Quotes from Harry Styles’ Interview

Writing for his album

“I started the album end of Feb last year for about three weeks and then had to stop for about 5 months when I went to do a movie. I came back to it in July and finished writing it in December. For a while before all I thought about it was stressing about what it was going to be. It gave me a chance to completely step away from it for a bit and have a real break. By the end of the movie, because we were swimming so much I just wanted to write songs…I think we wrote about 70 songs - we did 50 songs and ideas in Jamaica and that’s including like little ideas. Well full songs, I say there are 30 songs probably. One of the songs on the album, I wrote a few years ago.”

On his album

“I was with the guys who I was writing it with and we just wanted to make what we wanted to listen to and that has been the most fun part for me about making the whole album. In the least weird way possible, it’s my favourite album to listen to at the moment… I hope we did a good job but I really like the album so I hope people like it. I think if you put out something that you don’t stand behind and really love, then if it doesn’t go well then you could regret not doing what you wanted to do. Whereas if nothing happens with it, I love it you know so I think that’s what you should do. I think that’s been my favourite part to the overall thing is listening to the album and making all the changes – it has been fun to watch over it all.”

Writing in Jamaica

“I just wanted to not be somewhere that I’d get distracted. It was 360 of writing, you’d go home for dinner, write at the house then go back to the studio. I liked being away from everything and doing it like that.”

About his debut single

“It’s a bit weird, I feel like I’ve been hibernating for so long now and you hear it in the safety of the studio and now it’s time to give birth … it’s the song (debut single) I’m most proud of writing.”

About making it on his own

“I’ve been hibernating trying to get it all ready, that’s been fun, but I like this bit as well. I think it’s gonna be fun, it’s gonna be good. It’s not like I’m travelling on my own now, I have a band and everything and they’re amazing.”

Ed Sheeran

“I played him (Sheeran) a few songs after the album was finished. He didn’t say that he didn’t like any, but he did like one song that isn’t on the album. So I did have a bit of a minute of like hmmm no but…”

On Adele

“I’ve spoken to her a little bit, she knows one of the guys that I wrote it with (his music) a lot. But I don’t think so much advice, I just like how she does stuff. I think she leads by example, she’s the biggest, she’s amazing, she’s the best so she should be the biggest. The thing with her is she’s a different thing, she’s just good at it, I like how she does everything, it looks very nice. For my 21st she gave me one of her albums 21 and said, ‘I did some pretty cool stuff when I was 21, good luck’ and I was like, 'geez’.”

On Dating

“I haven’t dated in a long time really because I went away to do the movie then did the album so I haven’t in a while. I have a couple of candles left still though.

Whether dating when famous is hard

“I don’t know, maybe. I feel like with all of the stuff how people date now, with all online stuff, I feel like you can do that (Google) with anyone really if you’re looking at someone’s profile before seeing them. It’s kinda the same… No, I used to (research dates), then I said I’m not going to do that anymore, it’s impossible to go in without a perception of someone and you’ve never met them and I started feeling like that was wrong and weird. I think I snore, and also I quite like routine, so I don’t know if I’m incredibly spontaneous.”

Cutting his hair for Dunkirk

“I felt very naked for a while. I was like yeah, I’ve gotta shave my hair off. It wasn’t a hard decision, it got made into a wig.”

Why he rarely tweets

“I don’t like saying something for the sake of it.”

Life at home and work

“The first time I went home not wearing trainers, I was in a pair of boots. Someone said, ‘What the bloody hell are they?’ I like to separate working and being at home with family.”

Staying grounded

“It’s easier in the way that I like to separate stuff from working and being at home with family and stuff. When you separate it it’s easier to see it for what it is. When you let it become everything and that’s your whole life, then it’s easy to get a bit lost in it. I’m lucky, I have amazing friends and my family’s amazing so I think they make it easier to keep the separation between the two which makes it easier for me.”

Being nervous about playing his music to others

“I think it’s nerve-racking in that I’ve only played it to like 10 people in a room. I try and not be there if I’m playing it…”

His mother and step-father’s reactions to the album

“I played the album to them the first time and there’s one song that’s got a vocal effect on it, the whole album finished then my stepdad said: ‘I’ve one question, where did you get the duck from, how did you get a duck in the studio?’ I was like: ‘That was me, thanks’. My Mum liked it which was handy. She cried a couple of times which was good, I think that was good.”

Musical Influences

“I think it’s hard to not have influencers from what you grew up listening on. I think everyone reacts differently to different types of music. I had a good range between my mum and dad… my dad listened to Fleetwood, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Queen. My mum was like Norah Jones and Savage Garden. There are a lot of melodies there.”

Being starstruck by other celebrities

“I remember the first time we went to an awards show in the US, we met Will Smith. It was a brief meeting – he was nice and very tall.”

Addressing the rumour about getting a sheep placenta facial

“No I’ve never had a sheep placenta facial.”

Rumours about Hobama

“I’m not allowed to talk about that.”

Rumour on taking his dates on helicopter rides

“No I’ve never done that,” Harry says, with Grimmy responding: “Not even with Barack?”

“No,“ Harry says. “It was his helicopter, haha.”

Talking about Chris Martin

“He’s lovely isn’t he? He is good at telling you to take care of yourself. I think he makes sure you are alright and is very zen. I think he is a pretty wonderful man.”

On Ronnie Wood

“Big fan, I love Ronnie Wood – I think I met him at a dinner party a few years ago and went to a couple of Stones shows…I think he is the nicest.”

Interviewing Paul McCartney for his Another Man issue

“It was amazing – his voice sounds like a song.”

Loving scented candles

“I mean I think everyone loves scented candles. But I usually take one from home if I’m travelling.”

About sprouts being the new kale

“I went two days ago. I got some spinach, eggs, OJ, milk, turkey and some brussels sprouts. Hmm what else did I buy…oh some Crème Eggs. I like putting sprouts in a curry and I like sauteing them. I think they are going to be the new kale. I met [someone] and I asked her what she did and she said ‘I’m the PR lady for Kale’ and I was like ‘good job then.”

