Anyways I’ve been planning this for about a month but schools haard so the next few chapters (if there will be any) won’t be this clean (sorry!) BUT that shouldn’t take away from the story too too much!
From The Wind’s Twelve Quarters: Short Stories
by Ursula Le Guin
With a clamor of bells that set the swallows soaring, the Festival of Summer came to the
city Omelas, bright-towered by the sea. The rigging of the boats in harbor sparkled with flags. In
the streets between houses with red roofs and painted walls, between old moss-grown gardens
and under avenues of trees, past great parks and public buildings, processions moved. Some were
decorous: old people in long stiff robes of mauve and grey, grave master workmen, quiet, merry
women carrying their babies and chatting as they walked. In other streets the music beat faster, a
shimmering of gong and tambourine, and the people went dancing, the procession was a dance.
Children dodged in and out, their high calls rising like the swallows’ crossing flights, over the
music and the singing. All the processions wound towards the north side of the city, where on the
great water-meadow called the Green’ Fields boys and girls, naked in the bright air, with mudstained
feet and ankles and long, lithe arms, exercised their restive horses before the race. The
horses wore no gear at all but a halter without bit. Their manes were braided with streamers of
silver, gold, and green. They flared their nostrils and pranced and boasted to one another; they
were vastly excited, the horse being the only animal who has adopted our ceremonies as his own.
Far off to the north and west the mountains stood up half encircling Omelas on her bay. The air
of morning was so clear that the snow still crowning the Eighteen Peaks burned with white-gold
fire across the miles of sunlit air, under the dark blue of the sky. There was just enough wind to
make the banners that marked the racecourse snap and flutter now and then. In the silence of the
broad green meadows one could hear the music winding through the city streets, farther and
nearer and ever approaching, a cheerful faint sweetness of the air that from time to time trembled
and gathered together and broke out into the great joyous clanging of the bells.
“ Where do you think you’re going? “
” I really don’t want you hanging out with them. “
” Where have you been all night? “
” I think it would be a good idea to get tracking devices. “
” I’m putting cameras up all around the house for security. “
” Don’t leave the house with the pocket knife or mase. “
” I think we should get some better security. “
” I’m going to get us a dog for security purposes. “
” You really need to find better friends. “
” I don’t think your friends are really your friends. “
” Okay, call me as soon as you get there. “

” I don’t want you going anywhere with those people. “
” You aren’t aloud out past ten, you know that. “
” Hey, I don’t make the rules around here. “
” You should probably stay home with us tonight. “
” Why don’t you stay home and have some family time? “
” You missed family game night for that? “
” That’s the second time tonight you missed family game night? “
” I can’t believe you’re dissing us for your fake friends. “
” Hey, why don’t you come out and socialize with your family? “
” Look, I’m just worried about you is all. “
” You don’t want me to take you to school? “
” Where are you going? I can give you a ride. “
” You’re not allowed to go out without one of your brothers or sisters. “
” You can go as long as your brother/sister can go too. “
” I put double locks on all the windows in the house. “
” I think we should move to a nicer neighborhood. “
” I do not want you out driving at night. “
” I dont want anyone out while the storm is coming. “
” Remember to stay indoors when the storm comes. “
” We need to go over our fire escape route again. “
” You aren’t supposed to shower during storms, dear. “
” Are you feeling okay? Want me to draw you a bath? “
” You’re sick, just stay home today and rest. “
” I don’t want you to be home alone. “
” Would you like to come to work with me today? “

Before you read these moments from my life, I’d like to apologize for the language, but I’m trying to recall it from the exact detail.
During the months of June, July, and August, I spent many hot summers of my childhood at my Grandmother’s house further west on the island of Cape Breton. The forest was plentiful, the plains were a vibrant green, and my Grandmother’s house was a rickety old two-story that was built sometime in the 50’s and looked like it didn’t belong.
Request: A first time where he sneaks into your window late at night to meet you kinda thing (like maybe she calls him crying or has a nightmare)
A/N: Thank you for requesting! This was such a cute idea and I had fun writing it. Feel free to send in more :)

Eleven turns into midnight, then it’s one, and when you look at your phone again it’s four o’clock in the morning. You rub at your tired eyes, wincing at the sting that follows.
