I'm sure you're getting so many messages about your soulmark au--and obviously bc it's amazing. do you mind if i ask you to elaborate??? i want to hear more! who's the teal on keyleth (i'm guessing the dark brown is kerrek?), and did you have any in mind from the twins on her? i would also love to hear what you think zahra's and percy's on vex would look like :D

I haven’t gotten a whole lot of messages about it, but I’m always happy to answer any that I get! There’s plenty that I didn’t put in that post because it was already getting too long, oops. I tend to ramble a little.

But the teal on Keyleth is Vex, and the dark brown on her arm is Kashaw (it’s so dark it almost looks black in certain lights). Kerrek’s words are a warmer shade of brown that curve along her shoulder blade, like a gentle hand resting there, ready to guide her along

Vax’s is on her other hand, a deep blue that seems to glitter in the moonlight that reads ‘Oi, you there, haven’t seen a dagger anywhere, have you?’

I’m so mad at myself that I didn’t put more for Vex on the initial post, but I had ideas for those too!

Zahra’s are deep, dark red that wrap around her waist. They’ve always seemed to almost glow when there’s a full moon overhead, which only makes sense once she meets Zahra

Percy’s light blue, almost white, are on her back, almost mirroring her brother’s, though in a much neater hand. For an instant (as Percy rushes forward toward the tomb) the ‘And here I thought I would finally get some peace and quiet’ seems to burn (the next thing she knows she’s on the ground staring up at tearful faces)

Thank you for asking! I’m always happy to talk about this au, and any other!

Everything Ep.10 changes

I’ve already made a post briefly summarizing the most important changes, but now let’s get a deeper look at everything I could find whose meaning is different now that we know about the party:

1) Victor watching the video of Yuri dancing to “Stay by Me & Never Leave”

Before: Victor saw the potential Yuri had and decided to coach him

Now: Victor saw the potential Yuri had and, considering the routine is about asking someone to stay by your side, likely also interpreted it as Yuri calling to him to be his coach.

2) Victor’s certainty in his choice

Before: Victor is so sure of himself he didn’t even worry that Yuri might not want to have him as a coach and simply moved to his place without asking.

After: he wasn’t worried because he thought Yuri remembered asking him for it and considering the video of him, Victor assumed that hadn’t changed.

3) The flirting and closeness

Before: Victor doesn’t understand personal space and/or is trolling because he knows how Yuri reacts to flirting

Now: Victor saw Yuri even pole dance half naked. They held each other and danced together. Yuri clung to him while dry-humping him. And Victor clearly had a thing for him at that moment. He didn’t think Yuri would mind the closeness so much because of how Yuri had behaved that night, and all the flirting wasn’t a joke but Victor sincerely interested in Yuri

4) Eros: the playboy was…Yuri

Before: Victor made a routine on Eros where a playboy has the heart of the prettiest girl in town then leaves her. This is likely modeled on himself and his playboy/idol character

After: Victor might have modeled the playboy after Yuri. Yuri showed up, stole his heart, then left to Japan without another word. Sure maybe Victor might not have been too much in love yet, but maybe still enough that it inspired him to make that song. A more indepth analysis of this is here.

This is getting too long, so here’s a cut:

Someone probably beat me to the punch and made a post like this already, but honestly, I just had talk about this scene.

I’m sure all of you remember the infamous bathroom scene. This new flashback from episode 12 puts things into a different perspective.

Here Yuri is, watching Yuuri’s past GPF performance. He’s trying his best to look disinterested yet you can tell he’s clearly interested. He even goes as far to admit that Yuuri’s step sequence grabbed his attention. And when he mentions the failed jumps he sounds almost…disappointed.

He isn’t making fun of him for messing up his jumps. He wants to see Yuuri be able to succeed and successfully complete a program.

Hi all,

I watched TFP with a friend and we talked for a few hours afterwards. I’m not quite sure what to post here because I’m still trying to land on a reaction, but I feel like I should post something.

