Steve glances up over his book at the sound of you entering the room.  He smiles.  “Hey, doll.”

You stop dead.  “You have got to be kidding me,” you mutter, taking him in.  He’s lounging back on the bed in nothing but a pair of low riding sweats. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, he was still growing out his beard.  And—God help you—he was wearing glasses.

“Goddamn it, Steve.”

Scott x Reader

Requested by Anon

Warnings: smutty themes

“What’s wrong with Scott.” You asked as you cornered Stiles, who was about to rush after the Alpha, who was storming through the school as if someone had angered him beyond reason.

“Urm, it’s complicated.” He muttered and Lydia glanced over Stiles’ shoulder.

“You can tell us Stiles, we might be able to help, he isn’t acting like himself.” She pointed out and Stiles nodded, taking a deep breath as he gave Scott one last glance.

“I think he might be in… heat?” Stiles muttered and your mouth dropped open until Lydia put her finger under your chin to close it.

“So, that’s why he threw Liam away from Malia this morning?” She asked and Stiles nodded. “And also, why he’s been avoiding (Y/N) … makes sense he’d be most drawn to the member of the pack who needs the most protection.”

“Hey!” You huffed and they both gave you a matching look.

“You are the weakest, you’re human.” Stiles pointed out.

“You’re also close with Scott but you’re close with other male werewolves, Liam, Brett, Derek and Isaac.” Lydia pointed out and Stiles took another turn.

“So basically, he’s probably finding it really difficult to be around you because he’s um… like I said possibly in heat.” Stiles muttered.

“That’s stupid, he’s a guy why would he be in heat.” You huffed.

“Reproducing would expand the pack faster, allows the Alpha to mark a mate without actually turning said mate into a werewolf and it’d give the alpha a chance to have some time with the betas and… strengthen their pack bond?” Lydia offered and you made a grossed-out noise.

“Rhetorical question Lydia, anyway I’ll just ask Scott what’s wrong and prove you both wrong.” You hummed.

“I don’t think you should.” Stiles muttered but you’d already ducked out of the corridor to where Scott had vanished.

“Scott?” You called and followed the low continues growl to a bathroom tucked away at the end of the corridor. “Scott, why’re you naked!” You squeaked and grabbed at his jeans, hoping if you handed them to him he’d get dressed as you tried not to look.

“I was too hot.” He mumbled roughly and moaned when you put a hand on his forehead.

“Maybe I should ask if I can give you a lift to the hospital… you can’t exactly ride your bike.” You mumbled, your eyes widening as he slowly slid your hand down his neck and across his stomach, letting you pull away before he could go any lower.

DA:I, companions and councillors reacting to the Inquisitor bringing home a crate fill of baby nugs, or mabaris, or your choice of small cutbaby animal. You guys do great work!

MABARI PUPPIES FOR ALL

Cassandra: “We don’t have time to…” She stops and stares at the yapping and waggling puppies, some of which are trying to reach her for attention. Her eyes widen, slightly, and she gingerly pulls one out of the box. After holding it for a moment, she sighs. “Alright, we can take them back to Skyhold to be given to some of Cullen’s men. This once.”

Blackwall: He lets out a hearty laugh and insists on carrying the crate. He plays with the puppies a lot, and is sad when they’re given up for adoption to other Inquisition members.

Iron Bull: “Oh, look at the little guys!” He grins and sits down, allowing the puppies to amble up to him, crawling up on him. “Look at them! Gonna grow up fierce as dragons!”

Sera: “PUPPIES!” she cries as she picks up a wiggling puppy to give it a hug and a kiss. “Look at their smooshy little faces! Can I have one?”

Varric: He grins. “Well, would you look at that?” He strokes their heads and watches them for awhile.

Cole: He loves them, because they’re happy and they make almost everyone who sees them happy. “They’re so happy. Everyone should have puppies. Maybe demons wouldn’t be demons if they had puppies.”

Dorian: He instantly smiles at the sight of them. “Well, what do we have here, Inquisitor? New recruits?” The puppies like him, a lot, much to his surprise.

Solas: He can’t help but crack a smile at the puppies. He can be found sitting and watching them with great interest.

Vivienne: She acts like she’s not interested, but the Inquisitor sees her eyes flicking over to them and her lips curling upward as they yap and just be adorable in general.

Josephine: She squeals in delight at the sight of them. “Ohhh, they’re so CUTE!” she exclaims as she hurries to greet them.

Leliana: She wishes she could spend all day with them, but she has to work. Later on, though, a scout finds her at her desk with a snoozing puppy on her lap.

Cullen: He’s at their side instantly, offering to help however they need. Dog food? A kennel? Anything so the puppies can stay. They seem to lessen the effects of his headaches.

