love fundraiser

anonymous asked:

My company just LOVES to do fundraising events. I swear, that they get fucking hard-on for them. Like, I'm glad my company is trying to make a difference, but we don't need to have 3 fundraisers going on at once. We are literally losing customers over the fact that we constantly ask for donations and we get in trouble for - not asking - for chasing the customers away - for focusing too heavily on only one of the fundraisers. I almost want to pose as a customer and bitch to corporate about this.

I think it says a lot about our society that charity chases people away. Now I’m even more depressed since the old man with the books and need to mix myself another sour smirnoff with lemonade. -Abby

somebody responded to us posting that emma watson is a clueless activist with this

and i’m just like… yeah because emma watson was born to rich parents and got sent to a freaking private boarding school in oxford and getting tutored in drama from a very young age, and landed a role in a very visible movie franchise .

like… both people who work on this blog are lower middle class at absolute best. if i had a rich mummy and daddy that sent me to rich people school and paid for a better education then maybe i would be a some kind of ambassador that makes speeches that don’t say anything as well, but instead i’m just a local activist who tries to support people in the best way she can with the resources she has.

for what it’s worth i’m from roughly the same geographic area as emma and i’m just like… maybe if i was a rich pretty cis girl i could work for the UN in promoting equality in an ineffective way too, but instead i’m working class, transgender and finding it hard to even get a job as a shitty position in the same city she went to school, all because we both played the cards we got dealt and she happened to have all aces.

jesus. think before you speak, y’know?

Hey give us money plz

Okay SKU fans, here’s the deal–

Gio and I desperately want to spend $300 - $400 on the Japanese blu-ray release. Why?

BECAUSE WE WILL THEN BE ABLE TO RIP THE MUSICAL.

THERE’S SOME SORT OF HOUR LONG THING WITH THE MUSICAL AND MAYBE THE SECOND AND THIRD? WE DON’T KNOW???

Unfortunately, because this is the year of sweet merch, we already flattened our wallets getting other stuff, so we don’t have the cash to do this. So I’m proposing a deal here– help chip in, and we will make sure that the musical and anything else exclusive to the Japanese release that’s never going to show up on this side of the ocean gets mysteriously scanned, ripped, etc ad nauseam and just happens to get passed around the net here to literally anyone who wants it. As of right now, that means the musical plus that sweet copy of the back view of Utena and Anthy’s faceless red and black pics (you know, the one where they are holding hands?? <3 ). There are also images of the series characters drawn by Saito in the box art, and apparently some new exclusive art; there’s a gigantic book coming with it. There might be more. We don’t know. We won’t know until we get our damn hands on it, is the problem!

So what we are proposing is this– donate cash to us at emptymovement@gmail.com, and we will buy the thing. You know we aren’t going anywhere, plenty of you know us in person and even have our phone numbers and address, you know you can trust us, and… well

hell, you’ve seen what we’ve done with all the art books we got, right?

We ripped them up for you, so you could have good copies to look at and edit and do whatever you want with.

Now, we realize that this is enough incentive for some of you, and that’s really freakin awesome. You know who you are, and I love you for it. But honestly… we have some unwrecked stuff just lying around here too. We don’t look at this stuff or use it at all, it just sits in our cupboard. So we figure, hell, why not give some stuff away too?

So basically, we will send one of these pieces to the first person who requests it (email: yasha@ohtori.nu) and donates (paypal at emptymovement@gmail.com) at or above the specified price (which is roughly average market price plus about tenbux for shipping, keeping in mind we’re in Canada).

Oh yeah and all of this stuff is in pretty good condition but not much of it is in perfect condition– we’ll be happy to provide pics to anyone interested, I just want to get this up where people will see it.

Miki UFO Catcher doll - $60

RGU Software Sculptors release t-shirt - we don’t know what size it is, it’s never been opened. We can open it if there’s demand but the price won’t change. It’s got the Touga/Little Utena/Saionji art on it - $60

Shitajiki/Pencil Board with movie promo art - $30 - Dibs has been called and money has been sent, I will take this off the list as soon as I have all the info I need.

