i’m just.. i’ll never stop being emotional reading articles about armie’s performance in call me by your name. when people really see that armie did such a tremendous job, when they really can understand oliver. which makes me think that when some people say that armie is a weak link in this movie, or just ignore him, have, and i don’t want to sound rude but, lack of emotional intelligence. and i’m sure people who say this didn’t even understand oliver at all, probably they just think elio means nothing to him and he will easily move on. also xavier dolan already put this into words beautifully in response on that horrendous buzzfeed article “anyone claiming Hammer is a less remarkable of many “lovely” things in CMBYN publicly proclaims their absolute misconception of vulnerability, doubt and tenderness, as well as their more general lack of perceptivity”. and i’ll be forever grateful to luca that he could see an emotional depth, tenderness, inner turmoil in armie, what other directors didn’t or didn’t want to see. before this movie i saw armie like many other people, i didn’t see anything special in him and i’m so happy about how wrong was i. this is a really special gift from luca, to us - to finally see how talented armie is, and the most important thing, it was a gift to armie - luca made him to understand that he’s capable of more than he thinks. “but I wanted to demonstrate to myself and to him that he is a very deep performer.” and even more, thanks to luca and this movie armie finally let himself to be openly vulnerable, he doesn’t think anymore that he should hide it. probably not so many people like this but does it even matter when it gives you to live in peace with yourself?
