JOSH DUN IMAGINE

“You ready kid?”

Your eyes met Michael’s brown ones as you looked up at the security guard. The tightness in your throat became almost unbearable, and your body was growing damp with sweat. You could hear them, people screaming, trying to get you to come out of the safety of the store. And as much as you wanted to stride right through with a smile on your face, you knew you couldn’t. You had way too much social anxiety for someone who’s boyfriend had made it big.

You instinctively checked your phone at the thought of Josh. He had gone back to the venue for rehearsals before the show, but apparently the crowd lingered around the store, unaware that he’d even slipped out. And now you wish that you could’ve gone with him. Your breathing slowed as you stared at the wallpaper on your phone. The picture of Josh, squinty-eyed and rustled hair, stared back at you. You had taken the picture one morning when the sun had shone down on Josh and illuminated his tan skin, it was too much of a perfect moment to miss.

You take a deep breath before lifting your head and shakily nodding at Michael.

“You sure?” he asked, giving you a look of concern.

You nodded before pocketing your phone clutching tightly to the bag at your side. The noise around you drifted out, until it was just you and your slow breathes, a tunnel of black you had to get through to reach the waiting car. And in your mind you pictured crinkly eyes and vibrant hair and soft, sweet kisses.

The front doors of the store opened, and suddenly the loud roar of screams outside slammed into every inch of your body, breaking your Josh-centered reverie. The noise clawed at your skin, crept up your spine and pinched at your neck. You felt so exposed, so lost.  Your body turned stiff, and your eyes opened wide like those of a baby deer. You suddenly felt so stunned, completely unable to move any part of your own body apart from the tiny little shakes of your head that no one caught on to. Michael laid a stiff hand on your lower back, trying to usher you out of the store. Out of safety and comfort given in the form of shelter and isolation.

“Listen, this is a big one. Just try to count to 30 or something, yeah? 30 and we’ll be there at the car and it’ll all be over. You can do this Y/N,” and for a moment you thought that maybe you could. For a short, fleeting moment you honestly believed that you could be brave and smile with your head held high and walk straight to the car. But as you were pushed out of the door and into the suffocating, thick air, you knew that this wouldn’t go down as smoothly as planned. This was big, huge.

Shakily, you just tried to concentrate on putting one foot slightly in front of the other. Your head was pinned down, hands pinched into fists and you tried to concentrate on the pain of your nails digging into your palm. Your mouth was quickly lacking moisture, your lips were sealed shut to contain an array of whimpers that otherwise would be released.

The crowd around you roared, a constant stream of screams of hysteria that left you wanting to disappear, away from the faces and disappointed eyes. Because as you looked up to take in the situation, that’s what hit you the hardest. Not the hundreds of people staring at you like hawks, stripping you bare of the little self reassurance you had left. Not the hands grabbing at you, snatching your only sense of security,  But the looks in the eyes of those around you once they realize Josh isn’t around.  The crestfallen emotions swarming the eyes of the people you knew waited all day to see him all for just a quick glimpse at you.  That shook you to your core. Because now it was all your fault, you’re so stupid, stupid, stupid. And as the guilt flooded your system, hurtled through your body and mind like a tilde wave, you felt your cheeks become red hot from embarrassment and shame.

‘They’re all looking at me’

‘They’re all going to hate me’

‘Someones going to get hurt and it’s going to be all my stupid fault’

Your thoughts haunted your brain at a frantic, uncontrollable speed.

“Y/N! Over here Y/N!”

“I love you!”

“Get off of her!”

"Please just a quick picture!”

Voices overlapped and infused into one giant, angry wave of noise that threatened to push you over the edge. You began visibly shaking, your breath shortened. You squeezed your eyes shut, desperate for this to end and to be safe and warm and wrapped up in Josh’s warm arms. You counted in your head, until you gathered up the courage to open your eyes. You wish you hadn’t. Because as you looked towards the car and the entrance of the store, you realized that you’d only walked about ten steps. And you had so much more to go. You began to shake your head frantically, clawing desperately at Michael’s arm muttering "no please, I can’t do this” and it was all too much and you knew you weren’t going to make it and it was all your fault and you couldn’t breathe.

“Hey, not long now. You’re doing grea- woah back off!” Michael belted towards a paparazzi that seemed desperate to take a picture of your distressed state. The shouts only made you cringe. Your whole face scrunched up, eyebrows furrowing and bottom lip quivering as you couldn’t get over the horrible thoughts and feelings that plagued your entire being. You were shoved, pushed, prodded and pulled as you tried desperately to make it to the safety of the car at the end of the pathway. You stumbled, tripping over your own feet as the panic set in and overcame your body. Before you had the chance to stand up and carry on, hands were all over you. The world became mute apart from the sounds of your own quick breathing as nails dug into every inch of your body that was available. Your hair was tugged, shirt clawed at. Tears slipped from your eyes, small sobs emitting from your throat as your worst nightmares came true and played out right before your very own eyes. And only when a hand with long nails scraped across your cheek did the world suddenly come back. The noise bombarded your eardrums, ground suddenly returning under your feet helping you stand up. Small gasps could be heard throughout the mob of people as they saw your state and took a few steps back. Hefty hands clutched at you and dragged you away, until you were finally shoved into a car.

“Y/N! Hey? Come here, look at me. Are you okay? Hey, please stop that!” Michael frantically tried to grab your arms, stop you from shaking. But the more he tried, the more you panicked.

“Please stop, please please don’t touch me I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry” you choked out more sobs, shaking your head left and right until your brain felt as fuzzy and chaotic as the rest of you. You clawed at your own arms, scratching until they burned.

“Shit shit shit, listen I don’t know how to— Y/N— I’m gonna grab your phone okay?” Michael lifted his arm towards you warily, not wanted to distress you any further. “I’m gonna call Josh, okay? Stop that, sit back Y/N. You’re okay, it’s all okay.“ He grabbed your phone, nervously unlocking it and finding Josh’s number, saved with a heart emoji. He pressed the phone up to his ear and waited

"Hi this is Josh, I can’t get to the phone right now, but leave a message an I’ll g-“ Michael hung up and you let out a distressed cry in the background. Michael tries again and again, not stopping until Josh finally answers with a rushed ”'Hello? You alright babe? Sorry I didn’t answer, we were practicing—”

“Josh! Listen we’re on our way to the venue… I need you t-“

"Michael? What are you doing on Y/N’s phone, everything okay?”

"Yes, well no bu-” you let out another desperate cry.

“What was that? Was that Y/N?! Michael what’s happening?” Josh nervously raised his voice.