Talking about his four nipples

“Still got them, managed to keep them. Maybe I just hide them in limited edition albums, like golden tickets. I’ll hold onto them.”

Best trait

“Best trait I don’t know, it’s weird to pick your best, shall we go with the nipples thing.”

On where not to ask him for a selfie

“I think in toilets is the weirdest one. It’s happened a couple of times… When someone tries to shake your hand right after having a wee, ‘I might wash my hands first’.”

About Liam’s son and being a potential godfather

“I spoke to Liam and he’s loving it. He said it’s going really well and everyone’s great. So I’m very happy for him. I think it’s a roll of the dice, there are a lot of people Liam has in mind. I’m not going to add any extra pressure. If it came my way I would be honoured.”

somebody responded to us posting that emma watson is a clueless activist with this

and i’m just like… yeah because emma watson was born to rich parents and got sent to a freaking private boarding school in oxford and getting tutored in drama from a very young age, and landed a role in a very visible movie franchise .

like… both people who work on this blog are lower middle class at absolute best. if i had a rich mummy and daddy that sent me to rich people school and paid for a better education then maybe i would be a some kind of ambassador that makes speeches that don’t say anything as well, but instead i’m just a local activist who tries to support people in the best way she can with the resources she has.

for what it’s worth i’m from roughly the same geographic area as emma and i’m just like… maybe if i was a rich pretty cis girl i could work for the UN in promoting equality in an ineffective way too, but instead i’m working class, transgender and finding it hard to even get a job as a shitty position in the same city she went to school, all because we both played the cards we got dealt and she happened to have all aces.

jesus. think before you speak, y’know?

Further explanation for St Pat’s…because someone asked.

If you celebrate today by wearing green or havin’ a pint or such, that’s okay. What’s important is that you know from whence the traditions come, you have a healthy respect for Irish heritage, and your celebratory activities don’t play on cruel stereotypes.

Heck, last year, I got together with a bunch of Irish-descended friends and had a heritage blast. We made Irish foods like corned beef & cabbage, colcannon, shortbread, and suchlike, and then we all sat down and watched Boondock Saints. Most of us wore green, and we got rip-roaring drunk over the course of the evening. (Then again, that’s most of our parties…anyway.)

It’s all about knowing where stuff comes from. Traditions like the wearing of the green are an important part of Irish heritage, and you need see it as such, and not just as popular shtick. Same goes for a lot of other Irish-related stuff today.

It’s about celebrating the culture while not reinforcing negative stereotypes, and it’s not hard.

Just…don’t pretend you’re “Irish for the day” if you’re not already. Don’t pinch people who didn’t wear green. Don’t put on a fake accent or dress like a leprechaun. Don’t make derogatory jokes. Don’t make a mockery of Ireland or it’s people or their culture.

You wouldn’t want someone making fun of your home country. So don’t do it to someone else’s.

And for Irish-Americans (and those who wish they were), today’s a GREAT day to learn about Irish heritage. Ask your family members for stories. Look up surnames online to see where they’re from. Read up on Irish and American-Irish history. Read some Irish folktales. Pop in some tunes by an Irish band.

And let’s all raise a glass to better days. May the roofs over our heads never fall in and may the friends beneath them never fall out. :)

Yall remember *NSYNC?

Remember how they (along with the backstreet boys) were the most popular boybands worldwide during the late 90s and into the millennium?

Remember the member Lance Bass?

Remember how he dated Danielle Fishel and they were “so in love”?

Remember how after they broke up, he exclusively dated women?

Remember all the rumors he had about him not being straight?

Remember when TMZ and Perez Hilton started following him around?

Remember when shortly after all this he came out as gay 4 years after *NSYNC disbanded?

Remember the reasons he gave as to why he didn’t come out a lot sooner than he did?

Do you think people told his speculators back then that they were delusional just like they tell Kaisoo shippers that now?

I bet they did, but in the end:

I rest my case.

Stelliums In Each House

What does a stellium in a particular house in an individual’s natal chart indicate about that person? I hope this quick guide will be helpful in giving the basics! For more info about what a stellium is see my post here.

1st house - A first house stellium will make a person focused on their own self identity and how they project that into the world. They can be gregarious, boisterous and good at getting things done. These people know how to charm others and to convey the image they want into the world. The sign the stellium is in will indicate what image the person wants to show others. For instance, a Pisces stellium in the first house will make a person want to come across as sensitive and charitable, while an Aries stellium in the first house will want to come across as independent and a go-getter. The exception to this rule is a first house stellium in Libra. Since there is an opposition to the seventh house (Libra’s home) you may see the opposite effect here, where the native is obsessively trying to draw attention away from themselves to others. A lot of celebrities have first house stelliums, especially those who are in the public eye frequently.

2nd house - Second house stelliums are always out for security. Security has a slightly different meaning to every individual, so whatever sign the stellium is in will show us how the individual seeks out this security. A Libra stellium in the second house will find security through partnership, whereas a Capricorn stellium will find security through money or career. This will be a major goal in the native’s life. A stellium in this house in Scorpio will make a different result here, however. The opposition to the eighth house, Scorpio’s home, may make someone who seeks security through destruction of the very thing that makes them feel secure. This person may seem to make rash decisions, i.e. quitting stable jobs, ending relationships that seem to be going well, etc. Overall, all people with second house stelliums are focused in the material realm, and many like nice possessions, a well-kept house, and being in touch with their bodies through art, sports or dance.

3rd house - Third house stelliums are all about communication. They have a message and they want to get it out to the world. They tend to be social beings, or fascinated by writing, reading, storytelling, songwriting, etc. How do they go about sharing their message? Look at the sign the stellium is in! Cancer stelliums in the third house come at conversation and writing through using their emotions, and noticing others’ feelings and subtle social cues. Aquarius stelliums will have unique, devil’s advocate style ideas and will enjoy bucking the social norm as they communicate. Again, there is one exception - Sagittarius stellium in the third house will create a weird opposition here where communication might be a little tricky. The expansive energy of Jupiter will make it difficult for the person to teach or share their knowledge; instead they will continually be seeking information, not feeling like they are ready to communicate. The overall presence of a third house stellium is someone who is chatty with varied interests and a restless mind.

