Bomb threats were called into Jewish community centers and schools in at least 13 states on Monday, adding to a growing list of anti-Semitic incidents across the US this year.

Local media and police confirmed reports of threats on Monday in North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Michigan, Alabama, Maryland, Indiana, Virginia, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. No injuries were reported.

The latest rash of threats against Jewish centers is the fifth since the beginning of 2017, bringing the number of threats in the US and Canada to at least 80 reported before the end of February.

The threats on Monday come one day after a Jewish cemetery in Philadelphia was desecrated. On Sunday, around 100 headstones were knocked over at the Mount Carmel Cemetery in northeast Philadelphia, police said.

Eight-year-old girl arrested for 'lesbianism'
An eight-year-old Ugandan girl has been arrested on suspicion on 'lesbianism', it has been claimed. Ugandan police are allegedly holding the child after she was found kissing friends, according to local media reports, which didn't include any further detail about the girl's identity.

absolutely breaks my heart, the hypersexualisation of homosexuality and particularly lesbianism is disgraceful and the effects hurt children across the world

Baby boomers are horrible.

So a couple days ago my wife and I were shopping around and stopped at a local used book and media store. They have hundreds of thousands of books in clearly labeled sections.

On our way out a man who looked to in his sixties came in, grabbed a hand basket, and immediately started yelling at a woman behind the counter sorting books. He complained about how he hates coming here and can never find some western series. The woman explained where those are located and pointed to the back corner of the building.

He started yelling more saying “That don’t mean shit to me!” A guy stepped in and showed the sixty year old baby where to look. He continued cussing and complaining to the back. The woman behind the counter was left baffled.

Watch: This video of a woman’s racist rant at a shopping center shows how easy it is to be harassed just about anywhere if you’re not white

In a now-deleted Facebook post, user Renee Buckner shared the video and described the scene. "I had to get back on FB, to expose this racism in America/Louisville,“ she said in the post, which was picked up by local and national media outlets. "If we ignore it, it will never go away."

MOSCOW—Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of cities across Russia on Sunday to protest official corruption in the most significant challenge to President Vladimir Putin in years.

Sunday’s marches were called by leading opposition figure Alexei Navalny, who was detained during the protest in Moscow, according to supporters and local media.

“There are things in life worth being detained for,” Mr. Navalny said on Twitter.

Crowds chanting “Russia without Putin” and carrying placards decrying official corruption converged on Pushkin Square in the Russian capital, where they faced off with ranks of Interior Ministry police in riot gear.

Police officials told news agency Interfax that 7,000 to 8,000 people participated and around 500 were arrested. The radio station Echo of Moscow, drawing on unofficial estimates, put the number of participants in Moscow much higher.

Russian riot police detain a demonstrator during an anti-corruption rally in central Moscow on Sunday.
The demonstrations are a sign of public dissatisfaction in Russia despite the consistently high approval ratings Mr. Putin receives in opinion surveys.

In Washington, the State Department sharply condemned the Russian crackdown, including the arrest of Mr. Navalny, other protesters, human rights observers and journalists.

“The Russian people, like people everywhere, deserve a government that supports an open marketplace of ideas, transparent and accountable governance, equal treatment under the law, and the ability to exercise their rights without fear of retribution,” State Department spokesman Mark Toner said.

Russia’s economy has struggled and the country has been hit with international sanctions since it annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. Transparency International rates the country as one of the most corrupt in Europe.

“I don’t like the kind of Russia we have today, or the people who are in power,” said Anna Tursina, who attended the Moscow march. “There’s no money for education, or science, for children, mothers and the elderly.”

Ms. Tursina carried a sign emblazoned with the slogan, “A thief should sit in jail.”

Images on Russian social media showed crowds of hundreds or thousands in cities across the country. Supporters of Mr. Navalny’s posted photos of demonstrations in Siberian cities of Irkutsk, Tomsk and Krasnoyarsk.

Interfax, citing local authorities, reported that 1,500 demonstrators turned out for a protest in Vladivostok on Russia’s Pacific Coast.

Do you know who Colin Farrell is? A famous movie actor, Colin Farrell is known for movies such as Minority Report, In Bruges, and Crazy Heart. Off the screen, Colin is known to possess a bit of a rebellious nature. This act of kindness by Colin, however, will completely change your outlook on him.

It was the 2007 Toronto International Music Festival. While attending the festival, Colin befriended a homeless man named Stress. As he was leaving a restaurant, Colin saw Stress sitting on the curb and decided to approach him in order to bum a cigarette. They continued to have a long conversation, much like a pair of old friends. Local media and fans were confused — Colin had never done anything like this before.