"We got mobbed, I’m sorry we should’ve waited until the crowds died out but they were only getting bigger, she said she was fine with it. It was fine. I don’t know what happened, she freaked out. Started shaking like crazy, crying, and then this girl scratched her cheek and now she’s in the car and she won’t calm down, Josh, she won’t let me touch her I don- I can’t stop her she won’t let me!” Michael’s frantic voice stirred, as he tried to get his distress across to Josh.

“What the hell do they think they’re doing!” Josh was angry,  in fact, he was furious. “How far are you?”

“Couple of minutes—“ Michael says quickly, checking the roads.

“Just try… try to comfort her- tell her I’ll see her soon okay? I’ll be waiting outside for you guys.”

Michael agrees before shutting your phone off and gently slipping it back to you.

You flinched as his hand moves towards you, burying your face further into your legs, just trying to breathe.

“Josh is gonna be there, he’s gonna see you soon,” He says softly.

You start pulled your hair angrily, scratching your scalp because it’s all too much to handle.  You couldn’t get a grip on yourself, you couldn’t calm down.

When the car finally slows to a stop, you barely notice.  Your face is buried so deep into your lap that only complete darkness surrounds.

”Y/N?” You hear a strained voice, croaky and sad.

“Y/N, hey, hey, it’s me! Are you okay?”  you can’t look up, you can’t show your face to him.  It was all your fault.  “Listen to me love, listen to my voice and try to calm down a bit. Everything’s okay, everything’s going to be alright,” You sobbed even at the sound of his voice, breaking down entirely.

You feel the car wobble a bit before feeling something brush lightly against your knee, at first you flinch a bit, until then an arm is wrapping around your frame and forcing you to lean to the side.  You protest at first— struggling with the grip, but Josh’s soothing voice makes you eventually give in to his strength.

“Shh—“ he pleads desperately, seeing you in so much pain makes his insides ache.

“Make it stop, I don’t want to be here anymore, I want to go away, I don’t like it. I’m so sorry, I’m sorry. I don’t know what I- I don’t know what’s going on. They were everywhere Josh, they all tried to hurt me.. I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry.” Josh felt his heart shatter, and his throat caught as he tried to hold back his own tears because he didn’t know what to say— He places his hand on your back, rubbing softly.

“No, no, it’s okay, you’re perfect okay? Listen to me, you’re perfect, you’re okay. It’s going to be okay, and I love you. I love you so much.” Josh whispered into your hair as he wound his arms tightly around you.

"Take a few deep breaths and just listen to my voice, okay?” he says softly.

Your quick panting had dissolved into large shaky breaths, and you closed your eyes tightly, trying not to focus on anything but Josh, his smell, his voice, his touch.

"Remember that one time when we went to that aquarium in Chicago, and a group spotted us so we decided to hide in the closed off inclosure, the one with all the jellyfish? And it was pitch black apart from those blue lights, remember that? And the jellyfish were just like floating around. And we lied down on the floor next to it, and just stared because it was so peaceful. Remember all you could hear was our breathing and the water. Can you think about that now? How peaceful and quiet and safe that was.” Josh’s voice was smooth and as he replayed the memory to you, desperately trying to put a nice image into your mind.

“Yeah, I remember.“ you hiccuped, your breathing becoming more and more steady.

“Remember that time we went to see a movie, but it was all sold out?  So instead we went for a long drive to the lake and just laid a blanket out in the flatbed and looked at the stars?  Remember how visible they were that night?  They sparkled and shone so brightly.  Remember listening to nothing but the sound of the wind in the woods?  You fell asleep in my arms and we stayed there until the sun rose.”

“It was a thousand shades of pinks and purples and yellows,” you recall, your breathing was almost back to normal.

"You feeling better?”

“Much better, thank you so much Josh. I love you.”

Arthur’s your single dad with PTSD

You love your father. You always had and always would, but it was hard when you sometimes had to be the strong one. Your mother had died when you were four, whilst your father was going through a rough spot. He was drinking a lot and she got drunk one night with him, she fell into the cut and never came home. You didn’t remember her, it was unfortunate really, but you had a terrible memory. When she died, your father went mad, insane even. He couldn’t look after you and he scared you more than anything. As a four year old, you didn’t understand what was going on. He would be yelling and crying all the time and you couldn’t do anything.

He never got violent with you, but he got violent with random people. You would just be walking hand and hand with him down the road as you laughed and he smiled down at you. But then someone would accidentally bump into him and he would turn into a vicious animal. Your father would let go of your hand and start yelling at the person who was either apologising or (very rarely) fighting back. If it turned into a full on fight you’d go and hide somewhere, crying. Eventually, your Great Aunt Polly took you away from your father. You lived with your Aunt Ada in London with and her nine year old son, Carl.

Your father didn’t seem to understand that you needed stability from him. You loved him, but whenever you saw him, every other weekend or whatever, hello was the same as goodbye. He couldn’t take care of anyone and he didn’t want to tell you how he felt. You didn’t know what it was like for the ‘Great Arthur Shelby’ to practically lose his only child because he never talked to you. He scared you. You weren’t ashamed to say it. He was a scary man, a violent man and you didn’t want to be like him.

If it's too late for the Drabble thing you reposted way earlier, 21 and DenNor because I can picture Denmark saying that

“I’m (First Name) Fucking (Last name)!

I hope you are referring to that one and if it isn’t, you can request another :)

I wanted to do something different with this one.

Fluff/AU.

Matthias always did things over the top to show him how much he loved him. He should have seen that coming but with the Dane, things were never predictable. He should have known that by now.

As usual, Matthias didn’t tell him where they were going to have their next date. Lukas was somehow scared but the Dane tried to reassure him that he shouldn’t make a big deal about it. The Norwegian had to trust him.

Suddenly they were leaving the city and there were open fields surrounding them.

“You are not going to kill me, right?” Lukas asked before checking that his phone had signal.

“Oh my God, Lukas. You can’t ask people if they are going to kill you” Matthias laughed and continued driving.

Lukas wanted to punch him but since the Dane was driving, he couldn’t risk both of their lifes.

He parked the car and then he gave a big smile to his boyfriend.

“Come on and let’s go to touch the sky!” Matthias shouted before leaving the car.

“We are not skydiving, right?” Lukas wasn’t sure what to expect anymore.

“No… That’s too expensive and anyways, we have to take lessons or something” Matthias rolled his eyes.

When Lukas stepped down from the car, he realized what they were about to do: A Balloon flight.

“Wow” He couldn’t help whisper that.

“Right? It’s going to be an awesome trip” Matthias was really confident about the whole thing. He was so happy when he saw that tiny smile that only lasted a few seconds on Lukas’s face. But that was enough for him.

Once they were on the air, Lukas couldn’t stop looking at the field. It was so gorgeous.

“Then we are going to have a small picnic” Matthias explained to Lukas what were his plans “And then to my house and…”

“Shut it” Lukas was afraid that Matthias was about to say something really embarrassing, something that should be kept between the two of them.

