Educating Myself

This morning I finally watched Forks over Knives. I’ve been avoiding it, because I didn’t want it to turn me off from eating meat, which I eat a ton of. It was interesting, and although it didn’t completely convince me to start eating a plant based whole foods diet, it did get me thinking. The movie made me think about how educated I am. Most of my information comes from Zen, and although I trust her entirely, it never hurts to get educated. My goal for the next couple of weeks is to continue researching, reading, watching documentaries, and educate myself about the effects of different foods on the body. I feel like the more that I understand the science of what’s happening to me, the more I’ll continue to make healthy choices.

I’ve been fascinated with the detox process this time around, and that’s turning into a larger fascination with my body and what’s going on inside. I’m about to start my liver flush tomorrow, and I can’t wait.  I feel like a whole new person, because a couple months ago, I wasn’t so convinced about any of this. Cleansing at a Party

Last night my friends were throwing a Christmas party. And I was in the middle of my cleanse. I spent the entire day feeling nervous about telling people about it. But time and time again I have learned that people respond best when I am just myself. All of myself. I am so much happier when I’m not trying to “be cool” or hide something. I love being genuinely me. Which means juice cleanses, shoulder dancing, cat shirts, dinosaurs, and just a whole lot of goofy. 

Juicing in Disneyland

Yesterday I started my liver detox cleanse. It’s way more involved that the stone cleanse. The timing is more important, and there’s more to take. I spent Sunday morning figuring it all out. Then, in the afternoon, I went to Disneyland. Being on a juice cleanse in Disneyland was a very interesting experience. There were many challenges, but it was also nice to have a distraction. I think one of the most difficult parts was the weather. It was around 105, so as you can imagine, we were sweating like crazy!! It was difficult to stay hydrated. We were also using a lot of energy walking around the parks, and after about 4 hours, I could really start to feel it. But all of those obstacles aside, it was a very fun day, and not a bad way to start a juice cleanse!
