loreal lumi

Had to see what the hype was about these raves..

  • Revlon Colorstay Foundation
  • Revlon Colorstay Concealer/Corrector
  • L'oreal Lumi Foundation
  • L'oreal Lumi Concealer/Corrector

So far, I am really enjoying the L'Oreal Lumi foundation.  It gives me a nice dewy glow and has sheer coverage.  Very similar to a tinted moisturizer.  The concealer/corrector is great for brightening up under-eye circles but I don’t recommend using it as a concealer because the coverage and color is light. You don’t want to be using anything light to conceal blemishes.  Overall, this would be my go to foundation and corrector during days I don’t want to wear too much makeup.

Revlon Colorstay -  I have yet to test out this weekend.  Post will be updated later.

Stay beautiful people!

anonymous asked:

I've finally got around to starting my makeup kit and realized I'm totally stumped on which foundations I should stock up on first. I don't have a large clientele but it's decent. Can you give me some good foundations from drugstore to high end? Can you also give me some suggestions on other things I should put in my kit? I didn't realize how hard it would be since I can get serious anxiety from looking at all these products! Lol thanks so much in advance.

Hi there!

When it comes to building up your freelance kit with face products, keep in mind that everyone has different skin types, skin tones, preferences. You’ll want to have foundations that will work with dry skin, oily skin, combination skin, people with acne, people who want full coverage, people who want really light, dewy coverage.

If you can’t afford to build up a huge face product collection just yet, mix and match products to fit your client’s need! If you only have a matte foundation add a little bit of liquid highlighter into a foundation to make it more luminous, add a hydrating setting spray, use a luminous base/primer. There are ways to make one foundation work for a variety of looks and skin types.

Also try to have a wide range of shades for a variety of skin tones. I’d recommend buying a lightest shade and a darkest shade and a few medium shades that you can mix together to create the perfect shade for each client. You can even mix foundations for a unique look/finish!

Try to have

  • A full coverage, matte/satin foundation. This will work for weddings, photoshoots, heavy glam looks. Try foundations like Loreal Infallible Pro Matte (their setting spray is great, too!), Estee Lauder Double Wear, Dermablend Cover Creme, MAC Studio Fix, Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation, Giorgio Armani Luminous SIlk and/or Lasting Silk.
  • A light weight foundation. BB creams, tinted moisturizers, light weight foundations. NARS Sheer Glow, MAC Face and Body, Makeup Forever Face and Body, Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation, Loreal True Match Foundation.
  • A moisturizing foundation. Loreal Magic Lumi Foundation, Too Faced Born This Way, Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation, YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Illuminating Foundation.

Face product add ons

  • Primers/moisturizers for all skin types. Try to have a light-weight gel or oil controlling moisturizer for oily/combination skin types and more hydrating moisturizing bases for more dry skin types. The foundation won’t look good if the base is melting off or looking dry and flakey!
  • Liquid illuminators. These can be mixed with foundation, moisturizers, used alone, under powder highlight for a more intense shine.
  • Setting sprays that are hydrating and long wearing. One for oily/combination skin and one for dry skin. For oily skin check out ones like Loreal Infallible Setting Spray, Urban Decay All Nighter. For dry skin check out Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist, rose water, MAC Fix Plus. Setting sprays will also help any foundation/powder look less cakey/dry.
  • Translucent powder. Translucent powders will work on most skin types and skin tones making them a great universal powder. I recommend ones slightly tinted to avoid a white flash back in photos. Try ones from Ben Nye or the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder (best one!)

5374  asked:

What are the best liquid illuminators for mixing in with foundation?

Illuminators are one of my favourite products, they can make skin look glowy and healthy and not to mention give you Victoria Secret looking cheekbones. If you want something a little more subtle, mixing a drop of illuminator in with your foundation can be a great way to brighten up your face and make your skin look healthy.

virtual-sass  asked:

I have this problem with my powder highlight looking super powdery on my skin and not glowy/shiny at all! any tips or should I get a new highlighter?

You’re probably using the wrong highlight for the look you’re going for. When your highlight looks powdery or cakey it’s because you’re laying on more than you need to because you’re trying to get more of a glow. Your highlight could also look powdery because your foundation/base is too powdery/cakey, so keep that in mind! Also, going for a highlight a shade or two lighter than your own skin tone will give the most pop. Typically more pearlescent, creamy shades will be the most noticeable on the skin as opposed to beige and golden highlights.

