  • Iverson(To Lance): You need to take things far more seriously! You need to learn some damn responsibility boy! You should be more like Keith! Model student he is
  • Lance: Yes sir *rolls his eyes at Hunk when he isn't looking*
  • *Later*
  • Lance: ugh I just don't see what's so good about Keith! Why does Iverson insist I should be like him? Ew
  • Hunk: Well, you do need to take things more seriously
  • Lance: What?! As serious as Keith, Christ look at him!
  • Keith, who is staring at the chicken nugget he just dropped: I think this is the saddest thing that's ever happened to me
  • Shiro, unimpressed: Keith you're literally an orphan
  • Keith: fuck off

the-spockicorn  asked:

Hi, I’ve been considering starting a book in the fantasy genre. I really wanted to give some Native American representation in it, since it's something that I rarely see. However, this story wouldn't take place in America, it would be in a completely different world (though one loosely based off of earth in the 14 hundreds ish?) This is similar to your mixing cultures post, but I wanted to know: is there a good way to give Native American representation in stories that aren’t historical fiction?

Representing PoC in Fantasy When Their Country/Continent Doesn’t Exist

The core of this question is something we’ve gotten across a few different ethnicities, and it basically boils down to: “how can I let my readers know these people are from a certain place without calling them by this certain place?” Aka, how can I let people know somebody is Chinese if I can’t call them Chinese, or, in your case, some Native American nation without having a North America.

Notes on Language

As I have said multiple times, there is no such thing as “Native American culture”. It’s an umbrella term. Even if you are doing fantasy you need to pick a nation and/or confederacy.

Step One

How do you code somebody as European?

This sounds like a very silly question, but consider it seriously.

How do you?

They probably live in huts or castles; there are lords and kings and knights; they eat stew and bread and drumsticks; they celebrate the winter solstice as a major holiday/new year; women wear dresses while men wear pants; there are pubs and farms and lots of wheat; the weather is snowy in winter and warm in summer.

Now swap all those components out for whatever people you’re thinking about.

Iroquois? They live in longhouses; there is a confederacy and democracy and lots of warriors from multiple nations; they eat corn, beans, and squash (those three considered sacred and grown together), with fish and wild game; they wear mostly leather garments with furs in winter; there are nights by the fire and cities and the rituals will change by the nation (remember the Iroquois were a confederacy made up of five or six tribes, depending on period); the weather is again snowy in winter and warm in summer.

Chinese? They harvest rice; there is an emperor appointed by the gods and scholars everywhere; they use a lunar calendar and have a New Year in spring; their trade ships are huge and their resources are plenty; they live in wood structures with paper walls or mud brick; they use jade and ivory for talismans; their culture is hugely varied depending on the province; their weather is mostly tropical, with monsoons instead of snow on lowlands, but their mountains do get chilly.

You get the gist.

Break down what it is that makes a world read as European (let’s be honest, usually English and Germanic) to you, then swap out the parts with the appropriate places in another culture.

Step Two

Research, research, research. Google is your friend. Ask it the questions for “what did the Cree eat” and “how did Ottoman government work.” These are your basics. This is what you’ll use to figure out the building blocks of culture.

You’ll also want to research their climate. As I say in How To Blend Cultures, culture comes from climate. If you don’t have the climate, animals, plants, and weather down, it’ll ring false.

You can see more at So You Want To Save The World From Bad Representation.

Step Three

Start to build the humans and how they interact with others. How are the trade relations? What are the internal attitudes about the culture— how do they see outsiders? How do outsiders see them? Are there power imbalances? How about greed and desire to take over?

This is where you need to do even more research on how different groups interacted with others. Native American stories are oftentimes painful to read, and I would strongly suggest to not take a colonizer route for a fantasy novel.

This does, however, mean you might not be researching how Natives saw Europeans— you’ll be researching how they saw neighbours.

You’ll also want to look up the social rules to get a sense for how they interacted with each other, just for character building purposes.

