This wasn’t some happy go luck episode, this wasn’t the sweet cool Starco episode everyone is trying to make it out to be or whatever. This was intense. This kid as been traveling and fighting for 16 years.
Marco traveled to every single dimension,(without sicors), He faced hundreds of monsters, he learned amazing things. He blew out every single flame of every single clone
Marco grew up guys. he grew UP. He built a life for himself. he lived for 16 years alone in the roughness of uncivilisation, with only himself to look out for. Constiantly tracking down clone after clone after clone. He becomes a warior.
And yet, when he arrives at her doorstep, he doesn’t attack her, and she doesn’t attack him. Infact, when he arrives, she’s already forming his scissors
She’s content, She’s plaesed. She has accept his work, and delcared him worthy of the responiblility of having dimensional siccors.
And marco has a similar reaction as well, he doesn’t immedetly take the scissors, doesn’t blow out her light as soon as possible. No, he sits down, gets comfy. he relaxs and tells his tales to her.
“you barley escaped me on the exploding flames of endor. And when I lost your trail in the mist of the never zone, I thought I’d never find you.”
They know eachother. This isn’t the first time he’s seen her. The REAL her since their first encounter when he was fourteen. They’e meet before, they’ve battled, and ran and talked formed an odd frenship out of their bond.
And then He rises to blows out her flame, and she lets him. She stands there, content as he softley, blows it out
“Not bad for a human. I underestmated you.”
And then, Star bust in….
And of cousre, Marco is happy to see her. He hasn’t seen her in over, and I’ll say it again, 16 years(reminder, normal people go to school for 12 years! First grade to senior. Marco has been working for those things, longs than the normal person goes to school.)
Now, I’m not here to go through this episode slide by slide, so lets move on. Marco finds out he’s only been gone from earth for 8 minutes, he get annoyed, ut then Star encourages him to come back home with her, so that everything can go back to normal.
Here’s the thing guys. Marco has spent the last 16 years matureing, fighting, living, He’s been spending the last 16 years BUILDING A LIFE. he doesn’t want to go back. he likes his life.
He likes the adventure, his sword and his dragon-motercikle pet thingy. The likes the life he’s build for himself here.
And this scares her. She pleads with him. BEGS him even. “But, what about your parents, your freinds….Me?” Star puts Marco in a position where he has to pick between his life, what he likes and her.
And here’s where this show gets really deep. he looks at his pet.
Guys you can feel that stabbing pain in your heart right? Right? Oh man and then he looks at
Hekapoo. This girl he’s chased for 16 years.
“Don’t look at me, those siccors are yours now…you can come back here, anytime you want.”
So he makes his decision
But before he goes, he bids them goodbye. He asks
to look after his pet. His one compainion on the road. And she agrees.
Then he turns to her. Like when he entered, he greets her like an old freind, because that’s who she is. She’s not someone he resents, She’s some one he trusts. Someone he has faith in and who he know he can depend on.
I mean, I’m sorry, but have you SEEN the way they’ve been looking at eachother this entire time? Their eyes, relaxed, smiles oh so small.Serriously, go back through the pictures I have here. you’ll see what I meant Mabye I’m crazy, but it almost seems like they’re in love.
ha hah hah just kidding…sort of.
Back to buisness.
Look at this. This is her thing. She’s been doing this to him since they first meet. It’s a way she “shows [her] affection” in the words of Toph
It’s what she does. He has something simillar to that as well
“Don’t call me that!”
They know eachother. They’ve know eachother for 16 years. They’ve been teasing eachother all that time while he’s been chasing her and she’s been slipping through his fingers. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like some wicked love story.
But it’s not, because she’s some, immotal being and he’s a human and he’s ment to be with Star…That’s fine. I get that but still!
I meanserriously, when Hekapoo creates siccors, she makes them individually for the owner, and look at marco’s
The blade’s are thick, and kind of resemble a sword, given how that’s the wepon he’s been using all this time, and it’s part of his pasword..but look at the that little flame where the blade conects to the handle? Doesn’t that look like her flame crown?
no, actually, it doesn’t. But it DOES look like her clone’s crowns. The clone’s he’s been chassing and fighting al these years. She placed a bit of herself in his siscores because she was that important to him. (or at least she was important to his mission)
Ok, Ok, Ok….now here’s
The most important stuff.