Most importantly, I’m really sorry if I contributed to the hurt and loss any of you are feeling right now. I know none of us are actually responsible for that, but this morning, for example, I was so utterly convinced the leaked episode was fake after watching it that I know I built up some of your hopes even further. I apologize.

A few minutes of scrolling my dashboard and I see everyone’s already pointed out the many, many inconsistencies (Victor’s dog bowl had me cracking up, honestly), the horribly offensive stuff (all the villains are queer, but none of the heroes), the truly cruel scene with Molly that destroyed her character arc, Hulk smash coffin, not only surviving an explosion+crashing through a window+two story fall but not being so much as scratched, the fact that they could inexplicably hear MP child!Euros on the phone…and on and on. It felt so disconnected from the first two episodes, and all previous seasons.

For me, it boils down to this: the first twelve episodes of this show had layers. Careful dialogue with subtext under the text, gorgeous compositions, stunning sets built with love and attention to the most minute of details, beautiful mind palace sequences––a lush Victorian London, even! And all of those things can be misinterpreted, surely. But god, I had so much fun trying.

This episode had one layer. For the first time ever, I have no urge to write a meta…not because I didn’t like what happened in the episode, but because there’s simply nothing to pick at. The lines were just the lines. The music, when present, was largely recycled from previous episodes. The concrete rooms were dull, the rest of the prison looked like something out of a 70s Bond movie – when the Garridebs brothers were dangled in front of the window and dropped, I half-expected Sean Connery to fetch them in a speedboat or something.

It looked and felt like a different show. I think maybe the reason I’m not feeling angry or sad yet is because I’m still waiting for…something. An explanation? A fourth episode? I don’t know. Something.

At the same time, if there IS something else coming, I can’t bring myself to get too excited about it. If this a trick or a plan or whatever, it’s not working on me. Maybe some fans will be psyched.

And if this is just it, well… I’ve had a blast with this blog and this community. I write novels, and picking apart these stories with all of you, talking subtext and metaphors and mirrors, has been incredibly educational for me as an author. I’ve learned what to do (and tonight, a heavy dose of what not to do!). I hope everyone here can take away something positive from this experience – I know I have.

Most importantly, if you’re a writer or an artist or a musician or any sort of creator? KEEP CREATING. We need you.

Thoughts on Yuri!!! on Ice Ep. 9

***super long post ahead with many screenshots***

I usually post tons of screenshots, GIFs and sometimes cuts of the skaters’ program after watching each episode of Yuri!!! on Ice, but not this time.

To be perfectly honest, I had to sit down for a few minutes to calm myself before I can even start typing here. This episode is just…too powerful for me to simply sit back and enjoy like I do for most anime I have watched and am watching.

I’m not sure whether I have already sorted my thoughts enough to write this post, but I hope I can get my message across.

First of all, let’s start from this…

While this scene really made me feel sad, honestly I didn’t think twice about it.

I mean, we have seen how far Yuuri and Viktor’s relationship has developed in the last eight episodes, so I thought Viktor’s words and act here were as expected. We have probably seen many similar scenes in other romance stories, so this wasn’t surprising for me.

Furthermore, throughout this episode, Yuuri seems pretty calm - still quite nervous, but at least much calmer than in Episode 7. He warmed up as usual, he quietly watched other skaters’ programs, even commenting on Yurio’s stunning performance.

I did feel worried when he flubbed his jumps during “Yuri on Ice”, especially when he only placed third since we all know there’s no way JJ will mess up. Thankfully he managed to get into the final (poor Michele), but what changed my mind completely was when I saw this scene.

I didn’t get it at first. I thought he was just thanking Yakov for being there with him in place of Viktor. And when he said “Viktor will go back to Russia soon”, I thought it means Viktor will come back there after checking on Makkachin’s condition.

Also, when he started hugging everybody afterwards I just laughed it off because honestly it looks funny.

But that wasn’t it. After watching this episode until the end, I gradually started to get that since the first scene, this episode was trying to tell us something.

