little mermaid return to the sea

inkandartistry  asked:

I don't know if you've been asked this but do You have any dialogue or prompts pertaining to....Mermaids?

“You know, I thought you’d be different.”

“Oh, how?”

“Less teeth.  Way less teeth.”

You’ve got to tell me the secret to your hair.  It’s not just the salt water, is it?  Tell me it’s attainable.”

“Well, what do we have here?”

“It looks to be a merperson, Captain.”

“I know what it is!  I was asking a rhetorical question!”

“Sorry, sir.”

They say that when the sea’s especially rough, that the sea people come up.  The sailors can’t see them to fight that way.”

“Why do they take sailors, grandmama?”

“Other people will tell you it’s because they want to kill humans, or some other bad reason.  But I’ll tell you, those sailors that are taken.  They receive a gift far greater than any on land can understand.”

The townpeople say that you’re crazy - talking about people who live in the ocean.  But you’re not, are you?  You’ve seen them too.  Please tell me, you’ve seen them too.”

“Yes.  It was a man.  A long time ago.  A man who loved me and I loved him back.”

“What happened?”

“He had to leave.  He promised to return.  But he never did.  So let me tell you, little one, don’t believe your sea person.  They don’t come back - they may come up for their time in the sun, but they belong to heart of the ocean.”

RFA + V + Saeran reacting to MC being an mermaid?? Your blog ir my fave mysme hc blog /sorryforthebadenglish

You’re english is actually very good! :) Thank you so much for your support! This was actually a very fun, interesting prompt. As you might notice, I kinda switched between mythologies and kinds of mermaids between characters, so hopefully that makes things interesting! Enjoy!

Yoosung

  • MC decided to show him in the bathtub in her apartment
  • His jaw dropped
  • The only thing that came out of his mouth was, “You look like a mermaid from LOLOL!”
  • MC laughed as he blushed, and explained that her mermaid cousin had actually designed a lot of mythical creatures for various fantasy based games, and she knows her cousin designed the mermaids for LOLOL
  • She’s got scales her and there, imbedded in her cheeks and shoulders, and Yoosung just can’t stop staring because she’s so sparkly and pretty
  • Before he can help it, he says, “If anything happens, at least I’m a vet.”
  • MC laughs and pulls him into the tub for that comment
  • He has so many questions for later, but holds them back in this moment to just let this whole situation sink in

Jaehee

  • For some reason, MC insisted they go to the beach
  • No real explanation
  • MC would only say that there was something she wanted to show Jaehee
  • It was a warm and sunny day, there were plenty of people, but MC dragged her to this perfect little hideaway beach where no one else could see them swim
  • MC dragged Jaehee in once they’d set up camp and they swam and played and eventually MC coaxed Jaehee down into the water so that she could see her bottom half clearly
  • Jaehee was so startled she had to go up for air
  • MC shyly peaked her head up in the water and Jaehee could see how nervous she was and calmed down
  • They go up to the beach, but sit so that the ocean comes up to the hips
  • They talk, Jaehee feels MC’s tail and asks questions about mermaids, a kind of child-like curiosity in wanting to know about her people
  • MC was just relieved Jaehee was so accepting of her and still wanted to be with her

Zen

  • It was always interesting to him that MC knew so very little about popular media and some common social norms
  • She had a phone, of course, but she’d seemed surprised when he turned on the TV one day, and half the time, electronics seemed to confuse her
  • Of course, it was adorable watching her flounder and ask for his help
  • she also seemed to eat a lot of fish
  • Then, one day, a woman showed up while they were on a date
  • She and MC went off privately a little and fought about something, the other woman trying to force something into MC’s hands
  • When MC came back, she told Zen there was something they really needed to talk about
  • He almost didn’t believe her when she explained that she was a mermaid, but she had purposely transformed for him, and he was… well, he was in awe
  • MC also awkwardly explained that she… well, she made a deal with a Sea Witch, her sisters are scared she’ll never return to the ocean and die, like fable of the Little Mermaid
  • MC won’t as long as she pays the Sea Witch off or… uses the blood of the man she loves to null the contract all together
  • MC assures him that paying the Sea Witch is already taken care of, so he doesn’t need to worry about that
  • Zen still worries that her sisters will come try to kill him, but MC assures him that they know better than to try