Marco is back in his 14 year old body. He’s back on earth’s time line, and Star thinks its all fine and dandy…but it’s not.
Marco isn’t the same guys. He’s been gone for 16 years. He’s 30 years old mentally. Watch as he takes in his room, observing it like some alein place.
And he walks over to his computer, almost scared to touch it. These last few years, Marco’s probablby survied off of whatever he could kill or make with his own two hands. This kind of advancement…it might make him feel uncomftorble, like he’s cheating at life.
“Password..? I don’t remember my password.”
For last 16 years, Marco has probabbly been sleepin gon rocks, on the ground in caves. watch how catius he is lowering himself onto his bed. After two years, most soilders in the army can’t handle sleeping on beds because they’re “too soft” Imagine how marco feels. I mean, his sandwitch is still warm, as if none of his life had ever happened
This isn’t some crazy Narnia junk where Pete, Edwin, Lucy and Susan half forget what their life was like in narnia when they de-age after walking through the wardrobe. Where they go back to being kids mentally as well, as though their entire adventure was a dream.
Marco remembers it all. And this is HUGE. The show brodened on that. they showefd how uncomftorble he looked as he stood in his room all alone, because it was essential to show the effects that were left on him.
This isn’t some happy Starco episode. this isn’t some cool ‘lets drool over adult marco’ episode either. This is some dark, bittersweet life. And you guys need to stop trying to weasle out of these facts.
To everyone supporting the pairing Dianakko, Diakko, Akkordian or just simply Akko x Diana, I have a message to you all.
I can’t see their bond being something other than love.
I can recall Dianakko fans both during the show airing and now after the finale say that the pairing is canon but in a ‘joking’ tone, as if they don’t truly think that. That Akko x Diana is just a headcanon.
That’s not how I feel. I’ve said it before:
So I must say, as a lesbian, the level of affection displayed by Diana and Akko is to me beyond than ‘just being friends’.
If anyone would carelessly throw themselves into danger to save me like Diana and Akko do for eachother;
if anyone would scream with a desperate worry for me like Diana and Akko do for eachother;
if anyone would keep looking at me with a look full of care and concern like how Akko and Diana look at eachother;
anyone would tell me to keep trying and chase my dreams, while grabbing
my hands and being moved to tears, like how Akko did to Diana;
anyone would tell me “You continue to astonish me in unexpected ways”
while them thinking about every time I’ve amazed and impressed them like
Diana did to Akko;
if anyone invited me on a broom like this
or if anyone looked at me like this before replying to my invititation;
if anyone would do such things like these, I would consider them loving me.
Of course, that’s was even before moments like these:
There’s a distinction I want to make. To me, a headcanon is a belief that you extrapolate from something within fiction. That you add something more and not taking it at face value. Like Croix only eating cup ramen is a headcanon. This is a belief extrapolated from the depiction of Croix eating cup noodles.
Headcanon pairings are then a belief that there is love between two characters extrapolated from their interactions. My personal examples would be Mabifica from Gravity Falls or Amedot when I watched Steven Universe. I wanted to see something more in between the lines of these characters’ interactions.
That’s not how I see Akko and Diana. When I see all their interactions in the show taken at face value, I still consider it love. Like all those interactions in my quote above, I define those actions as someone loving another.
I’m not extrapolating and adding something to make it true in my head.
The displays of affection shown between Diana and Akko
are within my definition of love.
And I want to make it abundantly clear that Dianakko is not a depiction of romantic love. They are not crushing on eachother. They don’t desire to kiss the other or otherwise be closely, physically intimate.
Their intimacy stretches to handholding to lovingly reassure or support the other.
If they have a crush on eachother, then it is just starting to develope (now that is a headcanon).
But neither is it a depiction of platonic love. I would rather say it is budding love. An example of that is Korrasami in The Legend of Korra. Korra and Asami slowly grew closer to each other during the series. They came to care deeply for the other person, while not really knowing ‘why’ other than that they ‘liked’ the other person. They eventually became the most important person to the other. Akko and Diana also had this kind of growth between them (though their depiction was more intense because Trigger takes things to 11).
I think some have a hard time to see these interactions Akko and Diana as love, just because this budding love is far more uncommon (especially between two girls) than romantic love. Two people having intense crushes with romance early on and then with time mellowing out a bit and then come to deeply care and have full trust for the other, is possibly the most common depiction of love. This budding love I’ve been speaking about has a different curve to it. It slowly builds up the care and trust first, and then eventually may bloom into more romantic feelings.
