So, cosplaying Guzma gave me the confidence the other day to actually rap in front of a crowd, and I had the rest of my Skull squad do as they pleased. 8);

(small note: i have bad anxiety and have literally been working the nerve up to try doing this for over 10 years and for the fact that I didn’t puke from stage fright is a HUGE achievement for me)

The margin for error is so small. I mean, one half a step too late or too early and you don’t quite make it. One half second too slow, too fast and you don’t quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us.

“Since the opening of The Phantom of the Opera in London, I have had the pleasure of directing it on Broadway, in Tokyo, Vienna, Los Angeles, Chicago, Hamburg, Melbourne, Fort Lauderdale, Toronto, and now Singapore and Hong Kong.

In every instance it changes - not radically, but subtly. The different configuration of the theatres, their distinctive atmosphere, and the chemistry of the casting sitimulate me to examine the movement in scenes, emphasizing something which eluded me before, refocusing attention on one or another character. Some of the people emerge funnier than their predecessors, some more threatening.

Audiences contribute as well. Some respond vocally; others wait until the end of the show to react. The Japanese, for example, didn’t laugh in the usual places and there was no applause during the performance. But, at the end of the show, their response lasted longer than any other.

There are dramatic differences also in the work habits of each country. From my time in Canada emerged unique impressions: 1) there was a welcoming awareness of our presence in the community which made rehearsals almost a family affair - “How’s it going?” was a question asked not only in my hotel, but by strangers in restaurants and on the street, 2) and there was a discipline inspired not by authority, but by enthusiasm.

I suppose I don’t know what to expect from an audience in Singapore or Hong Kong, through I’ve enjoyed visiting both places in recent years. I suppose that’s part of the excitement with live theatre. I’ll just have to wait and see”