Step Four

Sensitivity readers everywhere! You’ll really want to get somebody from the nation to read over the story to make sure you’ve gotten things right— it’s probably preferable to get somebody when you’re still in the concept stage, because a lot of glaring errors can be missed and it’s best to catch them before you start writing them.

Making mistakes is 100% not a huge moral failing. Researching cultures without much information on them is hard. So long as you understand the corrections aren’t a reflection on your character, just chalk them up to ignorance (how often do most writers get basic medical, weapon, or animal knowledge wrong? Extremely often).

Step Five

This is where you really get into the meat of creating people. You’ve built their culture and environment into your worldbuilding, so now you have the tools you need to create characters who feel like part of the culture.

You’ll really want to keep in mind that every culture has a variety of people. While your research will say people roughly behave in a certain way, people are people and break cultural rules all the time. Their background will influence what rules they break and how they relate to the world, but there will be no one person who follows every cultural rule down to the letter.

Step Six

Write!

Step Seven

More sensitivity readers! See step 4 for notes.

Step Eight

Rewrite— and trust me, you will need to. Writing is rewriting.

Repeat steps seven and eight until story is done.

Extra Notes

I’ll be honest— you’re probably going to need a certain amount of either goodwill (if you’re lucky enough to make friends within the group you’re trying to represent— but seriously, please do not make friends with us for the sole purpose of using us as sensitivity readers. It’s not nice) and/or money to get to publishing level.

The good part is the first three steps are free, and these first three steps are what will allow you to hurt others less when you approach. While you’ll still likely make mistakes, you’ll make a few less (and hopefully no glaring ones, but it can/does happen) so long as you do your due diligence in making sure you at least try to understand the basics.

And once you feel like you’ve understood the basics… dive down even deeper because chances are you’re about to reach a tipping point for realizing how little you know.

People will always find you did something wrong. You will never get culture 100% accurate— not even people who were born and raised in it will, because as I said in step five: cultures have a huge variety of people in them, so everyone will interact with it differently. But you can work your hardest to capture one experience, make it as accurate as possible, and learn more for next time.

A rant that shouldn’t need to be ranted about

I don’t know if a lot of people will read this, but I hope to anyone who reads this takes this as seriously as it should be taken. I would also just like to state that i am NOT being over dramatic, I am NOT going to handle anyones shit if they tell me otherwise.
Yesterday, I was in the train at around 6:30pm waiting for it to start moving just to meet a couple of my friends. It so happens that it was also Pride Day here (in Stockholm, Sweden), hence I was headed to go join everyone at the park. So i’m wearing this blue wrap around type of top, which yes wasn’t “conservative” but i had a leather jacket over it with black high waisted pants. I added a picture of what I wore at the end of this post.

And… the stunt has been pulled.

Two weeks ago, the opposition organized a national inquiry to find out how many people disapproved of what the government was trying to do (rewriting the constitution). The result was that 7M people voted in it, including Venezuelans all over the world, and said they rejected this completely.

Today, the “elections of the writers of the new constitution” were held, without having done the mandator inquiry the government was LEGALLY BOUND to hold first, to make sure that people wanted the constitution to be rewritten. The result? 8M voters, they said.

It sounds bad, right?

Only, it’s worse than you think.

Those 8M votes they claim they obtained are fake. False. Forged through every possible cheating process you can think of. As examples:

Dead people were signed up as current voters, despite having been inactive voters for YEARS.

People who hadn’t voted yet found that they apparently had already voted and the system refused to let them do it (their choice was made for them, basically).

Some people were actually going to vote, but there was nobody in the electoral centers. Not a soul. They couldn’t do anything.

There is ACTUAL FOOTAGE of people who got bribed through food into voting.

There are a gazillion reports of threats from the government to all state workers to not only vote in these elections, but to bring 9 other people with them so that they could have all the votes they wanted.

Also, some people were protesting against the process: 17 people were killed in a single day for not wanting this dictatorship.

