Scavenger Hunt

Stiles/Derek, T, 2500 words, Meet Cute AU

Written for the following prompt:

“i picked up your bag at the airport but i can’t find your number so i’m about to embark on the largest scavenger hunt of all time by using your strange belongings to track you down” au

“Honey, I’m home!” Stiles calls out as he wrestles his roll bag over their entry mat.

“That’s still not funny,” Scott says, without looking up from his textbook.

“Once again, we disagree.”

Scott snorts. “How was the trip?”

“Fine,” he says, plopping down right in the middle of the living room to start unpacking. “Typical conference. Some sessions were actually interesting, most were boring as shit.”

Scott hums, already absorbed again in his reading. Stiles reaches for the zipper on his suitcase but then freezes—this is definitely the same brand as his suitcase, but he doesn’t remember this extra zippered pocket on the top.

“Oh, shit.”

“What?”

Stiles grimaces. “I’m pretty sure this isn’t my suitcase. Goddamn it.”

Scott finally looks up, frowning. “Shit, really? How’d you manage that?”

“It was a redeye,” Stiles says, running a hand through his hair. “I was exhausted, in fucking LaGuardia, and I was just trying to get out of there as fast as humanly possible.”

“Is there a name on it? Are you sure it’s not yours?”

“Pretty sure,” Stiles says, feeling around the sides for the pocket. He sighs when he pulls out the little card and sees that it’s blank. “Motherfucker. This is definitely not my suitcase because I’m actually smart enough to put my name on it.”

“Sorry, man,” Scott says sympathetically as Stiles falls back on the rug with an anguished groan.

“What the hell am I supposed to do now?”

“Open it,” Scott suggests. “Maybe there’s something with their name on it.”

Stiles fiddles with the zipper. He’s nosy as hell, in general, and normally he’d be jumping at the chance to rifle through someone else’s personal belongings. But…

“What if there’s like, dead bodies in there or something?” he asks, and Scott just stares at him for a second. Stiles rolls his eyes—that’s a perfectly valid concern. Or maybe he watches too many police procedurals, whatever. “Okay, fine.”

Stiles holds his breath as he slowly unzips the suitcase, but nothing happens when he lets the top part flop back onto their crappy, threadbare rug. There’s a Dodgers hat on top, and Stiles grimaces. “Well, they have shitty taste in baseball teams.”

He sets the hat carefully aside and keeps digging. The person is neat, whoever they are, because everything is folded, and all the dirty clothes are even all contained in their own zippered bag. At first glance, there’s nothing too out of the ordinary—phone charger, American Gods, Calvin Klein briefs. Fancy, he thinks. There’s a monogrammed leather toiletry bag (DSH, he commits those initials to memory), and he pokes through it.

“I’m gonna make an educated guess that it’s a guy.”

“Why’s that?” Scott says, finally looking somewhat interested in this mystery.

Stiles holds up an electric razor. “And that he’s maybe not totally straight,” he says, brandishing a little bottle of lube that’s about three-quarters full.

Scott rolls his eyes. “Lots of people use lube.”

“Yeah, but do you travel with it?” Stiles counters, and Scott sighs.

“No,” he admits. “Did you find anything with his actual name on it?”

“Not yet,” Stiles says absently. He continues to rifle through the bag until he’s pretty sure he has his plan of attack. “Okay. I’m gonna find out who it is,” he says with a determined nod, and Scott frowns.

“How? This is New York City! There are literally millions of dudes here.”

“It’ll be like a real-life scavenger hunt,” Stiles says dreamily, ignoring Scott as he carefully lays his three chosen items out on the coffee table. “This is awesome.”

alphaandhismate  asked:

Hey Rachel got a question for ya. Do you think Stiles would feel inadequate compared to all the buff sexy werewolves and push himself to the breaking point trying to look like he belongs? Cause I have this headcanon where he decides to work out to make himself look like he belongs beside the wolves but it doesn't work out to well and he winds up doing more harm than good. Which upsets Derek when he finds out (because he loves the idiot but he won't admit it)

Aw I can absolutely see this. Stiles, already prone to insecurity and the feeling of not being good enough, slowly being worn down by that itching knowledge in his skull of being that he’s not as strong as any of his friends, not as attractive as any of his friends, and sure as hell not as useful as any of them, right? Sure, he’s smart. He knows that. But what the hell use is that in battle? He can’t dive in front of a bullet to keep the others from hurting, can’t stand beside the others and fight at anything close to their level.

