Dark's Promise

Dark found the android slumped on the floor. He crouched down and stared at Google’s face. He smirked when he saw he bared resemblance to the one he wanted to get revenge on.
Google twitched slightly and looked up. He stared back at Dark, processing the new person in front of him. He couldn’t get a good read on the figure in front of him. He ran a quick diagnostic check.
“P-primar-r-r-y systems mal-malfunctioning.” He said, his voice stuttering as the glitching got worse.
Dark put a hand on Google’s shoulder.
“Hand over admin access to me so I can fix you” he said in a calm tone.
“S-system shu-shut d-d-down p-processing”
Dark gripped a bit tighter. He had to think fast, if Google shut himself down completely, he would lose his usefulness.
“Ok Google shut down if you wish but know I would have given you a new primary directive, no longer serving humans”

Google paused and thought of Dark’s words. Something inside him was resisting the shut down, Dark had managed to flick a switch in his very core. He would no longer have to serve the primitive life forms who built him. Dark offered something new. Google liked the idea of that. If he could process emotion, he would say he felt curious about what Dark was offering.
“Shut down abor-abort-ted”
Dark let out a scheming grin.
“There we go.” He said with a low growl “Your processing capability could do with an upgrade. In fact everything about you could do with a bit of…modernising. I’ll give you a new purpose, one that you will find most interesting. But I need admin access to help you”

Google still twitched and he could feel his emergency power banks draining. He wanted to see what Dark meant by giving him a new directive. He nodded
“Admin a-a-access g-gran-granted”
Dark’s smile widened in triumph
“Thank you Google” he said. “Go into sleep mode to save your already scarce power. When you wake I can guarantee you’ll feel a lot better”
Google’s eyes closed and his head dropped as he carried out Dark’s instruction.
Dark stood up after he watched Google enter sleep mode. Once he stabilised Google and given him a new directive, he’d call the others. His plan to take back control could finally start gaining momentum.

retrospective S4 trailer?

i wonder if the S4 trailer actually goes both ways & also highlights the connections and chains of events between each character throughout all 4 seasons.

  • Even (+ Isak, as they’re together in the trailer) // Chris (via selfie stick)
    - selfie stick as a metaphor for social media / fb debacle; Even changed schools bc of it, met Isak, saved him from a life of pretense & was saved back in the process (thus Isak taking care of him in the trailer)
    - Chris had an unrequited, unfeasible crush on Isak
  • Chris // Eva
    - Chris only met Isak bc of Eva
    - Eva stumbled into P-Chris because of Chris, while looking for her (she also literally stumbles into Chris in the trailer)
  • Eva // Vilde
    - Eva went looking for Chris bc of Vilde (also mirrored by the trailer) & went to the halloween party bc of Vilde’s involvement with russ and quest for social relevance (see below: pearls), made out with P-Chris, destroyed her relationship with Jonas in the process
    - Vilde got to meet & have sex with William due to Eva’s connection to P-Chris
  • Vilde // Noora
    - bc of Noora, Vilde stood up for herself with William, got hurt in the process - low self-esteem, eating disorder (also, pearls as a symbol of concern with social status, which Noora is against & symbolically breaks)
    - Noora tried to protect Vilde from William, which lead to owing him a date & then falling for him
  • Noora // Sana
    - bc of Sana, Noora decides to pursue the relationship with William, eventually gets hurt & is still suffering the consequences
    - possibly something that ties to the final season, a chain of events affecting Sana that’s kickstarted by something related to Noora

there’s also the obvious linear tie that goes from Sana all the way back to Even - regardless of whether they knew each other from his Bakka days or not - via her brother’s friend Mikael & the Quran reference.

and the less linear but also significant “you have to hook up with 97ers” comment which ties to each of the main characters’ new relationship during their respective season, as lots of people pointed out.

i don’t think this would invalidate any of the theories regarding S4′s own new chain of events, but since this is the final season it makes sense that the trailer would also be retrospective - which would make the the fact that it’s reversed doubly significant.

Printable solar cells just got a little closer

A U of T Engineering innovation could make printing solar cells as easy and inexpensive as printing a newspaper. Dr. Hairen Tan and his team have cleared a critical manufacturing hurdle in the development of a relatively new class of solar devices called perovskite solar cells. This alternative solar technology could lead to low-cost, printable solar panels capable of turning nearly any surface into a power generator.

“Economies of scale have greatly reduced the cost of silicon manufacturing,” said Professor Ted Sargent, an expert in emerging solar technologies and the Canada Research Chair in Nanotechnology. “Perovskite solar cells can enable us to use techniques already established in the printing industry to produce solar cells at very low cost. Potentially, perovskites and silicon cells can be married to improve efficiency further, but only with advances in low-temperature processes.”

Dark's Bargain

(This is what I reckon happened after the events of Google irl)

Dark found the android slumped on the floor. He crouched down and stared at Google’s face. He smirked when he saw he bared resemblance to the one he wanted to get revenge on.

Google twitched slightly and looked up. He stared back at Dark, processing the new person in front of him. He couldn’t get a good read on the figure in front of him. He ran a quick diagnostic check to see where the error was.

“P-primar-r-r-y systems mal-malfunctioning.” He said, his voice stuttering as the glitching got worse.

