So I wanna try to do the thing with words. Spoilers for all of Season 4 of Lost Girl. Also some talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but it’s brought in as a comparison. Still, beware spoilers.
In Season 6 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Willow, a witch, loses someone she cares deeply about, and goes off the deep end initially trying to get said person back, but it devolves into her going into a rampage and (eventually) another that she cares about bringing her back. Dark!Willow, says, to Buffy. ”Let me tell you something about Willow. She’s a loser, and she always has been. People picked on Willow in junior high school, high school, up until college with her stupid mousy ways. And now… Willow’s a junkie.” She describes her normal persona as being scared and now, she’s a super powerful witch that’s juiced on magical energy.
She also has struggles with her darker urges both before and after this transformation takes place.
With Kenzi’s death (which was gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking), Bo said she was willing to do anything to get her back, and that the people who tried to cross her should be the ones afraid, that she was done being scared. She was done being afraid.
I’m not saying that it will cause Bo to go on some murderous rampage, but I do feel that there may be a lot of lines that Bo will cross in trying to bring Kenzi back. Lines that she wouldn’t have crossed normally.
I think it’ll be really interesting to see how deeply Kenzi’s death affects Bo in the long run, and although I’ve wanted to see an extended Dark!Bo arc, the exploration of her struggling with it that has been hinted at since mid-Season 2 may finally come to light.
But for now, like every other Lost Girl fan and all the characters, we grieve for Kenzi, and all the wonderful things she brought to the show. I’m still in denial that she’s gone for good though. Bo will find a way to bring her back. Just knowing her and her conviction when she says that she will.
It just begs the question: how far is Bo willing to go to get her back?