4th house - Fourth house stellium people are intensely shaped by their home environment, either in childhood or in adulthood (or both). Their motivation is to find an anchor point - a place to settle. This is one of the more complicated houses to find a stellium, because there are many factors at play here. First, the presence of outer planets can completely change the interpretation. Uranus here can indicate someone who moves around a lot, while Pluto can represent a very unstable home situation. Saturn will show a lot of responsibility in the home, or even someone who is not free to move because of obligations (i.e. having to care for a family member, or supporting an entire group of people). The sign the stellium is in will show the type of home base the individual is seeking out. A Taurus stellium here will show a person who wants a stable home with nice things in it, or possibly in nature. A Virgo stellium will show someone who seeks out perfectionism and organization through their home and family. Anyone with a Capricorn stellium in the 4th house will have an opposition of energy, and will tend to reject the idea of nostalgic, Cancerian values that typically comes with a fourth house stellium. Nostalgia in general, attraction to the past, and emotions are heightened for all fourth house stellium natives.

5th house - Theatrical dramatics are present in those with fifth house stelliums. Creative energy is heightened, and these people often love children and animals. Fifth house stellium’s motivation is to create and express. Whatever sign the stellium is in will show us what they are trying to express and how they go about it. Gemini stellium in the fifth house will show someone who creates through writing or through public speaking/communication. They will be more vocal about their need to create. On the opposing end, someone with a Virgo stellium in the fifth house would express themselves a bit more subtly, and would work very hard on their individual creative contributions. Just because someone has a fifth house stellium does not automatically mean they are an artistic, theater-type person. They may have a flair that shows up in their career, or perhaps they are occupied with their children. It more speaks of the way they do the things they do - with a big, all-their-heart-in-it gesture. An Aquarius stellium in the fifth house will manifest differently, with them wanting to share the stage with friends, family and basically anyone else. These people will often support others’ creativity over their own.

6th house - You often see sixth house stelliums in the charts of service industry types, like doctors, nurses, etc (this is especially true if the moon is part of the stellium). These people could easily be described as workaholics. They are perfectionistic and responsible, and do everything they can to help others around them. They often put their own needs last. So though they are “workaholics”, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are spending all their time on their actual career and ignoring their families too. Those with sixth house stelliums will find a way to juggle everything. Their goal is to serve. If you look at what sign the stellium appears in you will see what their focus is primarily. A Leo stellium in the sixth house would make someone who is perfectionistic in a creative venture, like a writer or musician who will practice their craft till it’s perfect… they may also be focused on helping their children or pets at whatever cost necessary. An Aquarius stellium in the sixth house will manifest as someone who is always there for their friends, or who works tirelessly to help humanity in general. Sixth house stelliums are detail oriented and notice everything. The exception is a Pisces sixth house stellium. These folks, with the 6th-12th house opposition in place, will have a much more relaxed attitude and may be more ‘go with the flow’ than their sixth house stellium peers. They might have their heads in the clouds, or could potentially be obsessed with religion or spirituality.

7th house - Seventh house stellium people are pleasant, stylish and chameleon-esque. They tend to be agreeable, and it is not because they are two-faced, but rather because they can easily see all sides to any situation. They may be artistic or enjoy fashion, design or other Venus-ruled activities. Since Libra rules this house, partnership is important to them. They seek out connection wherever they go, and while it may not always be a romantic partner they are trying to find, they still are looking for a “partner” in anything they do. They will come up with inside jokes with people they meet, will network, and find a uniting factor between themselves and any given person. Someone with a Pisces stellium in the seventh house might be more apt to connect through dreams, wishes, and spirituality so would look for partnership through those avenues. On the other end, a Capricorn stellium in the seventh would try to connect through more serious matters or would network for their career or education. The opposite end of this is an Aries stellium in the seventh house. This oppositional energy will create someone who rejects the idea of partnership and who will sometimes overcompensate by asserting their individuality at any cost.

8th house - Eighth house stelliums are similar to fourth house stelliums in that they have a lot of factors to consider. Sometimes those with eighth house stelliums will have a lot of experience with intense change. Things might have been uprooted for them a lot, or they might have had a hard childhood or difficulty with relationships. They may experience a lot of death or tragedy around them, or just a lot of change and intense situations. The presence of Pluto, Uranus, Saturn or Neptune in this stellium could make this even more apparent. These people tend to be investigative, curious and sometimes very suspicious of the world around them. They are often intelligent and unusual, and sometimes intense. They may have interest in the occult or stranger sides of spirituality. They often have a powerful magnetism that draws people to them. You could not define someone with an eighth house stellium as mundane or dull. Look at the sign in the house to see what is drawn in to them. A Gemini stellium in the eighth house will manifest as a lightener for the Scorpio energy of the eighth house, and will allow the native to communicate their ideas. They will find themselves confronted with a lot of opportunities to talk about the things they experience. A Sagittarius stellium in the eighth will create a lot of occultism intrigue, and opportunity for travel. Those with a Taurus stellium will find an opposite reaction, in that they will hide and reject the “darker” parts of themselves and pretend they are simply not there, or become fearful of them.

9th house - A ninth house stellium often manifests as an innate curiosity about everything under the sun. The native here will enjoy learning, philosophy and travel as a means to discover new things. Novelty will be the main motivator, and loss of freedom the biggest discomfort. Often these individuals do better in a less rigid schooling environment, and may do a lot of studying on their own. They are usually optimistic, gregarious and a bit wacky or unusual. The idea of the unknown is overly appealing to them, so much so that a regular routine is unthinkable and binding in their eyes. Where do they look most for their freedom? Check the sign. A stellium in Libra will indicate a desire for freedom in romantic partnership. A stellium in Cancer will indicate a desire for freedom in living situations - they may bounce around a lot, or else they may fixate on the “perfect” home, one they don’t have yet. The opposite will be apparent in Gemini stelliums in the ninth house. These individuals will be more focused on teaching others and may ignore their own personal quest for freedom by giving it to everyone else.