This is Animation Artbook - $50 - Someone’s called dibs, but nothing is final yet.

Japanese Manga (Series) - $45 - Someone’s called dibs on this, but nothing is final yet.

Japanese Movie Manga - $15

SPG chibi keychain - $12 - Dibs has been called and money has been sent, this will be taken off the list as soon as we’ve got all the info we need

Mikage chibi Keychain - $12

Chu-Chu chibi keychain - $12

File folder from the 15th (??) anniversary art exhibition, drawn by Akemi Hayashi - $25 -  Dibs has been called and money has been sent, I will take this off the list as soon as I have all the info I need.

Doujinshi (all of these are already scanned and in the gallery, these are the duplicates we had and they are in good condition):

Rose Garden - $25

Kakumei Kettou - $35

Pluie de meteores - $10

That one with snotty-nosed weirdface Chu-Chu on the back - $10

Utena no Drug - $10

And now, last but not least,

if anyone gives us $50 or more and doesn’t want any of the other things, we will totally decant 2ml of either the Anthy or the Utena perfume and send it to you

This is not a “buying” thing. This is a “thank you” thing. We don’t want to give away too much of the perfume, because we did buy it for ourselves, but it’s also not fair that most people aren’t going to be able to get their hands on it.  So it’s going to be limited quantity, probably a max of 10ml per bottle. It’s not a heck of a lot of perfume, but 2ml is a usable amount, and we figure it’s probably the nicest way we have of saying thank you for a bigger donation. We’re going to find a way to make the teeny little bottles pretty, too.

(As for the perfume itself, if anyone wants to know what happened/is happening there I can post about it later. We might not be able to get the Akio perfume at all…)

So yeah, there you have it. And, should we happen to go over our goal amount, the money (paypal at emptymovement@gmail.com) would be used for the domain name plus the site hosting, and to finance even more SKU stuff to buy so we can put it online. We’ve spent hundreds this year already on such content, because really now

really

do you really think we’re ever going to stop?

Spoilers:

NO

okay thanks a bunch for reading, you guys. If you want to send us cash for the japanese bluray release, you can paypal us at emptymovement@gmail.com. Please make sure to email me at yasha@ohtori.nu if you want us to send you one of the things (and mention it in the Paypal comments). I will post pics for anything people wish to see; for the most part, it is your bog-standard SKU merch in relatively good condition, with maybe a bent corner or something.

Edited to add:  hey guys I didn’t stress this enough but seriously any little bit helps, we know that a lot of people are financially rough, hell we wouldn’t be doing this if we were 100% great that way either, so if you can only pitch in five bucks please remember that makes a big difference too <3

“What are those?” Eleven asked, looking at the bundle of dark red flowers in Jonathan’s hands.

“These?” he held them out to let her look closer, “They’re roses. A special kind of flower for Valentine’s Day.”

“Why are they special?” Eleven tentatively brushed a fingertip against the soft petals of one of the roses.

“Because you get them for a girl you really like, the way I really like Nancy.”

“Love.” It was a statement, not a question. Eleven may not have been the best at speaking, but she was certainly good at feeling. Jonathan’s cheeks turned almost as red as the roses in his hand.

“Yeah,” he ran his fingers through his messy hair, “I guess so.”

“Pretty,” Eleven smiled. Jonathan reached into the bouquet and plucked one out, handing it to her.

“Careful,” he said, “Sometimes the stems have thorns.”

“But they’re not for me,” Eleven hesitated, her hand hovering over the stem.

“This one can be,” Jonathan assured her, “Like you said, they’re for girls you love. And I love you like you’re my little sister.”

6. That lipstick’s not gonna stay put for long.

Carnivals.

They’re lovely to visit with your friends but honestly they were only so fun, especially if you lived in a small town such as Y/N did. It was more fun finding ways to dodge the billions of over hyped up, sugar crazed kids that ran past you in a hurry to make the next ride line.