This leads to the main difference between Korrasami and Dianakko in the depiction of budding love. The Legend of Korra ended with Korra and Asami aware of their feelings for the other and deciding to see if it would bloom into something further. However, in LWA, Trigger decided to leave it more up in the air if Diana and Akko would eventually do the same.
Speaking of Trigger:
“the lwa creators don’t approve of diakko” moodboard
and the latest addition.
What does Trigger actually think of Akko x Diana? I have no clue.
They have constantly teased it outside of the series, and they have surely amped up Akko and Diana’s interactions in it. It is impossible to not tell how important Diana have become to Akko, and vice versa, during the story. Trigger could have toned down Diana’s role after her arc was over, but they decided not to. Diana didn’t need to hold the Shiny rod with Akko in episode 24. She didn’t have to be the only one together with Akko in space. She didn’t need to shoot Shiny Arc together with Akko. Diana didn’t need to be written in this way for Akko to complete her story arc. Yet Trigger did include Diana in the climax of the series. They have kept showing how important it is for Akko and Diana being together and acting as one.
However, if Akko and Diana’s interactions were only intended to be Dianakko fan baiting for “fanservice”, then I’ll just say, whoops you went too far. It got too genuine.
To finish off:
I’m fine with Trigger not showing any romance between Akko and Diana. Little Witch Academia isn’t about romance at its core. Their first kiss, having kids together, potential marriage etc. Those are things that can be headcanons. Even Akko and Diana becoming romantic can be headcanon. What I’m trying to argue is that they have a budding love for each other, that might become romantic, and that love is what could be considered canon.
I’m not fine with my view of Dianakko as two budding, potential lovers being called headcanon and thus invalidate what I consider to be love, when there’s nothing contradicting this view in the show itself. I’m not wrong to hold that stance. If my view is only based on what is depicted in the show, I won’t call it a headcanon.
So will I adamantly claim that Dianakko is definitive canon? No. Unless it would be confirmed.
However, I’ll refuse to call it a headcanon until Trigger does something that solidly confirms that it is.
To me, Akko x Diana is more than headcanon. And I don’t think it is wrong if any of you think so as well.
The mission was simple. Get into
the Galran ship, get prisoners and information then get out of there. A quick
grab and go. And that’s what it had been, but things turned downhill towards
the ‘go’ part.
Lance and Keith made there way
towards the prison bay being as quiet as possible. It had seemed the ships
security hadn’t been informed on their arrival and they could get in without a
problem. However, Lance’s thoughts rushed through his head as his boots tapped
against the rough surface of the hallway.
“This is too easy” Lance stated
as he looked around the empty hallways with a cautious eye.
“I agree maybe we should go back.
That sounds like a good idea” Hunk rushed out in the coms nervously as he sat
his lion fidgeting.
Keith looked towards Lance and
nodded in agreement to his statement. It was too easy. Usually each mission
resulted in some combat but so far, there had been none.
“Let’s just get this over with” Lance
stated before reaching the end of the hallway and standing in front of the door
to the prisoner bay.
“Can you open the door Pidge?”
“You got it!” Pidge replied in
the coms. The sounding of fast paced typing was heard then a satisfied click sounded. “It’s open.”
Keith pushed open the now
unlocked door and the two made there way inside with their weapons at the
ready. Once inside they looked at eachother confused. Keith spoke into the com
unit with a hint of caution. “Shiro. There’s no one here.”
As if on cue a yell filled the
room “Keith watch out!” As Lance lifted his bayard and shot towards a Galra sentry
that was going to shoot at Keith. Lance sighed before looking towards Keith and
grinned. “Watch your surroundings mullet.”
“Is everything okay?” Shiro’s
worried voice rung through their helmets.
“Ya what’s wrong? Is someone
hurt!?” Hunk said with fear
“Are you guys okay?” Pidge rushed
“Everything’s fine,” Keith
replied and heard sighs of relief from his helmet.
Keith gave Lance a smile before
motioning towards the door. “Lets meet up with the others.”
Lance grinned, “You got i-“ Before
he could finish his sentence there was a blooming pain in his head and the
world went dark.
“La-“ Keith shouted before a
sharp pain sprung in his neck and he was welcomed with the same darkness.