Also not sure if someone already posted about this but…. While Ep 7 of YOI was airing, Kubo-sensei (character design/original creator for the show) tweeted the following:

“Somehow I felt like there was some kind of synchronization going on with this week’s ‘Nigehaji,’ I wonder if I’m thinking too much.”

Nigehaji is an abbreviation for a drama airing right now in Japan, with the full name being “Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu/We Married As A Job(?).”

Guess what happened in this week’s episode of that drama:

long story short yuuri/viktor kiss indirectly confirmed

This morning I woke up and the first thing I did was scream about YoI and I’m sure there’s a post on this somewhere already but…

Tbh when he was first like “sexual love for me is like food” I was like lmao same but HONESTLY THE SYMBOLISM

Cause when he and Victor had the pork cutlet bowls? That was the first time he really saw him as human and not his idol or some god.

And that is the basis of their relationship and why it’s so good.

Consider Victor at the beginning: stand offish, cool, a seducer… everything about their first meeting reads that. It’s the “Edward Cullen” effect: a mysterious, handsome, suave man who sweeps you off your feet and shows seemingly no flaws…

But that isn’t what’s here because Yuri looks right at that and says no.

Victor tries to seduce him several times and Yuri flat up says that’s not what he wants. That’s not the kind of love that he wants. Sexual love is the theme for that song, sure, but that’s not what Yuri is portraying.

There’s a reason he says his theme is just love.

Yuri is finding and discovering just what love means to him. Usually, in this type of character dynamic, the show is all about the more innocent one being seduced and falling in love. But the thing that Yuri on Ice does is flip that on his head. One of the very first things Yuri does is learn to  "dance like the female who seduces the playboy" is so in your face about how it isn’t really Yuri falling in love with Victor (although that is also happening) but Victor falling in love with Yuri.

Victor, at first, acts like it’s all a game. He doesn’t care either way (esp with the  "what do you want me to be for you? Father? Brother? Friend? Okay boyfriend~“) but as time goes on? He realizes he REALLY DOES.

So it’s Yuri showing Victor you can’t just try and seduce me because I sure as hell will do it back and it won’t mean anything until we both know each other more than just objects of sexual desire but as something we honestly both love.

Hence pork cutlet bowl as the step off.

50 Things I Learned to Succeed on Rotations

I think I’ve finally been a third year long enough to write a post on how to succeed during rotations without having to be a grand showman and intellectual prodigy. I’ve certainly made my fair share of mistakes and straight up screw ups, I’ve also had a lot more successes than I expected.

Hopefully, what I write is useful to those starting or already on rotations (though I’m sure many of you are totally killing it already) and remember these are based on my experiences and of what I’ve learned from people I know so your experiences may be different. This isn’t a ‘how to’ guide, more a quick hit of helpful notes to take into consideration.

I also feel like maybe 50 wasn’t enough to actually illustrate what rotations are like, so if anyone wants to add more to this please do.

Tried and True

  • Show up the first day, bright eyed and bushy tailed no matter how hard the last rotation was.
  • Always try to be there early, before the doctor, even if it’s just a little bit.
  • Read, read, read.
  • If you’ve got a question, ask a question.

anonymous asked:

How in the heck does Tony hide all this werewolf business from his dad. Or does he not live with him

He lives with his dad and I think in the beginning his dad is only spared finding out because of their distance with one another. I think his parents kinda goofed and had him very young (like 17-18-ish) so at this point his dad is kinda out and about desperate to have his own life, unintentionally bitter with his kid. They don’t get along for a lot of reasons, and his dad is already used to Tony hardly being home, sneaking out at night,  acting out, etc. His dad probably spends odd nights out as well. Bad dad.

I don’t know if I ever posted these old things, but they were some design ideas for how his dad looks. Leaning towards the one on the left because father and son have to have a similar mean sneer. I think he works at a used car lot but I’m not sure. calls Tony by his full name Anthony instead of just Tony.

ravencacaw  asked:

Hello, so I've only just come across your blog and was wondering why you defend Dumbledore, considering that most fans these days pin him as not as great a guy as Harry believes (manipulative, not really caring about Harry etc.)? (or if you already have a post about it I'd love to read it) Thanks :)

I’m not sure that I already have a post.. because defending anyone on here is like a death sentence. But I guess this is the perfect time to put it all out there.