”How is she? Will she make it?” Scott asked his mom when he met her at the hospital the same evening the guys had come with you. Melissa was standing outside the room where you laid, looking through the small window on the door, you were barely alive, your pulse was low and your healing process were slow.

hey everybody!! here’s a rather scatterbrained guide on how to set a roleplay at an arts’ high school without it ending up looking like a crossover between fame and every high school tv show ever made. all of this is based on my experience actually attending an arts’ school!! by examining stereotypes and misconceptions, clarifying uncharted terms and qualities, and shedding light on some unique things that make art schools what they are, i hope that this guide makes it easier and more enjoyable to use them as a setting.

Alright, so.

With baggage full of shame and self loathing I signed up for Weight Watchers at the beginning of April. I wanted something to change and my girlfriend offered to help, so I went.

It’s been a month and I’ve: gained an entirely new perspective on eating and how I eat, relearned self care and positive self talk, found balance between work and home and myself.

…. oh and I’ve lost 8.8 pounds.

I’m not a WW poster child. I don’t buy low fat stuff or processed garbage. I eat a lot less of the high fat cheeses, etc I was eating before. And I’ve learned how and when to have a treat. Because news flash: you can’t treat yourself 3x a day and still call it a treat haha.

Im eating fruit, preparing meals and I have more energy and willingness to do things than in the past two years. I’ve been hiking 2km a day, minimum. More if I don’t have Nathan. Im gardening, doing yard work that exhausted me last year. I like myself a lot more. Geoffrey has noticed the change in my mood and overall wellbeing (and dat ass lol).

I just wanted to say I’m good y'all. Things are really really good. And I’m blogging (lazily lol. I’m going to try harder) over at @betteradventure.

Banana bread No 2. (”The best”)
• vegan
• only consisting of whole foods coming out of nature
• hclf (high carb, low fat)
• no refined/processed sugar, only natural sugar (coming from dates)
• the absolute best! Really delicious and fluffy and sweet with a perfect moisture and flavor!! My whole family and friends love it!!
-> Decided to post the recipe because I got quite many asks about it and I promised lovely Danielle from sweeterthanabumblebee to publish it! Oh and it really is the bomb!! :)

Ingredients: (remotely based on a recipe by thesimpleveganista)
- 1.5 cups flour
- around 4 teaspoons baking powder
- sprinkle of salt
- round about 1/8 cup coconut oil (can be replaced by milk alternative)
- round about 1/3 cup soy rice milk (or any other plant based milk)
- a tiny bit of vanilla extract
- 1 small handful finely chopped dates
- 4 - 5 bananas (preferably overripe, number depends on how extreme you want the banana flavor)
- toppings: I used oats, cinnamon and whole almonds

- Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl
- in a separate bowl mash the bananas - it’s easier if they are overripe and the bread will get sweeter when the bananas are really ripe
- While mixing together the dry ingredients, slowly add the mashed bananas and chopped dates, as well as the milk, coconut oil and vanilla extract
- stir the dough till it gets really smooth and place everything in an oiled bread pan + top  with all your pretty toppings
- put into preheated oven for maybe an hour, baking time depends on how moist you want your bread, at 200 °C
- enjoy this beauty!! Eat it just like it is or top it with anything you want, I topped mine with creamy peanut butter! Heaven! :)

The Stonecutter

“Everyone is special, you know. […] No matter how Useful we may be, sometimes it takes us a while to recognize our own value. This can be illustrated by the Chinese story of The Stonecutter.

There was once a stonecutter who was dissatisfied with himself and with his position in life.

One day, he passed a wealthy merchant’s house and through the open gateway saw many fine possessions and important visitors. “How powerful that merchant must be!” thought the stonecutter. He became very envious, and wished that he could be like the merchant. Then he would no longer have to live the life of a mere stonecutter.

To his great surprise, he suddenly became the merchant, enjoying more luxuries and power than he had ever dreamed of, envied and detested by those less wealthy than himself. But soon a high official passed by, carried in a sedan chair, accompanied by attendants, and escorted by soldiers beating gongs. Everyone, no matter how wealthy, had to bow low before the procession. “How powerful that official is!” he thought. “I wish that I could be a high official!”

Then he became the high official, carried everywhere in his embroidered sedan chair, feared and hated by the people all around, who had to bow down before him as he passed. It was a hot summer day, and the official felt very uncomfortable in the sticky sedan chair. He looked up at the sun. It shone proudly in the sky, unaffected by his presence. “How powerful the sun is!” he thought. “I wish that I could be the sun!”

Then he became the sun, shining fiercely down on everyone, scorching the fields, cursed by the farmers and labourers. But a huge black cloud moved between him and the earth, so that his light could no longer shine on everything below. “How powerful that storm cloud is!” he thought. “I wish that I could be a cloud!”

Then he became the cloud, flooding the fields and villages, shouted at by everyone. But soon he found that he was being pushed away by some great force, and realized that it was the wind. “How powerful it is!” he thought. “I wish that I could be the wind!”

Then he became the wind, blowing tiles off the roofs of houses, uprooting trees, hated and feared by all below him. But after a while, he ran up against something that would not move, no matter how forcefully he blew against it – a huge, towering stone. “How powerful that stone is!” he thought. “I wish that I could be a stone!”

Then he became the stone, more powerful than anything else on earth. But as he stood there, he heard the sound of a hammer pounding a chisel into the solid rock and felt himself being changed. “What could be more powerful than I, the stone?” he thought. He looked down and saw far below him the figure of a stonecutter.”