10th house - Having a stellium in the tenth house will give you a solid foundation on which to stand. People with this particular stellium tend to enjoy being their own boss, or being independent from authority figures in general. They may have issues with a parental figure growing up. This house’s placement makes the native ambitious and no-nonsense. They get things done, and know the best path to take to get the most work done. This is the other “workaholic” house, after sixth house stelliums. Often you will see the person’s career show up in the sign their stellium is in. An Aries stellium, for instance, might be driven to be even more independent, and would perhaps excel in an arena that would bring the native fame. A Libra stellium would indicate success through partnership. You will see a difference when there is a Cancer stellium in the tenth house. This will create that oppositional energy I’ve mentioned above, and will result in someone whose ambitions are focused on their family. They may find it harder to excel in business or on a societal level. Overall, those with tenth house stelliums often do well financially and can manifest success in career with little effort (though they often work very hard).

11th house - A stellium in the eleventh house will equal out to be someone who is “everyone’s best friend”. These folks are the most social in the zodiac, and are always on the go. They try to please all their friends, and their friends become their family. They think about things in a big picture way, and enjoy projects that allow them and their friends to work together to make changes in the world. They could be involved in protests, or working to make changes in the community. Despite their love of socializing and meeting new people, they do have a hard time with consistent small talk. They like big ticket issues and enjoy thinking about things on a grand, Uranian scale. Someone with a Taurus stellium in the eleventh house would be all about living with friends, or maybe even starting a community living situation. They may get involved with art. A Pisces stellium in the eleventh house would often jive with others on a spiritual level. If a Leo stellium shows up, things will be different. The person will be much more focused on their own creative potential and could insist on working all alone. Every other sign combination will be a team player.

12th house - Stelliums in the twelfth house are behind the scenes type people. They are supportive, kind and spiritual. They may be a little out of touch with traditional reality, and take to daydreaming and mental exploration. Neptunian energy is strong here. Sometimes they may get in deep with spirituality or religion. There is a lot of healing potential for those with twelfth house stelliums. They may have unfulfilled dreams, but will help others reach their goals without question. Psychic ability could manifest here. Often twelfth house stelliums show areas of tremendous growth capabilities in this life. The sign of the stellium will show where the work needs to be focused. For instance, a Gemini stellium could indicate a need to open up and share opinions more, or to expand interests and horizons. A Libra stellium could show growth through partnership. In Virgo stelliums you will see more outward energy, and the person will be more rooted and less “dreamy”.

So as you know, I had the pleasure of meeting with Anjali Bhimani (voice actress of Symmetra) who asked me to be part of her IAmFunSize series. As someone who is..basically the same height as her, I was obligated to of course.

Me being notoriously inarticulate, I’d like to expand on my points from my video since I’m better expressing myself in text rather than speech. So read more below if you want to hear my thoughts on creative-block and being an artist.

Your name: submit What is this?

“It must be difficult to maintain a relationship with someone who isn’t in the industry.” The interviewer comments to Shawn instead of asking him a real question. You’re watching the interview streaming live from your laptop at home, and you’re breath catches in your throat when you hear the interviewer bring you up into the conversation.

“Yeah,” Shawn immediately replies, “I mean, marriage is difficult, regardless of careers, but I think it is important to be willing to put in the effort into a relationship, and we do, even though it can be hard sometimes, its all worth it in the end because I wouldn’t want to be with anyone else.”

She nods, agreeing, “A lot of celebrities tend to date and marry other people in the industry, What made you not want to do that?” She continues pushing the subject, and you have no idea why she seems so interested in you, but you wish that she wasn’t.

secret crush | Tom holland x famous reader

requests are open

Tom’s POV

So today I’m going on the Jimmy Kimmel show with Zendaya and being honest I’m very nervous and I don’t know what they gonna ask me. But apparently (y/n) (y/l/n) is going to be on the show as well and she is 100% my biggest woman Crush Wednesday. I just hope nothing is brought up and I don’t completely embarrass myself in front of her.

(Y/n) POV

So I’m waiting backstage at the Jimmy Kimmel show today to promote my new movie I’m kind of nervous because this is a major show I’m going on and I heard there’s a lot of other big celebrities here. I mean Tom holland and Zendaya are here and they also have a really cool movie coming out it would be cool to meet them and Toms kind of cute too so that’s a bonus.
“(Y/n) you’re on in 15 you will be doing a game with the other guests” someone calls out.

Tom’s POV

“So how excited are you for the release of this movie you must feel like you have really made something great” jimmy asked Zendaya and I.

“I mean it’s mad honestly, I feel so lucky and honoured that I’ve got to take on the role again but this time in my own movie, it’s absolutely incredible” I responded with the biggest smile.

Then Zendaya spoke up “ I couldn’t agree more it’s been incredible to make and we have had such amazing people along side us for the journey which is awesome”.

“That’s absolutely great guys from what I’ve seen of the movie it looks like the best Spider-Man movie yet. So Tom there’s some rumours going around that you have your eye someone in Hollywood care to explain” jimmy questioned.

Oh god no, I can’t say it I mean she’s literally back stage.please don’t say anything Zendaya.

I could feel myself blushing gosh this is so embarrassing, “nah there’s none just rumours you know”.

Then Zendaya started talking “don’t be embarrassed tommy you can say it not like she will find out”.

“What are you talking about” I chuckled as the crowd began chanting for me to say it.

“(Y/n) (y/l/n) you always talk about how pretty she is and how good she is in (ur fav show)” Zendaya said with pride. Oh god.

There’s no hiding, this can’t be happening.

“Oh really she’s actually backstage right now” jimmy stated, “what really oh Tom sorry” Zendaya said nervously as I sent her a little glare.

“(Y/n) (y/l/n) come on out” jimmy called.