Jumin

  • When MC told him, he thought she was joking
  • Seriously, if she was a mermaid, how did she have legs now?
  • Well, MC explains that mermaids can leave the sea for long durations of time, but eventually have to return for a year (or five) in order to live
  • Thank goodness for modern amenities, however, as she is able to mix up a makeshift saltwater bath, dip in, and prove it
  • Jumin’s face suddenly darkens and asks if she has any skins that she needs to wear to transform or if she has a mermaid husband, but MC quickly tells him he’s thinking of selkie and he has nothing to worry about
  • MC is very impressed with his knowledge of mythology
  • Then again, he reads a lot of… let’s say, interesting, books
  • She assures him that, because she can mix up a salt water bath whenever she needs, she can and will stay with him
  • That’s all he needs to hear
  • He sets up a few precautions to protect MC, intends to keep her secret secret, and does some research
  • Jumin discovers online that mermaids like shiny things, so he buys MC a ton of shiny things and she goes nuts for it, which makes him happy

Saeyoung

  • “I always thought there was something fishy about you!”
  • Omfg, Saeyoung, not now. Get that stupid grin off your face.
  • Btw, he walked in on her in the tub with her tail hanging out the side
  • On the surface he takes the whole thing surprisingly well, cracking jokes, asking questions
  • “How long have you been a mermaid? Can you breathe underwater? Do you have a pod or a pet dolphin? How deep underwater can you go?”
  • On the inside, he’s planning/panicking
  • How is he going to hide her secret and protect her? Because he certainly didn’t know mermaids existed until now
  • MC is honestly surprised by his apparent enthusiasm
  • They end up having a long, semi-serious conversation about her being a mermaid, how they can hide it, and who they should and shouldn’t tell
  • Then they talk mermaid stuff, like how she never gets pruney, she doesn’t need air because she has gils, and what prompted her to leave the sea in the first place

V

  • Honestly, the moment V heard that MC was a mermaid, he didn’t believe it until she showed him by dragging him to a secluded beach
  • And the moment he saw her, he just wanted to take her picture
  • So he did, catching a gorgeous shot of her tail catching the light just right and the ocean as a backdrop
  • That was the only picture V took, he made one print of it, and hid the film
  • The only people who would ever see the picture were himself and MC
  • The picture was too beautiful to destroy, and V itched to take more, but never would to protect her secret
  • MC is honestly surprised at how well he handled everything
  • V really likes the sound of her singing, but she has a bad habit of singing sea shanties, so he can’t help but laugh at the stereotypical mermaid things she does

Saeran

  • When he found out, Saeran was so scared she was going to leave him to return to the sea
  • MC assured him she wasn’t going anywhere, but he was still scared to bits
  • Besides, MC was a freshwater mermaid and grew by a river and a lake
  • Saeran ends up having Saeyoung help him build a bunch of water proof electronic devices (including a phone and a smart watch with a tracker inside) for MC so that he can still keep track of her if she goes underwater
  • As… invasive as it is, the devises also notify her when someone is checking her location
  • MC ends up showing the devises off to her mermaid friends, who then wish to use valuables they’ve gathered from accidents and wrecks to pay for phones for themselves
  • She also takes a ton of underwater photos for Saeran so that he can see what she sees
  • Once they’re living together in a place near a river, he’s so much more at ease

“long ago and far away, in a water kingdom of coral and pearls, there lived a little mermaid. her name was Ondina, and she was a princess of the sea. her father, King Neptha, gave his beloved daughter any treasure she desired. all he asked in return was to hear her melodious voice everyday. however, the one thing she wanted most was not in his power to give.”