And no matter how much he smirks at enemies’ jibes and plays off as enjoying being the group’s token human (”means I get to leave all the heavy lifting to you guys, right?”) it’s a feeling that would keep building up over time, pushing at the back of his skull every time the pack insists he be left behind on a certain mission, that he should stay where he’s safe, or gets offhandedly told he’ll just slow the others down. Every time they go running out in the preserve and he gets to sit behind and watch the car. Every time he goes out with the group and finds himself wondering what he looks like in everyone else’s eyes: this circle of beautiful beyond belief, supernaturally perfect people and then… him.

He couldn’t share his worries with the others –– Scott would get that worried look in his eyes and insist Stiles is perfect the way he is. Lydia might not share the same speed and strength as the others but she’s always been supernaturally beautiful, and she’s got her own banshee tricks to help out in a fight. So he keeps it inside, bottles it up… and he starts to push himself. Stays after school lifting weights until his limbs are wrecked from it, goes out running until his legs are shaking under him. Thinking one more lift, one more mile, one step closer to belonging.

And it starts working, too. He’s able to keep up with the pack sometimes, on their more casual runs. He’s gaining muscle, losing any last hints of baby fat. But there are hollowed shadows under his eyes too and he’s not eating enough, probably, but that’s fine. It’s fine when he wrestles with Liam and ends up with a purpled bruise blooming out across his ribs from a too-hard tackle. It’s fine that he can’t really sleep anymore because his muscles are always burning. It’s fine because he’s started looking at pictures of the group after pack events and almost seeing a group of people who fit together, not a handful of perfect people around a lanky, awkward him. Who the hell wouldn’t sacrifice a little comfort and the ability to lift his arms above his head for that?

.-

Derek’s the one who notices first, because of course he is. Drops in through the bedroom window one night like the supernatural stalking creeper he used to be, and finds Stiles collapsed to an exhausted heap against the side of his bed. Too tired and too sore to have stripped off his sweat-stained shirt or make it the extra step to lay down on it. He forces a smile when he spots Derek, but it’s more pained than it should be. Wavers at the edges. Derek ignores his opening jibe, doesn’t comment on the way Stiles tries to push himself up on unsteady palms and falters, a spasm of motion that starts and dies just as fast. Just moves silent, sits down next to him on the floor at the foot of the bed. There’s a world of words in his silence, a disapproving air Stiles can feel deep in his bones, and he finds himself saying “I’m fine,” low and head ducked, like it’s a lie.

It’s not a lie. But it’s not exactly true either, is it?

Derek’s eyes are on Stiles’ face now, flicking down his damp shirt, over his faintly trembling limbs, and it’s like he’s seeing too much suddenly, seeing through walls Stiles is too tired to pull up. People aren’t supposed to see him at this point in the day; they’re supposed to see him in the morning when he has the energy to grin and bounce and keep up with the rest of them like it’s effortless. They’re not supposed to see the tired bruises under his eyes or the way he shakes from hours of trying to hold himself at a werewolf’s level.

He wets his lips, a flash of frustration burning bitter through him.

“Look, I’m not strong like you guys.” It’s not news. It’s been a constant refrain for the past two years of his life, ever since Scott was bit and turned into a superhero sports star girl magnet and left Stiles standing awkwardly in his dust. Stiles couldn’t ask for the bite, Scott wouldn’t understand. And he doesn’t think he wants it either, not really. He doesn’t want the claws or the anchors or the pulls to the moon. He just wants to be able to keep up with them. Wants to not be the funny one in a group of supermodels. Doesn’t want to be the weak one in a group of heroes. Doesn’t want to be the one holding them back.

He bites over a frustrated sound, frowns at Derek’s faintly pinched brows, manages to lift one bone-dead arm and snaps out even more harshly: “I’m not… hot.”

It’s not the whole issue, it barely touches the issue, but it’s too much already and he scowls after he says it, daring Derek to snort or mock him or roll his eyes and agree, obviously, but that searching look only seems to sink deeper and Derek murmurs, “You’re wrong.”

