Author’s Note: @yourtropegirl requested a POTUS AU where Jim becomes president and needs to pick code names. You guys, I’m at a loss. I just don’t know enough about the finer details of American politics to have made this any good, but I hope it’s at least somewhat amusing…
“I really don’t think this is the time to be doing this, Jim.” There were a million other details that were more pressing before the inauguration. Jim was completely fixated on code names.
“Y/N, this is important to me. I won’t be able to relax and appoint my cabinet unless we have code names,” Jim countered.
“Are you kidding me?” You asked, questioning whether the man was even mentally competent to be president. He smiled broadly and nodded.
“Look, when I was eight, I decided I was going to be president one day. And I had a notebook that I kept all my presidential plans in,” he started, reaching into the breast pocket of his suit and pulling out an old tattered scribbler. “My first order of business was code names. Now, there might be some real wisdom in these pages. And there might not. But it just wouldn’t be true to eight-year-old Jimmy if I didn’t do code names first.” He dropped the notebook on the table, and opened it, obviously for the first time in thirty years by the look on his face.