“And cuddle” Matthias added with a smile.

Lukas wasn’t really sure if that was Matthias meant to say. He knew too well and was certain that his plans didn’t involve cuddles.

“I have to make an announcement!” Matthias shouted and Lukas looked at him like a deer watch a car that was getting closer and closer.

“There’s no need to yell…” But nothing that he could say, would make Matthias change his mind.

“I’m Matthias Fucking Kohler!!!!” He yelled at the top of his lungs before he kneeled in front of Lukas.

“Okay, what have you been drinking?” Lukas was getting even more scared.

“And I want to fucking marry Lukas Bondevik!” He grabbed one of Lukas’s hand and then he showed him the ring “Will you marry me?” He asked in a softer voice.

The Norwegian was speechless and for once, it wasn’t because Matthias said something dumb.

“I…” Lukas was so shocked that he couldn’t even think in a sarcastic comment.

“I love you, Lukas and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. What do you say?” He was pretty confident but the lack of answer from his partner was getting him somehow nervous.

Lukas touched one of his cheeks. They have been dating only for six months, but he was sure that he didn’t need to see other guys anymore. He found the one.

“Yes, let’s spend the rest of our lifes together, Mat. This has been the greatest idea that you have ever had “

After putting the ring on one of his fingers, Matthias kissed Lukas like if it was their first time.

Captain Crash & the Beauty Queen from Mars

“You and me
We’re invincible together
We can be so tragical, whatever
We’re Sid and Nancy
Fred and Ginger
Clyde and Bonnie
Liz and Richard
Kurt and Courtney
Bacall and Bogie
Joltin’ Joe and Ms. Monroe.”

July, Fourth. A couple of weeks after you had turned 18, you were carrying all the weight of your future on your shoulders. The expectations, the pressure of living up to them had built up and you felt like you were suffocating in the perfect mold that you were meant to fit into. So, instead of standing at the mind numbingly boring party your parents had thrown and greeting guests with a fake smile, you ran. You kicked off your sparkly silver strappy heels, one tumbling down onto the step as you ran down the pathway and onto the street without looking back.

You kept running, your bare feet thudding against the pavement. It burned so bad, but God, you felt alive, you felt free. Running away from the choices you had to make and the person you had to become seemed like the greatest idea you had in months, until you ran straight in front of the car. You were like an actual deer in headlights, except you had a pretty dress on. You heart had jumped into your throat before you crumpled to the ground, your vision blurring at the corners of your eyes. It ached, it ached all over like a bitch. You thought you had made it to wherever the after life was until you heard a gruff soothing voice fill your ears.

Being pregnant didn’t leave many options for fashionable clothes.

Maternity clothes were ridiculously expensive and you didn’t want to invest in a wardrobe you’d only get to wear when you were knocked up. So you bought some larger clothes and stole a lot of Niall’s clothes that he only wore occasionally. There were a few staples of his that you stole, his plain cotton shirts and a few pairs his bigger sweats and boxers. He never complained when you wore his clothes, in fact, he encouraged it most times. You were doing a simple grocery store run, something that hardly required a runway ready outfit, but you were finding it hard to get any sort of outfit together. The bedroom looked like a mess and you knew Niall would have a fit, but you were frustrated.

Suburban Georgia Gothic

(This is different from regular southern gothic bc that’s all rural stuff and wealthy suburbs have their own goth shit let me tell you)

  • The blizzard of the month at Dairy Queen hasn’t changed in at least seven months. Though, come to think of it, you’re not sure you’ve ever seen the sign outside say anything different. Even the temperature is always 80 degrees.
  • The text on that Vineyard Vines shirt wasn’t English, but you’re not entirely sure what it was. You have trouble calling the text to mind at all. Something about it was unsettling—it didn’t look like any language you’ve ever seen.
  • Last summer was the hottest on record, with 279 days over 90 degrees, according to the weather channel.
  • Everyone remembers the week of snow days last winter, but you can’t find a single picture of it on your phone or a single post about it on any social networks. When you ask a teacher, they look at you as if you’ve lost your mind.
  • Every McMansion in this neighborhood is identical. The same wraparound porch, the same trimmed hedges, the same driveway. The same address, the same car out front, the same family watching you from the bay window.
  • You don’t know what’s wafting from the window of the lifted truck parked outside your friend’s house, but it doesn’t smell like weed smoke. It doesn’t smell like smoke at all. And you’re pretty sure smoke doesn’t hover in the branches of trees like that.
  • You’re pretty sure you’ve never seen a peanut farm or a peach tree, but everyone you’ve ever met over the age of 65 grew up on a peanut farm or had a peach orchard out back. They all tell the same stories of growing up on that farm—every single one of them. Verbatim.
  • It’s Sunday but you see people going into Chick Fil A. Out of curiosity, you wait and see if anyone comes out with food. No one comes out at all.
  • The girl who sits next to you in class carries a chevron print Tervis tumbler. You’ve never seen it less than completely full, but you’re sure you’ve seen her drink out of it. The cucumber slices in it are starting to change shape, into forms you can’t describe.
  • You realize the lightning bugs are blinking in patterns. You try translating it into morse code, just for fun. They are spelling out “IT IS TOO LATE”, over and over again.
  • You’ve been staring at the monogram bumper sticker on the car in front of you for several minutes and can’t make it look like letters. However, you can’t help but notice that it kind of resembles a face. Not a human face, though. Not quite.
  • The logo on that John Deere tractor is a deer… but it doesn’t look right. Something about the antlers. There are too many points… or too few… come to think of it, you’re not totally sure.
  • The sweet tea you’re drinking isn’t sweet at all, but it doesn’t taste like unsweet. It tastes kind of like something you’ve tasted before, something salty with a coppery undertone. You add more sugar.
  • The waitress at your favorite restaurant calls you a different pet name every time you come in: “sweet pea”, “darlin’”, “honey”, “blood moon”, “pumpkin”.
  • The lights at Waffle House are off, but you can see movement inside. There are several figures, both in the booths and behind the counter. You keep driving. You’re not sure who they are but you’re pretty sure they don’t want to serve you cheese and eggs.
  • The local radio station that plays contemporary Christian music is just static today. Under the hissing and crackling of static, though, you can hear a voice praying, frantically, softly, and then stopping abruptly. You switch to classic rock.

I'm curious who the person that sangwoo (or bum?) hallucinated was the deer he hit. Maybe he or his mom, hit someone with a car? Like his dad and thats why when the deer jumped out in front of him he saw a person for a moment before hitting?

