what other boxes do you know of than Random Fandom and Lootcrate, and what are your opinions on the various ones out there that you've had experience with?

For a break down of a bunch of geeky subscription boxes you can check out the list I made here: http://imgur.com/gallery/VAzNJ

Personally, I get Lootcrate, Nerd Block Classic, and Arcade Block. I’m doing a six month subscription right now to test them out. So far Lootcrate has been failing for me because I feel like the things in their boxes are cheaper and mostly junk. I’ve found a use for a lot more things out of the Nerd Block and Arcade Block and I’ve liked their shirts better overall too.

I find that you will probably be a lot more satisfied with subscription boxes if you have a super wide range of fandoms. For example, the Fantasy box from Lootcrate had stuff from D&D (shirt and bowtie), Game of Thrones (usb and magnets), Princess Bride (deck of cards), and Harry Potter (luggage tag). Plus a random blow up crown. For me, I don’t play D&D so those items were gone, and while I don’t mind GoT I’m not a huge fan so I won’t use the magnets (though usb’s are always useful). The deck of cards will sit on a shelf but will eventually be used, same with the Harry Potter luggage tag.

I probably won’t continue any of my subscriptions once they’re done since I seem to be putting more of the items into my ‘future giveaway stuff’ box than I am keeping things for myself. It’s just not worth it for me personally because while I have wide range of fandoms I know, I’m not in enough fandoms for these types of mishmash subscription boxes.

This is actually the reason I came up with the idea for the Random Fandom Box. The box has all merch from one single fandom so you know that you’re getting stuff from a fandom you like and not several different ones. I think it makes them much more worth it with the targeted fandoms and I hope people like the Zelda one once they’re shipped out!

fyi. the next Random Fandom Box is going to be Pokemon themed :) After that will be Harry Potter, then Avengers.
