Weekly Obsession: Lizzie Fortunato Jewels After the Gold Rush Necklace

Gems, leather, and spikes! Oh my! This American history-inspired Lizzie Fortunato necklace is the perfect mix of three of our favorite design elements. Featuring a cluster of freshwater pearls, three different stones, and gold-plated bullets on braided leather cord, the After the Gold Rush Necklace is the ideal fall statement necklace and a new way to incorporate leather in your wardrobe. Worn with a simple outfit, this bib will spice up your neckline and add some serious edge to your look.

Created by twin sisters Elizabeth and Kathryn Fortunato, the NYC-based accessories line Lizzie Fortunato has been internationally recognized for blending a luxurious yet laid-back style into jewelry and handbags. Expertly crafted of found, reclaimed and semi-precious materials, Lizzie Fortunato designs are consistently praised by major publications from the likes of Women’s Wear Daily, Vogue, Elle and The New York Times. The label has twice been named “one of the world’s most promising accessories lines” by Harper’s Bazaar and has been tapped for runway collaborations with designers from SUNO to Matthew Williamson.

The designer duo combed through the app to pick out their favorite springy pieces for life in New York City. Find their full roundup below…

Poole Shop - Charlotte - Pero Embroidered Top

“Lizzie goes crazy for any hand-embroidered pieces (textiles, clothing, jewelry), so this top is a must-have for Spring.”

Hu’s Shoes - Washington - Fringe Sandal

“We are always running around the city, so we need a sandal with a little substance. These Chloé fringe sandals play so perfectly with the fringe on our jewelry and bags for Spring/Summer 2015 and we love the black and blue combo. Lusting after these for Spring.”

Heery’s Clothes Closet - Athens - Floral Frida Necklace

“Our Floral Frida Necklace is inspired by a recent trip to Mexico City where we visited Frida Kahlo’s home, Casa Azul. The perfect Spring outfit should be super simple and dressed up with an easy and adjustable statement necklace like this one.”

James - Charleston - Inca Cuffs

“Lizzie and I live in our Inca Cuffs. It’s the one style we are both always wearing. Keep these in mind for all those Spring weddings – the Inca Cuffs are great for bridesmaids or gifting and come in onyx, howlite white, light peach aventurine, light green aventurine and more.”

Poole Shop - Charlotte - LemLem Scarves

“We have always been such fans of LemLem. The aesthetic is perfect for summer and these pieces easily take us from NYC to vacation.”

Serafina - San Marino - Apiece Apart Poncho

“Apiece Apart is a favorite for both Lizzie and me. I just got one of their Spring ponchos in tan/white and now can’t resist this version either. The line is our absolute idea of the investment staple to be worn and mixed and matched every day.”

Poole Shop - Charlotte - Aztec Fringe Necklace

“Lizzie’s current wall hanging obsession is perfectly translated to fringe tassels in this Lizzie Fortuanto Aztec Fringe Necklace. The piece is surprisingly lightweight, adjustable and makes a great statement. It’s our Spring festival-to-beach piece.”

Recently, I have seen a proliferation of tribal-inspired jewellery, and this particular necklace is definitely one of the best and most luxurious takes on the tribal trend that I have come across.
