lots of knitting here

Max sitting with the Milking Mothers and they teach him how to knit.  He starts knitting for relaxation and makes random things.

Furiosa finds a brightly colored cozy on the stick shift of her new war rig.  It’s so weird but so precious she can’t remove it.

War pups with misshapen knit hats on.

Big, tough, War Boys with little black knitted baggies tied to their belts.

Max makes new fingerless gloves for Dag, in a really garish bright green yarn since she works with the plants.  She doesn’t really like them but wears them anyways because a gift carries the giver’s warm spirit in it.

Max leaves a light yellow pouch for Toast…she is confused but oddly delighted.  No one has ever given her a gift before.

Capable requests a shawl and Max tries to make something somewhat “pretty”, so he asks his knitting mentor how to make something different, but he ends up making something that looks like an old fish net.  Capable still loves it because it’s unique.

The next try he nails it, perfect shawl, in Cheedo’s favorite colors.

He makes a few more for the Vuvalini and some of the younger girls at the Citadel.

He makes one more, out of dark blue and aqua-marine colored yarn with flecks of light green and tan.  He’d been saving this yarn for a while.  It reminds him of the ocean where his home used to be, but it also reminds him of his new home, where he is now.  He puts it away and insists he just made it to keep his hands busy, but everyone else knows why he made it.  Capable snatches it when he’s not around and leaves it for Furiosa, with a note that simply says, “from Max”.

My plan this years was to knit lots of socks. I’m slowly getting there. Here is some progress shots of the socks I knit for my man over three days.

fun specialist 33 headcanons in which everything is beautiful and happy bc this is what we deserve:

  • multilingual kara + grant both switching between languages depending on which fits the conversation best
  • multilingual kara + grant forgetting which language they’re supposed to be speaking so grant tries to order their starbucks in french and kara corrects him in spanish and their barista is like the shit is happening
  • history nerds kara and grant going on museum dates and getting really excited + having deep intellectual discussions
  • kara reconnecting with her family and convincing grant to contact thomas and rosie because it’s never too late okay?
  • grant going for family dinners with the palamas family and he’s all nervous at first (“what if they hate me though kara?”) but they obviously don’t bc he’s a little nerd who is so in love with their daughter and she’s so happy with him
  • kara + grant getting the “so how did you meet?” story down to perfection like it’s this whole “he saved me” // “we saved each other” which has everyone aww-ing
  • both of them aggressively trying to find their passion together now that they are hella unemployed and all they know how to do is kill. it turns out kara’s knits when she’s stressed but that’s not so good as a job.
  • kara + grant adopting a dog!! or possibly a lot of dogs.
  • kara changing her face to mess with people like you just know she would do it.
  • kara + grant going on holidays bc it’s so long since they ever had a proper holiday because travelling with shield so that they can kill people doesn’t count. the beach counts though. so does sightseeing in paris.
  • saturday morning brunch dates bc grant ward wants his fuckin pumpkin pancakes.

11, 17, for the crochet ask. :)

11. What’s the most outrageous thing someone’s ever asked you to make for them?

I don’t get a lot of outrageous asks for products really. I’m pretty clear about time and cost. I had one person ask about getting 3 of those mermaid tail blankets made for them and asked for a quote and once I sent it with an explanation of costs and stuff they never got back to me lol

17. Do you do any other crafts?

I do a lot here and there. I knit and crochet and have dabbled in spinning. I have a cross stitch I keep meaning to get to. I also do tiny bits of bead and clay work for stitch markers and notions. I think that’s it though :P

This is my knitting corner.  I spend a lot of time here!  When I am in the middle of designing and making swatches, it is utter chaos.  I’m surprised I can even find anything.

Right now I’m in the middle of dreaming up designs for next spring and fall and also for submitting to magazines.  Yarn everywhere, little slips of paper with ideas written on them, multitudes of stitch dictionaries with post it notes on almost every page.  Too many ideas, too little time.

And if you wonder what my desk looks like…..

…not too bad at the moment but it will get worse.

Yes, that is an old piece of kitchen counter top that I’ve had for years.  It was once used as a sewing table but now is the only thing big enough to contain all my stuff for design work.  It’s my little corner, and I love working here.  Looking out onto my back yard, I watch bald eagles fly over daily.

I had a very blissful blissfest! (tried posting at the time, but I was in the middle of the woods in northern Michigan, so there’s only so much you can do)

It was the first music festival I’ve been to because i was always too sheltered or broke to go, but it was everything i needed my first time to be!  I day-tripped in the forest with my seahorse clan, started a tribal mud dance to the beat of twenty drums, traded the flower crown i made to borrow a vintage fortune-telling game from a young mystic warrior girl, watched a sweet chorus of angels sing somewhere over the rainbow in harmony as they all played ukuleles, slept under the stars with my best friend in a hammock, went on a magical rainbow vision quest in the woods while i was heavily dosed, discovered myself yet again and found the self-confidence buried deep within me, danced and screamed to one of my favorite local bands until i lost my voice, drank space vodka and ate festival food, got to see laith al-saadi play (he’s from my hometown), romped around barefoot for the whole festival, learned that as long as i trust myself– things will be okay, and gave away free clothing & water bottles & jewelry & beer & bubble wands!

Blissfest is so great because there are a lot of small, tightly-knit farm communities in this area that all gather here, so it’s like a music festival where every five minutes you’re running into your neighbors and favorite local musicians and best friends, and they are all as catastrophically spliffed up as you are :D teehee

This has been bothering me for a long time but here it goes

I am in the Tom Hiddleston fandom but I notice that hardly anyone wants to talk to me or include me in their ‘groups’.  Anytime I reblog something in a convo, my comments never get reblogged.  The paranoid side of me thinks was it something I said or did in the past but there was nothing I can think of.  All I do is reblog TH pics and gifs and occasionally have commentary, I dont get involved in any drama..   This really does trigger a lot feelings of being left out and excluded (which happened to me a lot growing up).   Sometimes I even wonder why I am here if I feel this way.  I notice a lot of tight-knit ‘cliques’ here but I am never included or invited.   This does really play into my insecurity.  There are a lot of ‘mean girls’ types here

Demoing King of Tokyo at a toy store in MA for neighborhood toy store day. Getting a lot of knitting done lol

Woman who works here came up to me and my wife and said, “This picture seems wrong. Should be the other way around!” Then said later she knew nothing about dinosaurs because she has a daughter not a son…

I didn’t know girls didn’t like dinosaurs.