I’m betting my soul that it’s his Dad

Still Hurting (Rocky):

Request: Request (please and thank you): Something happens that makes Rocky fear he almost lost you, a car accident or something maybe. Afterwards he’s really clingy and worried about you

Here you go lovey! Hope you like it! x

I decided to take the back road home. It was a little more windy and had sharp turns here and there, but it was nice to see the deer late at night, and it’s like you could almost see the stars outside of the city. It was my favorite way to go home. There’s this cute little pond where the Johnson’s let their kids jump into in the summer, and some kids catch frogs.

I take the last corner seeing Rocky calling me. I press the talk button on my steering wheel.

“Hi baby.” I say as I see bright lights in the wrong lane. They hit the front corner of my car as I try to get out of the way, and I head straight for the pond. And then everything went black.

Rocky’s P.O.V:

I heard her sweet voice say, “Hi baby.” Followed by a gasp, screeching tires and then the line went dead. I sat in my dim lit living room waiting to tell  Y/N that we finally finished the EP, but something seemed to push all the positivity to the side.

I grab my phone and click on the app where I can see where Y/N is. I did this mainly to track when she was coming home late at night, and if my worst nightmare came true like tonight. She was two miles away on the road I hated her driving late at night. I was afraid she was going to get hit, or hit a deer one of these nights. And one of those happened.

I grab my keys and rush out the door.

When I reach the scene there were bright lights, taped off area, and a truck smashed against a tree. Yet her car wasn’t in site. I see people suiting up in wetsuits and someone yell, “I found the other car!” While standing shoulder deep in the pond.

“That’s my wife.” I yell trying to run to the water’s edge.

“Sir I need you to wait here.” A firefighter says, “My finest men are going to get your wife out.”

I stand there helpless as they hurry into the cool water, It took ten minutes for them to get her body to shore. Her skin was a light blue color, and her body was lifeless.

“Let’s pump warm fluids in her, I’m going to start CPR.” A paramedic yells hunching over my wife’s body. Y/N looked like she was already gone.

Minutes pass people running back and forth from the ambulance to my wife, back and forth. I just stood there helpless. Not sure of what I was even capable of doing. People were asking me questions but I couldn’t even open my mouth. It’s like I was unable to form words.

“I have a pulse. It’s weak, but I have one.” A man says, “Let’s get her to the hospital.”

5 days later:

“Rocky really you can go to the studio.” She says looking up at me, “I’ll be okay.”

“No, no. You have a concussion and you’re still on crutches.” I say bringing her a cup of tea. She sat on the couch with our cat, kind of in one piece. She had a concussion, two broken ribs and a dislocated knee from the impact. The doctor said we’re lucky her legs didn’t get crushed since she was so close to the dashboard.

I set the mug down on a coaster down and press my lips against her forehead. I was afraid to leave her. At night I’d hear her gasp awake knowing it was another nightmare. Yet I wasn’t sleeping at all. I was maybe getting three hours a night, I would check constantly if she had a pulse, and she’d always swat my hand away if she was still awake.

“You need to get out of the house.” She says, “You haven’t left the house. You need to get some fresh air.”

“We sat outside yesterday.” I say sitting on the other end of the couch. I rub her cold toes gently afraid I was going to hurt her. “Rocky.”

“What.” I snap back. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding in. “I’m sorry.”

“C’mere.” She says waving me to come closer, “You won’t hurt me.”

We lay in silence which felt like hours, but I knew it was only minutes. I could hear her heart beating against my ear, and her fingers danced through my newly cut hair.

“I’m still here.” She whispers causing tears to form in my eyes. “I know it was a close call. I know I wasn’t here for a long time but I’m here Rocky.”
“I thought I was going to lose you.” I cry into her chest, gripping her as tightly as I could without breaking her. Feeling her, knowing she was really here.

“Oh honey.” She says pressing her lips against my forehead. “I’m so sorry I scared you.”

You leaned against the closed bunker door taking in very conscious, deep breaths. You shoved your shaking hands into your pockets, thinking that concealing your trembling would be best, and wondering how to explain… You started down the staircase. Your footsteps echoed loudly in the concrete bunker.

A/N: This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever written but I couldn’t resist. XD If you’re expecting something great, sorry!

“No.” He deadpanned, arms crossed over his chest and gaze burning holes in your head.

“But, Shaun,” you begged, presenting the fluffy animal to him once again. “She’s so cute!”

“I said no.” He stated again, looking to the white tuft of fur with disgust. You smiled down widely at the adorable kitten, bringing her once again to your chest. She happily cuddled against you, soft purrs sounding beneath the masses of white fur.

“I think we should.” Desmond commented, a sweet smile on his lips as he petted the kitten.

“We are not keeping this,” he paused, almost as if looking for an adequate enough word. “Creature.” He settled, happy with his choice as he adjusted his glasses. The “creature” in question perked her ears up, almost as if hearing Shaun. You giggled lightly, Desmond joining in.

“Just let them keep her,” Rebecca called from where she was perched in front of a computer. “It will help liven this place up.”

“This place is alive enough,” Shaun muttered, glaring at the three of you.

“How can you say no?” You cooed, the kitten meowing in your arms.

“Like this; no.” He spat, leaning back in his chair. “Oh, and look, I can say it again! No.” You pouted, turning your back on him.

“Fine,” you huffed. “But she’s staying here for the night.” Desmond looked a little upset at the news as well, reaching out two fingers to scratch underneath the kittens ears. Rebecca muttered underneath her breath at the main, fixing a temporary glare on him. Shaun, however, stood firm, keeping his arms crossed as he watched you walk away with the kitten in your hands.

Feeling a little downcast, you cuddled the kitten in between your arms, resting your head softly next to her. “I’m sorry, girl.” You whispered, glaring at Shaun. He had his back turned to you, the glow of his computer reflecting off his skin as he typed away. “He’s just a dick.”

“I can hear you!” Shaun yelled, not bothering to turn towards you. You scowled at him, flipping him off despite the fact he couldn’t see. Desmond chuckled, watching the exchange with amusement.

“Good, your ego could stand to drop a few sizes.” You retorted, gliding a hand along the kitten’s soft fur.

“You’re still not keeping it.” Sticking your tongue out at him in a childish manner, you continued petting the kitten softly. She was lost, wandering the abandoned streets when you found her. She didn’t look to be doing too well on her own, your heart going out to her. Hopefully you could find her a good home since Captain Hardass over there wouldn’t allow you to keep her. Sighing quietly, you promised to help her as you drifted off slowly.

Maybe it was the quiet laugh that woke you up. Or maybe it was the freezing cold. But whatever it was, you were wide awake well before you cared to be. Silently you sat up, stretching beneath your sleeping bag. You scanned the room in search of the little fluff ball, your eyes doing a comical double take as you spotted her.