So, turns out that when you take all this into consideration, you realize those 8M votes are actually sketchy as hell. But if we want to see something even better, the contrast between a 7M inquiry and 8M election is as follows:

Here we have a picture from 2 weeks ago, 7M inquiry:

This was the line today, around the same area, 8M for elections:

And this didn’t just happen in a single, isolated location. No, it happened everywhere. The vast majority stood their ground, workers didn’t vote despite all the threats… and yet these guys miraculously found 8 million votes?

Simply put, it’s the proof nobody else needed anymore of how rigged the system is. But it’s tragic, and dangerous, because of what they’re likely to do with these fake results. There seriously is no telling what they’ll do if they keep pushing their tampered results as what really happened.

I keep saying pessimistic things about how I don’t know what will happen and if I’ll still be able to be as leisurely and happy online as I usually am. This though… it’s an actual dictatorship, in the flesh. It’s autocracy. They’re not holding back at all. And if they keep limiting our freedom… well, who knows what might happen eventually. I do hope things finally will blow over and this nightmare will end, but after 19 years of veiled tyranny it’s hard to actually believe this country can be fixed that easily.

Anyways… just letting you all know what the truth is, in case anyone hears about the 8 million voters and thinks it’s a real thing. It’s absolutely, utterly fake and there’s a ton of proof of it if you know who to ask.

Thanks for reading and caring, to all those of you who have. I hope there really may be a light at the end of this unreasonably endless tunnel.

Hernando and Amanita

Okay but like, Hernando and Amanita need to meet next season. Like seriously, imagine all the debates they would have about literature and art. And don’t even tell me they wouldn’t be researching everything they can about homo sensorium together. Ugh they would just be the best duo. I need this shit in my life

Tips for young trans boys going on HRT [From two dudes already going through it]

Ok so since not everyone is actually fortunate enough to go through an actual Gender Service, I’m going to write some Will and Probably Won’t things that come with going on T. For ref, I’ve been on T a year and my bf has been on for two. Let’s start;

Won’t:

You’ll wake up one day and sound like Morgan Freeman.

Will:

Going on T will deepen your voice.

For some people it may happen quite suddenly, for others gradually. Most likely you’ll sound like you have a bad cold for a while and then it’ll even out and be different. If you like to sing, be aware of voice cracks and suddenly being unable to sing as high as you used to. Some guys get lucky and still retain singing prowess, but be aware there’s a high chance you won’t.

Each person’s vocal change is different. My voice cracked literally after the first injection, whilst my bf had to wait a while for changes. Don’t be worried if it appears your voice isn’t changing and be aware it may not go incredibly deep. It will probably be more noticeable to others than you and eventually it’ll feel like your normal voice. Your pets will recognise your voice, they will always come to know you.

Won’t:

Face shape will change drastically to become more masculine.

Will:

After a while on T, you may experience some change in face and body shape.

A lot of trans boys I know seem to believe they’ll wake up one day and just have the perfect masc face. Everyone is different, I can’t stress this enough. You may experience a huge change in the face, you may experience almost nothing. My bf always had a very round ‘moon’ face and his cheeks have started to slim down but his facial shape is more or less the same. As for myself I’ve not noticed anything too considerable yet.

The same goes for the broadening of the shoulders. If you’re very slender to begin with, you’re probably never going to be Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, but you might experience some changes. Again, don’t be disheartened, everyone is different.

Won’t:

The fat in your breasts will break down from going on T and make you look a lot more flat, if your chest is small you may not even have to wear a binder.

Will:

If you have A cups, then maybe the breakdown that happens with T will mean you don’t have to bind. However, the breakdown from T alone is very small unless you’re on it for years. Also be aware that a lot of the fat in your body in general is going to start focusing on your stomach. It’ll become easier to gain muscle once on T, but if you don’t exercise, the weight you lose from other areas will go to your stomach. But also, muscle weighs more than fat, remember that. You may drop clothing sizes, which can be a pain if you’re already quite small and have trouble finding masc clothes to fit you, trust me I know.

