live action photography

My favourite part about LARP will always be the live action. When I’m in that moment of battle, I can’t even explain the freedom it gives me. This battle game is where my LARP life started, 3 years ago, and it’s probably what I will always enjoy the most about this crazy, amazing hobby.

Did an end of season larp shoot ❤️ this is my main girl Bella, I’ve played her a little over three years now and don’t think I could get sick of being her. Mercenary lieutenant, recent student of the dragon goddess of fire and passion and general shit disturber.

If any locals would like to know more about havok and how to join please let me know :) we’re a character and plot rp immersed larp and all around I think a pretty great crew with an amazing WM team who are always open about listening to input, letting players drive the game and are fantastic at making sure it stays a fun, safe and respectful game for all.

Quite a lovely photo of my kit from Swordcraft last night. Slowly working my body strength back up to be able to wear all my plate armour again. It feels amazing! Even if I am pretty sore today. Also my halberd, Jacopo, is finally back in fighting form after having to rebuild him twice.

Loving this strange and wonderful photo taken by one of Sydney’s main newspapers, the Sydney Morning Herald. The photographer said we’d make a good couple 😂

I reckon we look like a pair of poor potato farmers just trying their best to make an honest living.

Taken at Winterfest, a medieval faire in Sydney where we were working a few weeks ago.

Robert Capa

Robert Capa is my favorite photographer. If you don’t know about him, do yourself a favor and read “Slightly Out of Focus.”

His photographs, though only 11 survived due to a horrible mistake in a London lab, are the reason you have indelible images of D-Day etched in your psyche.

When he was young, he witnessed the rise of Hitler and fled to Paris. He became one of the most famous war photographers of World War II.

About that war.

We fought Nazis. Over 400,000 United States soldiers gave their lives in that war.

Over 60 million people were killed during that war.

Chances are you have, or had, some family member who fought in that war.

And now in 2017 we have neofascists in our current administration. They may not call themselves Nazis, but do not be fooled by new labels.

These men guide the president’s thoughts. They craft his statements, so as not to offend the base. These are dangerous men.

After yesterday, this is now clearly on display.

I urge you to call your Representatives and the White House and demand that these neofascists who have the president’s ear be removed from the administration.

Stephen Miller. Steve Bannon. Sebastian Gorka. All need to be fired tomorrow.

The White House number is 202 456-1111.

The Capitol switchboard is 202 224-3121.

Please,  this nation fought this enemy once before.  Now they are here.

Call now.  It’s a start.

Spread the word.

Catch Me If You Can, Final Photos and Evaluation.

This is my final catch me if you canvas. It too me a while to get all of my photographs in a canvas together and did have to slightly crop some of my photos to get them all to fit. I finally got them all in and really happy with the out come.

I done my shoot at Rugby Park in Kilmarnock (Home of Kilmarnock FC) as one of my friends plays in the ladies team for Killie and was fortunately able to go along to her last game of the season and had access to be on the pitch during the game to take photos. Although it was freezing I was pleased with how it went and felt the football was the perfect idea for the catch me if you can brief. I feel I managed to get all the required shots, which were

  • Freezing Action
  • Blurred Motion/Panning
  • Different range of angles
  • Different compositions

After taking around 900 photos I used bridge and review mode to narrow it down and used photoshop to edit and optimise them and eventually got my final 6. I chose them depending on how well they fitted the brief, i.e the best freezing action shots, the bet panning etc etc.

Overall I am really pleased with my final canvas and really enjoyed doing this brief.

Right before my friend moved she wanted to get together and do a shoot based on the new movie.

We wanted to make some sort of cosplay/fashion inspired by the Ninja Turtles, and with them being so heavily accessorized in the new movie it was easy to put together outfits similar to their looks. We had designed these when images for the turtles had first started coming out so they might not be accurate anymore.

Hopefully the movie itself is decent, if not, we’ll always have their older stuff!