For a highlight with a high shine impact try

  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector $38 (in any formulation)
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminators $28
  • Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders $38
  • ColourPop Highlighters $5
  • Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks $46
  • Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder $46
  • Benefit High Beam $26 (liquid)
  • Loreal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator $13

For an intense highlight you can do a few things

  • Use a cream or liquid highlighter. These never look powdery and can help your achieve that fresh, glowy look. Some highlights will look more wet, dewy while others will be more metallic.
  • Mist a setting spray or hydrating spray all over the skin or just in the areas you highlighted. The setting spray will wet the powder/cream to intensify that highlight. Think of it like using an eyeshadow wet!
  • Layer highlighters! Add a super glowy highlight right on the highest point of the cheek bones under your normal highlight. This is great if you want a glow but don’t want your whole cheek to be basically metallic. You’ll need a smaller, tapered brush to get the highlight right at the top of the cheekbones.

What are some good drugstore highlighters?

It’s no secret that I love drugstore products (I mean who doesn’t love getting an amazing product for an amazing price?) Whilst drugstore brands have hundreds of lipsticks, mascaras and foundations they often lack in the extra products, like highlighters. When it comes to the drugstore highlighters are rare, glittery and often look chalky on the skin. In saying this, I do have a few drugstore faves.

Whether it’s a creamy illuminator tapped onto my cheekbones, a dab of shimmery shadow in the inner corners of my eyes or a hint of light reflecting concealer on my cupids bow; on the days I don’t contour I still highlight. Highlighter just has this amazing way of instantly brightening your face and making you look like you’ve had eight hours sleep (even though you’ve really only had two)

Hey what are some foundations give a flawless airbrushed look?

Hello :)

If you want a foundation for a flawless, more air bushed look try foundations that are super silky and smooth that will just glide over any imperfections like pores, acne, uneven texture, lines, etc. Anything too matte and thick can cling to imperfections and anything too light weight won’t make much of a difference.

You may also want to try perfecting primers under your makeup! Using a silicone like primer will smooth over the skin so any makeup applied on top will look more flawless. Check out primers like Kiehls Miracle Blur, Benefit Porefessional, Tarte Poreless Smoothing Primer, Maybelline Baby Skin or ELF Mineral Infused Primer.

Try foundations like

Loreal Visible Lift Blur Foundation $12. This foundation is a “blurring” foundation so it will soften and imperfections and look really smooth and flawless on the skin.

YSL Touche Eclat Foundation $57. This foundation has a sort of a gel, cream consistency so it just glides over the skin and gives the skin this beautiful sheen. Will give your skin a soft, smooth finish!

Loreal Magic Lumi Foundation $9. This foundation doesn’t cling or draw attention to imperfections and gives your skin a satin, glowing finish.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation $62. This is like liquid silk on your skin! Gives the most beautiful, flawless finish.

ruthlesslyabsurd  asked:

Could you tell is your all time favorite foundation and why? Just curious

I have a few different foundations I use for different occasions! Keep in mind I have combination oily skin and prefer a more satin/semi glowy finish.

My top 3 favorites are (i’ll list some dupes below)

  • Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
  • Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk
  • Dior Skin Forever

My every day foundation is Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua because it’s super light weight (water based), gives a good medium coverage and looks really natural and glowy. It never looks cakey or over done which I love for every day like school, grocery shopping, errands, etc. I have combination oily skin so I love that it melts into the skin through out the day instead of getting oily it just looks dewy and fresh all day. Make sure to shake the bottle before each use since it is water based!

My flawless foundation routine would include Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. It has a medium to buildable coverage so i can get a fuller coverage finish when I want to look extra flawless. The finish is so beautiful, like a glowy satin, not dewy but not matte. Think NARS Sheer Glow but with more coverage and more long lasting. Just make sure to shake the bottle before each use because it will separate!

When I want my foundation to last all day I got for Dior Skin Forever! It has a medium to full coverage and a satin finish. It’s very creamy and blend able so it looks really flawless on the skin. It’s long wearing without being too drying and matte. Great for more combination skin like mine!

Some dupes for these/drugstore foundations I enjoy are Loreal Magic Lumi Foundation (Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk dupe) and Maybelline Superstay (Dior Skin Forever dupe).

hashtagproblematic  asked:

I have very dry skin, and I'm looking for super dewy foundations. I like the maybelline fit me original, and the loreal true match lumi is alright. So basically, are there any foundations similar to the maybelline fit me?