After their conversation, Colin gave him several things: a new wardrobe, a handful of cash, his own place for a year, and a book called The Voice of God by a Persian poet named Hafiz. Stress was addicted to alcohol and drugs, but Colin’s generous act turned his life around. What an incredible thing for Colin Farrell to do!

Haiti hotel police raid exposes child sex trafficking
Haitian police have arrested nine people in connection with sex trafficking, involving girls as young as 13, highlighting the dangers facing children in the Caribbean nation where human trafficking is rife and the crime often goes unpunished.

The sting raid by police on Sunday at a resort hotel, Kaliko Beach Club, near the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, led to the rescue of at least 31 women and girls, police authorities said.

“These people are suspected of trafficking in minors and of sexual exploitation,” said Gary Desrosiers, national police deputy spokesman, in an interview with local media.

The victims were rescued following a two-month investigation, he said.

Fernando Aceves recalls ‘Just a few days before the only David Bowie concert in Mexico City, I received a phone call from the local promoter telling me he had special permission to take a few shots of David at the “Pyramids of Teotihuacan”, the archaeological site 50 km from the capital city in order to send them to the local media to promote the gig.

We had a wonderful and casual time at the Mexican pyramids. He was a very natural man, I would say “A true human being”. He was amazed to be close to the ancient constructions. I was a fly on a wall like my small German camera; the Leica M6’.

Bucharest: Thousands protest decriminalising corruption

Hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets in the Romanian capital to protest against an emergency government decree decriminalising a string of corruption offences. Protesters on Wednesday evening in Bucharest shouted “Rats” and carried banners that read “The morning shift”, sending a message that the protests will continue until the government resigns.   The marches against the government’s move  followed similar protests a day earlier . At least 130,000 people marched in Bucharest, while more took to the streets elsewhere in the country, including  Timisoara, Cluj, Iasi and Sibiu. OPINION: Keep the corrupt in jail, where they belong Romania’s top judicial watchdog announced a court challenge on Wednesday against the government decree decriminalising a number of corruption offences in what critics say is the biggest retreat on reforms since the country joined the European Union a decade ago. The decree, unveiled by the Social Democrat-led government of Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu after it took power earlier this month, has drawn sharp criticism and triggered the biggest street protests since the fall of communism in Romania in 1989. If enforced, the decree would, among other things, decriminalise abuse-of-power offences in which the sums involved were less than 200,000 lei ($48,000). That would put an end to an ongoing trial of Social Democrat party leader Liviu Dragnea, who is accused of using his political influence to secure state salaries for two people working at his party headquarters between 2006 and 2013. Dozens of MPs and mayors across all parties stand to benefit from the decree. “I don’t understand what protesters are upset about,” Dragnea told reporters on Tuesday. Two opposition parties, the opposition Liberals (PNL) and the Save Romania Union (USR), announced they would file a no-confidence motion on Wednesday against the government, which enjoys a comfortable majority in parliament. As parliament opened for its first regular session of the year, USR lawmakers paraded banners that read “Shame” while other opposition deputies shouted “Resignation” and “Thieves”.

Entrenched corruption

President Klaus Iohannis took part in an emergency meeting of Romania’s top magistrates’ body, the Superior Magistrates’ Council (CSM), telling reporters afterwards: “The problem is that one cannot act the way the government did in a country with the rule of law, which Romania is and wants to remain.” CSM president Mariana Ghena said she would file a challenge with the constitutional court by the end of the day. The European Commission, which has Romania’s justice system under special monitoring, warned against backtracking. “The fight against corruption needs to be advanced, not undone,” Commission head Jean-Claude Juncker, and his deputy, Frans Timmermans, said in a joint statement. “We are following the latest developments in Romania with great concern.” The embassies of Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the United States expressed deep concerns in a joint statement “over the government’s actions … which have undermined Romania’s progress over the last ten years with the rule of law and the fight against corruption.” “This decree … can only undermine Romania’s reputation in the international community and risks affecting partnerships based on common values, inherent to the guiding principles of the EU and NATO,” the statement said. Romania’s Social Democrats won back power in a December 2016 election a year after protesters drove them from office in an outpouring of anger over a deadly fire at a nightclub that lacked emergency exits and safety permits. Many saw the fire as emblematic of widespread corruption and impunity, but after 12 months of technocrat government, the Social Democrats returned on a promise to hike wages and pensions and cut taxes. Anti-corruption prosecutors are currently investigating over 2,000 abuse of power cases. They indicted over 1,000 over the last 3 years with damages worth up to 1 billion euros. The decree would apply to ongoing investigations and trials as well as new cases and it specifies it will come into effect within ten days. Criminal negligence is also no longer an offense and the definition of conflict of interest has narrowed. The government on Tuesday also approved a draft bill granting prison pardons that requires parliamentary approval. “These provisions aim to exonerate all top and medium ranking officials - parliament clerks, government members, all those able to approve laws, decrees, local decisions,” chief anti-corruption prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi told television station DIGI24. “Since last night, every day has become a major risk for the judicial system.”