Humans are weird, and when you get the chance to get to know one and understand them better, you take it. But there are rules about interfering with human affairs, and breaking them might come at a higher price than you were willing to pay.

Reader x Yoongi

Mermaid Au

Fluff, humor, maybe some angst? Not much though.

It had been one of those nights that Yoongi couldn’t take a moment to collect his thoughts, just had to keep working until the bar closed. It was packed all night, and by the time it cleared out he was exhausted and his feet hurt. But he wasn’t in a bad mood, unlike some other nights that this happened. He was looking forward to buying ice cream and meeting you under the pier.

“Alright, I’m out.” He said to Jimin when he was done cleaning up.

“Not yet, you’re not.” Jimin said. “There’s some girl here to see you.”

Yoongi frowned at Jimin. He didn’t remember anyone telling him they were going to stop by his work, and couldn’t think of a reason for them to.

“What girl?” He asked, and Jimin shrugged.

“No idea, but she’s been staring at her feet the whole time. I tried to ask her why she was here, but she just said she was here to see you.” Jimin gestured toward the front of the restaurant. “She’s over there.”

Yoongi sighed. “What kind of person wouldn’t even give you a name—“ He stopped talking as he walked closer. You were sitting, staring at your toes—something you definitely did not have last night—wiggling them in wonder.

“Do you know her?” Jimin asked quietly, putting a hand on Yoongi’s shoulder.

“Yeah, I just—I don’t know what she’s doing here. Give us a minute, okay?”

Jimin nodded, and Yoongi made his way over to you. You noticed him approaching, and smiled brightly at him.

“Yoongi! I was so worried that maybe you weren’t here tonight, or that you didn’t want to talk to me, or—don’t faint.”

Yoongi must have looked dizzy—he felt dizzy—and he sat on the bench next to you.

“But you’re…You’re not…You have feet.” Yoongi had just come to terms with you being a mermaid, and now he finds out that you aren’t one? It was all a little disconcerting.

“I know, isn’t it horrible?” Your smile had faded.

“What?” Yoongi really didn’t understand what was happening.

“My father found out about me talking to you.” You sighed.

“The sea king?” Yoongi clarified.

“One of them.” You corrected. “We got in a fight, and he took my tail away.”

“That… Doesn’t make sense.” Yoongi said weakly.

“Do anyone’s parents make sense?” You asked, raising an eyebrow. “I think he’ll let me return to the sea soon, but I don’t know what to do until then. I was hoping you could help me?”

Other people might have accused you of lying about being a mermaid in the first place, that perhaps this was all a scam. But Yoongi knew deep down that wasn’t the case. He had seen the complete wonder in your eyes as he talked about living on land, had even touched your tail. There was always something so genuine about you that he didn’t question it.

“Of course. What can I do?”

“I just need somewhere to sleep, I won’t bother you for anything else.” You assured him, and Yoongi frowned down at your feet.

“You can stay with me. I live in a group house, so there’ll be other people around, but it’s safe. I’ll sleep on the couch, I don’t mind. You’ll need shoes. And some actual clothes. This—“ He pulled the sleeve of the bathing suit cover. “Wouldn’t work even if it did fit you.”

You shook your head. “I hate to ask all of this from you, Yoongi. I’ll pay you back, somehow. I promise. Also, what’s a couch?”

“I’ll explain, but first—why don’t we get you some shoes.”

You decided that you didn’t particularly care for the strange things humans wore on their feet called “flip-flops.” Not only were they difficult to walk in, they kept falling off.

“Sorry, I have a moped but I walked today… It would have saved your feet some trouble.”

“Is that a kind of shoe?” You asked, slipping your foot into the flip-flop for what felt like the millionth time that night.

Yoongi laughed slightly. “No, it’s a motorized scooter…” When you stared blankly at Yoongi, he tried a different explanation. “You know what a bike is, right?” You nodded, noticing something shiny on the ground and picking it up to study it.

“Yep, I see those a lot along the beach all the time.”

“It’s kind of similar to that, in a way. But you don’t have to pedal it, and the seat is different.”

