What to Do if Witchcraft Drains You

Witchcraft requires summoning and manipulating energy. It takes a lot of work. As a result, sometimes spellwork can end up tiring people mentally, emotionally, or physically. If you find yourself drained after a spell, you can do many things:

  1. Eat something sugary, carbs, or fruit. This runs along the same vein as a nurse advising you to eat sugar after drawing blood: The sugar will reenergize you.
  2. Drink tea or water. Stay hydrated! even when not casting spells. In general, oolongs, blacks, and fruity teas can help energize you, whereas green teas and herbals (especially lavender, chamomile, mints and rose) can relax you.
  3. Light your favorite incense or candle. Frankincense, sage, cedar, dragon’s blood, patchouli, cinnamon, pine, and sandalwood are good cleansing and promoting positive energy. Or, light your favorite scent–it’ll automatically calm and re-energize you.
  4. Carry a stone with you. Amethyst, citrine, obsidian, rose quartz, lapis lazuli, jade, and hematite are good considerations for re-energizing and healing spiritual energy.
  5. …or, carry another special item with you! If you have a special pendant, prayer beads, necklace or other item that means a lot to you and comforts you, it can help restore your energy just by being in your presence.
  6. Take a bath or shower
  7. Take a walk out in nature. Even though you may not feel like working out, exercising can actually energize you rather than deplete you. You can absorb nature’s energies to replenish yours, too.
  8. Take a nap, or get a good night’s sleep. If you want an extra boost, place a healing stone under your pillow to recharge you while you sleep.
  9. Watch a funny movie or video, or read a good book. It’ll relax you, take your mind off your drained feeling, and correct any “off” feelings you may have.
  10. Work on something else that requires minimal energy. This could be crafting, knitting, watering your plants, or even doing your homework. Getting back into the groove of things will help reset your energy and stabilize you for daily life.
  11. Friends! If calling a friend or socializing will relax you, go for it! It’ll make you happier, too.

I hope you may rest well, take care of yourself and have a blessed path! (◕‿◕✿) Sincerely, a witch who’s exhausted after performing spells for four hours.

Bath Spell to Release Anger

You Will Need…

  • Rosemary [Love]
  • Lavender [Calming]
  • Rose Petals [Love]
  • Chamomile [Calming
  • Salt [Purification]
  • White candle(s) [Serenity]
  • Blue candle(s) [Calming]

Intent: To release anger, to calm down

  • 1. Combine the herbs, salt, and sugar in a sachet. Focus on your intent as you mix them together.
  • 2. Draw your bath. You may want to add salt crystals or Epsom salts. Add your sachet to the water and focus on the healing energies of the ingredients being released into the water.
  • 3. Light your candles and place them near the tub if possible.
  • 4. Step into the tub. Relax. Breathe. Imagine your body absorbing the positive energies of the sachet. Relax your mind and your body. Focus on positivity.
  • 5. In your head or out loud, chant or sing or whisper this:

“I am clean, I am serene.
Anger does not control me.
I will not shout, I will not lash out.
Anger does not control me.”

  • 6. Repeat this as many times as you need, but aim to repeat it at least 3 times.
  • 7. Wash your hair and your body. Imagine that you’re scrubbing away the negativity.
  • 8. Rinse off and drain the tub. Imagine all of your negativity going down the drain and away from you. Now you are open to absorb only good things.
  • 9. Dry off, get dressed, blow out the candles, but most importantly: breathe.

If you’re wondering why I used glitter, my logic is that nothing bad in my life has ever come from using gold glitter, so why not?

Today I’ve got probably the easiest, most beginner friendly jar I’ve ever posted. I need good luck, you probably need some good luck, this is what we’re making today. Usually I have jars that have different herbs ans such for different elements of the jar for the jar’s purpose. Not today. Today it is literally one jar full of herbs and spices that all have one purpose in mind – luck.

So, because of that, you can use any of the herbs listed, as many or as few as you want to or have on hand. In italics are the ones I’ve used in mine.

