The Bird is the Word

Tikaram Giri, a field ornithologist, was enjoying a 10-day bird watching trip with friends and local tour guides from the Nepalese Ornithological Union and Bird Education Society in Nepal’s Chitwan District when they stumbled upon a chance discovery. The red-faced liocichla (Liocichla phoenicea) was thought to be locally extinct and hasn’t been documented in the area for 178 years.