You were exhausted, but sleep wouldn’t come. Tossing and turning all night you finally gave up trying. Insomnia is something you’ve dealt with since you were younger. Some nights were easier than others. Not tonight. So here you were, sitting on your bed, knees pulled up to your chest, in the dark. Just three more hours and it’ll be time for school, you think with a sigh. Alex is the only one that knows how bad it gets and he’s told you to wake him up whenever it happens. But it made you feel bad waking him up, so you didn’t. Why make him suffer, too?
When you get to school it hits you all at once. A concerned look is on Alex’s face, but he doesn’t say anything. You feel like a zombie as you walk down the hallway to your locker. You ignore the stares you get from your fellow students. You’re sure that you look like a sleep deprived maniac.
“There’s my girl,” you hear from behind you. You turn, a smile tugging at your lips. It’s Jeff. “I waited for you in the- hey, whats wrong?”
Worry fills his voice, his eyes searching over you as if he’ll find something physically wrong. “You’re pale and your eyes are red and puffy. Is everything okay? Have you been crying? Did someone-” you chuckle and cover his mouth with your hand, cutting off his frantic worry. God, he’s so adorable. It was sweet how he got worried about you.
“I just didn’t get much sleep last night, that’s all,” you tell him removing your hand. “I’m okay.”
“Is it your insomnia?”
You’re taken back by his question. How did he… “How do you know about that?” You ask, brow raised.
He shrugs. “Alex told me.”
“I’m going to kick his ass,” you mutter with a yawn.
“I want to know these things about you,” Jeff says while taking your hand in his. “You’re my baby girl, and I want to help any way I can.”
You smile and wrap your arms around his neck while on your tiptoes, pulling his lips down to yours.
Later that night it happens again. You lay there this time, staring at the ceiling as frustrated tears poured down your face.
There’s a tapping at your bedroom window, and for a second you think that you might be hearing things from the lack of sleep, but then you hear your name too. Confused, you roll out of bed and quietly make your way over to window. A gasp leaves your lips when you push the curtain aside and look down.
You quickly unlock the window and push it open. “Jeff,” you whisper shout. You don’t want to wake up your dad. “What are you doing here?”
“Can I come up?” He shout whispers back.
You nod and watch as uses the tree to climb up to your window. You never realized how easy it would be for someone to get to your window with that tree. How convenient. After climbing in he closes the window and locks it. Then turns to you.
“Baby,” he says softly when he sees your tear streaked face. “What’s wrong?”
You sniffle. “I still can’t sleep.”
“Come on,” he takes your hand in his and walks over to your bed. You watch as he kicks off his shoes then pulls his black sweater over his head. Now, you’ve seen him shirtless before but never up close. He’s beautiful, to say the least. Chiseled to perfection. How could somebody be so damn perfect? Then he’s sliding his jeans down, leaving him in a pair of black briefs. He gives you a soft tug, bringing you to his chest. “Let me hold you.”
He lays down first, arms open and inviting. You crawl in next to him. Nuzzling his face into your neck he began to pepper light kisses on your neck and shoulder. He moves up and presses his lips to yours in a soft kiss. The kiss doesn’t last long, but your just as breathless.
“Thank you,” you whisper, lips brushing his as you spoke.
“Anytime you can’t sleep, call me,” he responds softly. “I’ll come hold you.”
You nod and lay your head on his chest. He begins playing with your hair, and soon you feel your eyes getting heavier and heavier by the second.
You end up falling asleep on his chest that night. Never tossing and turning, no waking up in the middle of the night.
As you fell asleep you told him you loved him. He wasn’t sure he heard you right, it came out so low. But you said it.
You don’t see Jeff’s reaction because you fall asleep quickly, having a real nights sleep for the first time in days.

Your Friday nights are usually
reserved for some time to yourself as you wind down from the school week.
Tonight you intend to binge on all the Star Wars in the spirit of the newest
one coming out in your closest budget theater. The plan is to finish the
prequels and then start the original trilogy. As the night passes by you finish
the prequels and you’re about to start the original movies when you decide to
get up and restock on snacks. When you return to your room with an armful of
popcorn and other junk-food you see the city’s favorite spandex wearing
So there’s this store of nick-nacks in the county side that has a room off to the side full of Christmas stuff, but also has a pink shed in it. The front door is locked but the window isn’t, so I decide to use the flash on my phone to take a picture of the inside. This is some @sixpenceee shit!