  • lilac
  • acorn
  • bay leaf
  • clover
  • allspice
  • poppy seeds
  • tonka bean
  • aloe
  • caraway seeds
  • catnip
  • parsley
  • chamomile
  • dill
  • star anise

While there are others, I have only listed a few that I feel like people have on hand.

The put together of this jar in simple. Light your candle, focus on your intention, and layer in your herbs. Feel free to additionally use anything that is lucky to you. Perhaps when sealing the jar, if you have a lucky coin you could press it into the wax to leave the print of it, use sigils, etc. Anything to make this more personal, the better. For me, I decided to use gold glitter just because I wanted to. Glitter is something I always want to use in my draft but I never do, so I decided to today because like I said, nothing bad has ever come to me when glitter was involved, haha!

If you have trouble sealing your jar, I have a tutorial for that here.

In addition to that, you can find all my other jars and original posts here, or here is just a masterpost of them (so far).

If you have any questions feel free to drop by my ask box! And as always, if you make any of my jars, I would love to see them, so feel free to tag me!

A Curse on Donald Trump

You will need:

A black candle
string

How to:

Charge the candle with your intent. Think about what a xenophobic fascist sexist capitalist prick Donald Trump is. Channel that rage into your candle. Think about how desperately you want him to fail, how desperately you want to see him ruined. Envision his glorious fall, his humiliation, his destruction. Believe that he will fail. Know that he will fail. Oil the candle with an appropriate oil if thats your thing.

Light the candle.

Pick up the string. Say:

Donald John Trump Senior, son of Fred Trump,
I place a curse on your head

tie a knot in the string

Your racism, greed, and fascism
will be the key to your undoing
every time you open your mouth
you inspire your own failure

tie a knot in the string

May your boasting and compulsive lies
be found out and unravelled,
may your political campaign end in humiliating ruin
You will never be president

tie a knot in the string.

Release your intent into the universe. You can tuck the string away somewhere, or simply throw it away, though for best results I recommend mailing the string to Trump Tower, 725 5th Ave, New York, NY 10022

shoutout to people who celebrate chanukkah and:

  • don’t have presents as a part of their tradition
  • can’t afford to have presents be a part of their tradition
  • have to deal with goyim saying “Jews basically get xmas for 8 so lucky!!”

don’t feel bad. do whatever you normally do. light your candles, make your latkes and sufganiyot, play dreidel, sing songs, pray, remember, have fun with your family or friends or yourself, whoever you’re with. remember that the concept of nightly presents on chanukkah were heavily popularized in America and other xtian centric countries due to xtians associating chanukkah with xmas and commercializing it that way, you are not obligated to be able to give presents to everyone every night.

also a note to non Jewish folks (by the way this is ok for you to reblog): chanukkah presents, if they are part of a family’s tradition at all, are in many families small things like new pencils or a piece of candy or a book, not large xmas type presents. and there are also lots of Jewish homes in which presents are not a tradition, & many homes in which they cannot be due to lack of money. chanukkah is not ‘the 8 days of Jewish xmas’ , it has been unfortunately marketed that way. it is a minor religious festival & major cultural one celebrated by many religious and secular Jews. and it is not about 8 days of presents.

Banishment Bath - Love and Memories

Use: Roses are strongly associated with love, passion and memory.  With this ritual bath, it will aid in banishing persistent negative memories that hurt you and repelling unwanted romantic and sexual attentions.

What you will need:

A new moon night

Sea salt

Rose Petals (dried or fresh)

Candles (tea lights work fine and white or black can be used)

Storm water (optional)

Rosemary (optional - for added boost on the memory and purification)

Directions:

New moon cycles are great for banishments and new beginnings, because of this you will want to have your bath on the night of the new moon. Set your circle within your bathroom.  Now you will need to pull out your candles.  The number will vary but you will want one candle per memory or persistent pursuer of you for this ritual.  If you want it to be a generalized ritual, a pillar candle is recommended.  Light your candle(s) thinking specifically about what you want to banish and once that is done, begin to draw up your bath water and turn out the lights so you are left with your candle light.