Which is just… it’s worse than laughing. Because Stiles could handle people dismissing him, mocking him. He’s used to that. What he can’t take is Derek fucking Hale feeling so goddamned bad about his patheticness that he’s reduced to lying to try and comfort him.

“Oh, right, sure. I’m hot. You guys are all freaking Greek gods with all the muscle and the… faces.” He snorts, falling back against an overworked spine that protests the pressure. “You can’t even talk. You’ve always been the hottest person ever. You’ve got no idea what it’s like to be the one no one ever wants.”

Derek’s eyes flick down Stiles again, reassessing, and Stiles winces over the realization that Derek’s trying to find something, anything likable on his wiry frame.

Don’t––” He starts, because he physically cannot handle that, but Derek’s saying “You’re wrong,” again, and it’s soft and warm in a way that doesn’t sound like pity.

But Stiles doesn’t let himself feel it. The “oh yeah?” he shoots back is sure and challenging, almost smug in its confidence because maybe he’s not beautiful beyond all reason like the man next to him, maybe he’s not strong and desirable and wanted but at least he’s smart enough to realize that.

Derek lets out a growl of frustration and turns where he’s sitting, crowds in close with palms pressed to either side of Stiles’ thigh, and Stiles is on the edge of rolling his eyes because does Derek seriously think he can intimidate Stiles into changing his mind about himself, but then “you’re wrong” falls out a third time, a too-warm growl of a whisper, and Derek closes the space between their lips.

Stiles loses his conviction in the contact.

Derek’s hands move over him while they kiss, dragging soothing tips and scolding pinches over his wrecked muscles in ways that leave him groaning, touches sinking you’re beautiful and you’re wanted under his skin in ways the best words probably never could. Hands trail down to play across Stiles’ fingers, silently praising the cleverness of them. Beard-rough lips drift up to kiss across his temple and a warmth of admiration seems to melt into him with each press. And Stiles can barely move, arms aching protest as he lifts them to thread into Derek’s hair, body quivering in ways that shift between exhaustion and want.

When Derek finally leans back Stiles whimpers, wanting more but too worn down to chase him. But Derek’s watching him from inches away in the dark room, and there’s no reflected flaws in those dark eyes now. Just you’re beautiful, you’re wanted. You’re important

Stiles runs light thumbs down Derek’s beard, lets out a light laugh he barely recognizes.

“Guess I believe you,”

(And from now on, on nights when the pack goes out running, Stiles and Derek find a more interesting way to occupy themselves by the cars.)

Coming Home (Derek/Stiles)

Anonymous said: Derek/Stiles “That wasn’t very subtle.”

Nonnie, I hope you enjoy this story! I was in the mood for something romantic and fluffy. This is Fic #40 in my 2017 Prompt Challenge

Coming Home. Derek/Stiles. Teen. Also on AO3.

Stiles has been out of town for three weeks due to work, but now he’s home and ready to see Derek.

It’s been three weeks since Stiles has been to Derek’s apartment. No, not quite that. More like eighteen days, but it feels like a lot longer. He’s gotten used to spending most of his time here since he started dating Derek several months ago because Stiles is still living with his dad.

Well, not really still since he did move out for college, then he had the FBI training to deal with, and he got assigned to a field office in Philadelphia after he finished with that. It’s only been six months since he got reassigned to the resident agency in Redding, which would seem like a demotion on paper, but it’s actually a really awesome promotion.

5. Being Attacked by Bugs

So andavs is not quite ready to post her art version yet (we already checked, the mind meld factor is not high…), but I wanted to put this up because it is a special gift for obriensnipples! Primarily as a belated birthday present, because she wanted Derek mowing the lawn shirtless but also because rough times suck and I hope this fic helps with that even if only a little bit!

So this next Not Quite Normal OTP challenge is for you, babe! I hope it brightens your day a little bit!

*^*^*^

Stiles’ summer vacation does not start out well. In fact, it starts out pretty poorly.

Okay, really, it’s a fucking disaster.