Shaun was huddled in the corner, holding the little kitten in both hands as he made ridiculous faces. Every once in a while he would chuckle, calling her adorable. His eyes were shining playfully as he showed her affection, the purrs coming from the kitten audible in the silence of the night. Honestly, you’d been able to hold in your laughter. At least until he called the cat “princess”.

You stifled a chuckle, hoping to continue watching the exchange. Unfortunately, Shaun heard you, immediately going stiff. He looked for all the world like a deer in front of a moving car, his eyes wide, hair mussed, mouth opened, and hands frozen. A blush crept up his neck, painting his face like a cherry.

“I-” He tried, getting cut off by your laughter. You held your abdomen as laughs tore through you painfully, tears streaming down your face. He was scowling at you despite his obvious embarrassment, grumbling an assortment of choice words.

“Princess,” you parroted, falling into another bout of laughter.

“If that’s quite enough,” Shaun yelled, cheeks burning in the darkness.

“What happened to ‘creature’?” You questioned, chuckles beginning to subside.

“She came to me in the night.” He argued, crossing his arms over his chest once again. Rolling your eyes at him, you moved closer to the kitten.

“And that’s why you were playing with her.” You teased, placing the ball of fur in your arms as she looked to you with the most adorable pair of blue eyes.

“Exactly.” He mumbled, glaring. You couldn’t help but lean forward, pinching his cheeks roughly.

“Aw, Shaun,” you cooed, “You’ve got a heart!” His scowl deepened. If looks could kill, you would definitely not be sitting in front of him at the moment.

“Will you stop that?” He snapped, pushing your hands away from him.

“It’s okay, your secret is safe with me.” You affirmed, smirking. “As long as we can keep her.” Swallowing his pride, he nodded.

“Fine.” He relented, sending a piercing look in the direction of her. “Just don’t expect me to be happy about it.”

“Good,” you smiled.

“How’d you manage that one?” Rebecca asked, looking down at the kitten as you held her. You shrugged, a knowing smile playing at your lips.

“I guess I’m persuasive.” Desmond looked thoughtfully at her.

“Do you know what you’re going to name her yet?” He inquired, a soft grin aimed towards the cat.

“Princess.” You smirked, winking in the direction of Shaun. He dropped his papers, a blush rising onto his cheeks.

“That’s a lame name.” Desmond frowned. You laughed, keeping eye contact with Shaun.

“I don’t know, I think it’s pretty adorable.” He didn’t even attempt to hide his glare as you continued to tease him, his eyes boring holes into you. Choosing to ignore it, you held his gaze. “Besides, the person who chose it is pretty adorable too.” Coughs sounded from Shaun’s work area, his drink left abandoned as his body wracked violently. He swallowed roughly, watching you with reddened cheeks. He was such a drama queen sometimes.

All Hell loose.

It’s a quick a comfortable two and a half weeks. Kayla busy with the kids. Zae running his shop with the boys. Every other day Fergus came to visit, check up and keep Kayla company while she worked with the kids or had Fergus home school them on a different lesson. Which actually was a lovely break when he could home school the kids. Gave her time to do errands and various chores to get done during the day. Even got to run into the shop to visit Zae and the men while they worked.
The girls got to learn something new and exciting. It carried from law to supernatural lore. From your rights to vampire dens. Boy did they brag about it to their mother when she got back. Then the rest of the day was spent conversing with Fergus and keeping one another company while the girls honed their wolf skills and then a family outing with the pack in the evenings where the girls bragged to dad about what they had learned that day.
Zae couldn’t deny there was a hint of jealousy when Fergus got to teach them and he didn’t. They were his children his blood. But he was great fun for the knowledge they learned that he didn’t know. It was also helpful to Kayla. He got to see her more often so it was a 50/50. Though the jealousy lingered he was still kind to Fergus. Keeping things savvy between them. Kayla and the man still ‘working out’ the whole keeping on the down low with the cops. Even if Zae’s patience was wearing thin.
This weekend was to be something special however. The pack had a whole weekend off for whatever they wanted. Pack time like this wasn’t to be waisted. In fact they all really to go out take part in a good hunt. Bringing back 2-3 deer would be a good start. They had even decided to include Fergus. He had been a big part of the pack that past 2 ½ weeks. He’d become the only human to really be able to set foot amongst them on these special nights. The only eyes that would get to see them work in all their glory.
Kayla sat out front. Cinna currently braiding Kayla’s hair back which was another rare occurrence. Braids just never felt like something that suited her. Though the mother waited patiently as her child did so. Smiling as she watched the driveway patiently. Her ears picking up a car in the distance. Kayla smirked side eyeing Cinna who instantly looked up. Eyes bright with happiness as she heard the vehicle. “Fergus!” She said ecstatic. Cinna quickly finishing up the braid in a messy fashion to be done so she could go greet Fergus when he parked. Cierra stumbled out the front door just as Cinna was finishing the braid. “He’s here!” She said looking to her younger Sister (younger if minutes count) both waited impatiently to see the car come down the driveway.
Kayla stood up ruffling both the girls head hearing A commotion inside. “Cierra! Don’t leave your cello in the way of the stairs!” Zae barked setting the cello back up and popped his head out “Fergus finally showing his mug?”
“Just coming down the driveway” she said content may leaning against the porch railing.

Should Have

Rating G, I got the idea when I heard Bruno Mars’s When I Was Your Man

Mmm, too young, too dumb to realize

That I should’ve bought you flowers

And held your hand

Should’ve gave you all my hours

When I had the chance

Take you to every party

‘Cause all you wanted to do was dance

Now my baby’s dancing

But she’s dancing with another man- Bruno Mars

Gale parked his rental car in front of the Everdeen house. It looked better than the last time he saw it. He figured Katniss had some life insurance money from her mother’s death that she used to fix it up. He still regretted that he wasn’t able to talk Katniss into joining him in Colorado after Mrs. Everdeen died of cancer, but she didn’t want to uproot Prim and drag her across the country. Now that Prim was in college several states away he hoped he could get Katniss to finally leave this one-horse town and move to a real city with him. As he strolled up the walkway he noticed just how much work had been done. The house was freshly painted — white with dark green shutters — flowers filled the window boxes and a new porch swing swayed in the light breeze. Gale knew Katniss wouldn’t have paid for this much work, someone must have helped her with the house. Although she could sit for hours waiting for a deer to cross their path, she didn’t have patience for much else, especially painting and gardening.