While you are filling the tub, pour in some storm water if you plan to use it.  The amount is up to you.  If you are not using storm water, put in the salt now so it can have time to dissolve.  Now throw in your rose petals and your rosemary too if you are going to use it.  After you have filled the tub, climb in and soak.  Now is the hard part.  If you are banishing painful memories, you will need to think on them again, how they made you feel, why they hurt so much.  If you are trying to banish and repel unwanted attentions, you will need to think on them and acknowledge why they make you uncomfortable.  Take a deep breath in, hold it and then exhale, releasing the memory with it.  State to yourself that what’s done, is done and it will not change now.  Acknowledge that it hurt and then state that you no longer give it power over you.

When you are finished with that memory (or person) drip some of your bath water onto the candle, extinguishing the flame, picturing it’s influence being snuffed from your life.  Repeat until you have gone through all of your candles. If you would like to sit a little longer in your bath, you may do so and focus on the water cleansing you of what holds you down.  Get out of the bath when you are ready and do a bit of self care.  :3

Quick Morning Magick

Here are some quick magickal techniques you can use first thing in the morning to help make your day go a little easier!

Morning Shower Meditation - use the element of water to cleanse yourself of any lingering negativity from the previous day. Use herbal soaps, herbal bags for aromatherapy, oils, or other means to help you focus on your intent to wash away negative energy down the drain.

Light some incense - I do this on most mornings to set a tone for how I want the day to proceed. Aromas can produce powerful emotions and moods. Here’s a brief list of some of my favorites scents and some of their attributes.

  • Frankincense and Myrrh - uplifting
  • Amber - comfort, healing, and happiness

  • Cinnamon - success and strength

  • Jasmine - love and wisdom

  • Pine - grounding

Altar Devotion/Invocations - You can light some candles on your altar and speak some invocations for your deities to guide you throughout the day. I do a Goddess Devotion every morning to ask Her for her strength, vitality, love, and intuition to guide me.

Breakfast - Even your breakfast can be spiritual! You are filling yourself with the nourishment that the Earth has provided you with. Be conscious of what you eat. Try fruits, oatmeal, grits, milk, juices, meats, and breads to start your morning by showing your gratitude to all that is.

Glass of Water - Having a glass of water in the morning can be used to cleanse the body, just like the shower. You can even do an herbal tea blend to incite a mood just as the incense does.

Yoga and Exercise - This can also be a form of meditation in the morning.

Dream Journals - You can keep a dream journal by your bed so you can record your dreams in the morning when you first wake up. Writing can also be considered a form of meditation and getting into a routine can become your personal ritual.

Greet the Sun - Going for a walk outside or just watching the sunrise can be a very powerful ritual. The Sun lends us its strength, passion, and love as we go about our busy day. Greet the sun and ask it for guidance.

Simple Spell for making people feel loved

I use this is for friends, family members, significant others, etc. that are having a rough time and just need to know they’re loved and cared for.

 🔮Materials:

 - Candle

- paper

- cinnamon

- fire-safe tin/jar/container

 - pencil

 🔮To do:

 - light your candle

- write the name of the person you want to feel loved on your small piece of paper (preferably first and last so it for sure goes to that person)

-dip your paper in the flame so it starts burning and drop it in your jar (try not to burn yourself!)

 - while it burns chant (change pronouns as necessary): “With this I ask of all my might to let her know I love her day and night. May these flames bring the ashes to the skies and may it let them be sparks in her eyes Please let her know that I do care, let her know that I am there. Please never let her be alone, and let my love become her own.”

-after all of the paper is burned sprinkle a bit of cinnamon over the ashes for extra love and protection.

 - to make this work faster sprinkle ashes over the soil but this is not required.

