lightweight performance

Ludwig: Back then, I had a problem in eating an excessive amount of snacks and grew heavier as a result. That was when I decided to set a goal to reach my ideal weight. If I mastered the Flutter Jump - a technique that the lightweight Yoshi could perform - then I had achieved my goal.

I watched and studied several videos of Yoshi performing it, as well as Luigi, who had his own variation. When I had all the information I needed, I started practicing. By keeping the goal in mind, I was able to moderate my snack intake, and worked out more. It took a few months, but it was well worth the effort.

High-Tech Jetliner Material Repairs Cracked Elephant Tusk

When someone like Jimmy Fallon accidentally chips a tooth opening a package, a dentist is usually right around the corner to perform a quick fix and send him on his way.

Things aren’t that easy in the world of pachyderm dentistry, especially when it comes to the animal’s venerable tusks. The elongated incisors have been known to weigh up to 200 pounds each in adult males and continuously grow at a rate of about seven inches a year.

That’s why a tusk crack means more than a toothache for the sad elephant that develops one–such dental damage can lead to serious infections. But unlike Jimmy Fallon, a troubled pachyderm can’t just pop into the dentist for repair work. So when Bulwagi, a 35-year-old male African elephant living at the Birmingham, Ala. zoo, developed a significant crack running down his left tusk, vets caring for him had to think creatively. Learn more and see a video about how carbon fiber and fiberglass came to the rescue below.

Amid the audacious design studies and automotive beauties from a bygone era gathered at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the BMW Group presents its new BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage – and in the process makes a pretty formidable statement of its own. This model is the BMW Design Team’s tribute to the 3.0 CSL, a timeless classic and iconic BMW Coupé from the 1970s.
“Our Hommage cars not only demonstrate how proud we are of our heritage, but also how important the past can be in determining our future,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design. “The BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage represents a nod to the engineering achievement exemplified by the BMW 3.0 CSL in its lightweight design and performance. With intelligent lightweight construction and modern materials, the 3.0 CSL Hommage brings the character of that earlier model into the 21st century, showing it in a new and exciting guise,” he says, summarizing the approach the design team took with the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage.