Jimin x Reader

Warnings: SMUT, light choking, daddy kink, kinda public??, idk man it’s just filth

Word Count: 3,125

Summary:  Park fucking Jimin was sin incarnate, and he knew it too. You have had it with his extra ass on stage, he was always taking some article of clothing off and you were at your wits end. This means war.

A/N: This is my fic, I’m re-posting onto my sideblog.

Your jaw was on the floor after watching BTS’ new comeback stage. As if the low cut shirts, lip bites, sexual lyrics, and all around rudeness wasn’t enough, Jimin decided he needed to up the ante and undress on stage looking like sin itself. Fucker. He knew exactly what he was doing, and you decided he needed to be punished.

Dressing in all his favourites; your shorts, oversized sweater and thigh high socks that always got to him, you headed to the boys’ dorm for a movie night after making sure your coat covered everything. You arrived at the dorm quicker than anticipated, and after being let in by Hoseok and attacked by the boys with hugs, you learned that Jimin was still in the shower. Settling down on the couch you took your jacket off and got comfortable with a bowl of popcorn when you felt several pairs of eyes on you. Looking up, you saw the boys eying your outfit and you smiled to yourself, your plan already working. Jimin walked out of the shower with his hair still damp, wearing sweats and a loose t shirt. He looked around the room and noticed that all eyes were on you, a smile spreading on his face as he met your eyes, then he saw why they were staring and his face hardened.

Strike one.

Sterek "Are you trying to turn me on?" for the friends or more prompts, thank youu, love ur fics!! :)

Aww, thank you, nonnie! I hope you like it! (also on ao3!)

“Dude, are you trying to turn me on?”

Derek paused mid-sit up, his hands poised behind his head, fingers locked together, buried. in his sweat beaded hair. A tiny grunt of exertion died on his lips as he stopped, holding his position as he furrowed his brows and looked around the room.

It was a Friday afternoon in the middle of spring, rain beating a gentle staccato against the wall of windows, providing a soothing soundtrack for his workout regimen. With the full moon only a few days away, he was feeling a bit restless, an itch under his skin that he couldn’t scratch.

Usually, a run through the preserve would be enough to settle his nerves, the sun on his face and the wind in his hair never failing to soothe him, no matter the issue. Recently, the other members of the pack had taken to doing the same around the full moon, feeling the same restiveness and jittery uneasiness.

But with the rain showing no signs of stopping anytime soon, any hopes for a nice run through the woods were completely dashed. He knew firsthand how muddy the trails in the preserve good get and he would rather not get soaking wet.

So, he had decided to just work out at the loft, endeavoring to burn off his extra energy the only way he knew how. For hours he had been doing as many cardio exercises he could think of, from jumping rope to doing burpees, even jogging up and down the spiral staircase.

The result was a sheen of sweat over his body and a slight lessening of the pull of the approaching full moon, still feeling extremely restless no matter what he did, even when he began feeling the effects of exertion. He had switched to less grueling exercises after awhile, finding a spot on the polished concrete floor to do sit ups on, the floor cool against his back.

He was only twenty sit ups in when Stiles asked his disarming question, freezing Derek in his tracks. Taken aback by the unexpected comment, Derek peered over at the human who was sitting cross-legged on the couch.

Stiles had shown up at the loft about an hour earlier with a backpack full of spiral notebooks and heavy textbooks and the beginnings of bags under his eyes. Derek had been in the middle of doing some squats when Stiles had let himself in with the spare key he had taken the liberty of making himself.

Uncharacteristically taciturn, Stiles had explained that for whatever reason he could not focus at home and really needed to study for his upcoming finals. He had dropped his bag on the couch as he made his way to the kitchen, helping himself to the fridge and grabbing a can of soda and some leftover pepperoni pizza.

Derek had just nodded, mostly to himself as Stiles had been busy raiding his kitchen, and told him to take as much time as he needed, launching right back into his workout. Stiles had sent him a grateful salute as he shuffled back over to the couch, plopping down beside his backpack and propping his feet up on the coffee table.

Now, Derek peered over at Stiles who had his nose buried in his psychology textbook, alternating between nibbling his lower lip and gnawing on the end of a hot pink highlighter. He seemed perfectly nonplussed, occasionally scribbling something in the margins of his textbook, squinting down at the various charts and graphs on the page.

If Derek had not heard the unexpected question himself, he wouldn’t have believed that Stiles had actually said anything at all, the human not showing any signs of having said a single word. But he had heard it and he certainly wasn’t going to let it go unnoticed.

Y'all probably don't care but let me tell you what my favorite Lucifer scene is

Let’s set the stage: 2x12, Love Handles, a legendary deckerstar™ episode.

Lucifer lounges in a circle with some drunk college girls. Chloe bursts in and Lucifer just, being the most adorable Devil, JUST FLIPS TO LOOK AT HER UPSIDE DOWN.

LOOK AT THIS FACE PEOPLE. THAT DEVIL IS WHIPPED.

