long ago, back when i thought i had self restraint and impulse control, i stumbled upon an old ask from gav-bot innocently asking id i’d consider a gem-stuck au…
jk, this was just a very fun way to exercise drawing different body-shapes and silhouettes. ask about fusions if you’d like, i’ve already got a bunch sketched out! (& info for everyone down below since i had so much time to world build while working on everyone and i’d like to get it out somewhere :3c)
I’ve noticed, in people and myself, this odd habit of saying ‘I love you’ to inanimate objects, fictional characters, cute and funny things, or people when they do something that person finds appealing. It’s strange, and I can see aliens needing to hide their emotional responses more than we do, or that’s just their culture, or professing ones love is saved expressly for family and romantic partners in a private setting.
So a human saying ‘I love you’ out of the blue would be very startling.
Imagine Alien Sari’ik trying to carry an armful of observer orbs, since they need them on the next planet they’re checking out, and one of them falls out of their arms, but when they go to pick it up, another falls out, and the cycle keeps going until one of their three residential humans, Roxanne, is on the floor in tears from laughter and Sari’ik is very flustered already. So when they manage to figure out how to hold everything, and Roxanne stands and says with all the casualty of speaking about weather ‘I love you’, Sari’ik drops everything their holding and have to cover their shocked, very embarrassed face, and the surrounding aliens just look affronted and look like they want to start running in the face of someone else’s ‘romantic moment’.
“H-Human Roxanne! While I am flattered, this is not the time or place to express your feelings towards me!”
And it takes Roxanne a moment to process what Sari’ik is talking about, but when she gets it she starts laughing again. “Not like that, man. I was just saying, you’re cool and funny and it’s amazing to see you flustered so I love ya.”
And Sari’ik still doesn’t get what Roxanne is getting at, so Roxanne just goes ‘check it’ and shouts across the ship, “ALEX I LOVE YOU BRO”
And from a great distance they just hear “I LOVE YOU TOO ROX”
And it’s just another human thing the aliens will have to get used to, cause they most certainly don’t understand the blatant disrespect for common decency and privacy. They’re even more confused when Roxanne starts professing her love to the on-board AI system that can’t feel things and swears it’s platonic
Edd starts receiving letters and/or sticky notes from a secret admirer who calls themselves “TJ-Rox”. They’re love letters, attempts at poems, and just general sweet stuff. Whoever’s sending them is madly in love with Edd, as it seems. :P
Edd is very taken by these letters, but wants to know who’s sending them. He tries his hardest to solve the mystery, but always comes up short. Who could possibly be behind it? It has to be one of the cul-de-sac kids, but they all deny it or the clues don’t match up!
In the end, Eddy walks Edd home, the two of them talk about the situation. Edd laments that he still has no idea who “TJ-Rox” is. Eddy shrugs, figuring whoever the guy is, he’ll show his face eventually. Edd says he’d love to meet him in person and get to know him… And Eddy says, “Heh, maybe you don’t have to.”
When Edd goes inside his home, Eddy walks away and heads home. The minute he’s in his room, he takes out a notebook and has a number of unsent “TJ-Rox” letters for Edd.
Eddy sighs, and says, “Someday, Double D.”
(Note! The TJ-Rox is actually “Tom Jones Rocks” XD)
