The classic ringing of your alarm urged you awake. A light groan passes your lips, smacking the alarm’s snooze button you bury yourself in your blanket and pillow, hoping to get another minute of shut eye before getting ready. The sudden light weight of the blanket and emptiness of the bed makes you lift your head, noticing your little cat was not resting with you.
“Lucky?” You call out hoping to hear her the light sound of her bell.
The small cat whose fur was a mix of orange and white had been with you for years. You had found her at a shelter that was just about to shut down. Your eyes caught on to the little cat sitting all by its lonesome. Although small, she was a full grown and apparently none of the other customers were interested in an adult.
“Lucky you came in here.” The worker stated as she stared at you petting the shy animal, “She’s been tossed through various shelters. Poor girl has been through a lot.”
You smiled at the cat purring against your touch, “Lucky huh?”
You shut off your alarm, dragging yourself out of bed, you stretched as you walked tiredly to the bathroom. You had assumed Lucky was hiding or resting elsewhere in the apartment. With the toothbrush in your mouth, you began to look in all of her hiding spaces. Under the bed, in the closet, under your desk, in the kitchen. You scratched your head and in light panic, you began to call for her.
“Lucky?! Lucky where are you? Lucky come here.”
Finally it had occurred to you. You had left the windows open last night, your air conditioning had broke and you hoped the cool night air would at least help a bit. You walked out onto your balcony, the proximity of your balcony and both of your neighbors was close enough for your cat to wonder over. Lucky had especially taken interest to the left neighbors balcony, who you had become quite close with.
Often times when let out, Lucky would venture over Taehyung’s balcony. Clawing at the man’s door and getting his attention. Using her ‘ultimate cuteness’ as Taehyung would say, Lucky would be able to coax Taehyung into giving her food. Now Taehyung had required the habit of buying cat treats, feeding Lucky almost every day.
“Tae!” You shouted hoping maybe he would hear you, “TAE!” You shouted louder when moments of silence passed. You were about to shout once more when the door slid open, revealing a brown messy mop of hair and eyes squinting as a toothbrush dangled from his mouth.
“What.” It came out more of a whine as he ruffled his hair and trying to get his eyes adjusted to the light.
“Is Lucky with you?” You were trying to look into his home in hopes of catching the mischevious cat.
Taehyung shook his head, “I just woke up, she hasn’t come by yet. She’s not with you?”
A sigh passed your lips and worry started to crowd your mind, “No.” You whined, “She wasn’t sleeping with me and I looked all over the place and and oh my god.” You were starting to get overwhelmed, “I can’t find her.”
‘Relax” Taehyung tried to assure you, “Maybe she’s hiding some place new, I’ll come over and help you look.”
“Yeah but what if……”
Your words were cut off when the sound of a door sliding open reached your ears. You and Taehyung turned, looking to your other side neighbor who had decided to make an entrance. Curiosity present in both yours and Taehyung’s eyes because you two hadn’t realized that someone had rented the apartment next to yours.
It almost seemed like you couldn’t breathe at this point because in your mind, this was the most beautiful man you had ever seen. Blonde hair, fair skin, gorgeous in a simple white t-shirt and sweatpants. If you were next to Taehyung, you would probably be slapping him silly in hopes that he too could see the angel walking in front of you.
“Y/N” Taehyung whispered, reaching a hand and lightly touching you. You jumped from his touch, causing him to laugh, “You’re practically drooling.” He teases quietly.
“Shut up.” You try hitting him but he’s far from your reach. When you look back, that’s when you notice it. Lucky rested gently against the man’s arms and chest, obviously happy with the touch of his, “LUCKY!” You shouted, making the guy jump and your cat give a startled look.
Lucky crawls out of his grasp, jumping flawlessly onto your balcony. You bend down to her level, “Hey. You can’t just go scaring me like that.” You scold Lucky who seems to not understand a word you say. You turn back to your new neighbor, “I’m so sorry. She usually doesn’t go onto that balcony.”
He smiles, one that takes your breath away, “It’s no problem. She’s cute and her owners not so bad herself.” He winks, making a light blush pass your cheeks, he leans over his balcony, extending a hand, “I’m Jimin. Park Jimin. I just moved in yesterday.”
You take his hand, giving a light shake, “I’m Y/N.” A smile spreads on your face, “Welcome to the building. If you need anything let me or Taehyung know” You say as you gesture to Taehyung who’s giving a small wave.
“Actually.” Jimin starts, “You see the delivery guys must have messed up a bit because I don’t have my kitchen supplies, so I have nothing to cook with.”
“Have me for dinner.” You accidentally blurt out too fast, causing the words to get mixed up and your face to heat up in embarrassment. Jimin’s eyes widen as you hear Taehyung spit in the background and what appears to be him trying to cover up his laughter.
Cheeks flushed and the tips of your ears going red, “I mean have dinner with me.” You explain, “I can cook for you and maybe we can see if the delivery guys still have your stuff.”
Jimin gives you a wide smile, his eyes turning into crescent moons, “I’d love that. How about around 8? And I hope little Lucky can join us.” You nod enthusiastically, yelling out a “of course” as Jimin slowly heads back into his apartment.
“Have me for dinner.” Taehyung mocks and you scowl at him as he retreats back into his home, “Just get a room already.” You hear him mumble before his door closes.
You pick up Lucky, the one who had started the whole mess in the first place. You give her a little frown, “You’re so lucky you got me a date with the cute neighbor or else I would have scolded you more.”