A/N: Here it is!! This was partially inspired by some requests I got for this, and partially inspired by my Heathers!AU with @memeing-through-a-window
“Hello everyone! To those of you who do not take drama as a class, I am Mr Reyes. I will be directing this production.” Mr Reyes said, and there was a spattering of applause across the auditorium.
“Now, I’m sure you’re all dying to find out your roles in our upcoming production of Heathers. Here we go.” Mr Reyes said, and everyone inhaled sharply.
I crossed my fingers and looked over at my best friend Zoe, her eyes shut tightly in anticipation.
“In the role of Martha Dunnstock, Alana Beck.” Mr Reyes said and we all clapped politely, looking at Alana who was smiling brightly.
“The role of Kurt Kelly goes to Jake Dillinger, and Ram Sweeney goes to Richard Goranski.” A celebratory whoop came from a few rows back, and I chuckled at the boys’ reaction.
“The roles of Mr Kelly and Mr Sweeney will go to Michael Mell and Jeremy Heere.” I smirked slightly, knowing that Mr Reyes was slightly sneaky with his casting of those roles.
“Mr and Mrs Sawyer will be played by Chloe Valentine and Brooke Lohst.” I clapped softly, glancing over at the pair.
“And now, onto the Heathers themselves. Due to the lack of women interested in this production, we have had to give some of our Heathers to the men.” Mr Reyes said, and I snorted, drawing some attention.
“Heather McNamara will be played by Evan Hansen, and Heather Duke will be played by Jared Kleinman. Heather Chandler, our only female Heather, will be played by Zoe Murphy.” Mr Reyes said, and I squeezed Zoe’s hand.
She was smiling widely, and I knew she was going to crush it as Heather Chandler.
“The lovely Christine Canigula will be playing Ms Fleming.” Christine beamed at Mr Reyes, and I felt very happy for her.
“This leaves our two leading roles. Jason Dean will be played by Connor Murphy, and Veronica Sawyer goes to Y/N Y/L/N! Congratulations to you all.” Mr Reyes said, and I looked over at Connor, my eyes wide.
I’d been crushing on Connor since freshman year of high school, and here we are, freshman year of college, and those feelings haven’t gone away.
“Now, rehearsals will start next Wednesday, so be ready. The original cast recording is somewhere online, so listen to it. That’s all.” Mr Reyes said, ushering us out of the auditorium.
As soon as we were out the double doors, I was bombarded with various congratulations.
“You’re so lucky, oh my god.” Zoe said, wrapping me in a side hug. I felt my cheeks go pink, and I smiled gratefully at her.
“Thanks. I do, however, have to have fake sex with your brother onstage. You know how I feel about him, Zo.” I said and Zoe cackled, throwing her head back.
“Well, let’s just say things might end up working out for you two.” She said, winking at me. My cheeks went a brighter pink, and I went to say something, but was interrupted by someone coughing.
I whirled around to see Connor standing there, his hair partially covering his face.
“Hey Y/N. Can I talk to you for a sec?” Connor asked and I nodded, glancing back briefly at Zoe.
Connor shot me a half smile, and walked away. I trailed behind him, jogging slightly.
“So, what’s up?” I asked, catching my breath a little. Connor rocked back and forth on his heels, and I frowned slightly.
“Well, I was just wondering, seeing as we’re going to be spending a lot of time together onstage and in rehearsals, if maybe you wanted to go grab some lunch with me?” Connor asked, wringing his hands together.
My cheeks went a bright shade of pink, and I nodded eagerly. “Absolutely. I mean, yeah, of course.” I said, realising I was probably coming on too strong.
“Awesome. I’ll, uh, meet you here at 12. Today.” Connor said and I smiled brightly at him. “Bye Y/N.” He said, and I waved him off.
“You guys are coming along incredibly. Everyone except Y/N and Connor can go.” Mr Reyes said, and I glanced over at Connor awkwardly.
Everyone else trailed out of the auditorium, until it was just Connor, Mr Reyes and I left.