First of all, let me say that most fans don’t pin him as a bad guy, most fans on tumblr do. Yes, there’s a big difference. Believe it or not, before I had a tumblr I loved Harry Potter even more than I do now. When I signed up I expected to find people I could share my love with, but all I saw was hate. Everywhere. It was like the kids here were trying to claim the series for their own, say it was written differently, that it was inaccurate to the true story. They even said they hated JK Rowling herself!!! I mean how?? None of us could possibly be where we are today without her!!

Anyway, I’ve always loved Dumbledore. He reminded me of my grandmother, she was the wisest woman I ever knew. There’s something comforting in people who seem to have all the answers, the people who know best. The people who love you and know best.

But Dumbledore wasn’t a grandparent, he wasn’t even a parent. He was Harry’s mentor, and that constitutes a very different relationship.

JKR: “If Dumbledore had been Harry’s grandfather, why on Earth would he have been sent to live with the Dursleys?” [x]

(Not to mention if Dumbledore had been Harry’s grandfather the blood bond would have prevailed in a happier home.)

It took me awhile to understand why people hate him. I agree that it was harsh of him to leave Harry with the Dursleys, to leave Harry out of his plans, but we forget that Dumbledore’s greatest quality was that he was wise. He knew what he was doing. His master plan was 16 years in the making. And sometimes we seem to forget that every decision he made was explained to us.

If Dumbledore hadn’t left Harry at the Dursleys he would have died. One or even a couple of wizards are nothing compared to blood magic.

Dumbledore hadn’t told Harry he was a horcrux because any child who grows up thinking there is something terrible and evil about them will remember it during every decision they make.

And he certainly didn’t mention to Harry that he was going to die because it is a terribly cruel thing to tell a child, let alone a child who doesn’t yet understand his place in the war.

JK: I don’t want to give too much away, but Dumbledore is a very wise man who firstly knows Harry is going to have to learn a few hard lessons to prepare him for what maybe coming in his life, so he allows Harry to do a lot of things he wouldn’t normally allow another pupil to do and he also unwillingly permits Harry to confront a lot of things he’d rather protect him from but as people who have finished Order of the Phoenix will know, Dumbledore has had to step back a little bit from Harry in an effort to teach him some of life’s harder lessons.“ [x]

The crux of the matter is that Dumbledore ended up caring a great deal about Harry — many characters throughout the book tell him so — but just because Harry is the protagonist doesn’t mean the books are really about him. The whole point of the series is overcoming evil. Dumbledore’s job wasn’t to raise Harry, to parent him, that was left to Remus and Sirius. Dumbledore’s job was to win the war. He didn’t plan on loving Harry as much as he did.

“I cared about you too much,” said Dumbledore simply. “I cared more for your happiness than your knowing the truth, more for your peace of mind than my plan, more for your life than the lives that might be lost if the plan failed. In other words, I acted exactly as Voldemort expects we fools who love to act.” -OotP pg.838

Making difficult decisions doesn’t make you a bad person. Especially when they win a war. When that happens, you are forced to realize that sacrifices must be made for the greater good.

E: “Do you have more fun writing the evil characters? Because Voldemort [the sinister wizard who killed Harry’s parents] is the quintessential evil character.”

JK: “Yeah, he’s a bad one. Do I have more fun? I loved writing Dumbledore and Dumbledore is the epitome of goodness.” [x]

The hate that Dumbledore gets is just like all the other tumblr hate. It’s founded upon the whims of adolescents who are up in arms about matters they can only see in black and white.

Please don’t send me any messages in response to this statement. I absolutely loathe fandom wank.

R-1: “I’ve Never Had the Luxury of Political Opinions”

I want to talk about Jyn Erso. There’s honestly so much I want to say about her, especially in regards to how I’m seeing fandom interpreting her and how I disagree. This quote in particular stands out. It seems to be one of the most common pieces of dialogue I have seen used to demonstrate the character interpretation I don’t agree with, which is that she is, on some level, innately pessimistic and hard come to hope.