THIS IS A GRADE A+ PUPPY FACE. He is honestly so excited to see her just look at his puppy eyes!!

AND THEN IT GETS BETTER BECAUSE OF THE FACE MAKES WHEN HE SITS UP. His puppy eyes just intensify and his lil’ smile drops off and lil’ worry lines just appear. HE JUST LOOKS SO UTTERLY ADORING.

AND THEN HIS LITTLE REASSURING BUT UNEASY GRIN HE GIVES CHLOE WHEN SHE STARTS TO YELL AT HIM.

I love this scene because of Lucifer’s precious silliness. He looks like a tiny five year old that just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar! His face is so PURE. HE’S JUST SO HAPPY AND GIDDY THAT HIS PRECIOUS SMOL HUMAN KISSED HIM THE NIGHT BEFORE AND HE DOESN’T KNOW WHAT IT MEANS BUT HE WANTS SO BADLY FOR IT TO BE FOR REAL.

But He’s Bully - Reggie Mantle

Anonymous said:

I was wondering if you could do one where Reggie is dating the reader and people keep like pestering her about it and asking why they’re dating and she keeps getting super annoyed because Reggie is super sweet to her.

“I still,” Jughead shook his head, “I just don’t get it.” You let out a groan as your friends continued to stare at you. You glanced over at Kevin who busied himself with his apple juice to ignore your gaze. He was the one that started all of this. You turned back to Jughead.

“There’s nothing get,” you said, picking at the food on your tray. Jughead let out a forced laugh and shook his head once more. You glanced up at him, trying to convey your annoyance.

“But he’s a bully, Y/N,” Jughead said, his voice a little louder than before. You saw Archie, the only one who had remained silent since the reveal, flinch at Jughead’s words.

“He’s not that bad Jughead. He’s slowly turning around.” Archie said, trying his best to defuse the situation. Jughead was as stubborn as ever. He was about to snap that the redhead when Betty rested a soft hand on his shoulder.

“There’s bad blood between you and Reggie but that doesn’t mean she can’t see good in him.” Jughead gave Betty a dramatic look.

“I’m not defending him Juggie,” Betty added, “he is horrible to you. I’m defending Y/N’s love life.” The blonde girl’s words seemed to relax Jughead a little. His gaze lifted from her face to yours once more, giving you an unreadable look.

“But what do you see in him?” Everyone head’s turned the direction of Kevin’s voice. You glared at him as Veronica made her way towards the lunch table.

“Why is everyone looking at Kevin like he kicked a puppy?” Veronica sat down next to you as she asked.

“Y/N is dating Reggie Mantle, Kevin was the weary messenger,” Jughead said grimly. Veronica’s hand rested against her chest as she turned to look at you. Shock rested on her features, with a hint of disappointment.

“The football player? He seemed sketchy to me,” Veronica said after calming down a bit; but now it was your turn to get mad. You let out a loud groan and sat up from the table. You grabbed the food tray and walked to drop it off. You pulled your phone out, clicking on the conversation you had with Reggie the night before.

you : Meet up?

Reggie :) : sure babe. lounge?

you : Sounds good. See you in a few.

You smiled down at your phone and walked in the direction of the lounge. The hallways are empty, it being lunch period. You sped over to the lounge door, gently pushing it open. The lights were off inside, but when you walked inside they turned on.

You smiled when you saw Reggie walk through the other entrance, across the room. You let out a giggle at the cliche scene as you both started to walk towards each other. You met in the middle of the room and you rested your head against his chest when he was close enough. His arms wrapped around you securely, holding you to his warmth.

“What’s up,” he asked after a moment. You just buried your face deeper into his chest, trying to block out the words of your friends. His arms tightened around you and he pressed his lips to the top of your head gently.

“My friends found out about us.” You felt Reggie’s shoulders sag a little. You pulled back, just enough to look into his soft brown eyes. “They didn’t react very well.”

“It doesn’t matter what they think,” Reggie said softly, “we are the only ones involved in this relationship. Our feelings are the only ones that matter.” His hand went to your cheek and caressed it softly. You leaned into his touch, smiling gently.

“That was very wise,” you teased and Reggie grinned.

“But it is odd,” you raised an eyebrow at his words, “someone like you, an amazing person, with someone like me. I’m very unworthy.” You laughed and shook your head.

“You’re pretty amazing yourself Mantle,” he smiled at your words.

You held his gaze for a silent moment. You had started not too long ago, so only kisses on the cheek had been exchanged thus far. With this closeness, you didn’t know how long you could last without knowing how his lips tasted. It seemed Reggie couldn’t wait too long either as his gaze shifted down to your lips and back to your eyes, his gaze conveying a question. You nodded and leaned up on your tippy toes, softly brushing your lips to his. Reggie pressed tentatively, but then kissed you sweetly. His finger tips went to your jaw line, slightly under your chin to draw you closer. His lips parted against yours to speak.