“Now, I thought you two would appreciate not having everyone else in the room for this next song.” Mr Reyes said and I gulped, looking at Connor with wide eyes.
“I think you two both know which song I’m talking about. We won’t go through the full choreography just yet, but we still need to start rehearsing it.” Mr Reyes said, patting the both of us on the shoulder.
I took in a deep breath and walked up onto the stage, fidgeting with my blazer. I wasn’t in my proper costume, but I was wearing an outfit that resembled my costume.
“From the top, you two.” Mr Reyes said, pressing play on the music. It started playing and I bit my lip.
“The demon queen of high school has decreed it. She says Monday eight am, I’ll be deleted.” I sang, glancing over at Connor briefly.
“They’ll hunt me down in study hall. Stuff and mount me on the wall. Thirty hours to live, how shall I spend them?” I sang, walking forward a little.
“I don’t have to stay and die like cattle. I could change my name and ride up to Seattle. But I don’t own a motorbike.” I looked up at Connor, who was now lying down on the raised platform.
“Wait. Here’s an option that I like. Spend these thirty hours getting freaky! I need it hard, I’m a dead girl walking. I’m in your yard, I’m a dead girl walking.” I sang, walking up the platform stairs.
“Before they punch my clock, I’m snapping off your window lock. Got no time to knock, I’m a dead girl walking.” I sang, standing in front of Connor, who was now on his feet.
“Veronica. What are you doing in my room?” Connor asked, and I shushed him, waving my hand about wildly. Mr Reyes chuckled, and I took in a deep breath.
“Sorry, but I really had to wake you. See, I’ve decided I must ride you till I break you.” Connor’s eyes widened at this line, and Mr Reyes’ laughter increased.
“Heather says I gots to go, you’re my last meal on death row. Shut your mouth, and lose them tightie whities. C'mon!” I sang, undoing my blazer.
“Tonight I’m yours, I’m your dead girl walking. Get on all fours, kiss this dead girl walking.” I said, shoving Connor down by his shoulders.
“Let’s go, you know the drill. I’m hot, and pissed, and on the pill. Bow down to the will of a dead girl walking.” I sang, trying to keep my voice even as Connor’s hands crept up near the hem of my skirt.
I crouched down, looking Connor in the eye. I noticed that one of his eyes was coloured differently, and I felt my heart lurch.
“And you know, you know, you know. It’s cause you’re beautiful. You say you’re numb inside, but I can’t agree.” I sang, putting my hands on Connor’s chest.
His chest was surprisingly firm, and his face was rapidly reddening. “So the world’s unfair. Keep it locked out there. In here it’s beautiful. Let’s make this beautiful.”
“That works for me.” I pressed my lips to Connor’s, and kissed him with fervour. He kissed back eagerly, and I pulled off my blazer, still keeping our lips together.
I pulled off his shirt, and I let out a gasp at the sight of his bare chest. I pulled away from the kiss, and noticed Connor’s eyes cloud with something dark.
I pushed him down so he was on his back, and I was straddling him, my legs wrapped tightly around his waist.
I started kissing his neck and moved my lips further down his chest, kissing furiously.
“Yeah! Full steam ahead, take this dead girl walking.” I sang, reluctantly pulling away from Connor.
“How’d you find my address?” Connor sang, sitting up slightly.
“Let’s break the bed, rock this dead girl walking!” I sang, throwing my arms up in the air.
“I think we tore my mattress.” Connor sang, glancing towards the ground.
“No sleep tonight for you. Better chug that Mountain Dew.” I sang, getting a good look at Connor. His eyes wide, his cheeks flushed and his hair mused.
“Okay, okay.” He sang quietly, earning a chuckle from Mr Reyes.
“Get your ass in gear. Make this whole town disappear.”
“Okay, okay.” Connor sang, his voice stronger this time.
“Slap me.” Connor stage slapped me at this line, and my cheek tingled at the contact.
“Pull my hair.” Connor tugged my head back by my hair, and tangled his fingers in my hair.
“Touch me there, and there, and there.” My breath hitched as Connor’s hands roamed over my ass and breasts.
“No more talking. Love this dead girl walking.” I sang, hitting the high note with ease. Connor sang his part with ease, and I drank in the sight of him beneath me.