Also a note on binders: Do not use bandages or cheap binders. Do not. Binders can cause damage after prolonged use when you’re using a proper binder nevermind anything else. Bandages are made to contract and not let in moisture, they are not good for being tight around the chest! Cheap binders are also usually not breathable and will hurt more than they should! It could cost a lot, but forking out for a proper binder from places like lesloveboat is really going to be worth it. There is the sports bra method if you can’t get a binder because you’re not Out yet and couldn’t justify getting a binder to your parents etc but even then it’s not as safe as a proper binder.

Any binder shouldn’t be worn for longer than recommended, and will most likely rub especially when the T starts to make you sweat more. There’s also going to be an increase in acne on the chest around where the binder fits. If your chest ever really starts to hurt, find somewhere to take the binder off. I don’t care where you are, if you’re getting huge chest pains, take the damn thing off. If you damage yourself the chance of being able to get surgery reduces drastically, not to mention a whole lot of health problems you don’t want to deal with. It’s harsh, but it’s a lot better for you. Get a binder in the next size up and try again.

Won’t:

My periods will stop immediately and I’ll never have them again.

Will:

Eventually your periods will stop, though you may spot occasionally whilst you still have the necessary organs.

Though everyone is different, don’t be disheartened if you still have a period or two after starting T, you’ll stop eventually. You could also go a while without a period and then spot before stopping again. If the spotting continues for a while, or if you start to experience severe cramping, go and see a doctor

Won’t:

I’m going to get angry and aggressive a lot when on T!

Will:

Your emotions will be doing a whole lot of different things. Your may get angry, and you may also find your sex drive increases. You might also get upset more often or at things that never upset you before, or aren’t necessarily sad. I cried listening to that Chick Chick song, it’s ridiculous. It won’t last forever, be patient with yourself, there’s nothing wrong with you it’s basically just puberty (again).

Last things -

Hair growth all depends on the person, the face being the last place that will probably grow hair and even then you’ll probably only have a tiny fluff for a long time, unless you’re lucky. My bf is experiencing hair in places now that I started growing extremely quickly right away. It could be to do with my having dark hair and him being a redhead tbh. But you will grow hair, all over. All over. Be prepared for that. You will get hair in places you never had much if any hair before. I have hair on my chest now. Not a whole lot but it’s there. The stomach is another hotspot for hair growth on T.

You will get acne, you will start to stink, sweat more and you may get growing pains. Look up Male Puberty, seriously, it’ll give you a good idea of some of the stuff that will start happening to you. Until your hormones calm down, your acne will not ultimately improve even with skincare. If you’re under 21, you might grow a little and the pains will be considerable. I gained like maybe an inch so I’m still short af but that’s something.

Your clit will start to get bigger. I know talking about the female genitalia we have is a big dysphoria bomb for a lot of us, but you need to read this. Your clit will get bigger, maybe considerably, maybe so much that the lips won’t hide it any more (if they ever did). It will rub against your underwear and/or your packer. For me it’s just mildly irritating, though for my bf it actually hurts (stings) him. It will be really sensitive either way. Be aware of that.

Some people you don’t see every day or aren’t very close to may not recognise you when considerable changes occur. Use this to your advantage! Reintroduce yourself!

If you self-inject, be prepared to mess up. There will be pain, swelling and bruising. If you have a nurse to inject you (like we do) there’s a change that they too might occasionally catch a nerve and you may bruise. Do not inject directly into a vein.

It’s perfectly fine to cry because of growing pains, pain from rubbing etc. You can be a man and still cry and complain but at least be aware of what to expect.

Most changes will be so gradual that you’ll never look in the mirror and see a stranger, it’ll be like this was always the way you were.

If you do however, start to become really distressed by the changes or start to see nothing but a stranger in the mirror, please reconsider whether HRT is the right thing for you. The last thing you want is to be stuck with changes that are actually distressing you. It’s ok if you thought you wanted/needed this but then realised you didn’t/don’t.