“That sounds strange.” You said, flipping over the shiny thing. “What is this?” You asked, holding it out to Yoongi.

“A quarter. You can use it to buy things.”

“What kind of things?” You asked, walking ahead of him. You had no idea where you were going, so Yoongi didn’t know how you were so confident in the direction you were walking in.

“Clothes, shoes, food… Most things.”

You nodded thoughtfully as Yoongi caught up to you, then you reached over and took his hand. You turned it palm-up and placed the quarter in his hand, closing his fingers around it.

“For the flip-flops, and letting me stay with you.” You said, giving him a smile.

Yoongi shook his head, trying to return the coin to you. “You should keep it, you found it.”

“And now I’m giving it to you.” You said, shaking your head. “I have to pay you something, right?”

Yoongi couldn’t help his laugh. “You really don’t. But okay, if that’s what you want. Thank you.” He pocketed the quarter. “This is where I live, by the way.” He pointed to a tall house, painted a dark blue. It looked fairly well taken care of, but old, and there were patches on the roof.

“I like it.” You said happily, following him up the stairs and through the front door.

Yoongi had hoped that everyone would have already gone to bed, but Seokjin and Jungkook were playing a video game, elbowing and shoving each other on the couch occasionally.

“There’s food in the fridge if you’re hungry.” Seokjin said, not looking up.

“I’m surprised you’re back so early, I thought you had a date…” Jungkook stopped when he saw you, which made Seokjin look up as well. “Oh.”

“Don’t make too much noise, Taehyung has work first thing tomorrow morning.” Seokjin said, and Yoongi’s eyes widened.

“No, it’s not like that—she just needs somewhere to stay for tonight. Which means I’m going to need the couch.”

Jungkook tried to brush some chip crumbs (and who knows what else) as Seokjin nodded in understanding.

“Well in that case, welcome.” He stood, walking over to you with his hand outstretched. “My name is Seokjin, that’s Jungkook, and I can introduce you to everyone else in the morning. There’s food in the fridge if you’d like some, and let me know if you need anything.”

You leaned sideways toward Yoongi’s ear. “What’s a fridge?” You half-whispered.

“It’s a box that keeps things cold.” He replied, just as quietly. When Seokjin raised an eyebrow at him, he nodded his head to the side, indicating for the two of them to step away from you and Jungkook. “Can I talk to you for a second?”

“Yoongi, who is this girl?” Seokjin asked, watching as you walked over to the tv and tapped the screen.

“Someone I owe a lot to. Is it okay if she stays here for a few days?”

Seokjin glanced from you and back to Yoongi. “Did I hear her ask what a fridge was?”

Yoongi sighed. “She’s not… From here.”

“Yoongi? Why are there small people stuck in a box?” You asked, and Seokjin gave Yoongi a look.

“Not from here? Where is she from then?”

“Please, Seokjin. It’ll only be for a few days, I promise.” Yoongi said, avoiding the question. Seokjin was the owner of the house’s nephew, and had complete power to kick out anyone he wished.

“We’re already pretty full, Yoongi. Seven people in one house is a lot, and you want to add another?” At Yoongi’s silence, Seokjin sighed. “She doesn’t have anywhere else to stay?”

Yoongi shook his head. “I’m the only person she knows here. I can’t just leave her on the street.”

Seokjin sighed, looked up at the ceiling, and then back at Yoongi. “Okay. A few days. But then she either has to start paying rent, or move somewhere else.”

“Thanks Seokjin, I owe you.” Yoongi looked over to where you were now sitting with Jungkook happily eating Doritos. He caught you eye and smiled. “Come on, I’ll show you to where you’ll be staying.”

Yoongi found some of his clothes for you to wear, laying them on the bed as you wandered around the room.

“Being up this high doesn’t bother you?” You asked, looking out his window. It was only on the second floor, and heights had never particularly bothered Yoongi.

“I guess I never thought about it.” He said, glancing up as you stepped away from the window. “I’ll step out while you change, okay?” You agreed as he stepped out, pulling the door shut behind him.