“Love this dead girl! Yeah, yeah, yeah!” We both sang together, our bodies harmonising perfectly.
“Ow!” Connor said, grimacing slightly.
“Yeah!” We both sang, and I was surprised at how well Connor could sing. The music concluded, and we were both panting.
Mr Reyes applauded, and I felt the heat rush to my cheeks. “Very well done, you two! You have excellent chemistry, I must say.” Mr Reyes said, as I awkwardly clambered off Connor.
We picked up our clothes and pulled them back on, smiling as we walked off the stage.
“I’ll see you at Friday’s rehearsal. I can’t stress how good that performance was, especially for a rehearsal.” Mr Reyes said as we left the auditorium.
The doors slammed shut behind us, and the air became thick with awkwardness. “I, uh.” I stammered, my cheeks burning.
“I’ll, um, see you on Friday.” Connor muttered, walking away quickly staring at the ground as he did.
“Opening night, people! I just wanted to congratulate you all on your work over the past couple of months, so, congratulations!” Mr Reyes said, applauding us.
I fidgeted anxiously with my costume, the indigo scarf I was wearing seeming to weigh a ton.
“Hey, Y/N, you ok?” Connor asked, and I turned on my heel to face him. The dark costume of JD suited him perfectly, and I felt seriously attracted to him.
“I’m really nervous. What if I screw up? What if I can’t hit one of the high notes? Ugh.” I said, running a hand through my hair.
“Hey, hey, look at me.” Connor said, placing his hands gently on my shoulders. I looked up at him, noticing the stage makeup that accented his already beautiful features.
“You are going to knock this out of the park. Your voice is absolutely stunning, and I have the utmost faith in you and your abilities.” Connor said, moving his hands from my shoulders to my cheeks.
I felt my cheeks flush, and I noticed Connor’s cheeks were a similar colour. “Thanks.” I muttered, looking right into Connor’s eyes.
He rubbed circles on my cheek with his thumb, and I took in a deep breath. I leaned forward and connected my lips with Connor’s.
His eyes widened briefly, but he closed them quickly, kissing back eagerly. I tangled my hands in Connor’s hair, tugging on it gently.
He let out a groan, and he moved his hands to my waist, pulling me closer to him. Suddenly we heard a cough and pulled apart, turning to see where the cough had come from.
We saw Zoe standing there in full costume, a smirk wide on her face. “God, Veronica, drool much?” She said and I snorted, glancing up at Connor.
“It’s not like I’m throwing my panties at him, Heather.” I said, and I noticed Connor freeze momentarily.
“Oh, but you will be soon enough.” Zoe said, winking at the two of us. She walked off with a perfected strut, and I let out a sigh.
“She’s the worst.” Connor muttered and I chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.
“She’s not that bad, Con.” I said, wrapping my arms around his neck.
“Oh, what fresh hell is that,” [Y/N] murmured under her breath as Peter drew out the schematics for her project. Raising a brow and tilting her head, she swore that Peter had just invented a new language. Running a hand through her hair, she shook her head. “I’m going to use the bathroom, I’ll be right back.” Picking herself up from Peter’s bedroom floor, she walked out the room.
“So, did you ask her yet?”
Peter yelped, jumping in his bones and then quickly turning towards his bedroom window to find Ned climbing through it. “Ned!? What the heck are you doing?!”
Nonchalantly, Ned struggled to get himself into his friend’s room. Cocking a brow, he motioned towards himself, “A little help would be nice.”
Unsure of what to do, Peter scrambled up from his spot on the floor and rushed to his friends aid. Yanking on him, he spoke low. “Seriously, dude, what are you doing here?!”
Ned snickered, “To make sure you don’t chicken out.”
Scrubbing his hands over his face, Peter groaned. “Why did you climb up the fire escape? Why not, I don’t know, ring the doorbell?”
Again, Ned snickered. “Would you have let me in? Besides, I know you don’t lock your window for quick Spidey emergencies.”
“Sh, sh, sh!” Peter growled. Now, he started to panic. “You need to leave,” pointing towards the cracked bedroom door, “[Y/N] will be back here any minute. What am I suppose to tell her when she finds you here? You can’t lie, you’ve almost told her I’m Spiderman on more than one occasions and I can’t lie to her because she knows I’m hiding something. And I definitely don’t want to ask her out with you standing here.”