Last (gosh this was long). Every guy is different. Some changes come fast, some don’t. Some may be huge changes and some only small. Don’t compare yourself to other trans guys especially your own friends/loved ones. Every guy is different, be proud of your changes as they come and don’t let anyone bring you down just because those changes aren’t ~*significant*~  to them.

One-paragraph appreciation for the introvert types

ISTJs:  I think it’s great that there are so many of you, because ISTJs drive the world, get stuff done, and always seem to know what’s going on. You’re so incredibly reliable and trustworthy and we need people like that. Without your devotion and logical thinking, the world would be nowhere.

ISFJs: You guys are the glue that holds society together. I love how much you care about everyone and how much effort you put in to make sure everyone is okay. Seriously, you deserve more credit for being such great people, and you have both the drive and natural kindness to help a lot of people.

INFJs: Not only do you have other peoples’ best interests in mind, you guys dream big and have bold ideals. You may not think they’ll happen, but because you’re all so gutsy and organized (unlike me) I feel like you can and will accomplish your goals. I wish there were more of you, because you’re brilliant.

INTJs: You nerds are going to change the world. Seriously, you’re all intelligent, knowledgeable, determined and generally great at stuff, and you’re unbound by expectations. You are creators, challengers, improvers, and while you are few, you can have massive effects on the world on your own.

ISTPs: I know none of you are that dependent on the approval of others, but for what it’s worth: you are great. Your cleverness, pragmatism and bravery mean that you can accomplish awesome things that others could only dream of, and your calmness under pressure is something I strive for.

ISFPs: I feel like the world would be so much more peaceful if people adopted your mindset. It’s incredible how well you guys can see the beauty in others and the world around you. Flexible, talented people like you have so much potential, and since you’re all so kind and charming it’s great to be around you.

INFPs: You guys are most interested in deep thoughts and long-term goals and don’t care about shallow things. And that’s a wonderful way to be. I’m so glad that there are people like you: deep thinkers who don’t forget to look after others, altruists who still seek to define themselves. You fit so many great qualities into one incredible personality.

INTPs: My fellow oddities, you are awesome. You have whole worlds inside your heads, and you tend to know the right answers and ask the right questions. Your curiosity and imagination combined are a force to be reckoned with, and you are definitely some of the smartest people in the world.

Why are all my fandoms going crazy right now??

- Skam is freaking out (with good reason) about rumors about the American adaptation, and still in general chaos because of the end of the show and season 4

- Voltron’s about to get a new season and its incessant ship wars are still going

- Malec is broken up in the show (and I don’t even watch shadowhunters, I just liked the books! Seriously it’s like secondhand fandom stress here)

- Supergirl and CW in general are getting all kinds of new content about some crossover thing that’s happening in like two months, which of course fires up all the karamel shippers vs. anti drama

- Chaol’s book is coming out in SJM land, and people are either excited for their fave or (like me) even more stressed about TOG 7

- Carry On is doing fine but that’s like the miracle fandom anyway… seriously there’s like never any drama? I love it so much

- Doctor Who!!! Need I say more? (I’m so flipping excited!!!!!!!)

- In a Heartbeat was released, and it didn’t! let everyone down (go watch it seriously!!)

I’m probably forgetting a million things but like… I can’t handle this right now seriously

EDIT: How could I forget Yuri On Ice??? Like… I don’t really know what’s going on there anymore but I just really want another season

good thoughts on things that Definitely happened during The Summer of Mutual Pining: makkachin was obviously trained using commands in russian, so victor has to teach yuuri those commands like if he ever wants/needs to tell makka to do something. victor adores the way yuuri's tongue curls around the russian words

ANON YOU BEAUTIFUL TROPICAL FISH.

Imagine the tremendous cardiac stress test that is teaching Yuuri Russian commands while he carefully and seriously repeats after you. He has such beautiful intonation. Maybe he’s practiced Russian before. Or maybe he’s just naturally good at languages, the way he’s naturally good at back-bends and temple-massages and holding himself against a pole with his frankly miraculous thighs.

