like wtf even are you

  • (somewhere in a space rebel base idk)
  • Lance over the comms: Pidge come quick! We found your brother!!
  • Matt: ...... what the fuck's a pidge

fun fact for neurotypicals: a suicidal person can laugh and make jokes and do things that they enjoy and live and work and function all while still being suicidal. stop erasing our mental illnesses just because we don’t constantly act like we’re mentally ill.

in your anti kylo ren post you said we ""steal"" finn's personality and give it to kylo as though stealing the personality of a liar and a coward would actually be worth our time :)

I don’t know why, but for the last three times I’ve gone out to ice cream with my family (at three different ice cream parlors even, mind you) there’s always been a random ass white dude with a fuckin’ open carry pistol holstered to them, and I’m always like “Why the fuck you think you need that on you when you go to an ice cream shop? Are you honestly afraid someone’s gonna attack you or attack someone defenseless in a place like this? The worst thing that happens here is like, the crying two year old that’s upset they dropped their mint chocolate chip cone on the ground.”

(Also, if we’re gonna start normalizing carrying weapons into public places, I demand the rights to apply for a license to carry a sheathed bastard sword into public spaces. D: )

being in the supergirl fandom but not the supercorp fandom is wild like who the fuck is Katie McGrath??? has she ever pronounced her own name correctly?? does she even have a birthday or did she just appear one day??? what kind of bet did she lose to get that tattoo??? did she literally do anal in front of a dog??? these are things I may never know the answers to…

parallels in the ones who walk away from omelas

after actually reading the story i am here to analyze the parallels we see so far. im gonna assume you guys have seen the summaries because they are EVERYWHERE but basically the story centers around a utopian town called Omelas, who’s perfection relies on a singular miserable child. every citizen of Omelas knows this and must make the choice whether to stay knowing the cost of their happiness, or to leave and face whatever is out there.

in the description of the summer festival, it says the horses were adorned with “streamers of silver, gold, and green.” the concept photos must be from before they knew the truth, while they were happy at the festival.

in the teaser we see someone running out of a door (that kinda looks like a bus door to me), through the snow, and into the warm light of Omelas. “I incline to think that people from towns up and down the coast have been coming in to Omelas…on very fast little trains and double-decked trams.” i think the snow symbolizes the cold world outside the utopia of Omelas.

the rest of the similarities all happen in the last paragraph, when the narrator is describing the people who know the truth and choose to leave.

the first one is jungkook standing outside Omelas at nighttime, and all of them running between the buildings. “Night falls: the traveller must pass down village streets, between the houses with yellow-lit windows” and “…they walk ahead into the darkness”

next is jimin walking through the field, “They keep walking across the farmlands of Omelas.”

and lastly, all of them going out together. this is where the story and the video start to differ. in the story, it emphasizes that every traveller who leaves Omelas leaves alone. “Each alone, they go west or north, towards the mountains.” or “Each one goes alone, youth or girl man or woman.” clearly, this is not the case.

they are all walking together, determination in their eyes. “But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.”

Fan Bing Bing absolutely killing it and looking like an immaculate goddess at the Met Gala, meanwhile nearly everyone else entirely missed the theme memo.

Humans are odd

Okay, I have been reading a bunch of the humans are weird/humans are space orcs and I just thought…

What about all those odd little phrases that we have? Like, the aliens have gotten used to the fact that there are multiple languages and dialects and such, but what about those little words or phrases just used within one family or friend group?

Like, another way to say ‘going to your room’ for me might be ‘going to death’ or ‘back to the dungeon’. Or my family might say ‘donkey’ as a play on danke for ‘thank you’. Or I’ll say ‘good niggit’ instead of ‘good night’

And just like??? the aliens being so confused like ‘??? is this??? part of your dialect??? wtf are you even saying’

i was laughing with someone recently about “tumblr user unpr*tty” and this seems like a good time to remind people that there is literally no point in censoring yourself if you wanna talk shit because i can’t vanity search, if i try it’s nothing but tlc lyrics and a k-pop competition of some kind. this is also why you have to @ me if you wanna show me something and we’re not mutuals.

Do Japanese people understand the meaning of soulmates? Because I saw some tweets and people were confused and even disappointed. Like wtf? Anyway can you please write your own understanding of being soulmates?

I’m probably not the most qualified to answer this, so maybe @fencer-x wouldn’t mind chiming in a bit? But from what I know and have seen it looks like the concept of soulmates in Japan isn’t that different from the West. I don’t really feel comfortable getting into how extensive the Japanese understanding of soulmate is.

For what it’s worth, I have seen zero negative response on my TL. So, I’m not sure where those people are coming from.

As for me, personally? I feel fandom, as a general whole, not just any specific fandom, has sort of taken the idea of soul mate and made it something concretely romantic. However, the concept is that of someone who perfectly completes you, is your other half, and while that often has a romantic end, it’s not in the definition. A soul mate can be a romantic partner, most often the concept is used romantically, but it can also be a best friend.

Have you ever heard the What’s A Soulmate? audio? That’s basically my perfect definition of a soulmate.

As for Kubo’s use of soulmate and it being related to the rings Yuuri and Victor exchanged, that’s a pretty heavy romantic implication. The ring exchange scene itself is already clearly romantic and to try and say it’s just friendly is pretty ignorant, imo, especially with the knowledge that there is no discrimination of love in the YOI world. To say, on top of that, that those rings are a symbol that Yuuri and Victor are soulmates? That’s the romantic concept. Flat out. They are two pieces of one whole, souls meant for each other, a perfect union.