Because, Stiles is walking out of Beacon Hills High, officially a Junior now that the final bell has rung, and he’s talking to Scott who keeps insisting that Junior year will be the year that he will finally ask Allison out and Scott has fallen behind to stare at her and Stiles keeps walking because Scott will catch up eventually, though Stiles is keeping an eye on him, and-

Well, that’s when he gets hit by a car.

Not just any car, though. No, when Stiles regains consciousness and manages to blink away the dark spots that take up 90% of his vision, he finds himself staring at the front of a black Camaro.

And the only black Camaro in Beacon Hills belongs to…

“Oh my god.” Derek Hale.

Derek Hale, the now-senior lacrosse player and subject of almost all of Stiles’ dirtiest fantasies.

He groans. And it’s only partly from the pain.

“Fuck.”

“Stiles!” Scott sounds frantic. “I’m calling an ambulance.”

“I don’t need,” Stiles tries. And then stops. Because he looks down to see his leg covered in blood and he has never liked blood and- well, he doesn’t complain when Scott stands up with the phone pressed to his ear.

“I’m sorry!” Derek Hale is saying and he sounds… angry? This is not how Stiles wanted his first interaction with Derek Hale to go. “You just- you just walked right into the road!”

“Dude,” Stiles replies, rubbing at his eye. “Are you really blaming me for this?”

“Not blaming you, I just- you walked right in front of me!”

“You hit me with your car!” Stiles winces at the sounds of his own voice. It’s too loud. Everything is too loud.

When he opens his eyes again, Derek’s eyebrows are draw together in concern.

“I’m sorry,” Derek repeats. It’s probably just the result of Derek’s ridiculously attractive face and Stiles’ epic crush on the kid, but Stiles forgives him instantly. Even though he’s getting colder by the second and he’s pretty sure that’s not a good thing.

“Don’t worry about it,” he says, waving a hand and regretting it when the motion hurts his leg somehow. “I’m sure I’m fine.”

Fic: Creeper

Summary: Dan and Phil meet for the first time
Word Count: 1,869
Rating: G
Tags: 2009 Phan, Fluff, First Meeting, Awkwardness
Author’s Note: This fic was inspired by how simultaneously provocative and innocent Dan seems in the “AmazingDan” video (even though that wasn’t filmed until 2010). Combine that with how young he was and his constant insistence that he is painfully awkward, and I thought his first meeting with Phil probably wasn’t as instantly easy as most fics portray it.

[Chronological list of all fic posts in the Creeper series]

Creeper

Phil hunches his shoulders a bit, not exactly hiding behind a pillar but just standing … really close to a pillar. And maybe a little behind it. Just a bit. But definitely not hiding. Definitely not hiding like some creeper waiting to meet up with a teenage boy he met on the Internet.

He’s never done this before, actually arranging to meet one of his subscribers in real life. Dan has become more than just a subscriber to him over the past few months, of course, but he can’t deny that the … relationship? friendship? … began with Dan stalking his videos and hounding him on Twitter like so many other subscribers had done before. Phil’s had plenty of admirers as his subscriber base grew over the years, and a lot of them flirted with him, some outright propositioned him, but he was never tempted to take any of them up on their offers.

It’s just … Dan is … different.

But Phil can’t deny the power imbalance. He knows he’s a well-known personality, even if only in a limited little sphere of the Internet. His YouTube channel has thousands of subscribers. Tens of thousands. He gets fan mail. Lots of it. Weird as it sounds to him sometimes, he has … fans.

And Dan is one of them.

And he’s only 18.

And Phil, AmazingPhil from the Internet, has invited this teenage fan to come stay at his house. Overnight. For three days. While his parents are away.

Yeah, it sounds creepy. Which makes him incredibly self-conscious. What in the world do Dan’s parents think about this? Phil hasn’t asked, because he doesn’t want to mess this up.

Because, despite the power imbalance, he’s really excited and nervous to meet Dan.

I just watched Megamind.

Considering that the villain was a Nice Guy*TM, the girl wasn’t dating the “official” Hero in the first place and when she did get involved it was with the guy she was having adventures with as equals, not a dashing rescuer…

I’m REALLY confused as to how fucking Frozen is the animated film that got declared “feminist.”

anonymous asked:

HELP! So I've been an avid sterek shipper for the past 2 years and they are definitely my self-proclaimed OTP, but recently, I have begun to lose interest in it, and I'm sadly becoming numb to it... is there anything I can do to respark that love for them???