Y/n POV

I was sitting backstage watching Zendaya and Tom Holland currently getting interviewed by Jimmy. When they asked Tom about his celebrity crush, omg he’s blushing Aahahha this sure is gonna be interesting. That’s when Zendaya said it my name, Tom had a crush on me no way she’s got to be kidding.

That’s when I heard “(y/n) (y/l/n) come on out” oh god.

I walked out waving at the crowd, smiling towards Tom, jimmy and Zendaya god he looked so embarrassed poor guy.

I hugged Zendaya and introduced myself as Tom stood up and I pulled him into a big hug as I whispered “sorry about this, you’re too sweet though” we pulled away as I saw him blushing. I quickly gave jimmy a hug and took a seat.

“So (y/n) I’m sure you were watching the show backstage what do you think” jimmy asked.

Oh god I feel so bad for the guy but he’s a whole lot hotter than I thought gosh.

“I think it’s so sweet and definitely we will have to hang out sometime” I said sending him a wink, what can I say I’m a bit of a flirt.

toms POV

wow she is more beautiful than I thought.

20 mins later the interview and game had ended. Y/n POV

I went back, backstage as I saw Tom heading to his dressing room.

“Hey Tom wait up” I called running in my heels.

“Oh hey (y/n)” he said smiling nervously.

“If what was said out there was true I’d love to hang out sometime so here’s my number message me throw it away it’s your choice” I said handing over my number and giving him a small hug.

Let’s just say he called and I can’t wait to hang out on our date ;).

Special Fic Rec ❤❤

Ok so, I began this blog on December 9th, well, actually I’ve been on tumblr since 2013 (nice, old Naruto Era), yet, I consider this one the actual date of this blog birth, since it was the day I posted my first BTS Fanfiction - Sanitarium (which I still hold very dearly to my heart).

To be honest, even if writing has been one of my passions for many years, I never expected much from my own stories, especially since English killed me in more than one way (ah, it kicked my ass so hard during my high school days lol); yet, I surprisingly found an incredible amount of happiness in writing for seven lovely dorks - not to talk about the crazy, wonderful authors and friends I had the pleasure to meet here, people who helped me grow and who gave me some of the most pleasurable reading moments of my life :’)

But I was saying, I didn’t expect much from posting my fics, yet, nearly 5 months later, I reach my first mile stone. Really, I can’t believe it: 1k people are reading my fics, and supposedly they also enjoy them. It happened quite fast, in my opinion, and I also know I’ve been very lucky for many authors are amazing and still don’t have the exposure they deserve! It takes them a lot of hard work when they should really be appreciated a lot more! This is why, to celebrate this milestone (ok, compared to other authors is not that big of a number, but still I consider it an important accomplishment ;^;) I decided to do a special, big fic rec to share the talent filling this social!!

Some of these writers are super known actually, yet others have a smaller public: they have such a fantastic way with words tho, such a breath-taking creativity, that I just needed to tag them and link their stories - hopefully, some of you will fall in love with their work too; please, if so, go send them all a lot of love, for they are not holy amazing authors but also amazing people :’)

And I’m incredibly happy to have some of them as mutuals, if not even as friends <3 <3

One thing I’m curious about is why taylor swift doesn’t get the respect that she deserves?

She has been in music industry for 10 freaking years. This woman right here has a clean image, no nudity, only pure talent. She’s one of those rare music artists who produce creative contents, real quality content. She can sing, write songs, release a self-written album, play almost all of the possible musical instruments, respects everyone, and to top it all, she shows her never-ending love for her fans. No one’s like Taylor Swift who will stay in her tumblr all day long to make swifties happy. No one’s like Taylor Swift who will ditch awards shows just to stay with us. No one’s like Taylor Swift who will invite her own swifties, and make them listen to her nexth album and hang out with them in her own house. No one is like Taylor Swift. Yet, only we, swifties, can see that. Media portrays her as the most craziest, obsessive girlfriend who will break up with you when you look at another girl but they don’t talk about how Taylor Swift visits a lot of charities and donate her own money. That just because she wrote songs about her ex-boyfriends, just like any other music artists, she’ll get called out. Slut shaming is wrong, skinny shaming is unacceptable, sexual assault shouldn’t be taken as a joke but when it comes to Taylor Swift WHY do people think twice about all of these? In fact, they discredit her from being a victim of slut and body shaming. Everything she does, all you can bring up everytime is. Oh look, she’s playing the victim…again. You call her a Trump Supporter when she hasn’t spoken up about the election, but yet there are a lot of other celebrities who showed their support to Trump publicly. Every award that she gets is rigged? Everything that she does is wrong. One mistake from her is unforgivable. And now you’re asking us what happened to Taylor Swift? Why did she release a song and a music video mocking all the hate you’ve thrown at her? Y'all are asking us why she “changed”? Just stop. Taylor Swift is just a human being. Let her be herself. Let swifties support her without getting called a mainstream lover. Get a life. Respect Taylor Swift. She deserves it more than most of us do. @taylorswift

Taeyang Talks ‘White Night’ Album & Tour, BIGBANG, Mandatory Military Service

On stage Taeyang is captivating, with vocals and a stage presence that exudes confidence and charisma. One of South Korea’s most popular R&B K-pop idols, he’s made his name (and career) as a member of BIGBANG. But that’s only the beginning for the 29-year-old, whose also seen success with his solo releases, though he remains true to his origins.

“All things, to me, go back to being a member of BIGBANG,” the artist tells Billboard.

Decked out in black sweats and Balenciaga high tops, he exuded simplicity in comparison to the flair of his bedazzled and befeathered, primarily white, stage outfits. “I would describe myself as a very plain but very honest person,“ he says. “I don’t really hype myself up with fancy things. I do a lot less than other celebrities because I like being honest. I just want the audience to see that the performances are a real representation of myself.”

Unlike his bandmate G-Dragon – whose existential crisis in the face of lifelong stardom was the focal point of his New York City concert in July – the artist sees little difference between who he is as Taeyang, a stage name meaning “sun” in Korean, and as Dong Youngbae, his given name. “Taeyang has a microphone and makeup, and Youngbae doesn’t,” he said with a characteristically wry grin.