  • Cover the sigil in a sprinkling of dried thyme and sea salt.
  • Stand your candles on the mirror at either side of the sigil (it helps to lean taper candles toward the sigil).
  • Light your black candle, then your white candle.
  • Let the melting wax from your candles completely cover the sigil. Do not distinguish them before the sigil is covered.
  • Smother the flames to extinguish them or let the candles burn completely.

Spell For A Friend In Need

I have a friend that is in a difficult situation which is affecting her physical health, and her emotional, spiritual and mental health all at once. I came up with this spell on the spot, and realised it might be nice to share. Instead of a simple healing spell, happiness spell, banishing spell individually, this is a simple little charm with all round well wishes, positive healing, banishing and protective energy; and all it takes is your love and care for someone in need.

What You’ll Need:

  • Twigs/sticks roughly the same size (NOT broken off a plant but found on the ground)
  • Twine or string
  • Candle
  • Incense of your choosing
  • Crystals
  • Salt water/rain water/moon charged water

Method:

  1. Light the candle, cleanse your space and focus on your person in need, what position they’re in and how you want to help them.
  2. While focusing on this, take the twigs and carefully and slowly tie them together with the string in the shape of a star. Put all your positive spiritual energy into the creation of the pentagram. Think about the earth the twigs came from and how you can give the strength of nature to your friend.
  3. When done, light the incense and hold the pentagram in the smoke. Ask the element of air for communication and reason for your friend. To help them maintain rational thought and mental stability in a difficult time. ( I sat there for the entire incense stick to burn down, holding the each point of the pentagram over the smoke, but if you’re in a rush you don’t have to wait that long).
  4. Next, hold the pentagram over the flame of the candle and continue to focus on your friend. Fire will bring them willpower, courage and strength. It will help them persevere and built resilience. (Be careful not to burn the pentagram)
  5. Sprinkle the pentagram with water, or you can dip it completely into the water while wishing for your friend balance, emotional and mental clarity and stability.
  6. Lastly, place your pentagram somewhere it can rest for a while, and surround it with your crystals. Mine were chosen for general spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health and protection as well as happiness and energy, but you may want to put all of your crystals around it or very specifically chose them. This is for the Earth element, which will bring physical health and wellbeing and extra strength and stability. Alternatively, if you do not have any crystals or not many, you can put the pentagram outside in the grass or on the dirt under a tree and let it rest there to absorb the Earth’s energy.
  7. Finally, blow out your candle, and when you’re ready, give the pentagram to your friend and tell them to carry it with them or put it under their pillow. If you can’t give it to them, keep it with you to remind you to constantly send them your positive energy.

“Turning Over a New Leaf” - spell for new beginnings

I’m trying to take more responsibility in my life, really owning my new adult status and working on improving myself. Autumn is about productivity- so this is a spell for everyone who wants a fresh start. It can be modified for discreet witchcraft if you need to.

You will need:

A leaf. Preferably an fallen one, so it’s drier, and with a broad, flat surface. I used Magnolia, but use whatever you can find.

Incense of your choice. I used orange, because citrus to me signals energy, but you could use any kind you want. If you can’t use incense, you’ll need something to write on the leaf. But I like including the incense because fire represents rebirth and rejuvenation- think phoenix.

How to cast:

Step 1: Identify the change you want to make. For example, let’s say you want to drink more water. Light your incense/candle/wax melter. While it’s burning, write down the steps you’re going to take to achieve your goal. If you want to drink more water, write down steps like: filling your water bottle every night, restricting soda to the weekends, or getting a smaller size coffee.

Step 2: Once the incense has burned down, use the cooled ashes to draw a symbol or word on one side of the leaf- to represent you before the change. On the other side, draw a sigil, symbol, or word to represent your new goal. For our example, you could draw waves, a health sigil, or a word like “hydrate”.

Step 3: Crumple the leaf and scatter at the roots of a tree. In this way, the past will fuel and nourish the future growth.

Hope you enjoy this spell, and that it brings positive changes in your life.

Blessed be!- Kate
