (don’t use too much, bc vinegar is acidic and if you use too much it’ll throw off your ph instead of evening it out. if you have dry skin, you may want to skip this step entirely.)

here’s a pic of all the products i use (except the lip scrub, bc 1. you can go to lush and find like thirty different flavors, so it doesn’t really matter what it looks like anyways – just look for the lip scrub section at lush and pick your flavor, and 2. i forgot to put it in the pic and i’m too lazy to retake it. i also neglected to include the apple cider vinegar bc it comes in a big ass glass bottle and i’m always nervous that i’m gonna drop it and break it):

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

  • my facial cleansing brush
  • clean & clear morning burst skin brightening facial cleanser (my morning face wash)
  • st. ives fresh skin apricot scrub (my night face wash)
  • burt’s bees natural acne solutions clarifying toner
  • spa naturals coconut oil moisturizing cream (my morning moisturizer)
  • cosmetic lad facial moisturizer (my night moisturizer)
  • garnier skinactive soothing facial mist with rose water
  • burt’s bees beeswax lip balm
  • carmex lip balm
  • vaseline (for my eyelashes at night)
  • birth of venus jelly mask
  • mask of magnaminty face mask
  • let the good times roll facial cleanser

NOT PICTURED:

  • bubblegum lip scrub
  • apple cider vinegar with the mother

above all, drink water (some people say it doesn’t help your skin BUT even if it doesn’t at least you stay hydrated and healthy!), and drink a cup of green tea nightly or bi-nightly.

i hope this changes some of yall’s lives bc it sure as heck changed mine!!

2

Rosemary, pepper, lavender skillet bread.
2 cups lukewarm water
2 ¼ tsp yeast
4 1/3 cups flour
1 tbsp herb mix
Rock salt
Olive oil

Herb mix: grind black pepper corns, lavender rosemary and salt in a mortar using equal parts (maybe a smudge less lavender than everything else)

In a bowl, add water and yeast, stir to dissolve and let set for 5 minutes.
Add in 1 cup flour and herb mix, stirring with a wooden spoon.
Continue adding in flour until fully mixed.
Cover and Let proof in a warm spot for an hour.
Coat your cast iron skillet with olive oil and sprinkle flour on the dough and your hands to help minimize stickiness.
Fold “ugly parts” under and place in oiled pan.
Cover and let sit another 30 minutes
Preheat oven to 400 F
Pour more olive oil on top to make sure the entire top is coated.
Sprinkle salt and extra herbs on top, cut an X and bake for approximately 30 minutes depending on size of pan.
Top will be a nice brown, transfer to a cooling rack, or serve in the skillet after letting it cool down.

Pepper for invigorating energies, rosemary for peace, salt for cleansing, lavender for calming, and yeast for growth.

✨Hoe Tips✨ Skincare Ed.

1. Find products for YOUR specific skin type. Look into ingredients like salicylic acid (for normal/oily skin) or glycolic acid (for dryer/aged skin) and see how they affect your specific skin type. Don’t just do Proactiv or whatever bevause everyone else does it.
2. Kinda goes with no. 1, but look at the ingredients in whatever you’re putting on your face. Labels like “paraben free” are typically better for your skin. Look up ingredients you aren’t sure of, and make sure they aren’t notably corrosive chemicals.
3. Do a swatch test on your wrist or forearm for all skin products before putting them on your face. If the product irritates the skin on your arm, DO NOT put it on your face.
4. Do a mask once a week to really clean out your pores (cheap ones can be found at Target, Walmart, or your local pharmacy).
5. Drink lots of water, and eat fresh fruits.
6. MOISTURIZE DAILY. Even if you have oily skin (there are moisturizers specifically made for oily skin types). Moisturizers with SPF are a bonus for extra protection.
7. Shower/wash your face with lukewarm/cooler water. Hot water can dry out your skin immensely.
8. My skincare routine order: remove makeup, facewash, exfoliator, mask, toner, acne/spot treatment, moisturizer/spf
9. Never ever ever sleep with makeup on
10. Coconut oil and other essential oils can be great for your skin, but they can also clog up pores if you have an oily skintype. Bear that in mind.
11. Try to buy skincare products of the same brand, or at least that have similar ingredients. Mixing the wrong brands/chemicals can cause acid burn on your face (which from personal experience hurts like a bitch and takes a while to heal.)
12. Witch hazel is a fantastic all natural toner
13. For more acne prone skin, try to find a moisturizer with salicylic acid for that extra defense. Clean and clear ($8 at any drugstore) works wonders
14. Don’t pop your pimples ever (but if you do, make sure to only pop the whiteheads)
15. Those tiny black dots on your nose are supposed to be there. They’re pores, not blackheads, and should be cleansed regularly. However, you should still have those little pores on your nose visibly. Stop tryna get rid of them.
15. Touch your face as little as possible
16. Change your pillowcases often, especially if you sleep on your front
17. Every few months, change up the brand of your skincare products. The oils and bacteria on your skin eventually adapt to the products you use, and they stop being as effective
18. Some brands of birth control can actually double to clear up your skin
19. Wash your scalp and hair often, especially if you have acne on your hairline
20. Relax. Skin can be severely affected by extreme stress levels
21. Swap out your heavy foundation for a light BB cream on casual days. BB cream is more protective and moisturizing for your skin, and still offers natural coverage
22. Look for makeup products with SPF. These products can moisturize and protect your skin from sun damage while still keepin ya face beat
23. Always moisturize and prime before putting on makeup, to make it last longer and to keep your pores clear despite layers of foundation, concealer, powder, etc
24. Splash/spray some rose water onto your face before moisturizing. This both tones and hydrates your face to really lock in moisture.
25. Don’t go overboard with the amount of products you put on your face. Sometimes, less is more.