(Yuuri, who has been practicing how to say “My name is Yuuri Katsuki and it was an honor to skate with you today” since he was fifteen, thinks his intonation sounds very childish and sloppy. It sounds nothing like the actual hundreds of hours of Victor Nikiforov interviews he has watched on YouTube.)

But anyway. As it turns out. All of this is nothing compared to actually seeing Yuuri run through Makkachin’s entire retinue of commands in Russian as Makkachin gets more and more excited about the high-value treat that is surely at the end of this adventure and Victor stands in the corner trying not to choke on air.

As Makkachin complies with the last command (”shake”) they do that devastating maneuver where Yuuri gasps in delight and Makkachin does the universally-recognized ‘please get on the floor so I can give you face-kisses’ dance.

“The best girl,” Yuuri says in his halting Russian. She yips happily and sets about drowning him in kisses. “The smartest and best girl.”

Fuuuuuuck,” Victor somehow does not say.

“Why not? There’s seriously no ill feelings behind it, I only need them for a little bit and then you’ll get it back.”

“Why can’t you take no for an answer, Loser. I’m not giving you my underwear. Bye.”

Yoongi sighed as he followed you outside of the house party to the backyard. The music pounded through the walls from inside, blaring fast beats and obscene profanities, echoing past numerous houses down the street. The cold air hit your cheeks that were tinted red from the alcohol and the heat of the copious amounts of bodies ‘bumping and grinding’ on one another.

Even outside, the yard was filled with scattered groups and couples. Each of them drinking from those infamous red, plastic cups, taking hits off of each others blunts, or connected to their partners lips. Pushing past them was no easy task, consistently bumping into intoxicated bodies as you made your way to the empty swinging loveseat.

You ran your hand through your hair as you sat, attempting to catch a breath. The party was suffocating. It seemed as though people flooded every room, corner, crevice and pocket the household had. The bathroom; occupied by two girls from your Literature class going down on the All-Star Quarterback whose only response to the disturbance was “Do you wanna join?”

The bedrooms were either locked and if they weren’t you wouldn’t dare go into them anyways. Oh no, you’d learned your lesson the first time you’d ever gone to a house party of this size. Turns out, High Schoolers were a lot kinkier than you could ever have thought.

Any other room was full of people trying too hard to impress their peers when in the end it didn’t even matter. You never saw the point in these fiascos. High School lasts 4 years and then it’s over with and you don’t ever see these people again. They weren’t important to you in the long run.

So, why were you here in the first place? Well you could thank your 'best friend’ for that. Park Jimin. After well, years, of begging for you to try another party saying, “It won’t be like the first one, I promise. I won’t leave your side and we’ll have fun, just the two of us, okay?” He finally got you to agree to try it once more making him swear he really wouldn’t leave you alone at any point during the party. But, here he was; weak as a kitten as soon as his ex walked in, begging for some alone time to 'talk’.

My thoughts on 13 Reasons Why Characters (Contains Spoilers)

Hannah Baker: I hate everything that happened to Hannah. Those terrible scenes just grabbed my heart and crumbled it into dust. She went through so much and felt like she had no one to talk to. Majority of her friends just betrayed her except for Clay Jenkins. The only thing about Hannah that I found messed up about her was that she pushed away the one person that actually wanted to be there for her.

Clay Jensen: I felt bad for him, having to hear about the awful things done to the person he loved and watching him struggle to try and get justice for her. I just wished he was able to overcome the fear he had when talking to Hannah and told her how he really felt. There was that moment where he was a dick to her when she tried to talk about the car accident and he completely shut her down.

Tony: Ever since the beginning i got this mysterious vibe off Tony and i didn’t really like it but i realized it was all for Hannah and honoring what she wanted, I’m really glad he decided to show Ms. Baker the tapes even though I was dying for him to tell her sooner.

Jeff Atkins: OMG WHY?!? JUSTICE FOR JEFF TOO! He had absolutely nothing to do with the tapes and all he wanted was Clay to be happy and to be with Hannah. He was such a sweet guy who definitely didn’t need to go.