“They are taking way to long.” Hunk said with worry coating his voice.
“I agree with Hunk. They should
be back by now.” Pidge stated in agreement.
Silence coated the room as Shiro
tried their coms again and was greeted with static. “We need to go find them.”
“Leave the red one” A Galran
sentry stated as he motioned towards the unconscious red paladin.
The other Galra nodded before
handcuffing Lance’s hands together and picked up his unconscious form.
“Sir, why did he only want the
blue paladin?” The Galra holding Lance questioned.
“Because, Lotor wanted to destroy
Voltron from the inside out.” They then pointed towards Lance, “He wanted to
start with the heart.”
Because it is time to talk a bit about this character, Andrew Hanbridge. First things first:
I don’t dislike Andrew
I think he’s a decent character and have gotten better characterization after his first two appearances, but that he was implemented in a bad way and got put in a show where he wasn’t truly needed.
Because that is the thing, Andrew was introduced in the LWA series rather than in the OVAs.
A big appeal of Little Witch Academia’s OVAs for many people (myself included) was the fact that it had an all-girls cast. It is exceedingly rare for an anime to have an all-girls cast and to not be revolving around blatant ‘girly’ themes. Little Witch Academia is not inherently girly, it is just a bunch of teenage girls learning to become witches. By cutting away the boys, the series removed the need to include common teenage girl depiction tropes such as excessive focus on romance, boys, looks etc. Instead the series allows the different girls’ character traits and interests come to the fore.
However, with the introduction of Andrew in the series, Trigger regressed to rely on some of these clichés. In the first episode Andrew appears, all the students go gaga for this stoic, aloof guy solely because he is famous and rumoured to be handsome. So basically all the witch students of Luna Nova (except Lotte, Sucy and Diana) are shown to be gossipy, superficial teenage girls. This portrayal betrays the series earlier depiction of varied and multifaceted girl characters. If a pretty boy is around, then they get reduced to this one-dimensional clichéd stereotype. So the way Andrew was implemented into the series detracts from one of the strong points of the series.
What is Andrew’s role in the series? Reportedly, Trigger wanted him to be Akko’s connection to the ‘muggle’ world, so to speak. But personally, very seldom does he feel like he actually fulfils that purpose.
Instead, it feels like he mostly just behaves like a male ‘Diana’ and made to appear in scenarios where Diana couldn’t perform the same function. Both come from aristocratic families, both are well-spoken and rational-minded, both use careful rational rhetoric to solve problems and both of their character growths’ is because of them continually being amazed and inspired by Akko.
But why? Why would you keep around two characters that are so similar in personality and in character development (at least on paper)?
This is why Andrew being teased as a romantic interest to Akko feels like such a slap in the face to everyone who loved Akko and Diana’s chemistry already back in the OVAs. It makes it seem that Andrew wasn’t introduced despite Diana already existing, but because of it. Like Trigger wanted to cash in on Diana and Akko’s chemistry but turn it into something more ‘acceptable’ for the general audience.
But this is where Trigger confuses the hell out of me. If Andrew is the endgame romantic interest, why isn’t it more clearly established at this point? Why has there been so relatively little time for developing Akko and Andrew together then? Why did Trigger go full speed ahead to develope and show how much Akko and Diana deeply care for eachother rather than with Akko and Andrew instead? Why is there so much focus on and interaction between Akko and Diana in the openings, while Andrew is barely there and doesn’t appear together with Akko?
And to quote from this:
There is only one character holding hands with Akko in the OP. And that character isn’t Andrew.
Because there is one thing that makes me mad, and that is ‘Dianakko’ detractors that refuse to acknowledge Akko and Diana’s deeper connection.
However, some people will never accept two girl characters loving each other unless they are being intimately physically affectionate, like kissing eachother. Until they are, it can be handwaved away and be explained that they are just “Gal Pals”, “very good friends” and so on.
If we switched out Diana above for Andrew, so that Akko and Andrew had shared all those interactions, you would definitely see people claiming that they are in love based on those.
This is a double standard that is sadly very real in real life too. Girl-loving girls have to go great lengths for their love to be considered “real” in the eyes of some.
Something that made me feel like I had giant pit in my stomach
the time Episode 10 was released, was how some ‘Ankko’ posts included gifs like these:
What the actual fuck? These moments were somehow considered “sweet Ankko moments” by some fans. One shows Akko being hurt by Andrew, while the other show how Akko very uncomfortably gets forcibly pushed to the wall by a love-drugged Andrew.