Timeline where Dipper and Wirt don’t meet until they are career-driven adults.
Dipper achieves his dream of making paranormal investigation his life. He travels along the west coast in an RV with a small team of like-minded guys. Together, they investigate strange happenings and local legends. Dipper and the guys come across a small town that seems to attract the supernatural.
“Or maybe it’s just full of highly impressionable people,” one of the team remarks.
Because of the time they spend there, they catch the local media’s attention. Granted, this is just a small-town newspaper and new visitors get the top headlines. The paper sends out their newest journalist, Wirt Elwood, to interview them. How hard can it possibly be to get interesting answers out of ghost hunters?
Mr. Elwood finds it very difficult indeed. Their leader, Dr. Pines, is just too cute and for some reason Wirt keeps dropping his pen. Dipper picks it up off the floor and pulls a scrap of paper out of his pocket.
“You know, Mr. Elwood,” Dr. Pines says. Wirt is surprised to hear his name so formalized. “You seem distracted. It’s a possibility that there may be some force in here causing a disturbance the only you seem to pick up. Here…” Dipper hands the journalist the paper he scribbled on. It’s a phone number with an area code unfamiliar to Wirt. “We should go to the café instead; My team has already called it clear. I’m sure you know it’s small, so maybe it’s better if it was just you and me. Call me whenever you have an opening.”
And with a soft rumble of chuckles and “Yeah man"s, the team leaves Wirt in his office, trembling from embarrassment and anticipation of a date with Dr. Pines

Creepypasta #1019: The Rake

Length: Medium

During the summer of 2003, events in the northeastern United States involving a strange, human-like creature sparked brief local media interest before an apparent blackout was enacted. Little or no information was left intact, as most online and written accounts of the creature were mysteriously destroyed.

Primarily focused in rural New York state and once found in Idaho, self proclaimed witnesses told stories of their encounters with a creature of unknown origin. Emotions ranged from extremely traumatic levels of fright and discomfort, to an almost childlike sense of playfulness and curiosity. While their published versions are no longer on record, the memories remained powerful. Several of the involved parties began looking for answers that year.

In early 2006, the collaboration had accumulated nearly two dozen documents dating between the 12th century and present day, spanning 4 continents. In almost all cases, the stories were identical. I’ve been in contact with a member of this group and was able to get some excerpts from their upcoming book.

A Suicide Note: 1964

“As I prepare to take my life, I feel it necessary to assuage any guilt or pain I have introduced through this act. It is not the fault of anyone other than him. For once I awoke and felt his presence. And once I awoke and saw his form. Once again I awoke and heard his voice, and looked into his eyes. I cannot sleep without fear of what I might next awake to experience. I cannot ever wake. Goodbye.”

Found in the same wooden box were two empty envelopes addressed to William and Rose, and one loose personal letter with no envelope:

“Dearest Linnie,

I have prayed for you. He spoke your name.”

A Journal Entry (translated from Spanish): 1880

“I have experience the greatest terror. I have experienced the greatest terror. I have experienced the greatest terror. I see his eyes when I close mine. They are hollow. Black. They saw me and pierced me. His wet hand. I will not sleep. His voice (unintelligible text).”

A Mariner’s Log: 1691

“He came to me in my sleep. From the foot of my bed I felt a sensation. He took everything. We must return to England. We shall not return here again at the request of the Rake.”

From a Witness: 2006

“Three years ago, I had just returned from a trip from Niagara Falls with my family for the 4th of July. We were all very exhausted after a long day of driving, so my husband and I put the kids right to bed and called it a night.

At about 4am, I woke up thinking my husband had gotten up to use the restroom. I used the moment to steal back the sheets, only to wake him in the process. I apologized and told him I though he got out of bed. When he turned to face me, he gasped and pulled his feet up from the end of the bed so quickly his knee almost knocked me out of the bed. He then grabbed me and said nothing.

