Grand Rapids' mygrcitypoints.com aims for a greener city by engaging, rewarding residents

One thing I love about Grand Rapids is that curbside recycling is free while you pay for trash pick-up. It makes a lot of sense and encourages people to recycle (after all, it saves them money). I’ve heard of places where it’s the other way around (i.e. Columbus, OH) and that makes no sense. While I am an avid recycler, I might not do it if I had to pay for it.

But I digress; recycling in Grand Rapids is about to get even more attractive with this new rewards system they’ll be starting in April. It has the potential to be very cool. Read about it at the above link. Hopefully the community will get as engaged in this program as they are hoping.

So this is a screenshot of my kickstarter. I’m so close to achieving this goal, and after only an hour we’d raised ¼ of our goal. $2000 is a lot of money. Half of my car, but consider that it’s only a pledge, and unless I hit my mark nothing is taken or given. If you can’t donate, I’m hoping you’ll take a second to just watch my video, and maybe share the link. I’m trying to grow as a person, as a brand and as an individual. The goal is a retail shop to relax, find something unique and to freshen lives. If you back is, I’ll be sure you’re known at my shop as a dear friend and family. I love you all, and the link on my profile is for the page! #plants #downtown #Phoenix #az #localfirst #love #you #all (at the bosque)