Shrugging, Ned pondered. “Dunno.”
Smacking his forehead, “Oh god.”
“Hey, Peter? Can we switch it up and work on history? My brain hurts from all this engineer-” stopping mid sentence, she raised a brow at the sight of Peter and Ned awkwardly standing facing each other. “Ned? When did you get here?”
“Uh, just now!”
“Funny, I didn’t hear anyone knocking.” [Y/N] crossed her arms, her brow still raised. “What’s going on?”
Peter stumbled over his words, desperate to say something that wasn’t stupid. Ned on the other hand watched his friend walk himself in circles with sounds and noises that didn’t even sound human. Rolling his eyes, Ned patted Peter’s back hard.
“What Peter’s tryin’ to say is that he likes you, a lot. A lot, a lot. Way more then Liz and trust me when I say that because the kid was obsessed with Liz. I mean who isn’t though, you know? She’s hot and really smart,” Ned winced, “not, not that you aren’t hot or smart [Y/N]. I just mean like, Peter was just really-”
“-enough, dude.” Peter muttered, slightly humiliated.
[Y/N] crossed her arms, amused by Peter’s bright red cheeks. Trying to ignore the fact that her own face was flushing, she chuckled. “I see, and what was your purpose to crash our study session?”
Ned smiled brightly, “To make sure he didn’t mess it up!”
Nodding, “And you think he would have been worse at admitting his feelings than what you just said?”
“Uh,” Ned thought, frowning as he went over what he had said. Looking over at Peter who looked a cross between annoyed and embarrassed. “Sorry, bro….”
Peter hid his face with his hands, “It’s alright, buddy.”
[Y/N] sucked in air and let it all back out as she thought of what to say next. This wasn’t how she pictured her night with Peter going at all. They had spent the last few weeks getting to know each other and helplessly trying to get her to understand basic mechanical engineering fundamentals. “Ned, can you give us a moment?”
Ned bowing his head, sulked out of the room.
Smiling, [Y/N] lightly nudged Peter towards his bed. Sitting down next to each other, she chuckled at the obvious mortified expression. “So,”
“So.” He repeated under his breath.
Feeling her cheeks get red, she looked down at her hands and whispered. “If it helps any, I kind of, sort of, like you too.”
Snapping his head up, “What? You do?”
Nodding, “Yeah.” Giving Peter a sideways glance, she smiled. “I didn’t plan on it but you kind of crept up on me.”
Peter stared at [Y/N] with wide eyes and an open grin. He didn’t know what to say, all he wanted to do was do a happy dance and fist pump the air a few times but he knew that if he did that, it would be even more embarrassing than what Ned had just done.
Clearing his throat, Peter looked down at his hands. “What do we do now?”
Running her hands down her legs and then standing up, she motioned towards the books that laid sprawled on the floor. “Well, we should get back to studying-”
“-Lame!” Ned uttered as he walked into the room with his arms crossed.
[Y/N] gently rolled her eyes as she sat down on the floor. “Wanna let me finish, Ned?”
Annoyingly motioning her hands for her to do so, he huffed. Muttering some words under his breath about them being idiots for studying.
Turning to Peter, she smiled. “As I was saying, we should continue to study and once we both pass, then we can decide what we’re going to do for our first date.”
Peter smiled back, “Uh, yeah, definitely.”
“What?!” Ned exclaimed. Running a hand through his hair, he rose a brow. “What is wrong with you guys. You two basically professed your love and you’re going to focus on school?” Shaking his head, he groaned. “No, you two should be practicing kissing not practicing who took over Poland.”
Peter and [Y/N] exchanged looks before saying at the same time, “Get out, Ned.” Both of them laughed as he huffed and puffed out of Peter’s room.
As their laughter quieted down and they started to get back into the groove of where they were before Ned interrupted them, Peter piped up. “I’m not opposed to the kissing thing…”
Looking up from her history textbook, she quirked a brow. “How about this, if you ace your history test, I’ll consider it.”

Harry has lived in London for a month, and so far the only friend he’s made is his sister’s cat, Mr. Whiskers. When the lock on the window breaks, Mr. Whiskers begins exploring his new neighbourhood a bit too thoroughly and brings back mementos of his escapes.
