looney tunes b ball

'Space Jam' sequel with LeBron James, 'Fast & Furious 6' director in development

“EW can confirm that NBA player LeBron James is in talks to [fill] Jordan’s legendary (and large!) shoes, while director Justin Lin (Star Trek Beyond, Fast & Furious 6) is in talks to helm the basketball-themed sequel.

The original 1996 film – which starred Jordan leading a team of Looney Tunes characters in a b-ball game against a group of overbearing, oddball aliens in a hybrid of animation and live-action styles – was a smash hit among both kid and adult audiences, earning $225 million worldwide.

And it seems that Space Jam 2 is being eyed as a project that could bring in major bucks for Warner Bros.: Lin has a proven track record of slick box office hits, and teaming with James – fresh off his success in last summer’s Trainwreck – could prove a winning combination.”