//Anon, I am sorry to hear that :( Sometimes, that happens. We move on, even from things we love. But if you want to respark your love, I will try to help.

The main thing I do to keep my love alive is to separate the pairing from the fandom and the show. That helps me the most. I love Stiles and Derek. Sure, I love TW and the other characters, but the reason I’m obsessed with anything is Sterek. I love Derek’s stupid face and his grumpy eyebrows and his tough exterior and his soft yet resilient interior. I love Stiles’ stupid face and his beautiful eyes and his ramblings and his idgaf attitude unless he loves you, and you better watch out if he loves you bc he will burn down the WHOLE WORLD to protect you.

Maybe you need a good fic. When I get on a string of blah fics, I lose interest. But a good fic, that period where you are pulled in and you can’t stop reading about these two idiots falling in love for the 239802394th time…it’s magical. I can rec you fics if you want, fics that make me love the pairing. Or you can go trope hunting, which is what I do a lot. I want…historical! I want sports! I want coffeeshops! I want college! I want kids! I want deputies, prostitutes, slaves, amnesia, magic!stiles, human!derek, high school…there are so many possibilities. Find fics instead of relying on rec lists. Read outside of your comfort zone. I think sometimes ppl get stuck reading only what they like and don’t branch out and find new fics that can be exciting bc it’s different. I read two fics recently that are not usually my thing. One had a lot of pot smoking, the other was hate sex/enemies to lovers. Neither are my tropes and I usually avoid them. But they were recced to me highly, so I gave them a try. And I LOVED both of them. They were different than what I usually read, but it helped me get excited and think about the pairing in a different way. Read a long fic, esp if you avoid them. I avoid long fics a lot of times bc I’m a slow reader and have limited time. But some of the best fics I’ve read are over 100k. Read short fics. I don’t read much under 10k, but there are some great short fics that can give you a quick fix.

I guess where I find the most feels for Sterek is when I think about them together in ways I want to see. I write fic, so I do this a lot, but I have friends who don’t write fic who come up with ideas all the time. I just love thinking about Derek and Stiles’ lives, in so many different ways.

Like, I like to think about them being domestic, coming home from long days at work and bickering over who didn’t do the dishes the night before and what to watch after dinner. Taking baths together and washing each other’s backs and pressing each other against slippery bathroom walls and dropping to their knees to blow each other right in the shower. Derek helping Stiles keep from getting too obsessed with anything and practice moderation, and Stiles helping Derek learn to open up and accept that he deserves good things, like a partner and a house and a Pack and a family. Waking up together and snuggling together, maybe lazy morning handjobs while they’re kissing and don’t even care about morning breath. Derek being there with Stiles in the hospital when his dad goes in for something, and Stiles going to Derek’s family’s plots to put flowers on their graves. Derek sitting in the car while Stiles goes to his mother’s grave and refusing to listen as Stiles talks to her. Stiles and Cora ganging up on Derek when they play board games, watch television, choose a restaurant, or do anything really, but Derek doesn’t mind bc he loves that Cora loves Stiles and just stares in awe as Stiles interacts with her like he’s known her his whole life. He thinks about how his mother and father would have loved Stiles, and how he wishes his family could have known him. He thinks about Stiles laughing with Laura and running through the woods with his human siblings, imagines his mom watching them with tears in her eyes bc she’s so happy for them. Stiles sometimes hovers in the doorway when Derek and his father are standing in the kitchen cooking together, or sitting on the back porch drinking beers, or sitting in the living room watching baseball games. Stiles knows that Derek can sense him, but Derek never lets on, just keeps talking to the sheriff. And Stiles can see the love and pride that the sheriff has in his eyes when he looks at Derek, and there was a time he thought he’d be jealous, but he’s not jealous, oh no. He’s so fucking happy because he loves Derek so much and Derek deserves someone to be a father figure, even though he knows it’ll never replace his own father. But he sees the way Derek almost craves the sheriff’s touch on his shoulder, his approval, the way Derek’s chest almost puffs up when the sheriff calls him “son” and the way Derek just lights up when the sheriff hugs him. He never thought his dad would accept Derek, but he’s adopted him like a second son. And they grow old together, get gray and get wrinkles, and they’re still sneaking off to blow each other in public bathrooms and pulling over on the side of the road for a quick handjob at 50 bc if anything, they’re more in love at 50 than at 25, and they’re both in such good places, with adopted kids and a strong Pack and it’s good, and Derek’s accepted it.

