Where am I supposed to go? I can’t go back to the attic. No. You don’t have to, Polly. And don’t worry about my mom, Betty, she’ll want to help.

James and Lily

When they were 11

He made loud fart noises in the corridor to amuse his friends.

She rolled her eyes and kept walking.

When they were 12

He would have water fights in the common room.

She scowled as she dodged the enchanted water balloon.

He would shout out answers over her in class.

She ignored him and got top marks anyway.

When they were 13

He and his friends filled the great hall with jelly as a joke.

She shouted when a leftover piece fell on her head the next day.

He charmed balls of paper to fly at her head.

She hexed him.

When they were 14

He batted his eyelashes and got an extension on his homework.

She scolded him for it after.

He set loose the blast ended skrewts.

She spent her lunch helping round them all up.

He started to call her stupid nicknames.

She shot back with stupider insults.

When they were 15

He charmed off a boys hair one day.

She helped the boy figure out how to grow it back.

He harassed her in the corridor with annoying proposals.

She thought she hated him.

He got caught by the Greenhouses smoking with his friend.

She and Remus monitored his detention. She asked Remus why he was so annoying, he said he was more than the arrogant show he put on.

He pulled down Severus’ trousers in front of a crowd of people.

She defended someone who wasn’t a good person.

He followed her around trying to apologise.

She thought maybe Remus was right.

When they were 16

He made his stationary fly around the classroom to amuse people.

She grinned and told him to stop.

He flooded the fourth floor.

She cursed him as she helped get rid of the water.

He gave a bar of chocolate to a crying first year.

She thought maybe he wasn’t all that bad.

He carried his friend’s books when he was feeling ill.

She thought he was actually quite nice.

He helped her with difficult homework.

She smiled and said thank you.

He made conversation as they walked to class together.

She was shocked when she realised she was friends with him.

When they were 17

He wrote to her over the holidays.

She replied.

He threw a big celebration party in the common room.

She had a fun time with her friends dancing and drinking until dawn.

He loved the way she rolled her eyes at him.

She loved the way the combed his fingers through his hair unconsciously.

He went home for the summer realising that maybe she might feel the same way.

She realised she had fallen for someone she thought she hated.

He came back to school as Head Boy.

She came back as Head Girl.

He grew up and took the responsibility seriously.

She felt her chest swell as she watched him grow.

He asked if she wanted to go out. That maybe after all this time…

She realised that the answer had always been yes.

When they were 18

He loved the way her hair fell around her shoulders, the way she smiled when he touched her and they way she would laugh as she kissed him.

She loved the way he slung his arm over her whenever he stood next to her, they way he would grin when he made eye contact and the way the played with her hair as she dozed next to him.

He made the suits of armour tell jokes when someone walked past.

She giggled and realised some things never change.

He started to prepare for a world that was getting darker every day.

She started to prepare for a world that scared her a little.

He ended the school year with a bang, literally. He and his friends threw a farewell party.

She spent the night laughing and crying, promising everyone that it wasn’t really goodbye.

He left school, bought a flat, and began to train to fight a war he was too young to fight in.

She left school, moved into his flat, and began to train for a war she was determined to win.

He loved her and he told her every day.

She loved him and would never let him forget it.

When they were 19

He would come home dirty and bruised.

She would return scratched and messy.

He would heal her wounds and hold her close.

She would mend his cuts and kiss him gently.

He would fight like there was no tomorrow.

She would attack like it was the only defence.

He was frightened.

She was worried.

He found comfort in her.

She found solace in him.

He realised he couldn’t live without her.

She realised he kept her going.

He said ‘marry me’.

She said ‘only if you marry me first’.

He married a girl he had loved since he was 11.

She married a boy she had never hated.

When they were 20

He still had a war to fight in.

She still had to bring justice to her world.

He worried when he heard her throwing up one morning.

She worried when he joked she might be pregnant.

He knew there would be day when he would make an unfunny joke.

She realised today was that day.

He had to shift his world to make room for a baby.

She had to prepare for a world with more people to love in it.

He was as excited as could be.

She was always smiling despite it all.

He wanted to name the baby Harold.

She like Barry.

He decided to compromise.

She agreed on Harry.

He couldn’t stop shaking when they baby was born.

She couldn’t stop cradling her son.

He and his friends stayed up four nights in a row with the baby, just to play with him.

She had her friends over for a weekend, just to coo over him.