“Yeah,” he mumbled, “your friends can-” You cut off his sentence with another kiss. As soon as your pressed your lips to his again, he started to laugh. You giggled, pulling away smiling.

“You’re cute,” he said, smiling widely as you laughed. His hand, which still lingered on your face, caressed your cheek. You felt a hot blush rise to your face and your smile grew a little more. You opened your mouth to speak but the bell cut you off. You let out a groan and Reggie smiled gently.

“Until next time baby,” he said with a grin. Reggie leaned down and pressed a kiss to your cheek. He walked off towards the way he came and you left the lounge to head off to your next class. As you walked through the crowded halls, you bit your bottom lip to suppress another smile.

“You look happy,” you turned and saw Betty fall into step beside you. “Happier than before. Sorry about Jughead by the way.” You shook your head and let your smile show through.

“It’s fine,” you said, “I-uh, thought it over and I know that nothing will change the way I feel about Reggie. Not even your sleuth boyfriend.” Betty smiled and blushed at your words.

“I’m glad you’re happy Y/N.” You nodded and glanced around the hallway. Your eyes landed on Reggie, talking to Archie at his locker. He glanced up, holding your gaze with a smile. You smiled back at your boyfriend, replaying your shared moments in your head. Archie looked up, saw you and looked back at Reggie with a grin. So what if some of your friends were against you and Reggie? Like Betty said, you were happy and that’s all that mattered.

Before the Sun Is In the Sky - Lin Manuel Miranda X Reader

Pairing: Lin Manuel Miranda x Reader

Summary: You’re a sleep deprived third-year resident at the hospital and you’ve been assigned to the ER where a disheveled Lin comes in after a kitchen mishap.

Warnings: Blood, needles, cursing. I think that’s it?

Word Count: 3,132 (Yiiiikes.)

A/N: So I haven’t written in a long while, so it’s hella rusty and I’m sorry for this trash. This is my first fic in a long ass time. It was initially gonna be a one shot, but then I started rambling and well, it’s dumb. ANYWAY. Have fun with this garbage. Let me know what y'all think and maybe I’ll write more. Who knows.

SIDE NOTE: Thanks to @ourforgottenboleros for editing and being the sweetest pal ever. GO READ HER STUFF ‘CAUSE BECCA INSPIRED ME TO WRITE AGAIN AND HONESTLY I’M FLUSTERED BC OF HER WORK, SO YEAH.

You were four hours past the end of your shift at Columbia University Hospital and you’d been sleep deprived for a little over two days. It wasn’t like you had a right to kick yourself in the ass for being so exhausted because you intentionally signed up for this. Four years at Tufts, another four at Cornell, you weren’t about to throw it all away just because you were tired. It was part of the job. As a third-year resident, you should be used to it by now – and sure, you were, but you were human and sleep was still precious.

It was almost 4 in the morning and you were making your last round in the pit before calling it a night. The ER was oddly silent in a city that never sleeps, but still, you were beyond grateful for the silent reprieve, no matter how momentary.

“Doctor Y/N, there’s a minor laceration that just got assigned to Room 17,” a nurse called out from behind the station. “He was the last patient out there.”

You groaned to yourself, almost wanting to admit defeat. You didn’t want to go check up on someone that was most likely inebriated to the point where impulse and clumsiness overpowered all logic and balance. The guy probably had some superficial injury that could be patched up with some antibacterial cream and a Spider-Man band aid.

“Thanks, Erica,” you replied as you stifled a yawn that’s been trying to escape for the past six hours. “Stats and everything uploaded to the database?”

Erica nodded and smiled at you sympathetically, knowing full well how much you just wanted to go home, take off everything, and climb into bed for just five hours before it was time to start again.

Room 17, you thought to yourself as your feet subconsciously brought you to the back hallway of the emergency room, tablet in tow. After a brief overview of his stats, medical history, and a description of the wound, you quickly gave the door two knocks before entering the room. Pulling back the privacy curtain, you looked up from your tablet and smiled at a disheveled man with his hand wrapped in a bloody hand towel.

“Hi, I’m Doctor Y/N, Mister… Lin-Manuel.” You smiled as you set down the tablet and approached him.

“You can just call me Lin,” he replied as he tried to wave at you with his cut hand, pain suddenly reminding him of his early morning mistake. “Oh duh, so stupid.”

You bit your cheek to keep the snicker that was quickly rising up and grabbed a pair of latex gloves and put them on.

“Alright, so what happened?” Reaching out for his hand, you gingerly hold it and remove the towel, exposing a three inch long slice on his left hand, starting from a centimeter above the base of his middle finger ending down by the outside curve of his palm. “Ahh, there it is.”

