loneliness quotes

Lonely hearts have a tendency to stick their veins out, in hope of connecting to someone else’s blood vessels. The only problem is that the bearers of those hearts have reached a point where they feel like they don’t know how to do that anymore. They’ve been put down too many times, told that they’re abnormal so often, to the point of nearly believing it themselves. They tell themselves that they just aren’t meant to be around anyone else, that they were born to love infinitely and to never be loved the same.

When you find yourself thinking about the way things used to be, back when everything seemed to be on track, and then, you start to feel like you’re missing something again, remember that you have been in the presence of God the entire time.

If you thought you were in love, completely captivated by someone who made you feel like you were the only person in the world, and feeling like maybe, this is the one who can make you feel alive again, all along, it was the Lord who was actually breathing life into you. Whether the relationship spiraled into something beautiful or it fell apart, either way, God was with you, carrying you.

If you were finally content with your new city, your new job or something else, and then, plans were interrupted by unforeseen circumstances, God didn’t just appear when everything started to go south. He was there when things good and when things were great. He was there in every moment leading up to the tipping point and every moment after.

If you thought the year was off to a great start, and then, various circumstances started to interfere with your plans, God was and is still in your midst. Leading and guiding you.

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love…” - Zephaniah 3:17

God isn’t just in your midst when things are terrible nor just when things are great. He is there all the time. And the more you begin to embrace this, the more you you will begin to embrace the reality that because of Him, you are never alone. No matter how left you side, no matter what opportunities have fallen out of your grip, and no matter what has broken your heart, your Father in Heaven loved you enough to make sure that you were never empty or alone. This is why He sent His son Jesus Christ, so that we could embrace this truth in our daily lives. This is why, through that relationship with Christ we have been given the Holy Spirit, so that we are more aware of His Presence being felt on a daily basis. You are never alone. God is always with you. Embrace His Presence through the good, bad, and loneliness.

It makes me cry, you see. Realising that only in the lonely moments, when I’m solely by myself, I’m truly happy. I feel alive. But I also feel alone. Abandoned. Thrown at the edge of the universe. I try to find comfort in my solitude and enjoy the things I love in quietness. And I face a world that would never accept me, that would never understand me. So I sin, craving this world to be my friend.