He was walking up to the front door when he noticed music coming from the backyard; of course she would be outside on a nice day. He walked around the side of the house and saw a newer black Jeep in the driveway. There was no way Katniss would by a car like that one. Since the Jeep didn’t have the top or doors on, Gale reasoned that it wasn’t technically closed up he could take a look around. He first observed the burnt orange hat with the Mellark’s bakery logo across the top. Gale knew there were three Mellark brothers but only one remained in their small town; surely Katniss wouldn’t be hanging out with Peeta. Maybe she finally gave him a sympathy date. Peeta’s crush on Katniss was the worst kept secret in Panem. In fact, the only person who didn’t know about it was Katniss herself. Gale saw a receipt in the center console that started to flutter in the wind. It was his duty to make sure it didn’t fly away and litter the ground. The receipt was from a local shop for a bouquet of flowers. He chuckled at the thought of someone giving Katniss flowers. She thought things like that were silly. Obviously, Peeta didn’t know her very well. He smiled at himself as he thought of her running to his arms leaving Peeta behind.

As he got closer to the fence, he heard her laugh, God he missed that sound. He still hated that he left her behind, but he couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work as a contractor for the defense department. It was the right thing for his career; however, as the years went by Katniss and he had drifted apart. They never exclusively dated, but he always thought they would end up getting married. Now that he was established and Prim was taken care of, he could finally make get her to see that they should be together.

He reached for the handle on the door of the privacy fence, but the sound of Peeta’s voice stopped him.

“I know you only love me for the cheese buns.”

“That’s not true,” Katniss’s voice floated through the air, “I love a lot of things about you.”

“Oh really, like what?” There was a teasing tone to Peeta voice, one that would only come from someone who was comfortable. Gale realized they knew each other better than he had hoped.

“Well, I love that you bring me flowers and that you take me out to dance. I love that you spend all your free time with me, even if it is just to be in the same room while we both work, and I love that you helped me fix up the house.“ Gale realized these were things he never did or thought of doing for Katniss. He just assumed she would think it was a waste of time and resources.

“Oh, is that all?” Peeta said.

Katniss chuckled before she answered. “No, I love how your eyes light up when you see me enter a room and how your arms make me feel safe. But most of all, I love when you hold my face in your hands when you kiss me.”

Peeta quickly responded, “Like this?”

Gale looked through a hole in the fence in time to see Peeta taking Katniss’s face in his hands as they kissed and he felt his stomach drop. He had kissed Katniss before, but this was different. He could see her melt into Peeta’s kiss, then he noticed her pull away for a second before climbing on his lap, straddling him, with her dress flowing behind her. Gale knew he should turn around and leave, but he was frozen in place watching the scene in front of him. Peeta groaned as Katniss got up. She walked to the door, but he swept her into his arms, before she could get too far away from him, which caused her to giggle. Gale again questioned how much he actually knew about her, the Katniss he left years ago didn’t giggle. It was clear that time had changed her in a good way — this Katniss seemed happy.

Gale started to leave, he knew he had lost her especially when he heard what she said next. “You know what I love the most about you? That I get to call you my husband.”

“Y/N, I swear if you wake my parents up laughing, neither of us will ever hear an end to it. Can you imagine everytime you come over my parents making endless jokes about the time we failed to sneak out because you were laughing?”

with Charles Xavier

The open window actually looked a lot higher up from down here than it did from up there. Nonetheless you were here now and you’d be damned if you didn’t manage to climb up. It wasn’t that hard, you just had to concentrate and not slip.

You stepped into the flower bed and started climbing up the wood that was placed there to stabilize the tomatoes or whatever they were growing there. Grabbing the windowsill you pull yourself inside and fall to the floor with a loud thud.

Charles spins around with a terrified expression, almost screaming before his eyes fall on you.

„Are you crazy, you scared the hell out of me. What are you doing here?“

„I have come to kidnap you.“ You say and start to laugh at his expression. He was standing there in his shirt, looking like a deer caught in the front lights of a car, just looking at you confusedly.

„Are you serious?“

„Yes we’re sneaking out Charles, so get ready and put on some pants.“

„Alright, alright but stop laughing already.“ He rummages through his drawer, visibly still shook up a bit and you can’t help yourself when you start to laugh again.

“Y/N, I swear if you wake my parents up laughing, neither of us will ever hear an end to it. Can you imagine every time you come over my parents making endless jokes about the time we failed to sneak out because you were laughing?”

„You’re right that would be awkward….maybe we should invite them too.“

„Y/N.“

„Okay, okay but hurry up or I’m starting to go through your things to entertain me.“

„No, no, no don’t you dare!“

„Why what are you hiding.“ You ask with a smile.

„Nothing! Just sit there and e quiet I’m ready in a minute.“

Dawn

Band Member: Luke

Type: Vampire AU (This is my Halloween fic!)

Description: You never planned to spend your Halloween like this, helping some stranger to run from the things in the forest but he needs your help and you can’t refuse those baby blues. So now you’re wrapped in some mess that you know can only end one of two ways.

You hated nights like this.

The rain was relentless, it refused to stop after you’d finished your shift at the bar. You’d told your boss you would only work the early shift on Halloween after last year’s incident. Some drunk guy dressed in a clown suit had followed you all the way home, only giving up when your then-boyfriend gave him a mouthful. If your shift ended at midnight, you didn’t have to worry about the crowds of witches, werewolves, and vampires being too drunk by that time. This year, you’d decided that driving was a better choice now you lived alone and your apartment was further out of the city.

The roads wound endlessly in this part of countryside, each side was lined with trees. You’d always thought it was pretty in the daylight but at night, it looked sinister under the moonlight. You glimpsed at it as you tapped your wheel to the beat of Bohemian Rhapsody. Out of the corner of your eye, you could have sworn that something moved within the depths of the darkness. You told yourself that you were being irrational. You started to sing along just to take your mind off of the cold feeling that was spreading across your stomach. You could have almost lost yourself in the song if it wasn’t for the voice that joined in.

You slammed your brakes on, screaming in the process as you narrowly missed swerving off of the road. You swore loudly, praying it was your imagination but when you glanced in your mirror, you realised you weren’t as crazy as you hoped you were. The car stuttered and stalled on the right side of the road, your front wheel edging dangerously close off of the road.

A blonde, pale guy stared back at you with the same horrified expression you had on your own face. He had dried blood dripping from his mouth which you guessed was part of his Halloween costume. You stared at him in sheer stunned silence until you finally regained the power of speech.

“Who the actual fuck are you?” you shouted as you maintained eye contact with the boy.

He opened his mouth but you weren’t finished with your horrified rant.

“And why the fuck are you in my car? How the fucking fuck did you get in anyway? How long have you been there? Jesus Christ on a bike, you nearly killed us! What the fuck told you that this was a good idea? Was it Grace that gave you my car keys? I swear she’s never liked me but this is some next level hatred.”

The guy waited for you to finish, you swore he almost laughed.

“My name is Luke, I needed somewhere to hide, you left it unlocked, I’ve been here for about an hour, Jesus Christ wouldn’t have had a bike – they weren’t invented until 1817, I was desperate, and I have no idea who Grace is.”

