Lance knows that he’s not the best member on the team, he sees all the looks from Shiro and Allura. Yeah he tries his hardest but fighting has never been his thing. Back at home he would wrestle with his siblings but that was the extent of his fighting skills.
On days he would let his mind wander too far he would go to the training deck and try to fight out his anger like Keith does but that never really helped him.
One night he went into the training deck to get some extra practice when an idea came to him. He plugged in his music player into the control system and activated the training bot.
Never before had he fought with such ease. With the music playing he was able to turn it into a dance, a fast paced, dangerous, and absolutely stunning dance.
He trained like that for weeks, his skills steadily improving. But he never told the others. He’s not sure why he felt the need to keep it a secret from the rest of the team, but he did. Maybe he thought they would laugh at him for training that way, maybe he was afraid that wouldn’t let him train that way anymore cuz that’s not how soldiers fight.
Maybe it was both.
It was a day after a particularly hard mission that they found him. The missing went off, things didn’t go as planned and while no one got hurt, the mission was still a failure.
Lance had waited for everyone to go to sleep before he went to the training deck and started from level one. When the others woke up, on the way to the dining room they heard music. Not loud but definitely there. Together they followed the sound to the training deck doors, only for them to be locked. Allura then led the group to the training decks observation room.
They were all in shock to see Lance fighting. Beautiful and deadly. There were training bots scattered all across the deck, and the castle was having a hard time clearing the broken bodies with the rate Lance was dropping them. They watched for a while, totally captivated by the Lance was moving his body. Allura was the first to regain herself and ended the training session. Just before the the console shut off, it displayed the level it had ended on. Level 23.
raise your hand if you are most likely to throw a tantrum when you’re tired but then don’t want to go to sleep so you throw another tantrum but you’re still tired so you keep throwing tantrums and your cg just doesn’t know what to do with you
hc: the more tired keith is, the more he talks like a cartoon villain
shiro: oh sorry, keith. i used the last of the milk.
keith, with cereal already in his bowl, circles under his eyes: oh, how cute, shiro. so you thought you could put the carton back in the fridge and get away with it, huh? tsk. *glares as he puts a spoon of dry cereal in his mouth, maintaining eye contact* how careless.
i commissioned this piece from the kind and talented @mesknoxx as a companion to chapter four of my fluffy season three fix it fic – we don’t talk very much (we just fake being nice) – in which clarke and lexa attend an azgeda coronation ball. this is the artist’s rendering of the dresses they wore.
One thing that amaze me from the whole humans are space orcs is that, as far i know, no one have mentioned how human media or more specific “Human horror / sci fi media” will affect how the rest of galactic society will perceive humanity
Aliens surprised about how they have never cross paths with the aliens species the humans have battle as see in these “movies” humans love to watch
At first they thinks “movies” must be some class of audiovisual record of human history to be thaught to future genertions but then they are atonished about how humans look foward to see and renact some of these “movies” in what they called “reboots” and collect some ritual figures of the heros and adversaries in that movies.
Even the young ones get some of this as “toys”
Humans are a proud warrior race it seems
But then, it sinks to them “We never have heard about that aliens species before…” and the humans looks almost so casual sharings and retelling this movies almost funnily between them. And its shocking because, how one single race could just have extinguished from the face of the universe multiple threats and just shrug it off??
Its not a surpise that when the first contact bewtween space community and the human race start with “Hello humans! We come in peace! No, seriously.. really we really come in peace. We know about the legendary tales of Ellen Ripley and Will Smith and do not have a death wish”
something small to commemorate her one year angelversary.
thank you for everything you gave us. there aren’t words enough. wish you could have been here to see how beautiful and perfect you were. the galaxy belongs to you. miss you space mum. always. you are the last jedi.
we love you. she knows. no one’s ever really gone… <3
i feel like coffee shops are the opposite of liminal spaces
i’ve done a decent amount of traveling and yeah there’s always places that aren’t quite real, that seem a bit out of time and out of real-space - threshold places. and those are great, i love them, the rest stations and 3am train stations and the ambiguity of reality there
but coffee shops are exactly the opposite of that, at least for me - anywhere in the world i can find somewhere to sit with my hands around a warm cup in a place that smells good and sounds like people, and it’s grounding, it’s a sense of place stemming from sensation rather than location. everything about them is very very real - the warmth and people and noise and familiarity even if you can’t read the characters of the menu.
i don’t know if this rings true for everyone, and i don’t know if there’s a better phrase for something that’sso emphatically not a liminal space, that’s a piece of reality wherever you are, even when the rest of the world is strange. but there will always be liminal spaces to pass through and it’s comforting to know that there will always be something like a coffee shop on the other side.