✨Thats all for now hoes enjoy ya clear skin✨

NO-KNEAD CRUSTY ARTISAN BREAD

One of my most reader-tested and approved recipes! This crusty, fluffy artisan bread needs only 4 ingredients and 5 minutes to come together… you won’t believe how easy and delicious it is!

The beautiful, crusty and fluffy bread that results from just four ingredients will knock your socks off! All it takes is flour, salt, yeast and water, all mixed up in a bowl and set to rest for 8-24 hours.

Just make sure your flour is fresh and yeast isn’t expired. I’ve used both active dry yeast and highly active dry yeast with great results!

NO-KNEAD CRUSTY ARTISAN BREAD
YIELD: Makes 1 loaf
INGREDIENTS:
3 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons kosher salt (not table salt)

½ teaspoon dry yeast (active dry or highly active dry work best)

1 ½ cups lukewarm water

Special cookware needed: Dutch oven or any large oven-safe dish/bowl and lid*

DIRECTIONS:
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, salt and yeast. Stir in water using a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a shaggy but cohesive dough. Do not over-work the dough. The less you “work” it, the more soft, fluffy air pockets will form.

Cover bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Let dough sit at room temperature for 8-24 hours*. Dough will bubble up and rise.

After dough is ready, preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Place your Dutch oven, uncovered, into the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

While your Dutch oven preheats, turn dough onto a well-floured surface. With floured hands, form the dough into a ball. Cover dough loosely with plastic wrap and let rest.

After the 30 minutes are up, carefully remove Dutch oven. With floured hands, place the bread dough into it. (You can put a piece of parchment under the dough if your Dutch oven isn’t enamel coated.)

Replace cover and bake for 30 minutes covered. Carefully remove cover and bake for 7-15 minutes* more, uncovered.

Carefully remove bread to a cutting board and slice with a bread knife.

Enjoy!

NOTES

Uncovered baking time depends on your oven. In my oven, the bread only needs 7 minutes uncovered until crusty and golden brown, but this can vary. Just keep an eye on it!

Preheating your Dutch oven to 450 degrees F will not damage it, or the knob on top.

I’ve let this dough rise anywhere between 8-24 hours and it has baked up beautifully. Just make sure it has risen and appears to “bubble” to the surface.

There’s no need to grease the Dutch oven/baking dish/pot. My bread has never stuck to the pot. If you are concerned though, put a piece of parchment paper under your dough before placing into your pot.

I do not recommend using whole wheat flour or white whole wheat flour in this recipe. The resulting bread will be very dense, and not as fluffy and delicious.

I used a 5.5 quart enameled cast iron Le Creuset pot, but you can use any large oven-safe dish and cover. All of these also work: a baking dish covered with aluminum foil, crockpot insert, stainless steel pot with a lid, pizza stone with an oven-safe bowl to cover the bread, and old cast iron Dutch oven.

Add any mix-ins you like - herbs, spices, dried fruit, chopped nuts and cheese all work well. I recommend adding them into the initial flour-yeast mixture to avoid over-working the mix-ins into the dough. The less you “work” it, the more you’re encouraging soft, fluffy air pockets to form!

How to wash your hair.

I’ve been doing it wrong apparently.

  1. Use lukewarm water. Not hot.
  2. Don’t use more than a coin-sized shampoo dollop.
  3. Only shampoo the roots - it dries out the ends.
  4. Only condition the ends - it makes the roots oily.
  5. Double shampoo, single conditioner.
  6. Comb in the shower before rinsing out the conditioner.
  7. Pat dry with a towel - rubbing breaks it.
  8. Use coconut oil or argan oil on the ends whilst damp to avoid splits.
  9. Let it air dry whenever possible - artificial heat makes it brittle.