He was told his friends couldn’t come any more. But it kept his child safe.

She was heartbroken people could come to visit, but it kept her family whole.

When they were 21

He enjoyed the quiet days with his wife.

She enjoyed the long mornings with her husband.

He enjoyed practising magic with (sometimes on) his son.

She enjoyed pretending not to notice, or outdoing him on a particularly pretty spell.

He was scared, but he loved her and Harry.

She was terrified, but he and Harry mattered more.

He decided to celebrate 1 year old in style.

She baked a truly magnificent cake.

He decorated the house.

She decorated her son.

He smiled as a small fawn blew out his candles.

She laughed as her husband transformed to match his son.

He loved her more than ever.

She loved him more than she could say.

He carved pumpkins.

She hung fairy lights.

He made puffs of smoke come out the end of his wand.

She heard the door open.

He threw his child in to her arms.

She ran up the stairs.

He looked for his discarded wand.

She barricaded the door.

He dropped like a marionette who’s string were cut.

She refused to step aside.

He was dead.

She fell just like her husband.

They loved Harry.

They died for their son.

but he lived.

i let you go, annie

reason #375 I’ll never be over 4x13:

The way Clarke says “‘Only choice’….also an oxymoron, by the way.” It’s so unnecessary and so blatantly flirty like….she’s flirting with him. She’s wasting precious seconds of the 90 minutes before the world ends to smile and talk and joke with Bellamy Blake, because she’s scared she’ll never get the chance to again. It’s the lightest we’ve seen Clarke in at least a season. It’s almost like when facing the prospect of her imminent death she finally just lets herself just bask in Bellamy’s friendship, in having him there and smiling and with her. Still not over it

Draco Malfoy wasn’t a crier. He was stone faced and he was smug looking. He was smiling a lot more lately. Smiling at the small moments in his friends lives, such as when Blaise finally asked Ginny to marry him on the quidditch field in front of millions of fans. The look on his face when she said yes, that made Draco Malfoy smile.

When his mother accepted his relationship with Hermione Granger, that made Draco Malfoy smile. His love having tea with his mother every Tuesday at 2:00 pm talking about books and his mother’s garden made his lip quirk ever so slightly.

When Pansy announced that she was pregnant with a baby girl, and Hermione and Ginny squealed in delight as Pansy gushed over the possible names in the kitchen of his new acquired home that he and Hermione decorated. Draco began to exit the room when Pansy began to tease him about having one of his own sometime soon after the wedding of course. He walked out of the room but Hermione saw the small smile that formed on his face as he went to talk to Harry about his thoughts on the baby.

When Theo finally introduced Luna as his girlfriend to them all, Merlin it took him forever to gain the courage. They made a good looking couple. How they sat on the sofa with their hands intertwined like a couple of kids as he made her blush with his whispers. That made Draco Malfoy smile

The day of Ginny and Blaise’s wedding, even though Hermione looked the most stunning out of them all, was beautiful  even for his standards. Her hair flowing down her back while in that blue gown that he loved the most. The way she smiled when they danced and told him that this reminded him of their wedding a year ago. The thought of her in her wedding dress once again made him smile.

A couple days later, Hermione told him that she was expecting, a boy, gods he was having a boy. A smile that could be seen for miles it was so big, she looked at him and cried the happiest tears. Finally they were having a child. He hugged her and told her that he loved her with everything. She told their friends and they were delighted. If they were lucky Harry and Pansy’s baby girl would be in the same year as him. They decided to name her Lillian, that made everyone smile.

Coffee made Draco Malfoy smile as he woke up in the mornings. Theo and Luna were already talking to the gorgeous brunette that was carrying his child. They were going to travel for a couple months and Hermione was trilled for them. Luna promised to owl pictures and things for Hermione to read. Hermione smiled. Her stomach growing bigger everyday.

When Hermione’s water broke Draco panicked. Not knowing what to do she yelled at him to get her to St. Mungos. She sent a patronus to Ginny, telling her to let everyone know. Sitting in the waiting room, Draco Malfoy was nervous. A healer called him in to hold Hermione’s hand during the labor. She was crying when he came in but I don’t think it was out of the pain the little boy was causing her. She was happy.