“Apple,” he started. “I was slicing an apple because eating it whole is just weird and it’s so much easier to eat it in slices, so that way I have free range with my hands to–”

You stopped him. “So you were slicing an apple on a cutting board and then this happened… to the inside of your palm?” That made no sense. If anything, he would’ve cut a finger or even the outside of his hand.

Shuffling over to the cabinet on the wall adjacent to the bed, you opened it up and grabbed gauze pads and saline solution.

“No, I was holding it. In my hand.” Lin looked you in the eye and then suddenly couldn’t make eye contact. There was a moment of hesitation and he brought his focus to the pulse oximeter still attached to his index finger. “Stupid, I know, but I wasn’t thinking. I had other things going on in my head and I got hungry, so I figured I’d cut up an apple and get back to writing.”

You made your way back over to him.

“I think a lesson was learned today,” you retorted with a smirk on your face as you began to clean the cut.

He winced and jerked his hand away just a bit. “Yeah, but it’s a setback now.”

You tried to clean the cut, but every time you put an ounce of pressure to the area, he seemed more and more uncomfortable. “Okay, I’m gonna numb this.”

“With a topical cream?” He asked with a raised brow, concern growing on his face.

“I could use a topical anesthetic, but when I stitch this up, you’ll probably feel a little more of the sutures than you’d like…”

You felt bad for him, you really did. His apparent uneasiness with needles on top of very obvious sleep deprivation (his eye bags looked worse than yours, dear Lord) made his big brown eyes grow wider and suddenly, they looked, for lack of a better term, helpless. That split second of fear and anxiety staring right back at you in the form of a puppy dog in a human’s body just sent your heart plummeting.

“Look, it’ll be quick. If anything, it’s a quick pinch here,” you pointed to the base of his finger, then the middle of his palm, and the edge of his hand. “There, and… right there. By the time it’s over, you’ll just feel pressure on it and it’s all done.” You flashed him a reassuring smile and shot him a look of ‘okay, let’s do it?’.

Lin audibly swallowed and nodded shaking. “I just… needles. Not too great with them.”

You headed towards the door and shot him yet another sympathetic grin. “I know, but it’ll help, I promise. I’ll be right back with what I need and we’ll get you stitched up and out of here, okay?”

“Sure, take your time, Doc.” He ran his free hand through his hair and let out a deep breath. “Please. Take your time. I need to mentally prepare for… this.” He gestured around the room and looked up at the ceiling.

You chuckled and shook your head. “You’ll be just fine.”

This was an everyday occurrence. Patients came in and out of the hospital, especially the pit where they were never anticipating to be. Patience and understanding were two traits that were necessary on the road to success as a doctor, so when it came to cases like this, the standard protocol was already second nature to you.

Once you had the required items, you took your tray and brought it back to his room. “Hey there, all set?”

A shaky breath escaped Lin’s lips and he shook his head again, clearly trying his hardest to smile. “Uh, no, but it needs to happen. I just… the blood, the stitches, my hand…”

“I’ll distract you,” you offered as you grabbed the stool and took a seat next to the bed. “Okay, put your hand up here and tell me about what you were working on.” Fingers in place in the new pair of gloves, you took the syringe and popped off the top before beginning to administer the anesthesia.

He gasped audibly, prompting you to stop to give him a few more moments of preparation. “Shit, that’s a big needle.” His eyes widened at the sight of the bevel that was a hairline away from his gaping wound.

It was a short gauge, a whopping 26 millimeters from the tip to the hub, barely a millimeter longer than a typical 25-gauge butterfly. A baby’s pinky finger was longer.

“Shh, shh, don’t look,” you told him calmly in an attempt to reassure him. “Close your eyes, Lin. It’s okay. Breathe in, breathe out.” A comforting smile grew across your face as you coaxed him to relax. “So tell me, what’s that thing you were working on?”

“A musical.” He exhaled a shaky breath as he squeezed his eyes shut, his free hand visibly trembling as he brought it up to further cover his face, as if shielding himself from the entire ordeal would make it all go away. You started to administer the anesthesia one more time, working as lightly as you possibly could. “It’s a fuzzy idea I had one day and it just sort of – ow! Sorry, I – ah! Fuck! Damn it! I’m gonna – oh God, I’m gonna puke…”

“It’s over, it’s over, no more pain.” You gazed into his eyes as a smile tugged on the corners of your lips. “Also, no more sensation because you’ll be numb for a few hours.”

He cautiously opened his eyes and looked back at you, chest rising and falling as if he’d sprinted up six flights of stairs, a slight grin of relief reciprocating your own. “God, that was horrible.”

You couldn’t help but giggle a little. There was something entrancing about his personality, and honestly, him being your (hopefully) last patient almost made it worthwhile.

“You’re fine. I’ll get it all stitched and you can go back home to work on that musical, alright? Tell me all about it.” Suture in hand, you began to close up his wound, stealing glimpses of him every now and then to ensure he was comfortable.