Eleven years into his career as a member of one of South Korea’s most acclaimed boy bands, his Sept. 1 concert at the Theater at MSG in New York was the singer’s first ever solo show in the United States, one of six stateside performances on his White Night tour. Part showcase for his new album and part testament to his long-lived career – he performed BIGBANG’s hits “Bang Bang Bang,” “Fantastic Baby,” and "Last Dance,” the latter of which he revealed was originally meant as a solo track– the White Night concert will be the last time many fans are able to see the K-pop star for the next few years. It also serves as a farewell tour before he is begins his compulsory service with South Korea’s military in upcoming months.

With a small laugh, the artist acknowledged that the album’s release and the accompanying concert series were driven by the upcoming event in his life – like all able-bodied South Korean men, Taeyang must take a break from his career to fulfill his mandatory duty. “The album just conveniently became finished around now,” he said. “I started getting to work on it earnestly at the beginning of this year, but actually began working on new music whenever I had any free time since the [2014] Rise album.”

While Rise served as a lesson in production, taking four years to complete, it was created as he was going through some hard times and the lengthy process made Taeyang feel the need to start something new. “I just wanted to finish it and start off with a fresh slate,” he said. And so he went into the new project that would become White Night with a different state of mind than how he created the previous album: “I wanted to express a more honest version of myself, I wanted to be more genuine. At the same time, I wanted to experience a broader musical spectrum and bring it into my music.”

Taeyang followed the titular concepts of his past albums, all of which have related to the celestial body he takes his stage name from, and picked White Night – or a night that never is properly dark – for the name of his next project. “It’s a natural phenomena and so I wanted to conjure that imagery into a sound.“ The building "White Night” intro track served as a dynamic opener that would set the tone for the whole work and grab listeners’ attentions, while the album ends things off with “Tonight,” a laid back jam featuring Zico that Taeyang says is a song “reminiscent of a strong burning sun.”

“Musically, I wanted to come up with a timeless feeling to present to my fans, that felt both new and very original at the same time. It has chic beats and is very experimental, and incorporates a lot of different kinds of music,” he said. Keeping with the classic vibes, Taeyang drew inspiration from three greats when considering what step or sound to take next on White Night: Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury and Prince.

Working on new music in anticipation of his next album while prepping for BIGBANG’s MADE album ended up working out nicely for Taeyang; his latest single “Darling” was originally intended to be his solo track on the band’s album. But the song’s mellifluous piano chord wasn’t clicking with the melody originally planned for it and Taeyang didn’t feel comfortable including the solo in what would be the group’s last album before members began enlisting."Darling” was eventually rejected for MADE and put on a hard drive’s back burner. “But while I was working with my team to conceptualize White Night, we hit writer’s block and couldn’t come up with a single that I felt would resonate with listeners,“he said. "I wanted something with a similar feel to ‘Eyes, Nose, Lips,’ a similar flow, a similar style, but that had even deeper emotional depth. And that’s when I remembered the older song.”

Taeyang’s quintessential R&B ballad “Eyes, Nose, Lips” played a major role in guiding White Night, with YG Entertainment head Yang Hyun Suk opting for the familiar vibe of “Darling” as White Night’s lead single despite the singer himself preferring the hazy synths of “Wake Me Up.” “After recording it, we all really liked [“Wake Me Up”] and thought that it would be the song that represents the entire album and would become a song that shows a new style of vocal performance from me,” he said. “It’d be an optimal way to show a new side to my music.” The song ended up getting its own glitter-infused music video but wasn’t promoted formally as a single.

Another personal favorite of Taeyang’s on White Night is “Ride,” the first song that was created explicitly for the album: “It has a vibe that I really enjoy, and a kind of classic feel that reminds me of Michael Jackson’s music. I want people to start liking this style because it’s my favorite, so I hope to make more songs like this in the future.”

With an eye on the trends, and charts, Taeyang worked with his team to craft White Night as an album that would suitably follow up the success of Rise and appeal to the public. But while the new album resonated with stateside K-pop fans and has remained steady atop of the World Album chart for two weeks, neither “Darling” nor the album saw widespread success in Korea once it dropped. “I really want to know why [it failed to chart in Korea],” he told Billboard. “I was really satisfied with the album, the songwriting process, prepping for the concert, everything. It was one of the most fulfilling seasons of my career. But, at the same time, Korean charts are really important for me as a Korean artist working with a Korean production team. People may not understand it now, but hopefully someday White Night will be appreciated in the future by listeners. I’m so satisfied that I’m able to create an album like this in my career right now.”

Though White Night will be the last album from Taeyang before he enlists, he’ll be around for quite a bit longer, and will even drop some new music before he goes on hiatus. After finishing up his White Night tour, he’ll join the three other non-enlisted members of BIGBANG at year-end performances and then he plans to release a track in collaboration with the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics in his role as an Olympic ambassador.

Thoughts on the love ban rule (恋愛禁止条例)

In her recent Radio program, Koike Minami from Keyakizaka46 mentioned a paper adressed to all members, officially banning any relationship during their idol activity. It is also known as the Renai Kinshi Jourei, the love ban rule. To allow or forbid this rule have teared apart the fandom for many years, and the ambiguous stand of Akimoto Yasushi (stating there wasn’t such thing as love ban rule) doesn’t help to clear things up. But the issue regarding this rule goes beyond it’s own existence. This is an eternal debate between those who argue we can’t own idols as they are humans with feelings, against those who think it is necessary to preserve their image. To sum things up, what we debate for is our conception of an idol. Through this write up, i will attempt to list all legit arguments from both side so you can make your own opinion on that matter.

“Sasshi scandal was the most talked topic at the time, even more than Acchan graduation”

First, a little bit of history. The love ban rule is much more older than AKB itself. In 1997, Nakazawa Yuko, leader of Morning musume at the time, stated that in their contract, they were forbid to have boyfriend or marry. Ten years later, Kashiwagi Yuki expressed the same statement, that they had to sign a paper in which they pledge to not be in a relationship. What is the purpose of the love ban rule? Simply speaking, it helps the idea of an idol “pure and innocent”, completely devoted to the fans. Management is afraid that the fan significantly decrease his dedication to buy goods and ticket to see his favourite member if she’s in a relationship.

