So, one of my Daedalochila auriculatas died. I decided to take his little shell and make a model of what he looked like in life. I used some Sculpty clay and some acrylic paints and made this. The body is a lot bigger than it would have been in life, but it was hard making such a little sculpture. I am probably going to give this is the manager of the malacology department where I volunteer. Daedalochilas are some of his favourite kinds of snails.

I’m pretty happy with how this came out, even though it isn’t to scale. I’m considering making little models with all the shells I come across, but it would be a lot of work. Would anyone be interested in buying these? They would have to be around $10-12 if I made them because this one took me a lot of time to make. It sure is cute though.