Or a Valentine’s Day story where Harry has a really fit neighbour, and his cat is a thief.

I’d love to hear what you thought of the series as a whole and what I should/shouldn’t do in future series. I love you all. Special thanks to my babe, @sebbytrash, for reading through this for me. I love you.

When you awoke that Saturday afternoon, a mere three weeks since you met the life ruiner, Bucky Barnes, your heart literally hurt. Who were you to stop a wedding? You barely knew this guy. There was nothing you could do.
It’s been weeks since Betty and Jughead got together. It’s been weeks since you talked to Jughead as well. I’ve been avoiding him like the plague. I’ve been avoiding all of them really. Archie’s tried talking to me but after so many years of seeing it, wherever there’s Archie, Jughead isn’t far behind. So I did what I do best, ignore and run. Betty and Veronica have tried talking to me but they get the same response. The only one I haven’t ignored is Kevin Keller, my best friend.
“(Y/N), talk to them. They’re going crazy trying to find out why you’ve been avoiding them,“ Kevin stood by my locker giving me the same spiel he has been giving me the weeks I’ve been avoiding them.
“Kev, I’ve told you this many times before, no. And you know why so don’t bother asking,“ I closed my locker while meeting his gaze. Over his shoulder, I could see the four people I didn’t want to heading our way, “I’ll see you in biology, Kev,” I walked away as quickly as I could from them.
“(Y/N)!” I ran around the corner and to my class at the sound of Jughead’s voice. I’m not facing any of them just yet.
Kevin walked home with me. He wanted to talk more about it and I finally agreed.
“Okay. We’re in your room. Why are you ignoring them?“ Kevin asked me.
“I’ve known Jughead, Betty, and Archie for years. I met them in fifth grade when I first moved to Riverdale. Whereas Betty and Archie were best friends, Jughead and I were too. Jughead and Archie are brothers. Archie was the only one to know I had a crush on Jughead and he used to make fun of me for it but Archie stopped because I got over Jughead.“
“Is there a reason for this backstory?“ Kevin threw himself on my bed in feign annoyance to get me to laugh. In result, I laughed but he also got a face full of my faux fur pillow. I faced him as I sat down at my desk just across from my bed.
“Yes there is. Archie told Jughead and Betty that I used to like him after I convinced Archie I didn’t like Jughead anymore. Well, Jughead and Betty laughed at me. Made fun of me and Jughead even said that he didn’t and probably wouldn’t ever have a crush on me. I played it off like it didn’t matter to me but I went home that night and cried because I still liked him. I thought I got over him over the years but once it came out that he and Betty were together, I did the same thing I did when he said that to me. I came home and cried,“ I got up and leaned against the sill of my window.
“You still like him,“ I could see all of the gears in his head spinning. I saw all of it clicking in his head.
“I guess he was right. He never liked me and he never will,“ I smiled softly at Kevin’s look of pity.
— Kevin’s POV…
I stormed over to their table much to the disliking of (Y/N). I could hear her calling my name but I ignored it. I had a few things I needed to say to Thing 1 and Thing 2.
“Jughead, Archie, I need to talk to you too,“ I walked away with them following in tow.
“What’s up, Kev?“ I wanted to chuckle at the seemingly normal tone of voice Archie had.
“What’s up is that you two are pricks. No wonder (Y/N) doesn’t want to talk to any of you right now.“
“Wait, she told you why she’s ignoring us? What’d she say?“ I laughed at Jughead’s question because I wanted to tell them and call them out on their shit but it wasn’t my place. It also wouldn’t look good getting into a fight with my dad as the sheriff.
“It’s not my place to tell but you two definitely know why. Betty does too,“ I pushed pass them and walked back to (Y/N) who stood there with her usual poker face and her arms crossed, “Something had to be said, (Y/N).”
I wasn’t upset with Kevin for confronting them. I was kinda glad he did but I was also anxious because this would mean that they’d confront me about it asking why. That wasn’t something I was ready for but in all honesty, it probably wouldn’t be something I was ever ready for.
The day went on as normal. Them trying to talk to me, me avoiding them, and then me going home as quickly as I could to avoid all confrontation. Unfortunately for me though, the universe was not on my side. As soon as I got home, I got an hour to myself before Jughead came to visit me.