But Let’s take an example of other pop culture. Justin Bieber is a singer, with 99.9% of female fanbase. He works a lot on his image, yet he dated many other celebrities like Selena Gomez. He’s directly concerned with appearance, but his staff allow him to date. In the super strict Kpop industry, even though entertainment companies are very discrete about it, they often acknowledge a relationship when they are revealed, and not opposing them (Exo Kai and F(x) Crystal for example). The question is, why is it allowed in Occidental and Oriental countries like USA and Korea and not in japan? Especially the case of idols.

1st hypothesis, It’s about culture. USA have build their civilization on freedom, and it’s quite hard to “forbid” someone to love, especially someone as popular as Justin bieber. Management strategy to keep hardcore fans would backfire at them, being blamed for pressuring the artist. In Kpop It might depend of the age and experience of the artist. When management knows the artist fanbase is mature enough to accept, they lift the ban. But if the trainee has just debuted with the group, it’s better to not create unnecessary waves that would be an hindrance to the group promotion. Japan has a huge history of hierarchy between genre, family often assimilated with a father who work, and a mother who stay at home to raise the children. Sexism is still rooted in society as it is largely accepted to have gravure photoshoot of idols (often very young), but also promote the girls as cute and innocent. Unconsciously, Japan paradoxal society still allow to reduce a woman basic right in order to preserve a certain idea of what an idol should be.

2st hypothesis, we can say it’s the fan fault for being unrealistic about the concept of an idol. Before being an idol, she is an human being. You can’t mix up reasoning with feelings, as one is led by the brain, the other by the heart. Also, if the idol you support is being happy with someone else, shouldn’t you be happy for her own happiness? It’s not like you’re being her fan in order to date her in the future. You can also be a fan of someone without being physically attracted to her. Like many hardcore metal teenagers adoring metallica. A fan’s love, is different. Something more personal, but loving someone as a 17 years is different from loving at 26, and 40, etc. A teenager should live to the fullest.

“Minegishi scandal blow out to international proportion, wrongly the symbol of Japanese excess”

Not long ago, a company sued a girl for “breach of contract” blaming her for her idol group failure in the market, because she was dating one of her fans. The young girl retorted that i was never mentioned she couldn’t date anyone, even though it was “professionaly” obvious to avoid this situation. The result of the court was that indeed the girl was wrong for not taking into account that it would hurt the group image, but since she dated her boyfriend without the intent to harm the company, she was exempt to pay fee for the prejudice caused.

There’s a big difference between european and asian culture. The first is a lot about freedom (artist love life is his privacy) but asian point of view is about responsability. Japanese are often serious in their work (sometimes they die from it). Even though you have the freedom to come with T-shirt and jeans, you have the responsability to look decent for an interview, which means wearing a suit. Otherwise we don’t take you seriously. In entertainment, you shouldn’t behave in a way that would be a threat to your company or group image. But this rule can’t be applied to everyone because each person has a different situation.

Let’s take the example of Watanabe Mayu. She became very popular, very fast, in a young age. Not only we can assume she didn’t have a lot of free time, but having a relationship exposed would have create an uproar on tabloid. She was very serious about her image because she was aware an incident would break her momemtum. On the other hand, when you’re unknown, like a KKS, it hasn’t the same impact at all, and you have much more free time than a popular member. (and probably the reason why Sasshi’s scandal was exposed only when she became popular).

The problem with micchan scandal, is that not only she was a popular member, but also the captain of a team. What foreigners don’t know, is that in japanese culture, people often shave their head after admitting being in the wrong. Micchan obviously shaved her head on her own will. But foreign newspaper, with little care of details, implied it was a sanction done by management (the video was published on AKB official youtube channel after all). The malicious gossip spread and it was a huge blow to idol entertainment. It doesn’t matter what was the real reason, and the damage was done.

“Shunkan bunshun is often involved in many scandals related to idols”

In fact, it isn’t really about the fan behavior toward her idol that define the existence of the love ban rule. In the case of Kashiwagi Yuki scandal with NEWS’s Tegoshi, it was up to her fanbase to decide if they keep following her or not. In the case of Matsumura Sayuri scandal (above), it turned out more bitter because Nogizaka has a strong image of elegant, calm idols compared to the 48group. Image is not only related to fan, as big companies (a potential source of revenue for popular idol group), won’t choose girls who are involved in a negative image to endorse their products. It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, it’s how those scandal divert from the expected result. Do you remember when Kouhaku utagassen chose HKT instead of Nogizaka in 2014? We will never know, but it’s possible that Nogi appearance was cancelled because of this negative coverage.

Why is management not willing to make a decision, always being ambiguous about it? Because both choice have a negative impact. If you make the love ban rule official, you are seen as a bad company who suppress a girl basic right, and if you officially allow the girls to date, there’s no turning back, and fan’s reaction is unsure. The best alternative is “not to get caught” or “adapt to the situation” rule. In Yukirin’s case, management decided to let it through, because she was too important to the group. Same with Sasshi. We can’t say the same for Murashige Anna, who got almost perma-ban from HKT senbatsu, or Owada Nana and Nishino Miki who soon graduated after being seen at 2AM in a game court with some ex Johnny’s (again).

The love ban rule can be seen as something not coming from fans to their idol, but a rule of self discipline (coming from within), like how you are committed to your work. When you date someone perfectly aware of a bad coverage, you’re taking a risk. This self discipline increase as you became popular. When someone try to get best of both worlds, it can be seen as recklessness toward your job. After all, Kikuchi Ayaka or Komori Mika graduated AKB to get married. When someone get outside of the idol field, fans are much more keen to be happy for their idol happiness. Because they are past their idol phase. Jurina once said “i will date after being an idol. But for the moment, i want to focus on my work”.