Jessica Davis: I loved her, then i hated her, and then I felt really bad for her and like Hannah I hope Jessica gets the justice she deserves. I really liked her at the beginning, she was such a cool person and her and Hannah were so so similar. They had that friendship, where you can consider each other sisters. But then I hated how she automatically blamed Hannah instead of Alex for the list that he made and then blamed her for end of their break-up. She didn’t even try to listen to Hannah. And I hated that she didn’t want to see justice for a girl who was once her friend. But then it all started to make sense and it was because she was fed a soup full of lies by her boyfriend.

Justin Foley: I feel like Justin Foley actually does have a good heart but he just didn’t make the right decisions. I loved how much he cared about Jessica but what he did to her was completely awful. But, it killed me when he called out to his mom after her boyfriend just choked her son and she just walked away. And what really also got to me was when he told Jessica about almost jumping and said he couldn’t because he was thinking about her almost made me forget about what he did but then Jessica told him off, and I remembered the pain he helped cause her. It’s clear that what he did was eating him up inside (as it should) and now he just has to live with that

Bryce aka dickshit: FUCK HIM. HOPE HE CREMATES IN HELL. If you watched the show, i’m pretty sure this is all I need to say about that disgusting animal.

Courtney Crimsen: Hate her. Hated her. And still hate her. I understand she didn’t want people knowing she was lesbian but that was no reason to throw Hannah under the bus. Coming out is hard, especially when you go to school with a bunch of judgmental, immature idiots but that’s still not a justification for what she did. And then i absolutely hated her when she tried to stand up and protect Bryce like he wasn’t a rapist who raped not only Hannah but Jessica too. I get she was lying to herself about him not be a rapist so she wouldn’t have to consider herself a lesbian but she just needed to finally admit the truth to herself.

Sheri: I liked her and….. i don’t hate her. She should’ve called the cops but I understand her reasons her hitting and running a stop sign. She was scared. But she should’ve never left an slightly intoxicated Hannah there after she offered her a ride. But i do feel like Sherri has her heart in the right place by hanging around the old man who got in the accident and by finally going to the police.

Alex Standall: I hated him for making the list and letting Jessica be mad at Hannah for it. But he was the only one who actually had a brain in the ‘lets take Clay down so the world won’t know about all the horrible things we’ve done” group. He was the first one to actually wanted to tell the truth and accept the punishments. He was also a sweet character and I really hope he isn’t dead.

Zach: I thought he was sweet too. But i didn’t like how he didn’t speak up for Hannah and actually take into consideration that she needed help, but i can’t really blame him for the fact that he was scared and it’s hard to know that there’s something wrong with someone and actually being able to help them. Knowing that there’s something really dark about a person and just freezing up with fear and not knowing what to do. And what people do in situations like this is they take the easy way out and just ignore it and act like it never happened. But i truly think he actually liked Hannah.

Tyler: Fucking creep. Seriously he should have his camera shattered into a million and one pieces. And i know this is just a theory but i just wanna put this out there and most of you are probably thinking this too but i’m pretty sure Tyler shot Alex. He had all those guns and he took down Alex’s picture. It makes sense. Anyways, i don’t understand why he was trying so hard to try and get into the  ‘lets take Clay down so the world won’t know about all the horrible things we’ve done” group. I think he’s a psychopath and that side of him will unravel in season two of this show.

Marcus Cole: I thought he was actually a nice guy when he asked Hannah to go out with him and then once he came and hour late and sexually assaulted Hannah that’s when I hated him. He cared wayy to much about his reputation.

Ryan: self-centered douche bag. The only moment i’ll applaud him is when he shut Courtney down when she tried to deny Bryce was a rapist. I saw his point on having her poem open to the world and about her struggles reaching out and connecting to other people’s problem but it was personal and he should’ve asked for permission.