What we know of Jyn’s past is that she spent her first couple of years in a prominent family of the Empire. We get a brief glimpse of this in her flashback/dream/memory. Her father and mother are in a parlor with Krennick, and Galen puts her back to bed.

At some point, presumably shortly after this, Galen and Lyra(sp?) run away from the Empire with Jyn and find a remote planet to live simple lives. It’s explicitly outside of political actions and probably the happiest and safest feeling of her life. Until Krennick’s ship appears.

Lyra contacts Saw Gerrera, a rebel militant, and sends him to find her daughter. Jyn is then raised by a man who seems to define himself by his politics—by his rebel politics. Anti-Empire rhetoric became the air she breathed for how many years as she fought alongside him and mingled with his people?

And then Saw left her. Alone. She had to make her own way, and what are the chances that growing up feeling it’s 100% normal to spout anti-empire rhetoric quickly put her life in danger when she was on her own, as she moved from place to place? You can’t effectively rebel alone. Even Galen, for his massive, single handed rebellious act, did not manage it on his own, and even with the little help he had, he still died.

Jyn had to learn to fit into the Empire for survival.

While many people seem to read her quote: “I’ve never had the luxury of political opinions” as her not caring—being apathetic, I personally feel, they have missed the context of why she makes this statement (we’re not getting to see her better self here). Saw abandoned her because he couldn’t protect her from rebels. She didn’t have the luxury to agree with the Empire then. After being abandoned, alone and with no one, she couldn’t afford not to. It’s not a simple matter of morals or ideals, but of survival.

ok, what really bothers me about episode 24 is that absolutely no one has talked about this part:

this implies that they had an agreement of letting karamatsu staying over at chibita’s place offscreen (most likely after the karamatsu incident?

also, i speculate that karamatsu has already stayed over chibita’s place multiple times throughout the series, and keeps some of his stuff there because:

as todomatsu sets off, he brings a suitcase (and his tote bag).

as karamatsu sets off (and goes job hunting), he only brings a duffel bag.

sure, karamatsu could go back to the house to get the rest of his items, but he most likely rushed over to chibita’s with a few (?) items since he came to chibita “out of the blue”.

it seems like karamatsu’s and chibita’s friendship has improved to the point where chibita allows karamatsu to stay over

Victor: *Walks into his St. Petersburg apartment with an armful of shopping bags* Yuuri, I’m home!

Yuuri: Well. It looks like someone had an exciting evening.

Victor: I sure did! I couldn’t help but look around this adorable clothing store just a few minutes away from the rink, and before I knew it it was already dark outside. We should go there together sometime Yuuri!

Yuuri: Maybe some other time. On another note Victor, don’t you think you might have forgotten something?

Victor: Forgotten something? Is there anything in particular I might have forgotten?

Yuuri: Oh nothing particularly important, just something along the lines of it being your turn to make dinner haha. Ha.

Victor: *sweats nervously* Oh, obviously, it was obviously my turn to make dinner. I would never forget about something like that. Of course not. Never.

Yuuri: No, of course not. Luckily I was in a good mood so I made us both some Katsudon while you were on your little shopping spree.

Victor: *drops shopping bags and proceeds to hug Yuuri* I have the best husband in the whole world!

Yuuri: *blushes slightly and hugs Victor back*

anonymous asked:

"waiting in a holding cell together for our friends to bail us out and you’re unexpectedly cool au" is so rebelcaptain

I’m not really sure if this is good or not. I tried my best. I hope that you like it!

The cell was cold and uncomfortable. The cot she was sitting on barely had a few inches of mattress to cushion her. The police hadn’t even bothered to give her so much as a kleenex or a bag of ice, even though her lip was clearly bleeding and she knew that there was a bruise forming on her cheek. Yet all of that seemed secondary to the man who shared the cell with her.

