live for the skate

The salty Yuzuru fans regarding Nathan Chen.

~artistry in skating is over~

~Nathan Chen is the Justin Bieber of skating~

Anyway Nathan may not be at Yuzuru’s level yet PCs wise, but he does have ‘artistry’ in his skating he’s not just ‘jump to jump to jump’. He’s not Justin Bieber he’s an incredible athlete that’s helping to drive this sport forward at a breathtaking rate. He’s an innovator and there’s a damn good chance he’s this sport’s tomorrow.

I’ll give you that in the last ¼ or so of his program at 4c he looked like he was just trying to get through it and it tarnished his presentation, and also that his free wasn’t near as stunning as it was at Nationals, but you’re wrong if you think he’s just jumps. Yuzuru’s amazing, but he got beat fair and square (it’s not like he was at his best either, he can be so much better and he DID still beat Nathan in the free) and Nathan wasn’t overscored.

headcanon: we all know that Phichit is a Disney Prince(ss), but he just can’t stand Chinese red-headed centipedes. They’re a big nope for him. The thing is, so can’t Seung-gil, though they both try to be brave for each other. One day, they spotted one right in the living room, so Seung-gil geared up with a skating magazine roll while Phichit grabbed a pot lid (to protect himself) and live stream the whole thing on Instagram, calling it the apocalypse. Right before Seung-gil hit the centipede, he noticed that the cover of the magazine was Phichit’s smiling face from when he won Gold in China, and so he had a moment of weakness. But because he hesitated, the centipede became aware of their presence and disappeared into the bedroom. Both boys packed up their stuff left hand in hand.

Hanyu 4CC

Eurosport didn’t do the free skate live transmission (wtf?), so I had to rush to find a livestream. I got a pretty good one, and just as Hanyu started the second half of his program the stream froze. Arghh…

Probably right along with most people watching, including Brian, who were trying to figure out what the hell was happening on that ice. lol

I only got it back for the Kiss&Cry, and I was happy Yuzuru and Brian were both very happy and chatty. He got over 200 and 300 combined, so I think he was very pleased.

I can’t believe he got that, while making changes in a highly complex, intensive, technical program, on the fly. And just because he was feeling good, he did a triple axel as his last jump. On the free skate. Four minutes in. Of a complex, intensive, technical program. Ah. Chill has left the building and dropped off a cliff. LOL

Even Brian was thanking him. XD It’s so great to see them hug. Hanyu is a hugging machine with Brian (and Javi), and you can really tell how fantastic their relationship still is, after 5 long years.

So basically Hope and Legacy was also a completely different program. Yuzu skipped/changed a lot of choreo elements and spins to catch up with the music and fit in the jumps. Kind of an all around mess. BUT YOU COULDN’T EVEN TELL IF YOU DIDN’T KNOW. And that’s how you recognize a champion. When they can make it beautiful and effortless, even when things don’t go right.

Monday 8:27am
I woke up with you on my mind.
You called me babe last night —
my heart is still pounding.

Tuesday 10:53pm
Today I realized we won’t work.
What we are is hurting her.
And I think she matters more to me than you do.

Wednesday 11:52pm
I broke things off with you today.
She barely said a word.
I’ve never regretted anything more than this.

Thursday 4:03pm
I shouldn’t have sent that message.
You shouldn’t have been so okay with receiving it.

Friday 9:57pm
I almost messaged you today.
I didn’t.

Saturday 8:49pm
I’m walking around town in search of alcohol.
They say that liquor numbs the pain of having a broken heart.
I want to put that to the test.

Sunday 2:32am
I heard you texted a girl you’ve never spoken to before.
I wonder if it’s because you’re trying to replace me.
I can’t help but wish you weren’t.
I thought I was irreplaceable.

—  a week with you on my mind, c.j.n.
Move on, leave, run away, escape this place… but don’t forget about me, about us, about this town. Always remember where you come from so you can appreciate how far you’ve come.
