loretta lee

When Tommy Lee Jones was first cast to play Doolittle Lynn he went to meet Loretta and Doo in Las Vegas. According to Loretta he was hoping that Doo would help him with the role, but he had no interest. It wasn’t until filming began in Butcher Holler that Doo softened his opinion. This is due to Tommy Lee buying a jug of moonshine, getting drunk and driving the back roads of Kentucky. Lee was arrested before filming could start. Lynn recalled that that was the moment that Doo decided “that Tommy Lee Jones was a man he could like.”