Still though, lovely to visit with your friends and to have cheap fun.

“Are you sure it looks okay? Did it smudge?”

“Nope,” Y/N’s friend reassured her. “Your lipstick looks great. No smudging that I can see. Teeth check?”

Y/N smiled, following her friend’s gaze scan over her teeth and sighing contently when she gave her the thumbs up — no lavender colored lipstick stained anywhere it shoun’t be.

Y/N and her group of friends walked around the lot, holding cups of various sodas and sipping them lightly in the summer heat. They rode small rides, their favorite being the baby roller coaster they all dramatically screamed on gaining the odd looks of other families and children.

Various booths were set up along the fairgrounds, from ring toss games to basketball toss games. Y/N and her friends took turns playing the booths that caught their attention, a few of her friends going off to the Henna tent across the way. One booth though caught Y/N’s attention; and not in a good way.

The Kissing Booth stood proudly, a small line of pretty girls lined up to kiss the boy, a couple of daring guys stood waiting to kiss the girl on the other side. Only, the boy on the inside of the tent was Y/N’s ex boyfriend, Harry.

He looked better than ever, a bandana wrapped around his curly hair and a tan lightly kissed on his skin, giving him the resemblance of some
sort of Summer God. Harry gave flirty smiles and winks to each girl that stepped up, accepting the one Euro cost and leaning over the counter to peck them shortly on the mouth.

“Oh my God,” Another one of Y/N’s friends gasped. “I wanna go kiss that girl! Y/N, will you stand in line with me?”

Y/N stumbled, scrunching her eyebrows up in distaste as she motioned her head towards where her ex stood.

“Oh just ignore him.” She rolled her eyes, looping her arm through Y/N’s and pulling her towards the line.

A few guys stood before them and Y/N took this as her chance to pull her lipstick out, reapplying it through the camera app on her phone. She pursed her lips, mixing it evenly before taking her fingers and wiping off the excess.

“That lipstick’s not gonna stay put for long.”

Y/N looked up, meeting the eyes and coy smirk of Harry. He leaned on the counter, propping his head up by his hand and thumping his fingers boredly over his cheekbone.

“I’m not in line Harry.”

“And why not?”

Y/N snorted, packing her lipstick tube back in her purse. “Why pay money to kiss my ex when I can just… not.”

“Real clever.” Harry laughed, leaning out further to keep her attention. “Come over here and give me a kiss.”

Y/N paused, tapping her finger over jaw in pretend thought. “I’m good.”

“Don’t be like that, love. It’s for the fundraiser, yeah? All donations go to the hospital and you get a kiss in the process. Sounds like a win-win to me.”

After a war of internal battle, Y/N groaned, slipping a Euro out and smacking the bill on the counter. “One kiss. And it’s only because I care about the charity.”

“Definitely just for the charity.” Harry mused, planting his thumb and forefinger on either side of her jaw before planting a warm, opened mouth kiss to her lavender colored lips.

As much as she hated to admit it, she melted into the kiss. He kissed her warmly, tilting his head to the side and encouraging her own mouth to open with his tongue. Y/N slowly complied, forgetting all her bitterness towards who she was kissing and rather, simply enjoying kissing a familiar mouth.

After a solid 10 seconds, Harry pulled back with a sticky pop of their lips and laughing lightly at the her smudged lipstick, knowing he was sporting some of it on his own mouth.

“Come back here after I close the booth up in about an hour. I’ll give you all the kisses you want, no charge.”

@hansbekhart and I would like to know if there’s any creators for Fandom Loves Puerto Rico who wouldn’t mind being featured on the Twitter and Facebook we set up for the campaign. We had a TON of authors and artists from NYCC donate books and prints to the auction, and we want to make sure we’re taking about our fanwork creators, too. :)

Shoot me a message or ask if you’re a creator for the auction and you’d be cool with us mentioning your work!
