I have very dry skin, and I'm looking for super dewy foundations. I like the maybelline fit me original, and the loreal true match lumi is alright. So basically, are there any foundations similar to the maybelline fit me?

Hello :)

Loreal Magic Lumi and Maybelline Fit Me for dry/normal skin are the two main dewy skin foundations at the drugstore so if you can’t find any similar foundations you can always make your foundations more dewy by

  • Adding a drop of facial oil to the foundation and mix them together on the back of your hand and apply the foundation for a more dewy, glowing finish
  • Use a shimmery, illuminating primer under your foundation like Loreal’s Magic Lumi Primer. You can even mix the primer in with the foundation before applying
  • Mix in a little moisturizer or use a heavier moisturizer or oil under your foundation
  • Use a wet sponge to apply your foundation like a damp beauty blender
  • Add a finishing spray like rose water or something like NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray or MAC Fix + to help make the foundation look more dewy and “wet”

Check out foundations like

Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Foundation

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, a super dewy tinted gel and their Bareskin foundation which is also dewy but has more coverage

Garnier Skin Renew BB Cream for Normal to Dry Skin, has awesome coverage for a BB Cream and is really moisturizing and dewy!

ok I tried to do my top 6 beauty products of 2015 but it turned into 10????
1. Betty Lou-Manizer by The Balm: this is my holy grail highlighter I wear it everyday I do my makeup
2. inglot gel liner #77: I’ve talked about this so many times if you’re looking for a cheap very black long lasting gel liner this is it
3. cerave foaming face wash: I love this and @smelsea actually recommended it to me they also have a cream cleansed for dry/combo skin
4. BH cosmetics angled blush brush: idk what brand this brush in the pic is, but mine is BH cosmetics and I use it to apply my highlighter it works a million times better than a fan brush imo
5. skindinavia setting spray: kept my makeup from Melting off my face all summer in humid ass New York
6. Nars all day luminous/Loreal lumi tru match: if you can’t afford the Nars the Loreal is a pretty good dupe for it if not better tbh
7. Colorpop ultra matte lipstick in limbo: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
8. Loreal smoldering eye pencil: it’s $9 but soooooo worth it
9. maybelline colossal volume mascara: this is the best mascara I ever used imo it’s so much better than the Better than Sex mascara and I love that one too

I tag @flacarica @shes-a-virgo @jolinxo @egobirth @ginsengmask @melongorl @ilovetydollasign @pussylipgloss @boygirlparty and anyone else who wanna do it tbh

I have this problem with my powder highlight looking super powdery on my skin and not glowy/shiny at all! any tips or should I get a new highlighter?

You’re probably using the wrong highlight for the look you’re going for. When your highlight looks powdery or cakey it’s because you’re laying on more than you need to because you’re trying to get more of a glow. Your highlight could also look powdery because your foundation/base is too powdery/cakey, so keep that in mind! Also, going for a highlight a shade or two lighter than your own skin tone will give the most pop. Typically more pearlescent, creamy shades will be the most noticeable on the skin as opposed to beige and golden highlights.

For a highlight with a high shine impact try

  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector $38 (in any formulation)
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminators $28
  • Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders $38
  • ColourPop Highlighters $5
  • Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks $46
  • Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder $46
  • Benefit High Beam $26 (liquid)
  • Loreal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator $13

For an intense highlight you can do a few things

  • Use a cream or liquid highlighter. These never look powdery and can help your achieve that fresh, glowy look. Some highlights will look more wet, dewy while others will be more metallic.
  • Mist a setting spray or hydrating spray all over the skin or just in the areas you highlighted. The setting spray will wet the powder/cream to intensify that highlight. Think of it like using an eyeshadow wet!
  • Layer highlighters! Add a super glowy highlight right on the highest point of the cheek bones under your normal highlight. This is great if you want a glow but don’t want your whole cheek to be basically metallic. You’ll need a smaller, tapered brush to get the highlight right at the top of the cheekbones.

I generally don't wear foundation or anything on my face in the summer but I wanted to try out a primer I could wear on top of my lotion, any recommendations? I'd prefer drugstore but high end is fine as well. Thank you (:

Primers can actually improve the look and texture of your skin on it’s own without foundation! A great simple step to boost the look of your skin a bit and look more presentable without wearing any actual makeup, just slap some on and you’re out the door! You can even wear an oil controlling primer on it’s own if you have oily skin!

Check out primers like

Kiehls Micro Blur Skin Perfector $35. This will instantly help your pores look smaller and give you a smooth, flawless finish sans makeup! It’s ever so slightly tinted so give you a hint of coverage and color.

Loreal Magic Lumi Primer $10. This primer will add some life and light to your skin. It will make your skin glow and look more radiant and healthy!

Maybelline Baby Skin $6. Will smooth out your skin and pores to make your complexion look even that much better.

Chanel Le Blanc $45. Adds some luminosity and glow to dull skin.

Had to see what the hype was about these raves..

  • Revlon Colorstay Foundation
  • Revlon Colorstay Concealer/Corrector
  • L'oreal Lumi Foundation
  • L'oreal Lumi Concealer/Corrector

So far, I am really enjoying the L'Oreal Lumi foundation.  It gives me a nice dewy glow and has sheer coverage.  Very similar to a tinted moisturizer.  The concealer/corrector is great for brightening up under-eye circles but I don’t recommend using it as a concealer because the coverage and color is light. You don’t want to be using anything light to conceal blemishes.  Overall, this would be my go to foundation and corrector during days I don’t want to wear too much makeup.

Revlon Colorstay -  I have yet to test out this weekend.  Post will be updated later.

Stay beautiful people!

Hi! I've been really into that dewy look on my skin lately so I want to try some good quality highlighters or illuminators to give me that dewy, wet look. Can you recommend me some and also can you explain how i can get that wet look with my blushes too? Thank you :)

Hello :)

To get a more “wet look” i’d recommend using cream blushes and cream/liquid highlighters! They are more liquidy and wet so they won’t look like powder shimmer but more dewy, healthy skin!

Some cream blushes are still cream to powder so look for creamy, almost oily feeling cream blushes, any cream blush that’s too dry will just look like a powder.

Try wet cream blushes like

  • MAC Cremeblend Blushes
  • Stila Convertible Color
  • Josie Maran Coconut Water Color Cheek Gelee
  • NYX Rouge Cream Blush
  • ELF HD Cream Blush

Try wet liquid illuminators like

  • Loreal Magic Lumi Primer
  • NARS Liquid Illuminator in Copacabana
  • MAC Cream Color Bases (shell is a great one!)
  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (comes in pressed and liquid form, both great for a wet look!)
  • Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer
  •  NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator
  • Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator

To add to the “wet” look try adding a finishing spray like MAC Fix Plus! This will add some hydration as well as let the foundation settle into the skin looking more natural and dewy :)

Do you know any gel based foundations like the lancome teint miracle one maybe cheaper too?

Hello :)

Try foundations like YSL Touche Eclat Foundation, Loreal Magic Lumi Foundation, Loreal Visible Blur Foundation and Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Super Charged Foundation.

All these foundations have a super creamy, gel like texture that glide over the skin for super even and flawless results :)