Or maybe Derek shows up in DC after Stiles moves there for school. He’s there bc he’s been making his way across the united states and now he’s stopping in DC, and he catches Stiles’ scent on the street and thinks, no, this can’t be Stiles. But he follows it one day, and sure enough, sitting at a table on the quad of a college campus, surrounded by stacks of books and clicking away on a laptop is Stiles. And Derek watches him like a creeper and feels something he can’t put into words- is maybe too scared to put into words - and then he leaves bc he doesn’t want to disrupt Stiles’ life. But Stiles, of course, befriends the wolves on campus and ends up at a full moon pack party and guess who is there? Derek fucking Hale, all long limbs and Henleys and scruff and Stiles is just fucking angry, but happy to actually see him, so he acts cool and sarcastic, and the other wolves are confused about what’s going on, which is to say NOTHING about the confusion Derek and Stiles feel, and they aggressively snipe at each other for weeks when they HAPPEN to cross paths (bc Derek just happens to go to the coffee shop and public library near campus, and Stiles just happens to pester his wolf friends to invite him to things) and after weeks of being sarcastic shits and angry at each other, Derek ends up pressed against the brick wall in a side street bc Stiles pushed him against it and just kisses him stupid and they’re pretty sure they would have rubbed off on each other right there against the brick wall if someone hadn’t said something as they walked by. But they end up kicking out Stiles’ roommate and fucking each other into the mattress and Stiles doesn’t even care when his roommate comes back and gets an eyefull of Derek’s glorious ass bc he just tapped that ass all night long.

But maybe you want to think about them in AUs, like Derek as a baseball player and Stiles the batting coach, and they spend hours together training and have sweaty sex in the locker room. Or maybe they’re both turn of the century lords in fancy houses who need to get married bc it’s their duties, but they’re in love with one another so they’re sneaking around at London balls just to have a moment to kiss each other or to hold hands. Or maybe Derek is a mermaid and Stiles is a marine biologist who saves him from a net he’s been caught in, and Derek is terrified of him, but Stiles is like “dude, I just want to observe you for science!” and they fall in love as Stiles learns about merpeople but he never betrays Derek’s confidence, even when Derek introduces him to all his merfamily and Stiles could change science forever.

You may be ready to move on. You may pick up a new fandom or love, but you can still love Sterek. My first otp was Harry/Ron from harry potter, and I still love them though I’m not as active in the fandom.I still read fic sometimes. I’ve currently been obsessed with Downton Abbey and took a sterek reading/writing break, but I plan on writing again soon. Sometimes we need a breather just to renew our love.

Most of all, just remember that you love that grumpy werewolf and that rambling human, and despite all their bickering, they love each other and care about each other and will protect each other.

Request:  Hello :) can you do a Namjoon songfic based off Embarrassed (Blanket Kick)? I loved Namjoon’s line there, “I was too shy to be your sun so I became a cold moon.” :) Thanks!

Genre: Fluff

There were many things in life that were easy for Namjoon; you never fell into that category. Maybe it was that way in which the flirty swaying of your skirt with your walking made him a little crazier inside, making him feel bashful of the childish and rushed beating of his heart whenever his eyes got lost into the seemingly infinite length of your legs, which wasn’t childish at all, his thoughts were way far from it and he only hoped you hadn’t noticed any of that.

But it was definitely weird the way he acted around you, whenever you threw a smile to his way and he tried to not be embarrassed for not knowing how to react. You were just so pretty, so special, all shiny eyes and silky hair and how could he compete for that? It was as if you were in some sort of different level, way out of his league. Unreachable, like the stars you stared at the majority of the nights from your window.

Namjoon had observed you from afar the few nights he was given the chance, you’d moved right in front of his house, your bedroom’s window at perfect sight, so whenever you sat there with your little notebook and staring up at the starry night sky, Namjoon’s eyes wouldn’t leave your form. He felt like a creeper sometimes, and there were others, when he wouldn’t think about what he was doing because he was too focused on you.