It was an interesting tactic, sticking them in the same small space, but the officers probably figured that since they were arrested fighting the same group of people, they probably knew each other. Neither Jyn nor the mysterious man corrected them. Dabbing at her lip with her already bloody sleeve, most of the blood belonging to someone else, she stared at him warily.

“Why did you do it?” Jyn finally asked, distracting him from gently prodding at what would surely be a black eye.

He looked at her, staring silently for several moments.

“What?” he finally asked, as if it wasn’t obvious.

Jyn leaned forward slightly.

“Why did you start fighting?”

Ok well it’s taken me so long to post these but here are this years photo ops with Jensen. Let’s just say he’s super amazing yet again and greeted me like he already knew me almost like he remembers me from last year he surely was glad to see I had a much better year from last year and have also started to lose weight. He even put his head on mine and I didn’t even ask 😭. Not enough words can describe how amazing and kind he truly is.

Why won’t they kiss already?

Ever wondered why J2 never kiss each other on the cheek like they seem to kiss other buddies of theirs? I sure have.

Jared doesn’t seem to have a problem with smooching his friends

Richard, (x)

Misha, (x)

or JDM to name a few. (x)

Jensen has had a couple of buddy kissing moments, too. Now, don’t get traumatized on me, but he’s kissed

Misha (x)

and John Barrowman (x) at least.

We’ve had some close calls with J2 kisses, but never the real thing. Am I the only one who finds it suspicious that they never dare to kiss their so-called best friend, but it’s all cool when you smooch your other buddies?

“And we’re aaaaaaalll theee waaaaaaay ooooooveeeer–”

Yeah, this is a comical scene, in a way. But the thing that gets to me is that Coran isn’t trying to Sugar-coat anything. He’s telling it to Lance like it is, while still keeping a relatively positive outlook on how far from Earth they are.

He listens when Lance rants and reminisces with Lance about Earth and Altea.

“Yeah, water that falls from the sky.”

“Oh, we had that on Altea. Only, it wasn’t water, more like rocks. Razor sharp and boiling hot. Oh! They could knock a hole right in your head…”

“Sounds fun.”

This post is nowhere near completion, as all this stuff is stuff that happened in the 4th episode. There are so many many more instances where Coran helps by either making people relax or by reminiscing with them like shown here.

I’ll probably add more to this post as I go through the episodes, but still… my point stands…

Coran is a really, really, awesome guy.

Reaction Prompt: When their partner tells them that they’re pregnant after trying for a baby. (Part 1 of 3)

Masterlist | Mobile Masterlist

A/N: This series was requested anonymously like forever ago and I’m finally posting it. It’s like a reaction-scenario hybrid, so I’m not too sure about the format but we’ll see how it goes. I tried to make little details to separate the members reactions from each other. This is basically one of the fluffiest things that I’ve probably posted on this blog, nonetheless, I hope you guys enjoy it~   -Lana

You made sure to sit him down before telling him the news. You were already nervous about it as it wasn’t the best timing. On the other hand, it was something that the two of you had been trying to do for a while now. Despite your nerves, you put on a smile and sat down beside him, taking his hands.

“What are you doing?” he stared at you in confusion.

“We’re going to have a baby,” you spoke plainly, looking at his eyes, eager for his reaction. His face fell blank as he looked at you.

“I’m pregnant. You’re gonna be a dad,” you nodded, trying to help him along.

“Are you serious?” he grabbed at your hands, a smile quickly lighting up his face. You nodded, your own smile growing at the sight of his excitement. “You’re really serious?!” he nearly yelled as he stood up. You just kept nodding.

“I’m serious. This is real,” you assured him.

“Oh my God,” he sat back down, immediately pulling you against him in a hug. He put his hands on either side of your face and started kissing you on your lips, on your cheeks, all over your face. “I’m so happy,” he muttered against your cheek.

“We’ve tried so hard,” you commented, thinking about how long it had been since the two of you began trying to have a child.

“We sure did,” he laughed. Briefly, he paused and looked at your face, “You’re happy?”

“I’m so happy,” you replied, kissing him back.