Hello :)

Loreal Magic Lumi and Maybelline Fit Me for dry/normal skin are the two main dewy skin foundations at the drugstore so if you can’t find any similar foundations you can always make your foundations more dewy by

  • Adding a drop of facial oil to the foundation and mix them together on the back of your hand and apply the foundation for a more dewy, glowing finish
  • Use a shimmery, illuminating primer under your foundation like Loreal’s Magic Lumi Primer. You can even mix the primer in with the foundation before applying
  • Mix in a little moisturizer or use a heavier moisturizer or oil under your foundation
  • Use a wet sponge to apply your foundation like a damp beauty blender
  • Add a finishing spray like rose water or something like NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray or MAC Fix + to help make the foundation look more dewy and “wet”

Check out foundations like

Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Foundation

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, a super dewy tinted gel and their Bareskin foundation which is also dewy but has more coverage

Garnier Skin Renew BB Cream for Normal to Dry Skin, has awesome coverage for a BB Cream and is really moisturizing and dewy!

sweetlusst  asked:

Right now I'm using makeup forever HD foundation and I love it.. But I'm wanting to try something new that's still has buildable full coverage but is more dewy and luminous looking.. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much!☺️

Hello! :)

There aren’t too many full coverage, dewy foundations out there any more luminous ones will have more of a sheen and luminous finish rather than dewy but you can always add glow with illuminating primers and powder highlights! Setting with a hydrating setting spray like Rose Water will add to that glow too!

Check out foundations like

  • NARS All Day Luminous Foundation
  • Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk
  • Lancome Teint Miracle
  • Loreal True Match Lumi Foundation (medium coverage)

If you want to continue using your current foundation yet get that all over luminous look you could try mixing a pump of a liquid illuminizer with your foundation on the back of your hand. This will add some luminosity and glow to your foundation without having to change foundations! You can even apply a thin layer under foundation so the glow will come through under the foundation without having any shimmer in your actual foundation.

You can use something like Loreal Magic Lumi Primer… $10 at Target!

hotchocolatebabe  asked:

Hi! I've been really into that dewy look on my skin lately so I want to try some good quality highlighters or illuminators to give me that dewy, wet look. Can you recommend me some and also can you explain how i can get that wet look with my blushes too? Thank you :)

Hello :)

To get a more “wet look” i’d recommend using cream blushes and cream/liquid highlighters! They are more liquidy and wet so they won’t look like powder shimmer but more dewy, healthy skin!

Some cream blushes are still cream to powder so look for creamy, almost oily feeling cream blushes, any cream blush that’s too dry will just look like a powder.

Try wet cream blushes like

  • MAC Cremeblend Blushes
  • Stila Convertible Color
  • Josie Maran Coconut Water Color Cheek Gelee
  • NYX Rouge Cream Blush
  • ELF HD Cream Blush

Try wet liquid illuminators like

  • Loreal Magic Lumi Primer
  • NARS Liquid Illuminator in Copacabana
  • MAC Cream Color Bases (shell is a great one!)
  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (comes in pressed and liquid form, both great for a wet look!)
  • Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer
  •  NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator
  • Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator

To add to the “wet” look try adding a finishing spray like MAC Fix Plus! This will add some hydration as well as let the foundation settle into the skin looking more natural and dewy :)

wretchedsilence  asked:

Any products that'll help a tired college student look (alive) awake?

Ooh great question :)

When I have class and i’m exhausted I like to keep the focus on my skin, keeping my skin more dewy and radiant will help me look like I got plenty of sleep! Here are some great tips/products to use in the morning to pep up your look and help you look more alive and radiant!

  • Nude eyeliner in the waterline. Using a nude eyeliner in the waterline will make the eyes look more bright and awake taking away any redness that comes along with tired eyes. Rimmel makes a great nude eyeliner.
  • A bright inner corner. Using a pale shimmery shadow in the inner corner of the eye is a great way add some glow and brightness to the eyes.
  • Dewy skin. Sometimes overly matte skin can look a little dull and tired. Skin with a little glow and radiance will make your skin look like it got a full 8 hours of sleep. You can do this by using a dewy foundation like Loreal Magic Lumi or using a more long wearing foundation like Covergirl 3 in 1 Outlast and using a shimmery highlighter on the cheek bones, down the nose, cupids bow and under the brow bone.
  • A bright under eye. Using a concealer a shade or two lighter than your skin tone under your eyes blended down will really brighten and lift the face. Use a lightweight concealer like Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer or Loreal Magic Lumi Concealer.
  • Add some color to the face. Adding a little blush on your cheeks or color to your lips will make you look more radiant and healthy! If you’re not used to color just use a little bit of bronzer to add warmth to the skin. Using a cream blush and a sheer bright lip color will help you look the most “alive” and radiant.