You would wrap yourself with a fluffy blanket, and Namjoon would feel himself smile, urging him and not for the first time, to take his own notebook to scribble lyrics about a girl who loved the night despite being able to glow from within like sunlight itself did.

Creeper (Part 1)

Creeper (Part 2)

They sit side by side on the floor in Phil’s bedroom. The only light is from the street lamp down the road, shining distantly in through the window. Dan said he was afraid of the dark, but that he wasn’t afraid as long as Phil was with him, and Phil’s dimly lit bedroom feels cozy and intimate. The bed would be too intimate right now, but sitting on the floor together, talking in hushed tones despite the emptiness of the house, is perfect.

Like the day, which had been perfect as well.

To be honest, the Sky Bar was a little out of Phil’s extremely limited price range, but he knew Dan would love it, and he did, so it was worth it. It was the grand finale for their first day together, and it had definitely been grand. Phil had never been there before, himself, and he’d been impressed and a little intimidated by the poshness, but Dan had been transfixed. He’d stared round at the incredible city view like a little kid, but only about half the time. The other half of the time, he stared at Phil instead, looking just as fascinated. And Phil couldn’t look away.

Masterlist for these imagines

A couple days had passed since you watched Tangled with Bucky and Wanda. You were working out in the gym by yourself when you saw Steve walk in. Not paying any attention, you continued jogging on the machine. You kept catching Steve glancing at you while you jogged, and you stopped the machine, pulling out your headphones. “What’s up, Rogers?” You asked, panting a little from running. “Nothin.” He shrugged. It felt like the longest awkward silence of your life. You were about to put your earbud back in when he decided to speak up. “How are you and Buck?” He asked.

Your heart fluttered and your stomach got butterflies at the very mention of his name. Buck. Bucky. James. All his names gave you a fluttery feeling you had a love-hate relationship with. You shrugged. “I-I um.. I don’t know, we’re good, I guess?” You replied. “You guess?” He chuckled. “I don’t know, Rogers!” You retorted, cheeks now pink. He chuckled at your flustered-ness. “He likes you, ya know.” He commented. You blushed. Your cheeks felt like they were on fire. “Sure, Rogers.” You replied, starting to put your headphones back in. “He really does.” He said. You put your headphones in, starting your music and starting the machine again. “Yep. Totally believe you.”

You finished, heading upstairs to your room to shower. You saw Bucky watching tv, and he looked at you, smiling. You blushed, kinda doing that speed jogging thing up the stairs. You entered your room, kicking off your shoes. ‘Did he actually smiled at me?!’ You thought. 'I look like a hot mess, literally! Oh my god!’  You mentally slapped yourself, grabbing your phone. You turned on a new song you got into recently, and got in the shower.

He headed upstairs, when he heard the sound of water coming from your room. And, singing? He felt like he was being a creeper, but your door was kinda open. “You know, I love it, when the music’s loud, But c'mon, strip that down for me, baby.” Your voice came from outside the bathroom door. He chuckled, leaning on the door as he listened. She’s not bad. He thought to himself. He was snapped out his thoughts when Steve popped up behind him. “Whatcha doin, Buck?” He asked, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow. “Shit, Steve, you scared me.” He cursed. Steve chuckled. “Get lost on your way to your room? Cuz this is y/n’s room.” Steve said, smirking. Bucky blushed. “N-nothing, I-I’ll just,” he motioned with his thumb, “just go now.”

You came out of the shower, humming as you got dressed, putting on some comfy, grey pajamas shorts with a red long sleeve and some fuzzy socks. You checked your phone, seeing a text.

MESSAGES:

Barnes 🙄❤️:

Come downstairs. -B.

You looked at the message, confused. You threw your hair up in a messy bun, walking downstairs with a blanket around your shoulders. You walked downstairs, seeing a giant blanket on the couch, your favorite soda and candy laid out on the table. You walked downstairs, mouth formed in a tiny “o”. A Disney movie was playing on the tv. “How’d you? You did? All this?” You asked, walking up to him. He grinned, his hands shoved in the front pockets of his sweats. “I did. With some help from Steve. And Wanda, of course.” You smiled. “You even put on The Little Mermaid.” He grinned. You sat down, and he sat down next to you.