“You know the dude on the ten-dollar bill? Well, he’s got a wild story from start to finish.”

“Alexander Hamilton? That guy?”

He opened up his eyes and looked at you as you met his gaze with a quizzical look. With pursed lips, he nodded as if to say, ‘Yeahhhh, crazy.’

A musical. About some old man on the ten spot. Who in the world would do such a thing? Of course, you weren’t about to burst his bubble, especially since he was slowly but surely calming down. And plus, it was mesmerizing just listening to him ramble on.

You were about a third of the way through and despite your desperation for rest (and a bagel – dear God, you were starving), conversing with this sleep deprived, clumsy playwright-slash-musician somehow made tonight much more entertaining – which was odd because your definition of ‘entertaining’ was scrubbing in on a coronary artery bypass graft. But regardless, something about this man made you want to slow down and take your time instead of rushing him out the door.

“So what’s so special about Mr. Ten Dollar bill?” You pulled the suture through and tied a knot, moving languidly to prolong the moment.

“Everything,” he answered, accidentally moving his wounded hand to further emphasize his reply.

You instinctively grabbed him by the wrist to steady his hand.

“Yikes! Sorry, sorry, I forgot…”

With a laugh, you breathed a sigh of relief, worried some freak accident would’ve occurred had you not been quick on your feet – well, hands. “No no, it’s all good. Keep going.”

“Uh, where was I– Right, so he was just some washed up orphan, tough life, big dreams, some victories, huge mistake…”

Stitch upon stitch, you listened intently, finding yourself upstaging Mona Lisa’s smirk with your own because no matter how monotonous this procedure was, you were actually really into it. The conversation, that was, and you just kind of, sort of, maybe, perhaps didn’t want it to end.

Eventually, he wasn’t as nervous as he was when he first arrived and the conversation went from distraction to legitimate socialization.

Suddenly, his voice trailed off.

“This is probably boring to you. You don’t wanna hear about this. You probably have people talking your ear off every day. I’m sorry.” Lin gave you an apologetic smile. “You must be tired of me already.”

You look up at him and shrug, the faintest smile gracing your face. “I mean, it sounded ridiculous at first, but the more you talked about it, the more I wanted to know.”

“Don’t patronize me, it’s okay.” A grin tugged at his lips. “I’m sure you wanted silence.”

Honestly, he was partially right. You wanted nothing more than to drown out the melodies of the hustling, bustling city you called home. There was not a more arousing thought than silence. (That was sad. You were turned on by silence.)

But that was before this patient swept you up in the excitement of the story of Mr. Ten Bucks. And suddenly, you were okay with hearing him drone on and on.

With a shake of your head, you smiled up at him. “I was actually enjoying the conversation.”

“Well anyway, that’s the gist of it. I’ll spare you of the rest of my commentary.” He shot you a sheepish smile and laughed under his breath. “Weird concept, huh?”

“I dig it!” you replied with an enthusiastic nod. Sure, it sounded absurd, but the way he described it to you made it seem like brilliance was brewing. “I want tickets to the show when it’s done. Front and center. I’m gonna be like, ‘Yeah, I fixed up his hand!’

A laugh fell from his lips and he met your eyes. “You’re cute, Doc.”

Oh, there you went with the blushing. You felt the heat radiating from your cheeks and you broke away from his gaze, fearing your quickly reddening face would be noticed. Eyes focused on the task still at hand, you continued to close up the wound.

“I lucked out here in the ER.”

You could practically feel his eyes still on you, and the silly grin on his face made your cheeks flame up even more.

“Look!” You gesticulated a mock presentation of his newly stitched up hand and flashed him your pearly whites, trying to change the subject. “Not bad at all, right?”

He brought his hand up closer to his face and examined it with fascination mixed with a twinge of disgust. “How Frankenstein’s monster-esque.”

You reached out for his hand after giving him a few moments to gawk at it and started to wrap it up with the roll of gauze, finishing it up with a knot. Cleaning up your station, you watched Lin’s reaction and couldn’t help but laugh a little. What a relief, you were finally done.

“It’s shouldn’t scar though, so if you were worried about having aesthetically pleasing hands, those stitches won’t hinder you from pursuing a hand modeling career.”

“Thank you,” he said with a sincere smile. “This was a surprisingly positive experience for me.”

“Well, it was my pleasure. And thank you for educating me on America’s history.”

“It was my pleasure educating a beautiful doctor who won’t, in any way, shape, or form, have any use of her new knowledge of America’s boastful founding father.”

Damn him, he was too charming. Those mesmerizing eyes, tousled dark locks, it almost seemed like he was flirting – No, stop it. You’re exhausted. That’s all it was. Exhaustion. Delusion.

A yawn was making its way out of your mouth and you couldn’t help but let it out and stretch along with it.