Mr. Porter: What’s the point of having a guidance counselor if they’re not going to help guide you out of your problems?? I’m happy he felt bad for not being able to stop what Hannah did to herself. Out of all these people, he was the only one that actually gets paid to help people out of their problems

me: (wastes my time constantly reading facts that i already know about a character I already know everything about because somehow my brain will never get tired of hearing about how amazing this one character is 24/7)

Jon & Dany - Love vs Duty

Lets talk about the speculation that theme for Jonerys is love vs duty. This story already has two royal couples who parallel Jonerys in some capacity and lie on the opposite ends of the spectrum.

Marriage of love - Started a war: The love bit is easy to guess, Rhaegar & Lyanna, whose reckless all consuming love and complete abandonment of duty is what started a war which ended the Targaryen dynasty, the most stable regime until the mad King. If these two didn’t abandon duty to the point of not informing anyone at all about what they were upto, the war could have been stopped. This parallel is a cautionary tale of how choosing love & completely abandoning duty ends in tragedy, a theme displayed throughout the show.

Marriage of Duty - Destroyed Westeros : On the other hand there’s the less obvious couple which parallels them in the worst possible outcome kind of a way. A couple that completely lacked love and only married for duty. So many people say that the smarter choice for the plot would be to have Jon & Dany go the political marriage of convenience route, with Jon alone on the throne in the end. But the last time a warrior with no desire to be King, only driven by a singular goal of winning a war and defeating what he believed to be the greatest threat to the kingdom, married a woman who wanted to be queen, only for her resources that could help him win the war… This is what the Kingdom ended up with….

  • Long Blonde curls & raven haired manbun? Check!
  • A dead lover he barely had a relationship with, who he took his time moving on from? Check!
  • A blonde brother who has been a little too comfortable with her body? Check!
  • Three children who weren’t fathered by him? Check!
  • Woman with ambition & resources? Cersei always wanted to be Queen, Tywin &Jamie helped Robert win the war & her family’s gold helped him run his Kingdom. (Just like Dany’s armies & Dragons are Jon’s only hope to win)
  • All of Lannister gold mines are mined dry during Rober’t reign. Jon travels to Dragonstone to mine dragonglass, which he himself declares to be of more value than gold to the North.

The lack of that respect & love embittered Robert & Cersei as individuals, tore their marriage, weakened their regime, bankrupted Westeros with Robert’s lack of interest to lead and it lead to his demise at Cersei’s hands, who is sitting on the Iron Throne now.  When Tyrion learns of Dany’s engagement in Meereen, he references Cersei to tell Dany that it never works in the long run.

Jon & Dany : Seeing as love & duty failed on their own, it’s smarter that these two were fully formed honourable & responsible leaders who completely understood their duties as King & Queen when they met each other and they fell in love on their own. Jon respects Dany as his Queen & as a woman enough to bend the knee when she offered him all the resources he needed to win the Great War in the North.  If  both of them survive till the end & get married, Jon is the kind of guy who would be respectful of her as a Queen and a leader, because he is not Robert Baratheon. They would definitely not run away to live in a house with a red door or lemon tree either because they aren’t Rhaegar & Lyanna either.  They will rule… Together!

I’m sure they will go back & forth with love & duty next season for drama, like the ‘bend the knee’ conflict this season.  Tyrion, who has been on a steady streak of bad advises this season, ranging from Castely Rock to suggesting the Wight Hunt, will surely tell them they need to choose duty over love, understandably since he’s had such a bad experience with love.  They might even consider it as they both take their duty very seriously but much like the ‘bend the knee’ drama which didn’t mean anything by the time it happened, in the end they would realise that their love only makes them stronger and it’s not even a choice they need to make. Stronger Together.

So I end my argument with ‘Together’. It has been stressed over and over again this season and in Season 5, when Jon & Dany were struggling as leaders, she was under siege in Meereen & he was planning to leave for to Hardhome (Jon was killed for that decision), Maester Aemon says, “A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing” after reading a scroll about Dany, just as Jon walks into the room. So the strongly foreshadowed theme for Jonerys has been, only together can they be successful monarchs & protectors of the realm. But I can totally see them becoming a stronger team next season and external forces trying to tear them apart with the ‘Love vs Duty’ argument.