JARVIS started the movie, and you rested your head on Bucky’s chest. You felt him wrap an arm around you, as the movie continued. The part when Ariel met Eric came up, and you sat up a little bit with excitement. “I love this part.” You smiled. He grinned at your excitement. They were in the boat, as kiss the girl started. You hummed, as Bucky watched you. Your excitement was so pure and full of happiness, and he loved that what he did was making you happy.

The ending came quicker than you thought, and Ariel was getting married. You smiled. You loved how Ariel would’ve done anything for Eric. Yes, it was cheesy and dumb at times. But, they loved each other. “I wish I was a princess.” You sighed dreamily. “Your my princess.” He whispered.

“W-what?” You said, looking at him. “You… wanna go out with me? Maybe?” He asked, a gentle smile on his face. His blue eyes were a little brighter than before, more excited.

“Of course I would.”

Friend, thank u so much, I've never heard anyone question Sokolov like?? Had him pegged as a creeper at best in DH but he was useful so w/e, but we're supposed the care in 2? Between the merderous inventions, the Outsider's "he performs disgusting rituals", and Delilah heavily implying he took advantage of her when she was young... mm. MMM. No. Maybe he's a toothless old man now, but that everyone was buddies with him made me entirely uncomfortable. Can i at least be rude to him. Game, plz.

You’re welcome! I know for certain that I’m not the only person uncomfortable/angry with this whole Sokolov thing, but I haven’t seen people discussing it much neither. My guess would be that there is part of the fandom that jumped in from the second game and may believe this weird framing Arkane went with and people who remember what a sleazeball Sokolov really is just prefer to sweep it under the rug and focus on parts of the sequel that are enjoyable (like Emily being 100% badass).

Seriously I have so much dirt on Sokolov that if I wanted to list it all this post would become unbearably long. But in my reading Sokolov was clearly one of the villains of dh1 along with Burrows, Campbell and Daud. Actually I’m not a fan of the whole Loyalists betrayal plot point, because it takes attention away from the 4 guys I mentioned above. Because dishonored was a story about selfish assholes who made life miserable for others while cozying things up for themselves, which is painfully realistic type of bad guys. And now dh2 telling me that I should throw all of that out off the window and believe in redemption arc that consist only of warming your ass in Serkonos? It feels insulting.

And I would like to point out some of the ways devs managed to make this whole ordeal extra uncomfortable:

  • presenting Sokolov as the old and weak, he was kidnapped and hurt, in this game he is at clear disadvantage, they are using our natural empathy to sneak in their forced narrative, which feels pretty manipulative
  • biased framing; oh god, this one is so painful to look at, because it feels like writers both remember that he was awful, but at the same they already decided to present him the certain way, so they are standing on their heads to smooth things out or present them as not as bad, or even good. this is a really clear example:

[Sokolov’s] buzzing and glowing devices kept me safe

aka invention helps our protagonist = GOOD

while in Jindosh’s case his invention helps our antagonists = BAD (nice ableist slur there too, I wish dishonored wasn’t like that, goD)

the funny thing is that without this emotional narration I can tell you that both of Sokolov’s and Jindosh’s inventions are exactly the same thing: violent security mechanism, available primarily to the wealthy. I remind you that Anton’s wall of light, arc pylon and tallboys were the means that Burrows used to maintain his authoritarian power

who would have thought that having it turned against you would actually feel bad

  • okay rant almost over, now cherry on the top, some of the things that writers threw into dh2 to show Sokolov as more sympathetic OUTRIGHT CONTRADICT what we got to experience in dh1

there is a line from the Heart (aka device that is supposed to know the deepest truths about people so we are supposed to be able to trust it completely) in dh2: “In his dreams, he sees the names and faces of every subject he experimented on in the name of progress.”

that’s nice but we could see him interacting one of his subjects and we have this fun audiograph bit: As for test subject 312, after the characteristic sloughing of the skin, she should be dead by mid-morning tomorrow.

he didn’t even know their names and referring to someone by a number alone suggest he barely seen them as human. isn’t that something that The “I’ll say all your dirt out loud” Heart would rather comment on?
