look at that gut!

Every Little Grain (Salt in the Wounds)

I’ve collected all these tiny grains of salt over the years.
One grain for each lie you told.
You didn’t know it but they’re embedded here in my wounds.
This grain was from the time you told me you loved me.
This one from when you said she’s just a friend.
The time you told me it won’t happen again, there’s one in here for that lie too.
You thought I didn’t know about all this but I always find out the truth.
The salt always stung the worse when you denied your lies.
You didn’t even have the guts to look me in my eyes.

Nursemaid

(Jimin’s crush comes over to his house to help him out after he suffers an injury that leaves him with limited use of both hands.)

Warnings: 6000+ words of smut, Jimin POV, I’ll let you guess what kind of smut takes place

“I can’t believe you managed to injure both of your hands on the same day.” Hoseok’s girlfriend, Sophie, stifled a laugh while she said it. “I can’t tell if you are dumb or just unlucky.”

Jimin sighed.  He had been stupid and drunk when he and Jungkook went out into the street to play with fireworks.  One went off too close to his hand, burning his right palm requiring a trip to the emergency room where his injury was cleaned and bandaged.  The doctor gave him a lecture about drunk people and explosives and how fortunate he was not to have blasted off his fingers.

While exiting the hospital, Jimin immediately tripped over the curb and landed with his full weight onto his left hand resulting in a small fracture and return trip to the emergency room to get a splint to immobilize his other hand.   Now, every time Jimin saw someone, he had to suffer the embarrassment of explaining what happened. People had a hard time not laughing when they heard how he managed to get hurt twice in one day.

“Does it hurt much?” you asked him.

“Not really. As long as I don’t bump into anything or use my fingers too much, it’s okay.” At least you seemed to be genuinely concerned about his well-being. That’s one of the reasons Jimin liked you, you always seemed caring and sincere.  The other main reason he liked you was because he thought you were incredibly hot.  There were plenty of nights Jimin stayed up fantasizing about what it would feel like to be with you.  He wanted to ask you out, but had been waiting until there was some indication that you were even the slightest bit interested in him.  He was starting to think that maybe he had a chance with you, but he felt neutered with his injuries, unable to do things like casually touch you and see how you would respond to his advances.  Jimin resolved to make a move as soon as he had full use of his hands again.

He doesn’t remember what the fight is about, but he knows it’s petty. Something stupid that they both blew out of proportion.

“Do you ever just shut up!?” Keith yells, bringing a hand up to the bridge of his nose.

Lance folded his arms, “Do you ever stop saying stupid shit!?” he mocked, getting into Keith’s face with an angry step forward.

Berserk and Amon

Since :Re began (and even earlier, really), it feels like Ishida is making intentional references to the manga “Berserk” within Amon’s story arc. The most obvious evidence of all actually begins with Seidou…

Now, this gross meat pile isn’t only a meat pile. It looks really similar to the Behelit from Berserk.

Though Ishida could’ve simply been going for a horror element here, the meat that Amon was originally given to eat had no faces. It was just a pile of human meat that was successfully presented as horrifying without further visual impact. Furthermore, the Crimson Behelit offers the chance for one of Berserk’s main characters to leave his humanity behind in exchange for his flesh, blood, and family…and Seidou changed after consuming the meat he was given (implied to be the meat of his family members). The Behelit is active when its eyes are open, too, so it seems like this reference was probably intentional.

Of course, just one reference isn’t enough to build a theory off of. Fortunately, there are more! The gross meat pile makes its return in the latest chapter…

Though it no longer has the characteristic egg-shape. It is however, something that haunts Amon. It also looks like something that haunts Guts, a character with a lot of eery similarities to Amon.

The disgusting demon baby that follows Guts and Caska around is representative of his trauma, his guilt, and his fears. It isn’t harmful by itself and, at times, is actually helpful. This is well in-line with what human meat represents to Amon.

The demon baby is eventually consumed by a Behelit and is used to “change the world”, as per the wish of an (explicitly reference to be) empty man. Considering the context this image was brought up in, and keeping in mind Amon’s desire to change the world, it seems that this reference is intentional.

Still, more evidence is required before people can really start drawing parallels between Guts’ arc in Berserk and Amon’s in Tokyo Ghoul. Luckily for me, people have been speculating about their similarities for quite some time and so panels are easy to find.

1.
Both characters wield a frankly ridiculously huge weapon that they inherited from a friend. The weapon requires a massive amount of strength to use and is unique to them.

2.
They both lost an arm.

3.
The Arata armour looks almost exactly like Guts’ armour. Both sets of armour are taxing for their user to operate, but were necessary to fight enemies much stronger than themselves.

4.
They both wind up having the aesthetic of a “Dark Knight”. As a “knight”, they wind up saving young girls who later return the favour and help bring them down from a monstrous take-over by their armour without killing them.

(Amon rescues Saiko in full armour, ffs)

5.
Suffered a massive betrayal at the hands of a father figure. Killed many people for said father-figure (as children!!!!) and developed an obsession with perpetuating this cycle. Also: both orphans.

6.
A cross to bear ie. Amon’s cross and Guts’ mark (both on their necks, both meant to never let them escape from their past, both with massive religious connotations)

7.
Their whole look. The entire thing. Half-ghoul Amon looks so much like Guts.

There’s also the “near constant state of hatred towards a world they perceive as wrong” thing and the “fail to learn from their mistakes” thing and the “is basically no longer human” thing alongside the “awkward beautiful man who doesn’t know how to deal with women” thing.

TLDR: Guts and Amon share a lot of characteristics and this latest chapter brought it up again so I couldn’t help but make a compilation post.

every westallen scene ever (123/?)

so you fell asleep talking on the phone with me and
when I hang up I don’t realize I’ve pulled up his number until I look down again.
that’s what he is.
muscle memory.
gut reflex.
I’ve never mentioned it to you but I’m drawn to things that make me bleed and he’s got a box cutter heart.
i keep trying to claw my way back to him like it matters, still.
like I don’t have you to keep the darkness from getting in.
like I don’t have you to call me baby and text me good morning.
like I don’t have you at all.
so I’m sorry, in advance, for what this love could do to you.
i just don’t know how to stay when it doesn’t ache and
i don’t think you’ve ever hurt a goddamned thing in your life.

Here we go again..................

That MTV interview with the photographer was a well written piece of propaganda for “Bare with me”, basically saying that love is love, and it is beautiful in all forms. The stuff about Lauren and Lucy was all propaganda to prop up the narrative.

The photographer and the wardrobe lady were only saying what they were advised to say. LIES! (though the wardrobe lady decided to fuck the narrative a bit with the “sisterly and maternal connection”) Management did the same thing with DWTS. Val was advised to lie about when and where he had his first meet up with Normani for DWTS. They had been rehearsing for days before that Houston Rodeo, yet they wanted to push the narrative to the general public that the girls were in on the surprise, and helped introduce Mani to her dance partner. Why? To show how much they support her decision to do her own thing.

My point is, they (management) have no problem getting outside forces, other than the girls, to help sell their narrative. The ladies who did that photo-shoot with Lauren and Lucy are no different. Why have the photographer say what she said? They needed someone, other than Lauren or Lucy, to confirm that Laucy was real, to prove that Camren wasn’t. That one interview killed three birds with one stone. It confirmed Laucy, destroyed Camren, then destroyed Laucy, all at the same damn time. Brilliant actually.