When Draco heard the cries of his newborn he smiled. He look at Hermione and smiled. The doctors went and cleaned him off as he held Hermione’s hand and smiled. She looked at him with adoration and uttered the words I love you and he smiled. Hermione was holding the baby when she looked at him, I think I have a name for him, Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, doesn’t it sound lovely is what she said. Draco looked at her and nodded, it was perfect.

Hermione handed him Scorpius and Draco stood there in awe. He was beautiful. Surrounded by his friends he just looked at the baby and his eyes began to water and the smile on his face couldn’t be missed. Draco was a father and the love of his life had given him a perfect child. For the first time in years Draco Malfoy cried.

I have lived forever in a smile. — e.e.cummings

neil’s friendships with the other foxes aren’t talked about enough…honestly. like, andrew is neil’s everything and nothing can ever change that, but how neil’s trust expands to the rest of them is so precious.

dan adores neil. she wishes he’d listen more in practice and on the court, but she wouldn’t change him for anything. not a trophy, not hundred of trophies, and she’d never go back to a time when life was simpler, when the foxhole court wasn’t a burrow for a skittish fox to hide in, when neil was all bad news and a grenade waiting to go off. when they were all close to being collateral damage in the explosion that followed neil’s truths. she loves him, truly, without failure. she loves his smile and the way he plays, like he wants to win it all for them. she loves how happy he is, despite his monster being a constant shadow at his side, she loves that neil has found someone to take comfort inc someone to make him stronger, and she’s proud of him for that

allison likes to sit beside neil and play with his hair. the first time he let her do it, her chest nearly exploded with the amount of adoration and affection that was swirling there, too powerful to be contained. she knows what trusting looks like, because it’s the the same way renee is with her, and she feels so privileged that neil trusts her too. now they sit and watch shitty movies together when they’re tired and even when her fingers cramp up, allison can’t bear to remove them from twirling lightly at his curls

matt and neil, bros. matt has loved neil since the moment he first laid his eyes on him, and he’s never stopped since. sure, neil can be an asshole and he sometimes avoids talking about how he really feels still, but matt loves him. and when he can peel neil away from andrew long enough, they talk about deep stuff, with neil and matt both opening up to each other. they play mario cart, because neil has never played and matt feels like he has a little brother. he feels so protective towards neil, like he wants to shelter him from the world, but he knows neil has to explore it all for himself, and he’ll always be there to offer a hand if neil stumbles

renee and neil do spend time alone, but mostly she tags along with both andrew and neil. and renee is very observant, she notices the way that neil — this broken boy who came to them every inch a mystery, every scar a story to be told, one foot out the door and his lips sewn shut — flourishes around andrew. he blooms like a flower, mid-spring, bright and breathtaking and she remembers thinking that neil wouldn’t be with them for long, but here he is, living and loving, all thanks to andrew and the rest of the foxes. she’s proud of herself, for that one

kevin may push neil hard sometimes, but he knows neil’s limits better than neil himself does. there are days where he knows neil can be pushed further, can be yelled at for longer, can be threatened with the weight of his deal with the moriyamas, you’ll never make court if you don’t get better. and there are days when he knows neil can’t take it, where he knows that any mention of his unknown future will snap neil in half, so he doesn’t push. he makes neil do the laps, the drills, the target practice and then he calls it off. days like these, neil gets rowdy, complains because he wants to blow off some steam, but kevin tunes him out and throws him a bottle of water, sitting on the court floor and waiting for neil to join him. when he does, they sit in silence. sometimes they talk, but mostly kevin waits for their breathing to slow before he gathers their things and drags neil back to andrew for the night

neil is able to forgive nicky for that first night at edens. nicky will always feel guilty, will always want to make it up to neil, but he’s smart enough to know that it’s alright, nicky. i forgive you is enough to say it’s over, don’t bring it up again and so he never does. he and neil form a nice, distant friendship. nicky doesn’t touch neil and neil doesn’t touch nicky in return, but there are days where neil will sit with him in the columbia house and they’ll laugh and joke and nicky will swear he didn’t know neil would have such an impact on his life, he’ll never remember what life was like before him, and he doesn’t want to. life without neil, even for a short time, felt cold and tasteless and the look on andrew’s face when baltimore happened told him he felt it too. he never wants to experience that again

neil and aaron tolerate each other, at best. and that’s all there is to say on that. they poke at each other and make sly remarks and sometimes they fight, and that’s the extent of their interactions

the beauty of it all is that people say you can’t choose your family but neil knows, you definitely can