“Yukirin votes dropped up to 70 000 votes for the 8th Sousenkyo. Note that 7th Sousenkyo was her fanbase last push to put her 1th, with a 60k increase too ”

To the question if the love ban rule is something fair or unfair, it’s hard to decide because feelings are involved with it. I personally hadn’t my oshimen being involved in a scandal, so i don’t know how i would react. However, what i believe is, for japanese, that the renai kinshi jourei is a self inflicted rule. It just depends on how serious you are toward the job of idol. If you don’t accept to have your love life put on hold, just don’t be an idol. It’s even more true that an idol not only care for her image, but is also responsible for the group image. When people quote Sasshi’s case that scandal doesn’t influence the popularity of a member, keep in mind that it happened when she was a KKS, barely being an extra in Everyday Kachuusa MV. Taking such a risk to date someone when she’s 4th in sousenkyo, her answer would have been completely different.

My humble opinion : If my oshimen was caught in a scandal, i would probably be disappointed. Not because i thought of her as pure and innocent (let’s be real, women also have libido, and love is something wonderful), but because she’s taking a risk to damage her or the group reputation. She’s aware of the damage, and she took it anyway. To be responsible, is a form of respect.

In the future, we probably will see a change of mindset, with a more accepting industry toward idols. Because, there’s no proper definition of an idol.

Eric David Harris. Where to start? I wish I wouldn’t know you, I really do. I wish you would graduate, go to college or Marines (it was possible after taking off the medication you were on and waiting for a few months). I wish you would find your love, have kids together and live with your family in a cute house surrounded by forest where you and your kids would just play hide ‘n seek or perform being in a war (as you used to with your old friends when you were a little boy). It’s possible that life of 36 years old man like you would look like this. I wish you would simply enjoy your life. I wish you would. I wish you could.

A lot of people may not understand why to wish nice birthday to a cold blooded killer who took the ability to celebrate birthdays from 13 others. A lot of people may not understand that before this horrifying act you were HUMAN, like us. A lot of people may not understand why did you do what you did. But some of us do. I do.

I wish I wouldn’t have to write this. I really wish I wouldn’t know you. The fact that I wouldn’t know about your existence (which would be a pity since you’re the person with whom I have a lot in common) but you would be alive, simply enjoying your life would hurt less than the fact that you aren’t here anymore, never won’t be again and so 14 others. But these are only wishes. Unfortunately not accomplished.

Eric. I didn’t even know you and I miss you. I don’t know how many nice birthdays you were capable of having but I hope you are enjoying your day somewhere with Dylan and Sparky, knowing that here, even on this filthy planet are few people who understand.

I know that you dreamed of having the ability to discover the deepest places of oceans, that was your vision of afterlife. I hope your dream did come true.

See you next time Rebby.

With love, your Arlene. ♥

on the thing about connie being disconnected from her culture for some reason…

i live in the uk, but my city does a huge diwali celebration every year, along with lots of other cultural celebrations not originally from the uk. this is because i live in a very diverse & multicultural city - one of the uk’s biggest universities is in our city and it has students from all over, so we just ended up with loads of people from around the world living here.

beach city is also a really diverse city, even putting aside the literal aliens. so it makes sense for beach city, or another town near beach city, to do the same as my town!

so consider: there’s a big diwali celebration coming up, and connie’s super excited because she loves diwali. steven’s like “uh, what’s diwali?” and connie just knows that steven will love it too (he would love the lights be honest) so she invites him and the gems to come celebrate with her.

and the episode would just be a cute filler about the gems celebrating diwali with connie. maybe a monster would try to interrupt the proceedings, but they realise it’s been attracted by the lights, and ultimately manage to calm it down and get it away from the celebrations. just so it’s a proper episode.

it’s be so cute! and it would be great for hindu kids watching because they could feel connected to connie, and it’d be great for non-hindu kids because they would be learning about another culture.

alternatively, do it with holi… pearl nearly has a heart attack from all the mess but has a good time anyway, amethyst and steven get way into it, at some point a fusion shows up and everyone present just goes completely ham on the fusion who immediately regrets everything (i can’t tell who’d be funnier - opal would be like “you know, i’m not sure they thought this through”, sugilite would be like “YEAH BRING IT ON!!”, sardonyx would also get totally into it). garnet tries to use future vision to dodge the colour until connie tells her that getting covered is the point, at which point garnet purposely gets hit by every single pit of paint coming her way.

[note: i’m a white pagan. i am not, in any way, hindu. please tell me if i said something insensitive here so i can correct and/or delete it!]

curiousbluepencil  asked:

Who do you hate more, Endeavor or Overhaul? I'm personally inclined to go with Endeavor, simply because we've had more/longer exposure to his monstrosities, and also due to how, unlike Overhaul, he truly thinks himself worthy of praise and prestige in spite of his evil nature (as I've said before, he's essentially a villain, which is both pathetically ironic and terribly fitting); he's incredibly deluded on top of being a petty, egocentric megalomaniac. He's pretty fucking stupid, too. Thoughts?

I’m gonna go with Endeavor too, for the same reason that people hate Umbridge more than Voldemort.

Overhaul might not be on All For One’s level, but he has the same sort of feel, as an antagonist. He’s a villain on a grand scale, with a Master Plan to seize power in the criminal underworld no matter the cost. He’s Evil with a capital E, cold and calculating and charismatic with a plague doctor aesthetic and the air of someone who holds a lot of strings.

Endeavor, on the other hand, is a privileged self-centered celebrity who beats his wife, neglects and abuses his children, and tries to force his own plans onto son’s future.

Most of us have never met anyone like Overhaul, but I bet a lot of people have met someone like Endeavor. At the very least, I bet a lot of us have turned on the news and seen celebrities shrug off allegations of abuse and misconduct for no other reason than they’re famous or wealthy enough. I bet a lot of people have had parents with unreachable standards trying to micromanage their futures, forcing them into career paths so that said parents can live vicariously through them. Domestic abuse is something that we’re all familiar with, either experiencing it ourselves or being aware of it happening to our friends and peers.

As a villain, Overhaul is someone we view from afar. But Endeavor hits a lot closer to home.