Both of these moments made me feel highly uncomfortable and feel genuine distress for Akko in these situations when I watched them. Neither of these abusive moments should be considered sweet or romantic. It is not a good representation of ‘Ankko’ or even Andrew himself alone. And I feel I can’t take any criticism of Dianakko in any serious regard from anyone who did feel these moments were “romantic”.
For me, ‘Dianakko’ is not a case of fanservice, it is a matter of representation.
Either on purpose or by accident, Trigger has managed to write one of the most heartfelt and organic depictions in animation of two girls managing to put aside their vast differences and come to closely understand eachother through what at least I would describe as love. I don’t even ‘need’ A Big Damn Kiss or a dramatic declaration of love. I’d rather want an endingmore like the ending of The Legend of Korra, with Akko and Diana leaving together on a broom, to work on a shared future and a shared dream, with room for them growing further closer together and figure out what it means for them.Depictions of girls deeply caring
for each other
and slowly falling in love are rare outside shows not specifically focusing on girls’ love, thus I feel Diana and Akko are important.
I hope that Trigger soon either finally cements a final pairing and gently
lets one part down, or that there will be no
endgame romance. Trigger’s vagueness is just tiring at this point.
So I’m sorry Trigger and Andrew, but I’ve actually had enough of this dude.
A/n: this wasn’t requested, but after
watching last week episode this idea came to my mind. It’s not the best but I
hope you enjoy it! Remember to request something!

“Okay, we’re here, now what?” Theo asked
as he nervously looked around the area you three were currently at. You guys
decided to distract the ghost rider so they won’t take Scott and the others.
It was probably
a suicide mission, but you knew that you needed to save Stiles. Not only him,
but everyone who was taken by these monsters. You, Theo and Liam were standing
outside of the hospital since Liam said he knows where we can hide from them,
when they come to take us.Theo stared at Liam and he was about to answer when
he suddenly had an idea. He looked at the two of us and ran back to the cop car
and reached inside to turn the siren on. Theo eyes almost bulged from his head
and he ran towards Liam and yanked him from the vehicle.
“Are you crazy!
They will come right here for us!” He screamed at Liam, shoving him aside so he
can get in the car to turn the siren off. Liam held his arm and pulled him back
so he won’t go near the vehicle.
“That’s what we
have to do, dummy.” You said to Theo. “We lure them here, where they are far
away from Scott.” Theo stared at you and then back at Liam before he yanked his
arms from Liam’s grip and let out a sigh.
“I’m not doing
this for you two. If anything goes south, i’m saving myself.” Theo said through
gritted teeth, staring at you. You nod your head and walked passed him to get
inside. You couldn’t wait for this to be over with, so you can relax and forget
any of this happened. Once inside the hospital, you looked around to see if you
can find anything that can help you to prepare for what’s coming. You hear Theo
bickering with Liam as they walked inside, and you rolled your eyes at them.
Lol. Pardon my french here but… I get called an asshole and no offense right? Everything is fine
But I use the retard word and is like freaking disney droped the F bomb on a movie.
Guys lmfao, I’m from chile. My latinamerican fellas will understand here AND will back me up. We call eachother names all the time I guess the problem here, is how each country sees a word. Is a matter of culture.
Nobody, around here in this country finds any inch of offense in the that word some of you put in such high place like it’s a god you can’t look at.
Maybe tacos is an offensive word in… freaking… Qatar. And people there will look at you like the worst person ever like “DID YOU JUST CALL MY MOM TACOS?”
And hey! Is similar case here! We have WAY more tolerance towards these words.. oh excuse me, “OFFENSIVE WORDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!” Amd we call eachother that and other words that might be considered offensive and we don’t give a simple crap about it.
If by any chance your tolerance towards chilean people like me who treat words like these daily without any offense taken. Dude, wth man? I don’t have time to deal with your idiotic small brain that can’t process and or understand that there are people outside your country with different opinions on language….
Are you new to the internet? There are other countries aside from Muricaland, with people that think and speak differently. If you can’t respect that then at least have the decency to NOT call me an “ASSHOLE” for it. That’s a pretty strong word in the english language as far as I’m concerned. So… piss off will ya?