“Early shift, huh?” He asked, the grin on his face unwavering. “I get that.”

“Actually, I’m on my way out.”

Saying those words lifted the weight off your shoulders, the contours of your body already feeling the warmth of your bed, your head already sensing the softness of your pillow, your mind already imagining the sensation of rest.

His face fell and his cheeks turned a bright shade of red. “Oh God, and here I was, talking your ear off for about an hour and–”

“Don’t even worry about it!” You waved him off and shook your head fervently. “It’s my job. I chose this life. It’s not your fault.”

“I’m so sorry, I didn’t know. I would’ve just kept my mouth shut had I known.”

“Please don’t feel bad, I’m totally fine. It’s okay, I promise!” You pulled the gloves off your hand and threw them away before putting a hand on his shoulder in an attempt to assuage his worries. “Let me just slide out of here to write you a prescription and you can go home, okay?”

He nodded wordlessly and watched you walk out of the room.

A quick note on the pad and a grab of a handful of gauze and antibacterial cream later, you made your way back into Room 17.

“I’m ba-ack.” You sang as you swung open the door. “Okay, this is for 800 milligram Ibuprofen for pain if need be, and here are some supplies to keep that cut clean and covered, okay?”

There was a brief moment of quiet between the two of you.

He broke the silence.

“Have you had breakfast yet?”

“No,” you shrugged. “I was gonna tackle that issue after work.”

“Can I take you to breakfast?” He asked without missing a beat, cocking his head slightly to the side, eagerly anticipating your response.

What. That was not something you could do. Doctors were not to affiliate themselves with patients they’re currently treating outside of medical reasons.

Wait a damn minute. He was flirting. And you, stupid you, chalked it all up to merely hallucinating because you were so sleep deprived but –

“Sure,” you replied with a quick nod and a bashful smile plastered on your face, your mind not even comprehending that your mouth decided it was best to jump the gun. “I’d like that.”

And plus, technically, you weren’t even treating him anymore. Your job was done. You patched him up, told him how to care for it, and sent him on his way. His primary care physician was in charge of the follow-up. You were in the clear.

“I’m glad,” he stood up from the bed and grabbed the supplies you gave him and stuffed them in his front pocket. “Should I just… wait in the lobby then?”

“Um, well, the nurse will come in with your discharge papers and he’ll go over what the next few weeks are gonna be like. The game plan for your hand and what not. That should give me enough time to head downstairs to change really quickly and I’ll meet you back up here. Is that okay?”

Lin grinned at you. “Absolutely. I can’t wait.”

And with that, you hurriedly walked towards the elevators and rushed to down to the resident lockers. You frantically stripped yourself of forty-one hours’ worth of stress, sweat, blood, and other bodily fluids and changed into comfy leggings, a black tank top, and a flannel to tie it all together. Messenger bag slung over your shoulder and across your body, you approached the mirror hung behind the door, examining your hair, ensuring you were, at the very least, presentable at this point.

Well, you thought to yourself. This’ll have to do.

You met back up with Lin in Room 17, peeking your head through the door with a faint smile. “Hey, all done?”

“All done,” he replied with a nod. “Ready?”

As I’ll ever be, you thought. “Ready.”

“I can’t believe you skipped school! Again!” your mother yelled furiously as she paced back and forth in the living room; she was fuming. Your eyes were focused on a loose thread on your carpet, hands behind your back. After promising not to skip school, here you stood, getting your ass scolded.

You didn’t know how your mother put up with your antics, and truth be told you commended her patience and the fact that she still loved you after all that. It’s not that you were a bad person. It was just that, you could say you didn’t like living by the norms. Thus, that made you a very rebellious teen. Despite the young of your age you’ve lost count of the many rebellious things you’ve done; you still vividly remembered that one time you took a train to Busan all by yourself without any notice.

I felt arms wrap around my middle and breath fan across my neck and froze up. “I know your very busy. I know your works important.” I heard Anthony sing loudly behind me. I laughed at his childishness and pushed his hands off of my middle.

“Damn right it’s important. If I don’t fix this light you won’t have your precious spotlight.” I snarked back. I went back to work on fixing the wires in the back of one of the main lights. I had been with the Hamilton production from the beginning and worked as maintenance on the set. I had gotten to know a lot of people on the cast, Anthony included, and had become pretty close to all of them.

“You work too much. The cast wanted to know if you would go out for dinner with us tonight.” He practically begged. I had a lot of reasons to go but all of those paled in comparison to the one reason I shouldn’t go. Daveed Diggs would be there. My best friend of 4 months would be there and I had been systematically avoiding him for 2 weeks successfully.

“I have to go out that night. I am sorry.” I lied without a second thought. I looked over to him and saw him glaring at me. I raised my eyebrows in confusion.