“What?” you asked.

“I answered your questions in order,” he said in a measured tone.

“I left my car unlocked?”

He nodded with wide eyes. “Yeah, I don’t like breaking into things that aren’t mine.”

You decided that he must be drunk and pulled your phone from your pocket. You had no idea who you planned to call for help since your family lived too far out to come to your rescue.

“There’s no service out here,” he told you.

“Great,” you mumbled. “Just fucking fantastic.”

You felt your heart pick up pace. This was definitely worse than last year, last year you had backup whereas, on this long stretch of road, you were utterly alone.

“I’m not going to hurt you,” he said calmly. “I just need help.”

“Help?” you echoed.

He nodded slowly and his eyes shifted towards the forest.

“Some people are after me, I needed to leave the city and I guessed I could hitch a ride. I’m an idiot, I should have just kept running. Just take me to the next petrol station and I’ll find another way.”

You eyed him suspiciously as you tried to decide who exactly he was running from.

“Are you running drugs or something?” you asked.

Luke laughed gently and shook his head. “No, never. I’m not mixed up in that. I just got out of a bad situation and let’s just say my bosses aren’t happy with the fact I’m leaving.”

You sighed as you started your car back up. It protested but eventually you managed to get it started and you began to drive down the road.

“Where are you heading?”

Luke looked pleasantly surprised by your decision not to throw him out of the car right there.

“Erm, I don’t really know. I haven’t had much time to plan.”

You frowned at the mysterious pale boy. “So you’re telling me you have no idea where you’re going but you ran out on them anyway? What was this, a cult or something?”

You laughed at your own idea, it was too ridiculous to even consider. But when you looked in your mirror, his expression was stony serious.

“Oh shit, really?” you said in disbelief.

“It was sort of a cult, I guess,” he muttered uncomfortably.

You were about to ask another question when something ran in front of your car. You screeched as you turned to avoid it, smashing directly into a tree. The jolt hurt your neck but the brunt of the damage was definitely taken by your car.

“What the fuck was that?” you asked Luke as you peered into the woods. “If that was a deer, then that was a deer with a rocket up its arse. Did you see how fast it moved?”

Luke stared into the trees like he’d seen a ghost.

“We have to move. Do you know any religious places around here?” he questioned you as he opened the door. “Churches, mosques, anything afflicted with a religion basically.”

You tried to think as he climbed out and clambered around to open your door. He checked you over for injuries, asking you several times if anything hurt before he helped you out.

“There’s an old church about five minutes away,” you answered with a furrowed brow. “But I’m almost sure it’s not Catholic so if you want to confess or whatever, it’s not going to have a confession box.”

Luke laughed at your naivety as he pulled you to start running. “I’m not catholic.”

“Then why the hell do you need a church? And what about my car?”

You looked back at the damage to your precious car and Luke tugged at your arm as you began to lag behind.

“I’ll call somebody to tow it later but right now, we need to run to that church like our lives depend on it because they do, okay?” he said through grated teeth.

You didn’t ask any more questions as insane ideas flooded your mind. Was he part of a gang? You guessed it was the only explanation you could think of that made any sense. Those types of things never wanted members to escape, right? Or was it some religious cult and that’s why he needed a church? You had no idea, all that you knew was you were crazy for getting involved.

As you guided Luke up to the broken gate that hung from its hinges, you saw how he was suddenly hesitant. You stared up at the church with him, it was an old stone building on the outskirts of the small town you lived in. The vicar always kept the building open until late, especially since it was All Saints’ Day now as you glanced at the time on your phone which was still struggling for signal.

“Luke, come on!” you hissed at him as you pushed the gate open and stood on the other side.

“I can’t,” he answered quietly.

He shuffled uncomfortably before he looked at you and chewed the ring in his lip.

“I found you a church, why aren’t you thrilled? Come on, Luke, we need to get inside and find help! If you didn’t want a church, we could have gone into the town and walked to my apartment then developed a plan for you.”

Luke tilted his head back and sighed. “I needed a church because the things that are chasing me can’t walk on holy ground.”

You gave him a look of disbelief but then you saw how he wasn’t joking. Your heart raced at the thought that you were up against something supernatural.

“Those things that are chasing you, they’re vampires, right?”

Luke nodded. “Yeah, that’s pretty much it.”

You realised that Luke was resisting your attempts to walk inside of the gate and you sucked in a breath as you stumbled backwards. His pained expression told you he knew that you’d worked it out. How had he expected you not to notice?

“Well fuck me,” you mumbled. “You’re a vampire too?”

Luke nodded again but he didn’t look at you, he stared at the floor.

“I needed to leave, they’re my nest but I can’t condone their ways anymore.”

“Then why bring me to a church you can’t get to?” you asked him as you decided his backstory could wait until you were inside and warm.

“There’s an old wives’ tale,” he said quietly, “that if a damned soul is led by a human then they may walk on hallowed ground. I thought it was worth a shot.”

You stared at him and how tense he looked at the thought of trying it. You wondered what would happen if it was just a story. Would he crumble to ash like they did in the movies? You had no idea since the whole mirror thing hadn’t worked in your favour.

“Even if you don’t want to help me anymore, you should be safe at least,” he added. “I’m sorry for getting you mixed up in this.”

“What happens if they catch you?”

Luke bit his lip again before shrugging. “The last person to do this was my friend. She managed to get three hundred miles away before they caught her. They dragged Elizabeth back to the clan and chained her outside so by mid-afternoon, she was dead. If anybody tried to help her, they were chained with her to die as well. I haven’t known anybody else stupid enough to try it.”

He looked away for a moment as he tried to compose himself again.

You took a deep breath and extended your hand to him.

“I guess I should say something like ‘welcome’ or ‘it’s okay for you to come in’ but I don’t know. I’ve not done this before because until about a minute ago I never knew vampires were real,” you rambled.

Luke smiled as he took your hand and took a timid step into the graveyard. He winced like he was expecting pain but his face and body relaxed when he realised it was okay. A smile spread across his face.

“It actually worked,” he whispered to himself happily.

You tried to pull your hand away once you realised how cold he was but Luke kept a gentle grip on your hand.

“I don’t want to chance it until we’re actually inside,” he admitted before adding. “If you don’t mind.”

You shook your head and kept hold of his icy hand until you were inside the church. You looked up at him to check he wasn’t burning or whatever he was supposed to do when on sacred ground.

“I’m okay,” he reassured you. “I’m a little stunned Elizabeth was right about this.”

You picked a pew close to the front, figuring that if anybody else worked out Luke’s trick, you could have more warning. You smiled at him when you finally sat down.

“You still have my hand,” you pointed out.

Your hand felt like it was a gloveless winter day but it wasn’t too bad, you quite liked how your hand fit in his.

