“Sometimes I get very tired of Shannon. Sometimes i think I’ll grab something heavy and knock him so hard that his head will be ringing as the plates on the drums set. Sometimes he’s too caring. He was so caring. He was so caring that I sometimes think that I’m dying or physically limited. But when I get tired, I fall on the couch and realize that Shannon is far, he toured with Antoine or somewhere else out there, I feel bad, i miss his absolute care. I want to be a younger brother, who he takes care of, I do not care that i’m forty. I like to be his younger brother, his love is very necessary to me.” - Jared Leto.
There had been some requests for a review on the Thirty Seconds to Mars + Muse + Pvris first concert, and since I went to it I am more than happy to oblige.
May 20th, 2017.
Bands appearance in order:
1. PVRIS (approximately a 30-45 minute set, they came on stage at 7pm on the dot)
2. Thirty Seconds to Mars(approximately an hour set they came on around 8 pm and were done by 9 pm)
3. Muse(approximately a two hour set, they came on at about 9:15 pm and were done by 10:45 pm as 11 pm was “curfew”)
SETLIST FOR 30STM ONLY:
Up In the Air
This is War
Kings and Queens
The Kill (ACOUSTIC!)
Attack (Just the chorus, also acoustic!)
City of Angels
Do or Die (This is where people go on stage)
Closer to the Edge (Last song, this is where people left the stage).
I honestly have nothing but wonderful things to say about my entire experience tonight. Even some nice ladies in front of me said they had been to countless rock and heavy metal concerts but nothing could ever top 30STM for them. AND I AGREE.
This was the stage set up. Huge triad in the back and Jared looking like a Gucci Priest, the usual get up! He had so much energy and he sang very chord with all the passion and willpower in his being. He sounds absolutely amazing live, my words don’t do enough justice for his talent.
He started off with the first four songs in full blast, he played guitar for them and everyone was going absolutely nuts. It wasn’t until 30STM appeared that the crowds stood up to sing and dance and interact with the performers.
During the middle of it before he went to sing The Kill he got off stage and moved to see the people in the back and he sang for them, which was absolutely incredible and sweet. There was no crowd surfing but he pointed out a small child from the audience and asked his name and where he was from and if there were any other kids in the audience, how he did in the last tour. He was very happy and glad to be there, always pumping up the crowd, calling us crazy and loud and fun and all that good stuff. He pointed out that they hadn’t taken the stage in almost two years and how nice it was to be back to perform for his fans.
Lots of dry ice all over the place, but no confetti or balloons.
As to how I got on stage, one of the girls working for them just picked me from where I was sitting before the entire concert started and told me that she would give me a flag to hold for their performance and that during Do or Die and Closer to The Edge I’d be able to go on stage and jump around with him. When City of Angels came on, Shayla gave me a paper to sign (honestly I did’t even read it, I was too in shock, but it must have been a compliance form/contract promising good behavior while I was around Jared and the guys). Then I went back stage and waited for Do or Die and then went up with them until the very end.
Tomo and Shannon were also very powerful in their performances, no faults here in case you guys were wondering.
It had been two years since they performed all together and really they were nothing short of perfect. NO mistakes. They must have been nervous at first but it happens, they’re human.
And I know you guys expected new songs but… honestly I had the time of my life with what they played and everyone else was just as excited about it.
And yes… I know… he was in Gucci and he was sweating in it, but what of it? I think even Muse came out wearing Gucci?? So don’t think too hard about what he was wearing, because it doesn’t matter, or what he played, if you’re really there for them its worth every dollar, every minute, and every scream that you will let out if you go.
Note: Yes, there was supposed to be a phone call and it was supposed to be at the end of City of Angels but I was backstage already when that happened, so i did not get to see for sure! Sorry!

“Shannon and Tomo have this weird relationship, they’re always giggling about something. When I walk into the room it goes silent and they’re both smiling at each other. I don’t even want to know what goes on half the time.” - Jared Leto about Shomo.