“Hey there, Juliet,“ I spun around in my desk chair at his voice before turning around and rolling my eyes. I still didn’t say anything to him, “Why are you ignoring all of us? And what did you tel Kevin to make him lose his shit on me and Archie?“ Jughead was probably already in my room sitting on my bed but I wasn’t going to turn around and find out, “(Y/N/N), come on. We’re best friends, why won’t you tell me what I did?” I couldn’t stop the cold scoff that came from me.
“I hate this, Jughead. I really do,“ I refused to turn and face him because I would lose it.
“Hate what, (Y/N)?“
“All of this. I just-“ what’s the point? This isn’t going to change anything, “Nevermind.“
“No tell me,“ his voice was concerned but it was also very strict in its tone.
“Why? What’s the point? Anything I say now can ruin our friendship. But it’s not like that matters. It’s not like it’s ever mattered,“ fuck it. I turned around and faced him with a burning in my eyes and a lump in my throat.
“It matters, (Y/N). You’re my best friend and I care about you. And it won’t ruin our friendship,“ I could see the hurt in his eyes but I still couldn’t bring myself to believe him.
“Really? You care? Is that why you haven’t put much effort in trying to talk to me? At least Archie, Betty, and Veronica stopped me multiple times in attempts to get me to talk.“
“What could I have said that they didn’t already?“ he was raising his voice at this point, something he rarely ever did towards me.
“Does that even matter? You didn’t even fucking try and yet you still call me your best friend. You know what, Jones, we haven’t been best friends for awhile. Not since Betty asked you to help her with the Blue and Gold. You stopped talking to me and hanging out with me as much, Jones. I wasn’t the one who stopped. And you know for damn sure that I wouldn’t have given up as easily as you did if our roles were reversed,“ the tears were flowing freely at this point and I don’t care anymore.
“What would I have done? Waltzed up to you and you would’ve magically talked to me? I know you, (Y/N). It wouldn’t have been that fucking easy otherwise I would’ve done it. And as for the whole best friend thing, you are my best friend. I just hung out with Betty more because she did the one thing for me that you couldn’t. Make me happy and calm every fucking demon in my head. You’re jealous of her and every one can see it. She’s everything you’re not-”
“Trust me, I know she’s everything I’m not, Forsythe. She’s smart and I’m not. She’s pretty and I’m not. She’s everyone’s friend and I’m not. I’m barely even yours. She’s the perfect girl next door with flawless, milky skin, blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and radiant smile. But I’m not jealous of any of that. I don’t wish to be her. I’m jealous of the fact that she took my best friend from me and made it look like you were never even my best friend in the first place. That’s what I’m jealous of, Forsythe,“ my tone was calm, my stature was calm, but anyone could see the pain I felt in my eyes as tears fell down my cheeks like it was raining.
“Are you sure?“ I hate the smirk that he was wearing as he got up and took slow steps towards me. It’s the one he wore whenever he knew something others didn’t, “I think you’re jealous of the fact that I love her and not you,“ that’s what did it. I froze as I felt myself going numb from his words.
“Fine. I love you and I fucking hate it. Are you happy now?“
“Then stop loving me-”
“I can’t! Don’t you get it? If I could, trust me, I would’ve stopped when I first started to. I’ve loved you for years, Forsythe. And I hate it so fucking much. I hated it when I told Archie years ago, I hated it when you all made fun of me for it, I hated it when you broke my heart, and I hate it now as you break my heart yet again. So I’ll say it again, I hate this,” I got up and walked towards him as my words were muffled slightly as I spoke through gritted teeth. I saw shock seep into his eyes as everything that was happening clicked.
“Save it. I think you said everything you wanted to. Don’t you agree? And I proved you wrong yet again. What I said ruined our friendship. Just go, Forsythe,“ I turned back to my desk and sat down in my chair.
“Go,“ he sighed heavily before I heard him take his leave through my window. Once I turned around to make sure that he was gone, I walked over and shut the window, locking it as well. I could feel everything hit me all at once as I reached for my phone and called Kevin.
“What’s up?“ I couldn’t form a coherent sentence through my sobs but luckily, I didn’t need to, “I’m on my way.“
