To celebrate we’ll be
sharing, throughout the day, a number of artworks by women in the Ashmolean’s
Lotus, 1980 By Fang Zhaoling (1914–2006)
Fang Zhaoling was a leading figure among women artists
in 20th-century China. Born in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, she travelled and lived
in many different places, including Oxford, and exhibited her paintings widely
in the United States, Europe and East Asia. She continued to work as a
well-established artist into her eighties.