“You can’t avoid him forever Y/N.” He stated with a harsh tone. I sputtered in shock and confusion. How did he find out it was Daveed I was avoiding? He rolled his eyes at me. “It’s not that hard to notice that you’re avoiding him. Every time he walks into the room you walk out. Every time you find out he is going somewhere with the group you say you have somewhere else to be.“ He started pacing back and forth on the floor in front of me. “The one thing I can’t figure out is why. Why are you avoiding him? Things were going great before. He is a mess now. He is asking everyone what he did wrong. I just don’t –“

“I like him.” I blurted out accidently cutting him off. Somewhere in the middle of all this his words had gotten to me. Was Daveed really upset?

“You what?!?” My head snapped up and I met Anthony’s wide eyes. “Why have you been avoiding him then?” His gaze softened as my bottom lip trembled so he stepped forward to pull me into a hug and coo gently in my ear.

“I- I shouldn’t like him Anthony he is my best friend. I can’t tell him how I feel but I can’t act like we are just friends.” I said shrugging away from him and wiping me cheeks before I grabbed my tools and went back to working on the light. “I just got to push him away a little bit.”

“No. Y/N you can’t do that. He is walking around like someone kicked his puppy.”

“I have to.”

Nervous. That is the only emotion that could remotely describe how I was feeling about this situation. Daveed had stopped me from leaving the commons room when he enter and had pulled me to sit with him. He looked determined to talk to me and I didn’t want to upset him.

“What did I do?” He asked serenely.

“What are you talking about?” I asked back innocently, looking at my feet and refusing to meet his eyes.

“You have been avoiding me.” He stated.

“No I haven’t”

His composure broke. “Dammit Y/N what are you 5? You have been avoiding me and I have no idea why. What did I do? I can’t fix anything if I don’t know what it is.” He said raising his voice in frustration and anger with each word. My face heated up and I felt sick to my stomach. His face dropped and his eyes stared at me. He looked so upset and I didn’t know what to do.

“I- I don’t know what –“I started not sure exactly what I was going to say before I was interrupted.

“YOU KNOW HE HAS A CRUSH ON YOU RIGHT?” Lin came in from the dressing rooms shouting with a frustrated look on his face and a flustered Anthony running after him.

“GOD DAMMIT LIN SHUT YOUR MOUTH AND LET THEM WORK EVERYTHING OUT THEMSELVES.” Anthony shouted and practically grabbed Lin in a head lock to started pulling him back down the hallway. Lin was trying his best to get out of Anthony’s hold him as they scuffled back down the hallway.

Daveed and I sat there in shock and stared after them before I began laughing. I heard Daveed begin laughing next to me. Before long we were practically using each other as support in order to stay up right as we continued laughing. When we calmed down I finally regained my breath I looked at Daveed. That’s when it clicked. DID LIN JUST SAY DAVEED LIKED ME? My eyes widened looking at him and he seemed to have the same realization as his face turned red and he began looking at the floor.

“I- I won’t deny what Lin said. I u-understand if this it confusing for – well may not I mean I figured you knew because – well you kept avoiding so you must have figured it out. I – don’t – I just- .” He said and became increasingly flustered when I didn’t respond.

I grabbed his chin and brought his face up to mine so I could smash my lips to his. He froze for a second in shock before grabbing my waist and pulling me closer until I was practically on his lap. We broke apart after a minute to stare at each other. “I like you too.” I smiled.

“Wow.” He said in shock before he rested his head on my shoulder and breathed a sigh. “That was more straightforward than I thought it would be.”

“I think you have Lin to thank for that.”

“Yeah your right I am going to thank him and then beat his ass.” He grumbled as he fit his head between my shoulder and neck. “He could not possibly have known you liked me.”

OH. God. There was one way that Lin would have known. I jumped off Daveed’s lap. “I AM GOING TO KILL YOU ANTHONY RAMOS!!” I shouted towards the dressing rooms. I heard a girlish scream from the hallway and a scuffle of a few doors to tell me that Anthony had fled.

“What’s that noise?” Derek asked when the two of you settled down for the night, Derek’s arm slung over the back of the sofa while a puppy balanced on his shoulder and another snored in your lap.

“What noise?” You asked a little too quickly and he looked at you with suspicion.

“The noise that sounds like another puppy…” He trailed off as he got up, rousing the puppies as well as the older dog that was sleeping on the bed.

Unlike the puppies, the older dog simply gave him a look and went back to sleep. When Derek opened the large cupboard, he’d help you convert to a doggie den he found a new tiny puppy snuffling against a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel.

“(Y/N) …” He sighed although he didn’t sound angry. “I told you, no more pets.”

“I’m sorry, he’s the runt and they didn’t want him.” You sighed, smiling when Derek carefully lifted the pup into his hands.

“Promise me he’s the last one for a while, it’s going to be a lot of hard work… this one is littler than the others when you brought them home.” He said softly, humming to the tiny puppy who squeaked back.