After adjusting to the dark for a half second, I was able to see what caused the strange reaction. At the foot of the bed, sitting and facing away from us, there was what appeared to be a naked man, or a large hairless dog of some sort. Its body position was disturbing and unnatural, as if it had been hit by a car or something. For some reason, I was not instantly frightened by it, but more concerned as to its condition. At this point I was somewhat under the assumption that we were supposed to help him.

My husband was peering over his arm and knee, tucked into the fetal position, occasionally glancing at me before returning to the creature.

In a flurry of motion, the creature scrambled around the side of the bed, and then crawled quickly in a flailing sort of motion right along the bed until it was less than a foot from my husband’s face. The creature was completely silent for about 30 seconds (or probably closer to 5, it just seemed like a while) just looking at my husband. The creature then placed its hand on his knee and ran into the hallway, leading to the kids’ rooms.I screamed and ran for the lightswitch, planning to stop him before he hurt my children. When I got to the hallway, the light from the bedroom was enough to see it crouching and hunched over about 20 feet away. He turned around and looked directly at me, covered in blood. I flipped the switch on the wall and saw my daughter Clara.

The creature ran down the stairs while my husband and I rushed to help our daughter. She was very badly injured and spoke only once more in her short life. She said "he is the Rake”.

My husband drove his car into a lake that night, while rushing our daughter to the hospital. They did not survive.

Being a small town, news got around pretty quickly. The police were helpful at first, and the local newspaper took a lot of interest as well. However, the story was never published and the local television news never followed up either.

For several months, my son Justin and I stayed in a hotel near my parent’s house. After we decided to return home, I began looking for answers myself. I eventually located a man in the next town over who had a similar story. We got in contact and began talking about our experiences. He knew of two other people in New York who had seen the creature we now referred to as the Rake.

It took the four of us about two solid years of hunting on the internet and writing letters to come up with a small collection of what we believe to be accounts of the Rake. None of them gave any details, history or follow up. One journal had an entry involving the creature in its first 3 pages, and never mentioned it again. A ship’s log explained nothing of the encounter, saying only that they were told to leave by the Rake. That was the last entry in the log.

There were, however, many instances where the creature’s visit was one of a series of visits with the same person. Multiple people also mentioned being spoken to, my daughter included. This led us to wonder if the Rake had visited any of us before our last encounter.

I set up a digital recorder near my bed and left it running all night, every night, for two weeks. I would tediously scan through the sounds of me rolling around in my bed each day when I woke up. By the end of the second week, I was quite used to the occasional sound of sleep while blurring through the recording at 8 times the normal speed. (This still took almost an hour every day)

On the first day of the third week, I thought I heard something different. What I found was a shrill voice. It was the Rake. I can’t listen to it long enough to even begin to transcribe it. I haven’t let anyone listen to it yet. All I know is that I’ve heard it before, and I now believe that it spoke when it was sitting in front of my husband. I don’t remember hearing anything at the time, but for some reason, the voice on the recorder immediately brings me back to that moment.

The thoughts that must have gone through my daughter’s head make me very upset.

I have not seen the Rake since he ruined my life, but I know that he has been in my room while I slept. I know and fear that one night I’ll wake up to see him staring at me.“

This Cat Became A Museum Employee After Their April Fools’ Prank Backfired

A museum who thought it would be hilarious to prank everyone on April Fools’ Day ended up accidentally employing a cat.

Staff at the Serpukhov Museum of History and Art in Serpukhov, Russia, wrote out a fake application letter for stray cat Marav, who has been hanging out inside the building for the past two years.

Named after the cat-loving former museum owner Anna Maraeva, he has acted as the unofficial greeter for visitors since he started roaming the building.

Workers sent a prank job application out in a press release to local media and said that they had accepted it, giving him a job.

April Fools’: The museum tried to prank the media with Maray’s job application (Serpukhov Historical and Art Museum)

The application, that was even signed with a paw print, read: “As I am a direct relative of [Anna] Maraeva, I ask you to give me a job in your museum. Maray The Cat.”

However, the prank was taken a bit too seriously by journalists, who had contacted the museum to find out more about him.

As a result, staff actually gave Maray a job for real - and he is now officially a part of the team, working a 9-5 shift and having a regular lunch break like everyone else.

Employee: The cat is now officially a part of the team (Serpukhov Historical and Art Museum)

His colleague Nina Strelkova said: “All people who work in our museum love Maray.

“Many bring him food from home and take pictures with him. So he gets a little fat now.

“And visitors love the cat too - lots of them taking selfies with him.”

He doesn’t slack too much, however, as he would probably face disciplinary action.