A Package Marked “Return to sender”

by reddit user manen_lyset

My neighbor is one of those annoying wannabe YouTube personalities. Over the years, I’ve seen him cough out cinnamon, lay flat on the hood of his car as it slowly creeps down the driveway, and douse himself in lukewarm water, all the while screaming epic win, epic fail, or, fuck, epic maintenance of the status quo, for all I know. It can get tiring to watch him go about his shenanigans in the pursuit of viral fame.

So, when he knocked on my door the other day, told me he was going away for a few weeks, and asked that I get his mail, honestly, it was a relief. I can’t explain the peace of mind I had knowing I didn’t have to brace myself for any of his stupidity for a while. I was always afraid his stunts would wind up bleeding over into my life.

MASTERLIST.

Gray. A whole world of nothing but gray tones and colors, a vast emptiness that has no start or finish…That is what you see, or at least what you think you see. The first time you had been here was right after being shot, faced with a dilemma whether to live on as a…being or die as yourself. Putting your trust into the wrong people had driven you to the first option. That day there was darkness all around you. Now it’s all simply gray. The surface of this place is wet, calm streams of water rush by your feet, but why or to where you have no clue. Gray. Time passes neither fast nor slow, you cannot dream or eat or do anything but exist and feel certain things. Only strong emotions though, the ones that are powerful enough to break the shell of indifference that constantly surrounds you. Those emotions flash in bright violent colors, namely blue and red, representing of the two other people stuck here with you. Celine and…Damien.

Today I woke up ridiculously bloated only to discover I got my period a day earlier. Anyways it’s actually a relief since there was a small fear in the back of my mind that I might have gotten myself in trouble, after drinking my ass off and then fucking the barman (I had the suspicion that he might have taken the condom off later during sex, which he later reassured me he didn’t but you can never be too safe with men…) I am also planning to test myself for STD’s not that he had something but you know just to be safe and out of respect for my future partners. Anyways enought of this nonesense drama, so my bloating is like… extravagant! It might be the fact that I was sick and im still on antibiotics(they have recked havoc on my gut :’/) but im feeling so bad and I thought I’d share with you my advice on how to get through this.

Time to wash all that blood off…

-A hot bath.                                                                                                         Not too hot and avoid it all together if you’re a heavy bleeder. It will help ease the cramps though and relax you in general, we all know how cranky we get during that time. Add some vanilla, you favorite bath melt or some essential oils (but for gods shake no shower gels! Remember the Kitty post?) Treat yo’self princess.

-Loads of water.                                                                                                  A hydrated uterus is a happy uterus. Everything will function much better plus drinking water will help release some of that water weight your belly’s been holding onto for dear life.

-Tea.                                                                                                                     Tea’s like water but also good for your soul. Go for green tea for a punch of antioxidants, chamomile tea because you’re a fucking fairy and you love your floral water or lipton cupcake tea beacause you’re on your period and you feel like it. (optional add-ins: honey, coconut sugar, maple syrup.)

-Pamper yourself.                                                                                              Shave, wash your hair, scrub, apply a thick coat of that delicious body butter, spray your favorite perfume, change your sheets, light a candle or two, play some music or watch your favorite series (Supernatural fans I’m looking at you…)

-Don’t eat unhealthy.                                                                                         I know baby girl, I know, those donuts are calling your name and there’s a tub of ice cream waiting to be bought just from you, but I promise you, you’ll feel like crap after all that… So skip the french fries and reach for some fresh salad or a nice plate of spaghetti al pomodoro fresco e basilico (Cause you’re a fancy bitch).

-Do eat though.                                                                                                    Fresh fruits and veggies, legumes, meat… all that stuff’s so good for you and your tummyin distress. Keep full so you don’t get extra bitchy but also fuel your body correctly. It will help with all the pms symptoms.

-Exercise.                                                                                                              No, bad girl, don’t just slouch on your couch all day. Those cramps sure are a hell of an excuse to nap extensively but it won’t do you any good. Do sleep adequetly but get up and get active! You’ll feel so much more energized.

-Bonus tips:

Avoid tampons, they’re extremely unhealthy, opt for pads or menstrual cups instead.

Rinse your coochie after every visit to the bathroom with plenty of lukewarm water and carry baby wipes with you when you go out. ( I like to use babywipes in general but especially during my period as they clean everything so much better and freshen you up!)

Carry an “emergency” bag. Have some pads,a clean pair of underwear, your babywipes, some tissue and a wet bag for accidents. Keep one in your purse, in your car, at your boyfriends house, work, school, etc… Plus try and keep an extra pair of pants wherever possible.

Monday through Friday I sit on a chair in front of a desk and look at a computer and draw Content and listen to throaty female vocalists and think about my life and sometimes how badly I have to pee because I drink too much lukewarm water.

  11. Smile to strangers
  12. Drink water!

  29. Go over the day in your head and find peace with it, if something unsettling happened.