“Oh, sorry,” Luke mumbled apologetically as he released your hand. “Hey, you should try and sleep. I doubt we’ll get any help until early morning anyway. And before you ask, no I don’t need to sleep. Sometimes I do just to pass the time.”

You laughed at the way he knew what your first question would be.

“Elizabeth asked the same thing,” he said with a fond smile that only came from remembering. “She used to sleep every day just so she felt human.”

You wanted ask who Elizabeth had been to Luke, she sounded more than just a friend but you knew it wasn’t the right time. Whoever she was, she sounded like she’d been special to Luke. Maybe Luke had turned her into a vampire and that’s what made her special.

“Believe it or not, I’ve slept in weirder places,” you said.

Luke held up his arm and gestured for you to lean your head against his chest. You weren’t sure whether it was a great idea but you decided that it was better than trying to balance on the thin wooden seat. You sighed as you rested your head against his chest, expecting a heartbeat which hadn’t existed for a good few years. It was weird at first but sleep called your name more than the reaction to pull away from him. Luke hummed until you felt your eyes growing heavy and you finally fell asleep.

You woke up from the nightmare with a start, Luke’s hands were already on your upper arms to stop you from falling flat on your face. The sun wasn’t up yet which disheartened you. You were hoping you’d wake up to Luke saying he’d found food and a way he could leave without being carted off back to the clan.

“I have nightmares too,” he said softly. “I used to sleep to see if I could dream of my family but the dreams became nightmares so eventually I just stopped trying.”

You rested your head back onto his shoulder, your head feeling like lead.

“So why are they so bothered if you leave?” you asked him.

“They have to be,” he said. “It’s part of the Dawn Pact we all make when we’re reborn. Basically if you want to leave, you have to evade them until the sun rises or they can chose a punishment the leaders believe is fair. If you make it to sunrise, you’re free and they cannot harm you or your new settlement in retaliation.”

You looked up at him and traced the outline of his jaw from this angle.

“Why did you want to leave?”

He tugged at his lip ring and sighed. “My clan are very old, they believe we need to uphold traditions I don’t agree with. They hunt even though vampires can survive without causing suffering. I raised the idea to our main leader, Adaline, and she told me I was a modern fool.”

“You sound like you care about them,” you said in a way that sounded more accusatory than you’d wanted.

“They’ve been my family for almost a century. My blood family have been dead for many years so the clan was all I had. They’ve become my brothers and sisters but I can’t agree with the way they live anymore. Elizabeth showed me we were still partially human and since then, I haven’t been able to hunt with them and it’s causing tension.”

You played with his fingers, bending them and making them dance as you listened to his story.

“What will you do? Will you find a new clan?”

“Of course he won’t,” a voice from the back declared. “He’s coming back to us.”

Luke stood up quickly, shielding you from the woman’s view. You heard her footsteps as she walked down the aisle.

“Adaline,” Luke said curtly.

“You really thought you’d managed it,” Adaline said smugly. “Oh Luke, do you not realise I’m just too good for your silly games?”

Luke backed away from her, stepping up behind the altar as the woman finally came into your view. Her long white hair was in a bun at the back of her neck, making her look like a bride as she lingered by you.

“One of the blood bags let me in, I really think you’re the most intelligent that ever tried to leave. So when we go back, I won’t kill you because you’ll be useful. I think you’ve proved yourself, Luke.”

You saw the shackles that she was playing with, seeing the small etchings of the religious symbols made your stomach turn. They’d burn, surely. Maybe they’d scar if Luke’s skin still did.

“I won’t come with you,” he said defiantly. “I’ve made it this far, Adaline!”

She laughed like he’d just told her a joke but before you could even glance back at Luke, the cold metal chain was against your throat. You didn’t have to see her to know she was smiling like the Cheshire cat, the chain tightened until your breath began to burn your throat.

“Come with me or I’ll have my fun with your play thing before we leave.”

Luke stared in horror, hoping it was just a bluff but you knew it wasn’t. Her breath was on your neck as her lips trailed down your skin, lightly pressing against your flesh until she found her way to the nape of your neck. You braced yourself for her to bite but Luke’s hands were already pulling at the chain that restricted you.

“Don’t hurt her,” he said harshly. “She hasn’t done anything wrong.”

“You involved her,” Adaline reminded him but she pulled away from you and moved back towards Luke. “So will you come willingly?”

Luke nodded mournfully, he’d been so close. You watched as Adaline prised open the cuffs to put on. You looked away, unsure you were ready to hear his skin hiss in protest. But you smiled when you saw it instead. Daylight.

“It’s the dawn!” you called out. “It’s too late! The sun is up!”

Adaline’s eyes snapped up in time to see the light filtering into the church. She smiled faintly as she stepped back.

“Congratulations, brother. You made it, you managed to survive until daylight so the clan will uphold the Dawn Pact. You are free to go,” Adaline told Luke.

You detected sadness in her voice but she reached out and placed a hand of his shoulder.

“Don’t forget us, Luke. Maybe you could bring yourself to visit from time to time.”

Luke returned her smile. “Maybe, Adaline.”

“Stay safe, okay?” she added before she began to walk out of the church.

She clapped her hand and a drowsy human stumbled towards her with a pretty lace parasol. She looked back regretfully before stepping out into the day.

Luke didn’t hesitate to pull you into a hug, his chin rested on top of your head as he pulled you closer.

“I’m so sorry you got dragged into this,” he mumbled into your hair. “Thank you though, most people would have ran a mile.”

“Believe me, I wanted to,” you muttered.

He laughed heartily, the sound vibrating in his chest.

“At least it’s over.”

Luke pulled away and looked at you like you were crazy.

“I wish it was but it isn’t. Adaline and her clan are bound by the pact but other vampires aren’t, if she told a sister clan then I’ll be hunted them since they aren’t tied by a pact. It’s happened before.”

“Great,” you sighed. “But before we start a new set of vampire worries, I need breakfast and to get my car towed.”

Luke nodded and wrapped his arm around your shoulders.

“That sounds like a plan I can live with.”

You sank yourself deeper into the bathtub, until your chin hit the steaming water. Unconsciously, you let out a blissful sigh, feeling your tight and stressed muscles begin to relax under all the warmth. Time was lost on you, all that mattered right now was that you were no longer dealing with angry clients at work or being dumbfounded by your class assignment. The peace was swiftly interrupted when your cell phone suddenly began to ring. You groaned. You reached your hand out towards the sink, stretching as much as you can, too stubborn to completely leave the comfort of the water.

“H-hello?” You stammered, sinking back into the tub.

“…Jagi.” You heard Namjoon smooth voice flow from the speaker, you felt your body relax even more. “Are you home right now?”