Yoongi waited for what felt like forever in the hall, and was about to knock on the door and ask you if you were okay when he heard you scream.

“Are you okay? What happened?” Yoongi asked, opening the door and hurrying in. You walked out of the adjoining bathroom to look at him, your eyes wide. You were wearing his jeans and a hoodie, which already looked a bit strange because they didn’t fit. But you were also wet, as though you had been standing in the rain.

“Is everything alright?” Seokjin asked, peaking into the room, concern on his face.

“You have a waterfall in your house.” You said in wonder, pointing to the shower that was still running. Yoongi hurried past you to turn the water off, and sighed when he saw Seokjin’s face.

“Everything’s fine.” He said, walking back over to shut the door on the older man. “Good night, Seokjin.”

Yoongi only hoped that he could either think of a reasonable excuse for you in the morning, or that you would be gone soon. He guessed that too many questions probably weren’t the best idea for a once-mermaid-now-human who was trying to appear normal, and he was determined to help you. It was the least he could do after you saved his life. It was just going to be a bit complicated, that was all.

A/N Yay I updated finally! I was thinking about updating Disposable, but then I decided to update this instead. I only semi-proofread this, so I’ll check it again in the morning if I get the chance. Thank you for reading, I really appreciate all the positive feedback I’ve gotten! You all mean so much to me. <3 As always, let me know your thoughts and feelings on this! Reader might have a hard time fitting in, as well as convincing her father to let her return to the sea! <3 <3 <3

I’m still working on the family tree thing I talked about in this post.
But here are all of the descendants that is “official” part of this universe via book or series.

Let’s first go over the over the where they can come from (I’m gonna put them in timeline order):
Isle of the Lost: About how the rotten four became friends and basicly a closer look at the isle, you get introduces to a couple of the villain kids.
School of Secrets (series): A series of small videos that is about a “mystery” girl (Lonnie) who sets up a hidden camera to capture Auradon Prep’s secrets. there is 23 episodes each about 1 minute long, you can find them on Youtube.
Descendants
Wicked World:
Short animated series, don’t know how to explain the plot shortly. There are 33 episodes, but each one is less than five minutes long, you can find them on youtube.
School of Secrets (books): Haven’t read them yet, but they go together with Wicked World (used characters and references plots from it).
Return to the Isle of the Lost: The second book in the Isle of the Lost series; The Rotten Four get weird messages that tell them to return home before the new moon.
Rise of the Isle of the Lost: The third book in the series; you get the story on Mal and Uma fall out. And how Uma got a ship and why Harry in her first mate. And there are of course also some story in Auradone going on.

Looking at Moana and saying “It’s just the same story that Disney’s made before” is like looking at Starry Night and saying “It’s just a picture of the night sky.”

Yes, Moana is the story of a girl who wants to leave her home and controlling father and sneaks off with an animal sidekick to meet a magical companion and go on musical adventures before living happily ever after. And yes, Starry Night is a painting of a town and stars and a moon and a…mountain? Tree? The descent of the Dark Lord Chernabog in a plume of black flame?

But Starry Night is a night sky revered for its beauty. It’s a mix of dots and swirls of pigment, all woven together into one picture that ultimately ends up being Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Technically, anyone could replicate it with a late-night roadtrip and a Polaroid camera. Moana doesn’t use oils or pigments, but instead computer-generated images and an all-Pacific-Islander cast to tell the same story we’ve heard before. It’s a tribute to a culture, an inspiration to children, and a message that says “Hey, you’ve seen this story, but have you seen it like this?”

Yes, if you’ve watched Hercules, The Little Mermaid, Return of the Jedi, Lord of the Rings, Prince of Egypt, Pocahontas, Aladdin, The Neverending Story, Mad Max, Jaws, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, you’ve pretty much seen this movie. But you haven’t seen all of their story elements picked out and swirled back together like this before, using the oils of a Polynesian Disney Princess upon the canvas of a full-length feature.
